"Culver City rooftop pool bar Celestina now has its own signature outdoor experience to stand out in the sunny crowd: twinkle-lighted open-air igloos for nighttime partying and Instagramming. The reservable igloos seat four to eight and come with a minimum $50 per person spend across food and cocktails, and come with fire pits, games, and more." - Farley Elliott

Trendy rooftop restaurant at the Shay Hotel. Last time we ate at Etta, a manager came to show us view at Celestina, so we knew we had to come back to eat here. They didn’t have the igloos anymore, but they have open air indoor and outdoor poolside seating. You can make a reservation online beforehand (note a credit card deposit is required). We opted to walk-in. If you’re looking for it, just the elevator to the 6th floor. You can use the entrance to etta and make a right behind the wall. Credit cards accepted. Large group seating is available. Gendered restrooms are available outside the doors. Note that the place did close at 9pm on a weekday, so it’s not a late night spot. The drinks menu is tequila-focused, and the shots came out in a little octopus holder that was really cute. The elote ribs were super tasty and you eat them like you would real ribs! The chicken wings were standard and nicely crunchy. The nachos were good to share for 2-3 people. We asked to add al pastor to ours, which they forgot about, but when we asked about it, they took our plate and came back with the meat, so all was good. The churros come with a chocolate dipping sauce on the side, and were super crispy.

I had big hopes for the Celestina's under the stars experience, but sadly it was such a disappointment. The food was nothing outstanding  their tacos, shrimp ceviche tostada, burritos, queso fundido had no element of surprise, a twist, you can find more uniqueness and flavor in any taco truck in LA .They didn't have tamales or pozole. The elotes and churros were good, as well as the honey bee cocktail.  The table in the middle of the igloo is so small that it gets impossible to place all the dishes also very uncomfortable to eat. Music selection meh. Service I want to say it was good but they mixed up some orders. Each person in a 4 party group has to consume 75 dollars to be inside a plastic bubble. If you weren't able to get a reservation for this experience, trust me, you aren't missing much. Celestina, you must step up your game and make some changes in the menu

Love this place! Came here with friends for weekend dates and the experience was great. Good services, atmosphere and beauty scenery overlooking the city. I highly recommend the coconut shrimp, so yummy.

Google
Very cute rooftop restaurant above Etta (which is also very good btw). The drinks are well crafted and strong. And the food here are Oaxaca-inspired dishes that’s very well done. Would be back soon!

Honestly won’t be much of a review. It’s a cute secret like location. Rooftop with a convenient pool. Bar. I’m coming back when it’s warmer. And get Anthony as your server. Bc..yeah…

[Update 8/19/22] Per their website, permanently closed at The Shay Hotel, indicates moving to a new location soon, so TBD! Ok, scant reviews on this place so far, so here's the skinny: This is the rooftop/pool area bar for The Shay Hotel. The restaurant is open to the public as well as Hotel Guests. I stopped in for a Monday lunch (just to do this review), and it was pretty empty right at 1 PM. They opened Halloween of 2021. There is a small open-air seating area around the bar right as you come in, and then eight 4-top tables on one side of the pool itself, so I'd say the 'restaurant' seats 60 or so...the rest of the pool deck is set up like a small boutique hotel should be...A dozen or so pool chairs, and then a few pool couches and umbrellas. But that is something to note...while nobody was in the pool when I was there, you might be having your dinner or lunch with kids playing in a pool just a few feet away. Menu is limited, Mexican-flare but pretty standard. All the food I had was good. I had chips and Guac, and just note while it is $18, it serves 4 people pretty well. And they give you vinegar and hot & mild salsas to mix in and sort of make the Guac your own. Service was good, and my Mescal-themed cocktail was quite nice. The star of the menu is the Taquiza Tower, which is $90 but designed as sort of a family-style, make-your-own street taco set up, with shrimp, barbacoa, etc and fresh tortillas, sounds fun but didn't try by myself, but would be fun with a party. Server told me it feeds 4-6. The Hotel has free Wifi, speed was OK. So the only oddness here is this is a Hotel Pool you're sort of dining at, so other than feeling like you're invading their space a bit, Celestina is definitely worth a try if you're looking for something different in Culver City. One other note: parking at the Hotel is Valet Only, and the Restaurant validation price is $10 for 3 hours...note there isn't a ton of signage down on the street or even in the Hotel lobby for Celestina, but as you enter the Hotel, just go straight through the lobby and to the Elevators to the 6th floor. Enjoy.

Elotes that we eat like a rib, very yummy and east to enjoy. Our pork belly mole was very delicious too. It reminded me of the times when I was in Oaxaca. Mezcal based cocktail Honey Bee with a hint of lavender honey, yuzuri yuzu was executed to perfection. I'll be back next week!

$20 for a glass of champagne. Food was bland. Took an hour for a burrito to come we had to remind them. Then it was cold so clearly it had been sitting there. They say you need reservations yet half the tables were empty when I was there. Sunset was disappointing as a huge structure blocks direct view. You can squeeze behind it but u cant sit and enjoy your drinks just get a quick picture.

Yelp
It took some persuassion but my husband agreed to spend New Yeare's Eve at the Shay Hotel. He wanted to stay at the Culver Hotel but as a corporate event planner I have been wanting to experience the Shay Hotel to see if it might be a fit for future event needs. Because it was our anniversary my husband decided to surprise me with a premium suite. We arrived at 2 p.m. hoping that we might get an early check-in but completely understood that it might not happen. When we arrived, the girl at the desk let us know that the room wasn't ready and because the current occupants had used their Hyatt Rewards for a late check-out, they wouldn't be checking out until 4 p.m. That meant our room wasn't going to be ready until 6p or 6:30p. I must have misunderstood because check-in is 4 p.m. so how could we be denied access to our room for two hours after check-in time? I am still perplexed by the whole check-in process. I have never felt less valued by a hotel. With our dinner reservation set for 7 pm. a 6:30p check-in would not work for us. We talked about just returning home but we were trying to salvage what little we could of our special evening. We opted to downgrade to a standard king room so that we could at least have time to get ready before our night out. We were issued a refund for the cost difference of the room (which we absolutely were due) and they waived our $30 destination fee. A bottle of wine was also sent to the room as an apology for their error. Although the hotel was very nice and should elicit a higher rating from me the entire experience was tainted by the fact that we weren't important guests. A $40 credit for the inconvenience just wasn't very satisfying. Without the veil of disappointment covering my eyes I can admit that the lobby of the hotel is very inviting. There are fireplaces, seating areas and a pool table for guests to enjoy. The standard king room was very nice (probably not as nice as the king suite but that's just me being bitter). The furnishings are modern, sleek and clean. The location of the hotel is convenient to local shops and restaurants. I really wish I could have experienced this hotel with fresh eyes and an open heart but once you feel like dirt, it's hard to appreciate the beauty surrounding you. I don't plan on staying here again and I cannot recommend this space for future corporate events which is too bad because it is a nice hotel. I would suggest that Hyatt review their membership rewards program to ensure that one guest isn't slighted when another opts to use their points to upgrade their experience. check-in experience: 1 star hotel room: 4 star

Yelp
We stayed at The Shay during Labor Day weekend and really enjoyed our time there. The location is very convenient; we can walk to downtown Culver City from the hotel to enjoy life there. We had a room with 2 Queen Beds facing the courtyard and the train tracks, which reminded me of the apartment building I lived in before in NYC. I liked the clean and modern interior of the room. The bed was very comfortable, and I loved the blackout curtains as well. The bathroom's dressing table is very cute and useful. The high-pressure rainfall showerhead in the shower is excellent and relaxing. I love the lobby of the hotel, which features a modern and country-style mixed design. We enjoyed playing pool in the entertainment room next to the bar. You can overlook downtown Los Angeles from the rooftop and enjoy the pool and DJ music there. We also had breakfast and lunch on the rooftop; the food was great. The hotel also has other nice restaurants, but we didn't have enough time to try them. It also has a nice gym and ballrooms to host events. The service was excellent! The front desk staff was very friendly and professional. She was very patient and helped us with all kinds of questions. We will definitely recommend The Shay to our friends and will visit again soon!

Yelp
Upstairs rooftop restaurant was wonderful. Food was great and so was service. Parking by valet is a little pricey.

Yelp
I really like the vibe and view at this Hyatt destination hotel. The moment of almost immediately upon walking into the lobby of The Shay hotel, can sometimes feel like being in an offsite writers' room. In fact, Culver City, with huge presence of media and entertainment companies, makes more of the movies and TV shows you see than Hollywood, which was the original home of Los Angeles film making plus the big sign, so it remains the label to describe the industry.

Nicole G.

Yelp
Second visit, I'm amazed how great the staff is. Room was on the 6th floor and I enjoyed every day there. Modern decorated hotel. Heated pool. Gym is located on the second floor, accessed by a pathway. Daily room cleaning Valet parking

Yelp
We recently had like a business type media convention here. Stayed here at the Shay Hotel, and it was mad crazy beautiful. Hotel is in a nice area, with a good view of the city looking down. We had some good food here and room service was the best. The drinking bar is fun too. We all had dinner and drinks, and started dancing in the halls. Lots of Weddings are performed here too. They have good Hotel rates during the week. Weekends are high prices like anywhere else tho.

Rachael S.

Yelp
Drastically overpriced The Shay charges $299 per night for a room that is okay, but nothing special. When I checked in at about 3:30 pm they told me my room wasn't yet ready and tried to upsell me from a 2 queen beds room to a 1 king room for an additional $10/night. When I said I wanted to stick with the 2-queen room, magically the room was suddenly available. There is no self-parking in their garage, and valet parking is $50 per day while there is a self-parking garage around the corner that is $18 per day. The toilets don't flush well. The shower head was too high for me to even reach and adjust (I am 5'6") and the lower hand-held water source was awkwardly placed and not a good substitute for the overhead shower. I didn't have a choice about where I stayed, but you do, so I recommend avoiding the Shay.

Mike A.

Yelp
It just felt like a pool day and The Shay Hotel was the perfect spot to have that experience. I reserved my pool chair and entry into the hotel through Resort Pass (google it if you don't already have it!), and the process of checking in was easy. It was my first time there and I didn't know what to expect, but when I stepped off out of the elevator, a rooftop oasis greeted me. There's a restaurant bar and restaurant adjacent to the pool area. It wasn't overly crowded and the service staff did a great job of keeping folks in plain clothes out of the pool area. The cocktails were prepared well and the fish tacos were excellent!

Jerry M.

Yelp
This is a very nice hotel. Everything is fresh and new. We are enjoying the Patio King Suite which is beautifully appointed and has its own private patio space. There is a huge accordion door that leads to it and that really transforms the suite into an indoor outdoor space. On check in we were helped by Bernice at the World of Hyatt desk. She was warm, welcoming and super attentive. She went the extra mile to make us feel at home. Ultimately any hotel is really just a big box of bedrooms. It is outstanding people like Bernice that bring it to life. Double highly recommend!

Yelp
Wow..... I am blown away by this team and property! Tucked away in the heart of Culver City, The Shay is an excellent weekend getaway. I had a work event in LA and my partner and I decided to stay the night, so we didn't have to drive back to Orange County. I love that The Shay hosts cool meet ups for the local community. When we checked in, we were encouraged to checkout the rooftop to see the pool and visit their event. It was so cute. Our room was perfect. It had an awesome review. The bed was comfortable and just what we needed after a long day at work. The Shay is in walking distance to so many things to do in Culver City. Highly recommend the property for a staycation.

Latifah A.

Yelp
This place is a total vibe. Very sleek and sexy ambiance and decor. A great place to have a drink at the lobby bar even if you aren't staying. The hotel has a great rooftop pool and restaurant as well as a delish Italian restaurant on the ground floor. It is located next to shops and restaurants. It's the perfect place to stay in Culver City!

Kai L.

Yelp
We absolutely love this property. We've stayed here twice now and love how it's so convenient and central: from being walking distance to downtown Culver to being close to all of our friends on the west side. The hotel is brand new with a beautiful rooftop pool space. It's super swank and everything is kept spotless. There are also Flowater refill stations at the gym and ice machine areas, which I love. However, this time they went the extra mile. We booked our stay for a regular room, but we're traveling with our baby for the first time. We politely asked Brittany at the front desk if there were space available upgrades that we were happy to pay for. Brittany was amazing and even managed to get us upgraded to the presidential suite, which floored us! She didn't have to: I have no status with Hyatt. But she did everything possible to make our stay hassle free with a child. Every time we come to LA, I'm almost certain I'm choosing to stay at the Shay each time.

Thomas H.

Yelp
We're def staying here again if we're ever in Culver City area. Tip: 1. If you want to save a bit of money on parking and don't mind non-secure-valet parking. Valet parking of $45 is the only option here. But the same underground parking offers public parking (gated, so it looks safe) for max daily fee of $18. So you would save more than $30/day (including tips) 2. The Co-op market across the street is so convenient! Staff & room: - Friendly and efficient staff - Text message system with the hotel staff is so convenient and they are right on top of things. Loved it! - Valet is a bit pricy at $45/night. But that's on par with surrounding neighborhoods. And it's a peace of mind for the car. They're always quick at retrieving the car. Never had an issue. See tip above, you can park in the same underground parking for max of $18/day - Plenty of lights in the room. All adjustable and placed at all the right places. We especially like the ones in between the beds, the decorative and the focus lights. The motion-sensor bathroom light was great! - Shower's water pressure is great (very strong), yet adjustable if that's not your thing. Neighborhood: Convenient location. Co-op market across the street has everything you would need, to support local community. Employees there were so friendly and helpful. Bianca across the street has amazing pastry, coffee and friendly staff!

Jared L.

Yelp
They charge a mandatory surprise fee of $30/night even though we fully booked and paid ahead of time. Shady money grubbing business. They're trying really hard to be a luxury destination but don't offer much beyond an average hotel except big hidden fees.

Yelp
Had an good experience at the Shay for my birthday weekend! Huge shoutout to Omar for responding to my many questions via email, and setting me up for a great time! Another shoutout to Jackson for helping us check in super late at night and providing awesome customer service. Amenities here are great. The room was clean. I was surprised by some goodies for my birthday, which was such a thoughtful gesture which I definitely appreciated. Bed was good. Bathroom was great. Shower was awesome. Everything about the room was thoughtfully laid out. Only downside to the room, close to the front of the TV, the floor was a bit uneven and there was a pretty big creaky sound whenever you would walk by. I also did wish the room came with a bit more toiletries. They have a little card of items which they can provide (which was great), but a few times, it took staff really long to provide my requested items (clearly because they forgot, but not a big deal). Lobby area is a vibe. There is a pool room with TVs. A lot of areas where you can work or just chat. Fitness center was really nice. Didn't really use it, but just checked it out. The Shay shares the lobby with restaurant etta which was recommended by staff and friends. We tried them out which was great as well! They have a pool at the top but it shares with the bar/restaurant upstairs. It definitely got crowded so we decided not to mingle with strangers. Parking is a bit pricey. Only $45/day valet available. I believe there should be cheaper parking options nearby where you can park for a day, but just decided to eat the cost of parking for ease. I would definitely recommend staying at the Shay, as it really is the full package. Follow the adventure @shoyuthebest on IG!

Yelp
We had a fantastic stay here. Room was spacious with lots of comfy seating areas. Massive bathtub, and a very clean and homey aesthetic. Reminds of of the virgin hotel styles. The bar downstairs always has welcoming bartenders who make drinks that do you good. Real good. Other patrons here are all obviously have a great time, lots of through traffic but it's organized and not overcrowded. Very professional staff.

Verlinda H.

Yelp
Recently stayed for a week on a semi-business trip. The hotel is immaculately clean and the staff, from front desk to food service to housekeeping, was very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast at The Canopy Club on the roof was a highlight...the people cooking know how to make the most decadently delicious soft-scrambled eggs. The pool deck is a nice spot for gathering with friends, too. I'd definitely stay here again...just know that you're getting what you pay for.

Kyia S.

Yelp
Overall great place to hang out on a girls day or just a self care day. Food is amazing drinks are really good, 6 of us hung out bill was under 350. So price was good

Tiffany L.

Yelp
We stayed for two nights in September during our LA trip and wished we stayed our entire time here. Beautiful new and modern hotel. Was able to snag a suite upgrade with Hyatt Globalist status. One of the best suite upgrades I've gotten. Loved the spacious bathroom and our balcony to have coffee in the mornings. There was no door separating the bedroom and the bathroom area, if you're sharing the room you can't get naked in front of, just an FYI. Not sure if the regular rooms are like this or not. Breakfast is served on the rooftop (which has a lovely pool), ugh gotta love LA weather. Etta is the restaurant housed downstairs and while we didn't dine there during our stay, I know it well because coincidentally the first location originally opened in Chicago, down the street from where I live. So I can attest to the delicious food. The lobby is also impeccable and the staff was lovely as well. Will stay here again!

Yi B.

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel. It has a nice roof top. But, a lot of staff don't know what they are doing. They are nice, but maybe they are just still adjusting. Valet is a hot mess when there are a lot of people, usually at night, so beware and good luck. City views are quieter, if that's something important to you, because the other side faces a popular restaurant (I.e. loud drunk people at night) and the tram. The hotel is decently soundproof.

Elaine T.

Yelp
Excellent staff, very professional, personable, and efficient. From the valet parking, to the front desk and restaurant personnel, everyone is obviously well chosen for their friendliness, kindness, and intelligence. Their location next to metro stop and bus stop and 1 block from Platform, made this an ideal choice for people who don't want to drive in LA. The Valet parking for hotel guests is $42 with discounted rates/times for restaurant guests. There is also a $25 resort fee, so this is not cheap for the size and location, but your choice if you want convenience without driving and a modern decor. The King Room with a city view had excellent views of mountains and Platform (restaurant and shopping center). Amenities were nice with a Nespresso machine in room with both regular and decaf pods, plush robes, and USB charging ports in the alarm clock module. The only snag to the stay was the noise from the metro line stopping and the people in the hallways, so if you are wish a quiet place, bring your earplugs!

Allie T.

Yelp
Really nice inviting atmosphere for a business meeting. I would recommend this chic boutique hotel. Etta restaurant is next door. Appears to be busy.

Kenia G.

Yelp
My husband and I had an amazing stay at this hotel! It was our 7th year wedding anniversary and we decided on a little staycation and it was a 5 star experience! As soon as we walked, we noticed the attention to even the little things that made the huge difference. From the amazing receptionists who checked us in and gave our little pup some extra love and attention, to the card and complementary champagne left in our room to celebrate our special occasion. Not to mention, I always come in super weary about bringing my pug as we have had some terrible experiences with hotels in the past but they made us feel very welcomed. The pool attendants were also very helpful, as we did not know we had to make reservations for pool seats beforehand but they made space where available for us. Poolside drinks were also delicious btw! Thank you Shay for an incredible anniversary, we will be back soon!

Will T.

Yelp
This Hotel shows nice amenities however their irresponsible on all transactions. This place should not be called The Shay, more like The Shady. I stayed at this hotel for a wedding for which multiple other family members & friends stayed and we were told that we would get a group discount. I had gone to their website to check their prices after they had told us of a discounted price and our discounted price was more than what was shown on their website. How does that make sense? Shady. Next, I was charged twice on my stay at The Shady, they initially disputed my charge and I had to tell them that the only bill they emailed me was the initial charge. Later I find out that multiple other people were charged for things they never ordered, valet, room service. Again...Shady Lastly, the Groom and Bride planned way ahead of time (we are talking months) and gave Specific instructions on when to provide the Wedding welcoming gifts which were never provided to me or my group of friends (we all came separately) we found out later in the wedding and had to get our welcoming gifts after the wedding. This did not make the bride happy at her Wedding day. I want to also add that it is very disappointing the lack of ownership/ accountability the owner has when providing a response to all the previous low ratings. No it's not lack of planning or communication. Someone or something in your establishment are making extra charges, providing false discounts, and not following directions. Make the correct adjustments instead of blaming the customer!

Adrian N.

Yelp
Today is the day after my wedding. We selected the Shay as our hotel for our wedding night and for our guests to stay the day before and after. Out of all the vendors we used for our rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception, this is the one my wife and I regret using. Summary: The rooms are in disrepair, patched together with faulty caulking and shoddy paint or ignored damage and the staff is haughty and unbothered. We will not be returning. If you want the long form, strap in. We set up our block with the Shay about 6 months ago. At the time, the sales rep was kind and flexible. After we signed, she became note difficult to get in touch with unless I emailed and called simultaneously. At the end she started to be more helpful and helped reopen room blocks, but I assume that's because we had more and more people wanted to book. However, when some of guests went to book, they noted that booking direct from the hotel's website and outside of the room block, was cheaper than our room block. When I first brought this up to the sales rep, she tried to tell me I was confused and didn't understand, until I shared pictures of the different rates. It was promptly fixed, but this felt underhanded. After this was resolved, we started to discuss where to have an after party and despite some apprehension, we settled on their roof top restaurant that was open until 2am because it was convenient. We got pricing for their private space and it was more than we wanted to spend. So we asked if they could make us a reservation for 12 at 11:30. After making the reservation, they called us shortly after and told they would be changing their hours to close at midnight. This felt like a strong arm tactic to get us to rent the private space so we canceled the reservation but the private space could remain open. We provided welcome bags to the front desk to hand to our guests so that they could get their transportation plans and other thank you favors. This is a service they charge for. None of them were passed out. When I asked the manager about this, she said it was our fault for being last minute and not having their room numbers listed on them. We were never given their room numbers and went back to the front desk and labeled each of the remaining bags. When talking to the manager about this, it came up that there was a charge for $132 charge on our room for lunch at a restaurant. We did not dine at the restaurant. We talked to them about it they said they would investigate. I checked with them the next morning and they said they still needed to look into it. And they said that they still hadn't determined if it was us or not. I told them I would not be paying for it and that I needed to check out. They removed the charge after that. Now to the rooms, my now father in laws room had a broken coffee maker, my friends room had a sink that the sink stopper would get stuck if used and the "premium" suite we booked was full of dents, scuffs, cracked drywall and water stains. Pictures are included. When I talked to the manager about these, she asked if we caused them. When we were checking out, my sister had an earlier check out than we did so she asked if she could leave her bags at the front desk so she could have brunch with us and they told her she could leave them outside. So she brought them back up to our room. When we were ready to check out, we requested a bell boy so that we could check out and it took 30 minutes. Last as I write this and am checking with my guests, they are letting me know that my aunt was charged for additional lunches. She is calling now to dispute them.

Yelp
Stayed her for my anniversary weekend and was extremely unhappy with my stay. First, it was extremely loud (even though they said 6th floor was quiet) they were wrong. Loud elevators, doors slamming, lots of yelling, and heard kids crying. Let's just say sleep wasn't very enjoyable. They provided a bottle of champagne and truffles. But it was poorly executed my husband had other requests they did not even follow. I emailed them And they did not care to fix issue and said well you stayed on the government rate and i should be happy the room was discounted. And btw my husband was on government business/travel he is on call at all times. Even during holidays including our anniversary.

Yelp
Epic hotel in a convenient location with amazing staff. Parking is valet only and there's a sweet rooftop bar. Absolutely loved everything about this hotel. Thanks for making my stay in LA awesome!

Mai N.

Yelp
Love this cute little boutique hotel that is now part of the Hyatt portfolio. Service was great and so was the room. Location was fantastic as well. Tons of great eats around. I love having a nespresso maker in the room. Etta, the on site restaurant was fantastic! We had breakfast, brunch, and dinner there! You got blue bottle across the street, sweet greens, and Bianaca's for there amazing pastries! The gym had peloton bikes and the roof top pool was nice and relaxing! The premium suite with balcony is a must! I also love the fat that once you check in, you can text a number for any request you may have!

Yelp
We haven't even arrived and I'm already impressed with the customer service from Brittany at the front desk. After an already stressful trip delayed by weather, Brittany reassured us that we'd have no issues with a very late check in or with traveling with my ESA animal. Also, somehow when I booked through my phone it made two reservations without my knowledge. Brittany was way ahead of it and informed me of the accidental double booking and fixed the issue without even having to ask. I appreciate her attention to detail and genuine kindness. She's helped make this as stress free as possible and we appreciate it. Will continue to update this review once we check in and are able to comment on our overall stay but as of now, we are impressed! Looking forward to celebrating my birthday at the Shay. Edit #1: Check in was a breeze! They had someone (I unfortunately forget her name but she was wonderful) waiting upfront around our ETA and she greeted us by name. The valet was also very polite and kind. Everything was quick and seamless. They were also able to accommodate our quiet room request. Brittany and Jackson left the cutest surprise in our room with a personalized and thoughtful card. This was really above and beyond what was expected. There's a lot of co-working spaces in the lobby if you need to work remote during your stay. Pros: - I already love how convenient this location is. There's an Equator coffee (my favorite) in the same plaza as well as multiple workout spots (solid core, Mayweather boxing, core power around the corner) and restaurants nearby. If you take the subway there's a stop right outside the hotel. - Shower pressure and temperature (it gets hot and stays hot) - Space: there plenty of room for 2 people. It feels about the size of our NYC studio apartment Cons: - Valet is $50/night so be prepared and plan ahead. There doesn't seem to be a lot of street parking options. Edit #2: - We checked out with no issues. Overall great stay and we will be back! - Valet: Pricy at $50/night but great friendly staff, quick and efficient, and unlimited in and out privileges. It was super convenient to not have to worry about street parking. - Food: The egg sandwich from the rooftop restaurant was delicious. Etta was easy to get seats at the bar Friday night and was a fun atmosphere. Food was good, not great, and pricy (I.e. $20 for 4 oysters, so $5/oyster). There's a lot of restaurants within walking distance to check out too. Morning coffee options: There's a Nespresso and pods in every room (2 flavors, 1 decaf option). Equator and Blue Bottle (in the platform) are a short 2-4 minute walk away. The upstairs restaurant probably has coffee too but we didn't try it. You're also 15 minutes to Santa Monica and 20 min to Venice for all the good spots out there. We went to Gjusta twice for breakfast and loved it.

Yelp
Exceeded all expectations! The Shay gave us an all-around incredible hospitality experience. Everything was impeccably clean, beautifully designed, and welcoming. The staff were exceptionally accommodating and even gave us complimentary champagne and chocolates to celebrate our anniversary. Every person from guest services to wait staff to the pool attendant treated us warmly and provided top-notch customer service. Celestina offered delicious poolside cocktails and the food and Etta was fantastic. We genuinely could not be more pleased with our stay and hope to come back again soon!

Yelp
Quite honestly, wasn't going to leave this review until I read how the owner responded to my friends review. I stayed here for my friends wedding and quite honestly I know how much time and effort they invested to making the wedding run as smooth as possible. So I was surprised to find several aspects of the wedding not going as planned. As being part of the bridal party I knew the attention to detail my friend and his wife went through to make it all happen. And was gobsmacked to read the business owner's response his hotels failure to deliver on what was promised by deflecting any wrong doing and blaming my friend is appalling. (Honestly, why are you in the hospitality business). I sincerely hope you and this hotel can learn from these criticisms, because from what I can tell it's seems more common than it needs to be for a hotel positioned to be upscale/boutique. I would just like to point out, the handful of employees I interacted with were decent , but seeing how they responded to criticism when my friend brought up the mistakes and now how the business owner responds SPEAKS VOLUMES. I stayed in one of the rooms with a patio and the room was decent but we had plumbing issues and had to call to get the sink drained out because it wasn't working properly. And we're instructed not to close the drain or it would happen again. $500/night for this!? YIKES! The "discounted" rates we paid for the rooms we got were needless to say -- not worth it. Also they double charged me for valet parking when I only had 1 car. So you need to be careful to see what they are charging you... All I can say is I unless you're just going to the restaurants (the rooftop bar/restaurant was pretty cool) or if you have no where else to stay; I would avoid this establishment. Service: 2/5 Cleanliness: 3/5 Upkeep: 1/5 Value: 1/5 Business owner: -1/5

Yelp
I didn't stay at the hotel during my visit but I definitely will come back. I just came to eat at the restaurant-the food was a true delight. Despite the bustling atmosphere at valet due to a event, Ashley's handling of the situation was commendable. She managed the busy flow with remarkable efficiency, ensuring a smooth and timely parking process for everyone. She was not only prompt and courteous but also displayed an impressive level of professionalism. The convenience of seamless drop-off and pickup made my visit stress-free. Overall, an excellent valet service that I highly recommend for its efficiency and customer-centric approach.

Yelp
The SHAY- I was your first globalist, love that. 10********** my new family, that's how I was treated, they love me! So I started to writing my review hoping it would be the first but by now I'm sure I am not. It turned into a book so I had to shorten it to a paragraph. SO MANY GREAT PEOPLE, I really feel like I have become part of their families. Our room was absolutely incredible, it was so hip, great vibes, and, it had a beautiful balcony. The rooftop pool was one of my favorite things, stunning! You are able to get small bites and cocktails up there, the staff is amazing. Soon the restaurant will be open. The lounge bar was good to get a cocktail and to sit and enjoy the fireplaces. There's also a room that has a pool table and the lobby, is beautiful? etta, short for Henrietta and the chef is award winning. We ordered a few things that we thought were OK, the best part was the brussels sprouts with the sauce on the side so we could dip it, yum. We love the terry cloth robes. Hyatt you really should do something special for all of these family members, they are dedicated and eager to please; Ashley you were who I spoke with and in person you are even better. Cynthia Brittney Azalia Tevin Wilmer Daiji Jackson -etta Kelly Lexie -Café Lexie (restaurant Mgr, love her) Jack Housekeeping Makita George Needless to say; I WILL BE BACK! I WOULD RECOMMEND.

Yelp
Loved staying here. Stayed here for a couple of days with my dog and had a restful couple of days. The interior is so nice and is so well decorated. The restaurants on site are really enjoyable as well. Check-in took a little time as they were having computer issues but the hotel staff all around were super nice and extremely helpful. Loved the rooftop bar Celestina it was so yummy we had tacos, burritos, guacamole & chips, and drinks. It was a perfect sunny day to enjoy a meal by the heated pool. Everything was wonderful! The rooms again are really well appointed spacious and the bed was heavenly and was super clean. The hotel is in a super walkable neighborhood with tons of shops restaurants & parks. Cannot wait to return!

Yelp
This is a brand new hotel in Culver City. Hotel stuff very friendly and helpful. I had a room in 3rd floor. It was really nicely decided and cozy. Bed was amazing. They also have a really nice rooftop bar. It wasn't open for business but when it does I'll definitely book it again.

Yelp
Something delicious and alive in Culver City besides Akasha ( the best) great staff, delicious food and great people watching... and they let my well behaved Dog / God in...so there's that

Yelp
This review is for the rooftop pool/bar, and without Amanda (I'm guessing the manager?) I'd give 3 stars at best, but Amanda totally deserves 5 stars. We got resort passes for the pool and were told at the front desk to go upstairs and see the pool ambassador at the podium to help get us checked in. We waited at the empty podium for about 5 minutes before we just wandered in and tried to find a spot to post up. Every seat said "reserved" and we weren't sure if that meant reserved for hotel guests or resort pass guests so we went back to the podium to wait. The pool ambassador must have been busy elsewhere, so Amanda saw us waiting and led us to a reserved section. After a few minutes she apologized that she checked with the pool attendant and this section was actually reserved for another group, but we could stay there until the other group came (they never did show). She instructed us to order from our server and have a good time. Servers walked right past us and even avoided eye contact when we tried to get their attention. We ended up having to go to the bar to order drinks and food which resulted in a billing snafu, but Amanda took care of it and was super sweet. She was very accommodating, even delivering and making drinks herself! The pool area itself was very nice, albeit small. Pool is only 3 ft deep which was a tad disappointing too. But the decor and ambience was really beautiful, and aside from our slow service, Amanda made sure we had a good time.

Yelp
This is more for the lobby bar as I haven't stayed at The Shay since I live close by. The bar is a very cool and well equipped place to hang with tons of comfy, cozy and intimate seating throughout the lobby to socialize with fam and friends over top quality libations and very attentive and interesting bartenders (look for Marque - he's delightful). Would also recommend for a causal work colleague meetup as the decor is a little understated eloquence with an exceptionally well curated wine list and spirits list (excellent choices in whisky, rye and bourbon for the Manhattan lovers out there like me). After, head up to the rooftop Canopy Club bar upstairs and enjoy the sunset and some yummy light bites.

Yelp
New Culver City hotel. Rooms are small, but well laid out. Shower has a translucent wall which lets in light but you can't see into the shower from the bedroom. Nice roof top swimming pool, but no hot tub. Unfortunately the pool was closed on one of the days we were there because it was being used for private party. Good thing we were still there the next day, otherwise .... Had a chance to visit the Presidential Suite. Big gathering area with an even larger roof top outdoor patio. Makes sense to stay there if you're having a lot of guests attend a lot of events in your suite instead of renting a number of reception rooms. Just make sure that everything you want or expect in the suite is clearly negotiated in advance.

Yelp
I've been searching for a Hyatt property in LA (gotta get those points) that matches the experience I had at the park Hyatt in Chicago and grand Hyatt in San Diego AND THIS IS IT. Toe at the front desk is amazing and so are the rooms and the rest of the service. I left my backpack in bag check before checking in and it was up in my room within seconds of me arriving. Really delightful and gorgeous space, with a great location.

Yelp
Couldnt sleep due to bumping sound from the elevator the whole night. The view seen from the window is not as great but its in mid LA and I am staying just one night so its fine. It looks like other rooms have patio but mine didnt. I am wondering if they have a room with a bathtub. Brought two bathbombs but couldnt use. They said they would waive the valet fee (this place is valet only) due to inconvenience. However, after a couple of days, I realized that they charged the full $45 for the valet. I was deceived. Toothbrush/toothpaste and slippers were given to a client that was checking in right in front of me but I never got offered.

Yelp
I'm staying at this hotel right now. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and spacious and with modern interior. The service is wonderful, especially at the rooftop restaurant. Also, the rooftop pool is heated, which is great for swimming in the winter. Overall, I'm enjoying my stay here. No complaints.

Yelp
The Shay is a hidden gem! It's located on the top of a hotel and has a pool and beautiful views. The drinks and food are incredible also. I go a drink that was literally on fire! Very cool spot, highly recommend

Yelp
Ok, let's talk about who fucks!!! That's right, I mean really knows how to give it when it's needed!!! It's THE SHAY BABEA!!!!!!!!!!!! So for real, my wife and I were completely saved, saved like a born again, bitch. 6 days before our wedding, we had our other wedding venue (that I will tell you about later) tell us that they will not be able to host our wedding!! Like what the fuuuuuuuuuck???? That's right, 6 days before the wedding date. Luckily, we found The Shay and none other but that tall drink of water, Josh Baca came to our rescue and allowed us to have our wedding with them. We were the first wedding, first party, first anything to happen at The Shay and they were so kind, so accommodating to our terrible situation. We partied, laughed, cried and drank all the drinks. We can't thank The Shay and the whole staff that was a part of our night. Oh and the restaurant in the hotel, Etta, is absolutely the bee's tits! Like huge bee's tits! The food is incredible and is some of the best Italian food in Culver City. Like I said, The Shay, fucks and fucks hard. So go stay with them and eat at Etta!!! Do it! Do it now!!! And then find Josh and give him a big kiss from me!

Yelp
Hidden gem at the rooftop of the hotel. It has views of the Los Angeles city skyline. Full bar with food as well. We just got some chips and guac which were super yummy. We also grabbed a spicy margarita which was great! Our waitress was very nice and helpful.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel with very enjoyable accommodations. Stayed here for a few nights and was impressed with the hotel since it's owned by Hyatt. The hotel is modern, clean, spacious rooms and an overall great vibe. Rooms are spacious with large showers that have great pressure and beds are very comfortable. Great size televisions and good enough room to get ready and not feel cramped in a small hotel room. The technology in the room is just the right amount. Food options are really good. The cafe bar downstairs in the morning/afternoon has great options and delicious coffee choices. The barista during my stay was very friendly and helpful. I did get a chance to try their restaurant, Etta. Don't miss an opportunity to eat here, the pizza is ridiculously good and the drinks are enjoyable as well. My only dislike is the $42 for valet parking. That's a little much. Overall the staff is very friendly and the hotel is just what you would want when paying close to $400 a night.
