What an unforgettable experience at Celine with Frederic. My girlfriend was hesitant to enter because she knew it was an expensive store. But I insisted and so we walked in, were greeted by Frederic in a very friendly manner. We were shocked by the prices of some of the purses, so we waltzed over to the perfumes. Frederic came over to tell us the story behind the scents, including Nightclubbing, which was very interesting. He told us that the perfume designer liked to think of a specific memory and craft a scent out of it. He had us close our eyes and imagine what a nightclub might smell like, smoky and sultry, and then sniff the perfume. My girlfriend was sold on one of the perfumes so he went to the back to get it.
In that moment, my girlfriend had a change of heart! She said she didn't want it and was a little shy about it so I told her she could walk out of the store and I would tell the bad news to Frederic. He came out with the perfume box and I had to let him down gently. He said, no issue at all, and that if she wanted to come back we were welcome any time. I went outside to join my girlfriend and as we were walking, we still smelled the incredible perfume on her. We were intoxicated by it, so she gave me a look and a nod, and I went right back into the store to tell Frederic that we wanted the perfume. She stayed outside, a little embarrassed.
Well, it took a while for me to become registered at Celine and for Frederic to prepare the tax refund paperwork. So eventually my girlfriend came back into the store, and Frederic was so kind as to offer us both champagne! We sipped champagne as we finished up the paperwork. Then we chatted with Frederic for a while to hear his perspective on things like French vs. American culture. He was such a kind and charming person. He treats everyone the same even though it's a high end store. Thank you Frederic for the amazing experience!
