Best Wine Bars in Metro Detroit | Eater Detroit

"Cellar 313 in Grosse Pointe features wine from all over the world but truly shines in its collection of French wines, including nearly two dozen sparking wines. The cozy, warm-hued bistro has a large patio space on Kercheval Avenue for those sunny Rosé All Days." - Serena Maria Daniels

We had an incredible evening at Cellar 313 for after dinner refreshments. The bartenders were wonderful. They were friendly, engaged in conversation, and made us truly feel at home and comfortable. Their black Manhattan is a drink that I personally will be returning for - words won’t do it justice. Stop what you are doing and go there for that drink. Needless to say, we will be returning.

Went here for wine and dinner with a friend and it was wonderful! They have a great patio and ambiance. The service was amazing. Anna was our server and she was so kind and helpful. I would recommend Cellar to anyone looking for a great spot to take a friend, family member, or even for a date night!

Nicole and TJ were so hospitable and helpful in guiding a wonderful wine and dine experience! Excellent menu options and a premier selection of wine. Rock solid espresso martinis to finish 🙌 Will definitely recommend to friends in the area and beyond!

Great atmosphere. Had the charcuterie and cheese board. Lovely presentation. Found a new wine that we really liked. Can't wait to return again and again to make our way through the menu.

Yelp
Very cool ambience, comfortable but super stylish decor. Great liquor selection, wine list, premium to be sure. Nice outdoor patio section. The lobster bites are A MUST! Along with the hotdog. We didn't get the charcuterie but we saw someone order it and it also looks too notch BUT everything else on the menu can be skipped. The pizza and flat bread - tastes like it's frozen and just heated in a microwave style oven. It was a stark difference between lobster bites and hot dog. Cocktails are good but I found it counter intuitive that they give out plastic bottles of water instead of using glasses and a pitcher of water, they use the small one serving seltzers/tonic and other cocktails mixes. There's a lot of needless waste produced throughout the day. The bill: 6 drinks, 10 lobster bites, 1 hot dog, 1 8" pizza was almost $300 boy including tip yet. Could you have a smaller bill? Sure, just order one or two lobster bites per person and have one drink.

Yelp
Oh my GAWD. My cousin and I stopped on a Thursday afternoon for a drink at a new place we hadn't visited. We fell IN LOVE with this little quaint spot! The service, the food, the atmosphere was all amaze balls to us. Anne was great and so was everyone else we came in contact with I ordered lobster bites and let's be honest, I was expecting a fried ball of lobster. I am sooo grateful for what I got instead! A nice piece of toast DRENCHED in butter with huge pieces of lobster on top that was also DRENCHED in butter. I mean REAL BUTTER! If you're looking for a nice little spot with signature drinks and food, THIS IS IT

Yelp
Cellar 313 is in Grosse Pointe Park's Cabbage Patch neighborhood. There is outdoor seating with heating. The interior's ambiance is sophisticated and classic, typical of a fine wine bar. I did not have alcohol, but a high school friend and I split the Lobster Roll ($28). The menu described the Lobster Roll, in part, as succulent Maine lobster trickled with melted butter and lemon served with organic chips. The Lobster Roll was underwhelming. There weren't any large chunks of lobster, and it was light in flavor. The sandwich was already small, but after splitting it in half with my friend, I think I finished it in two bites. Also, the "organic chips" are a bag of Route 11 chips. I like Route 11 chips, but it's not like these were real organic chips made in-house from russet potatoes peeled and cut in the kitchen. Come here for drinks but skip the food and eat elsewhere for dinner.

Yelp
We ordered one bottle of wine, a salad and two lobster rolls. 15 minutes later, the waitress brings out one lobster roll So I wait for the other one so I'm not eating alone 10 minutes after that, she comes out and says we are defrosting more lobster. It'll be a little while. I asked her if she could heat up the lobster roll in the microwave and she said we don't have any microwaves here I asked for a glass for my bottle of water and they said we don't have any glasses only plastic bottles of water We asked for a fork we were given plastic forks After Splitting the one lobster roll that we were given and another one never came out when the waitress came back after five more minutes we just canceled the second lobster roll And then we left I will not go back

Yelp
Flat bread pizza is great. Ambience and nice wine selection. Service good. Very cozy space.

Yelp
I came here over the weekend, and easily procured a seat outdoors. I'm not sure if I was lucky because of the weather (a bit chilly for a summer night), because it was Labor Day weekend, or because COVID has greatly slowed things down, but whatever the reason was we were sat right away. My date and I didn't end up drinking wine the night we went, but we did order a Charcuterie & Cheese Board. It was decent enough. The meats & cheeses were all very good, but my date wasn't happy when the olives came and there was only 1 black olive. And the crackers were all Costco staples, instead of higher end crackers, which is what I was expecting. The bread that came with it was very nice though. We also ordered the Carpaccio, which is thinly sliced beef on a bed of arugula (a TON of it) and topped with olive oil and capers. This was delicious, but the portion was a bit small for $20. We also ordered the Caprese Salad, which was well seasoned with a decadent balsamic glaze on top. I used the bread from our other appetizers to make a small Caprese Sandwich. Lastly we ordered a Cheese Flatbread & a Pizza with a few toppings. Both were both nicely cooked, with a thin crust. I have to say that the price point for the food and beverages were pretty much what one would expect for a place of this caliber, particularly being located in/near Grosse Pointe. So, why only 3 stars? Well, besides being a bit let down on the Carpaccio portion and the crackers & olives, it really was the service that ultimately dropped this from a 4 Star (possible 5) to a 3 Star visit. Our server, who was very nice when she came to our table, was just not checking in with us enough. The place (outdoor tables AND indoors) was extremely slow, so I was taken aback by how little she came around. When I asked her to bring my Coca-Cola with the flatbread she said, "Sure," but then brought it 5 minutes later. When I asked for another Coke she never brought one out. And when I gave her the international sign to bring the check & asked for boxes, it took over 15 minutes for her to actually bring the boxes and get me out of there (the date wasn't going horribly, but I was over it and wanted to dip TF out). So, while she was certainly pleasant when she was around she needed to be less lackadaisical and more speedy in bringing the things I asked for, bringing them at all (i.e., the 2nd Coke), and check in more. Overall I would likely come here again, and will change my review if things are different, but in general I would be prepared to spend an extra 25-35 minutes or more here then you think you will (regardless of how busy they are).

Yelp
What a fantastic wine bar! We were making our way around the Pointes for the evening and the 313 was our final stop of the evening! We made our way to the bar area where we were greeted by the owner. He had some awesome selections of wine which we tasted and ended up enjoying a fantastic Pinot Noir. They often have wine events here and I am really looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
Steven is waiting on us tonight, he's cool, chatty, easy to deal with our chatty and indecisive selves on drink and food orders. My friends settled on the black Manhattan, it's potently strong and was a hard drink for my friends, they babied it for over an hour since it was such an intense drink. Steven was able to make me a virgin mojito and did a stellar job it. My friends had never had it before and like it so much they ordered another two more mojitos with tequila instead of rum. We settled on the Veggie pizza, 2 orders of the White fish spread, Burrata salad, Caprese salad, Lobster roll and all all Cheese charcuterie board. The food menu print was hard to read and definitely need to remove the outdated menus to avoid future confusion about availability. Steven came back to let my friends know there's no burrata, that was on the older menu. They decided on a Caprese salad too. The Caprese salad was nice with the big chunks of buffalo mozzarella, balsamic glaze, arugula mixed with basil bedding. The white fish spread was good, maybe could have used a few more crackers. Definitely made with fish, strong essence of fish in the spread. The lobster roll was good, bun was slightly crunchy and the lobster meat chunks were delicious. Really liked the organic truffle potato chips. The charcuterie board was my absolutely my favorite part of the meal, such a nice blend of Parmesan, manchego and two other domestic cheeses. Loved the Marconi almonds, assortment of antioxidant berries, baguette and dark grain crackers. My friend enjoyed their pizza and Caprese salad too. A bit of confusion with the bill since we had wanted our bills split from the beginning and getting charged for two charcuteries, but we got it all sorted out and a bit of confusion on the all cheese charcuterie versus the meat and cheese charcuterie too, but every issue was quickly addressed and made right. It was a fun and good night, flexible to move from our original seats to the big table for all 4 of us to eat and then returning back to our original seats to allow the next bigger group to sit at our table so they could eat after us. Steven was good to us, attentive and checked up on us to make sure we were all good. It was a good night of food and company.

Yelp
This is an excellent location, the downtown vibe, small plates and designed cocktails make this a great date spot. Spent our 15 year anniversary here and our experience as great.

Yelp
This spot has been on my radar for a while. I finally made it! Upon entering, we were greeted by three young ladies that were behind the bar. Very good first impression!! The inside is sooo cute and such a vibe! I would recommend for a date night or an outing with friends. I would recommend going a little early because it's a small space.. and they were filling up fast. They have outdoor seating as well; however, I'm not sure how long that is going to last. I didn't try the food, we went for drinks. We ordered champagne and it was good! Their drinks are reasonably priced and they have a nice selection of wines and cocktails. People around me ordered food; looked tasty, so I will have to try on my next visit. Lastly, the location is in a cute neighborhood, so you can visit a few other spots in the area.

Judy O.

Yelp
Lobster Bites (new?) are phenomenal. Sidewalk seating is wonderful. Inside looks inviting, have not been indoors....yet. Service is stellar I really can't say anything negative about this small gem in GPP

Yelp
Sat at the bar with a friend, had great friendly service. My friend had the cherry mojito it was AMAZING! I had a blueberry gin cocktail I forgot what it was called but it was also very delicious. We split 6 oysters very fresh and very tasty. I will definitely return great atmosphere

Yelp
I would leave zero if I could. The rudeness of the girl behind the bar was staggering. We went in with a mind to order at least a bottle and charcuterie for two, but drank our two glasses as fast as we could and got out of there. The girl behind the bar had the audacity to answer any question we asked about wines by the glass as "it's not terrible" and then let us know that she only drinks really expensive wine and everything else is garbage to her. It was comically bad "hospitality" and we will NEVER set foot in your establishment ever again.

Donna A.

Yelp
A group of 4 of us went to the Cellar on Thursday. We were taking out of town guests there. We made a reservation online which required a credit card. So we had big plans only to get to the door of Cellar 313 and read "Closed for a Private Event". Our reservation should never have been accepted. It really changed our evening plans completely as we couldn't get seated at any other restaurant without a reservation that evening. Don't think I'll ever make a reservation there again.

Yelp
We had a lovely time here with delicious champagne and really good beef carpaccio and an excellent lobster roll we also had the shrimp cocktail it was really wonderful. Quite a few tables outside and I thought that there wasn't enough service to handle it all. We had to wait quite a while till our waitress came back and gave us our bill. The inside is really small but they have a nice patio, but umbrellas were scarce!
google avatar

Brittany H.

Yelp
What a sexy and sophisticated, new wine cellar! I'm never in Grosse Pointe, so this was a great place to check out. The service wasn't the best but then, I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie, whom I'd assume is the manager and he was spectacular. He recommended some appetizers and some wines. I loved all that was recommended. He ended up being the server of my night. The patio on a summer night is also great to sit at. I'd come back here again and try some other wines and appetizers!
google avatar

Dean V.

Yelp
I like this place. Normally eat outside and have a handcrafted cocktail with a meat and cheese board. A meat and cheese board for two is a lot of food. If you are dining with someone, you might get the one serving and add some flatbread or another item from the menu.

Ivan K.

Yelp
I took my wife there yesterday and waitress Alex actually has us if we could afford the drinks. SMH Ruined the night. Unfortunate.
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
Have enjoyed this place on a few occasions and really want to support it. So when a friend I hadn't seen in a long while suggested it after a function, I was happy to do so. Really wish they would have mentioned that they were closing soon, but instead, blasted "Closing Time" over and over again at very high volume as we were talking and a very smug young man started turning the lights on and off. Very bizarre. Very uncool. They could simply have said that they were closing and skipped the juvenile theatrics. Very disrespectful. Expected more from them.
google avatar

Jon B.

Yelp
Great bartenders, great service. Small menu but they do good great work. Get the flatbread or the charcuterie. We've been lucky to get oysters when they have them. Usually fresh and small sweet ones. If looking for imbibements try a 313 or a Texas Spring Punch. The 313 has a nice luxardo taste that lingers the orange zest taste is nice and subtle. The Texas spring punch is is huge, refreshing and nice and tart.

Yelp
This is the type of place Grosse Pointe needed. It is sophisticated, classy and refreshing. The place is quaint. But let me stress to you how awesome the champagne list is. Being a champagne enthusiast myself, I must say that the options were the most extensive I've ever seen from a bar. My husband and I went here on a Thursday evening and it was moderately busy. We were able to get a table no problem. The service was spot on. The cocktails were priced at $13 but they were fantastic. I tried the French 75 and the bartender did a great job making it. I'd definitely order it again. We didn't try any food. However, the cheese plate sampler dish looked fresh and delicious when a waiter walked by us with one. Overall, this place is a 10/10. It's probably my new favorite GP bar. Cheers!

Yelp
Had private party reservation, all was spectacular. We were a group of 8 women for a 40th celebration. We all had a great time. Staff was accommodating! Thank you. We will be back, minus all of our craziness.

B S.

Yelp
Ambiance was great. Cozy place. Food was good. Service was good too. They were super busy but great people serving and at the bar. We will be back! A gem in the park!

Yelp
Disappointed. Will not return. When you break it down, this is a place to get a glass or bottle of wine. But don't ask it to be much more than that. The food selection is 1) an overpriced and sad Trader Joe's Charcuterie platter (but not even TJ's good cheeses or crackers), and 2) a flatbread pizza I didn't try. That's about it. ‍ Now I'm fine with a business leaning into a single idea/vision, but what I can't give a pass to is terrible service and food that doesn't match the price. Some advice for the owners: Charcuterie platters do not take 40 minutes to make, especially when there are only 4 people in the entire place. Also, when you do bring a platter, please train your servers to "describe the dish." This is the ONLY place I have ever ordered a full meat, cheese, etc platter where the server just dropped it off at the table and left. ‍ Did we have a strange and rare experience that is far from the excellence and norm this place delivers? Can't say. But overall we were disappointed and will not return.

Yelp
Yum, yum. Yum, yum, yum! Delightful spot in the Park offering a wide selection of excellent wines. Have lingered over bold, crisp, buttery & interestingly different wines numerous times and always enjoyed ourselves. They make a helluva good Old Fashioned and other craft cocktails as well. Wonderful charcuterie boards also available. Cozy & welcoming. Sorry I haven't written a review before now. Really great spot.

Antoinette C.

Yelp
Owner extremely rude, denied service with real Michigan ID! This is my second time at this establishment. I brought my sister who is 21 years old. As it is his discretion to deny service- we offered to show other legal forms of identification. Mind you, these were ENHANCED Michigan state ID's! Also, we were not greeted. We sat at the bar and the first thing that was yelled at us In an empty bar was, "ID's" Never again. Took our business to Luxe instead. Bigger and better atmosphere. Kitchen is open later, along with way more options! I recommend trying other businesses before going to Cellar 313. A

Madelyn S.

Yelp
The drinks were delicious with a plentiful selection. Small, cozy shotgun style seating that creates a warm energy over all. I am looking forward to going back!

Wandering F.

Yelp
I've meant to visit this place for a long time; my goodness, why did I ever wait? The selection of wines is excellent and the menu options are absolutely first rate. The mushroom pizza had a fantastic depth of flavor, the Caprese with heirloom tomatoes and balsamic was pure perfection. In the somewhat lackluster Park restaurant scene, this place shines! I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Karen H.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of patronizing this fantastic little gem. Absolutely adorable decor - somewhat eclectic, somewhat industrial (aviator table/ desk.. locally made, I think! Aviator barrel chairs amazing!) but very posh & glam for such a little joint. Had a bottle of Pinot Noir (shared, of course).... very nice, fair pricing. But, it is the atmosphere that will have me coming back. So HAPPY it is so close to home.

Yelp
Decided to finally try this place after finding it online and everything was perfect! I picked up some of the short rib dinners for my parents and family and everyone absolutely loved them! Each dinner came with a bottle of wine that paired perfectly with it. So glad I finally stopped in here and can't wait to try more items on their menu!

Anne J.

Yelp
Went here for the first time with 3 other people. When I arrived my group had already ordered the oysters and they arrived as soon as I sat down. They smelt of raw trash and salt, so all 4 of us decided to not eat them out of concern. We politely sent them back and the owner came out and asked us what was wrong. We all said they did not smell right and we did not want to risk food poisoning over them and that we did not feel comfortable eating them. The owner, after trying to tell us how long he took to shuck them and we should eat them, walked away and went back to the kitchen, only to return with the tray we sent back. He then said to us "I hope you don't mind if I eat my supper here" and proceeded to eat all the oysters we sent back in front of us. He then verbally insulted various members of our party. I understand he was trying to prove a point in his mind, but this was the most unprofessional thing I have ever witnessed, and I've worked in restaurants for the last 10 years. This was the worst experience I have ever had with an owner and I do not recommend this place at all. We didn't finish what we had previously ordered, I never received a drink, and we paid the bill and left. I hope Mr Charlie Brown enjoyed his supper.

Jim R.

Yelp
Great vibe, great drinks, and wine selection charcuterie board was fantastic clean friendly attentive staff can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Always wanted to try it. Finally made the effort. A 10 minute walk from my house to discover this gem in my neighborhood. I was greeted by a hospitable and refined hostess who was offering wine tasting. As it turns out she was their distributor. Tasted 2 whites and 4 reds; delicious and delicate wines at a amazing low price. Being offers on sale by the bottle I stocked up, loved the Bordeaux and Pino Noir. Then sat down with my son and we both enjoyed a classy and yet warm ambiance, and yes had some more terrific wine. Ventured into the Beef Carpaccio which was one the best ever, tender meat, mild seasoning and olive oil, arugula and cheese shavings, yum. Then our main was a lobster roll with brioche bred and a side of truffle chips. A hit for us. Done just right west of Maine :) Finally we went for the chocolate assortment for desert. So flavorful, delicate and not overwhelming with sugar; just right; my favorite was the cheese and chocolate over a biscuit, ate it as slow as I could because did not want it to end! This will be my regular spot. Love wine and a refined snack? Then join me as a regular at this neighborhood Gem!

Yelp
I'm so happy we have a wine bar in Grosse Pointe that has such a great wine selection and delicious food. The lobster roll is such a great addition to the menu and it's a great one at that. I think it's so awesome that cellar 313 hosts weekly events like wine tasting and other pop up dinners and tastings. Can't wait for my next visit

Yelp
It was our 1st time here & all I can say is we were incredibly disappointed. The service was terrible, our server was so rude & unfriendly, it was actually offensive!!! We should of just walked out & went somewhere else, like Red Crown or Luxe, instead of spending the $150 here. We had an 8pm reservation, she told us it was last call for the kitchen as soon as we sat down, why take an 8pm reservation, make 7:30 your last reservation? They also sent a text asking us to come earlier because of weather, that I didn't see because we were @ an event before hand. Clearly they just wanted to get out of there & not work. I've never received a text asking to come earlier to a reservation because of weather, the weather wasn't even bad, so strange? The owners of this business should really do a better job hiring the people who represent their business. Big mistake picking this place, my friends & I in the area will not be returning.

Yelp
This place is beautiful and the food is amazing. The drinks are top notch. The charcuterie plate is the best I've ever had. The bathrooms are spectacular too (if you're into that).

Jill G.

Yelp
Cozy meets cool at Cellar313. An incredible wine list with an amazing menu from their kitchen (charcuterie, lobster rolls, allllll the cheeses!) Perfect for date night.
google avatar

Kelley V.

Yelp
A beautiful, sophisticated place to take a special person on a beautiful day. Wine options are extensive the cocktails are delicious. I love the Charcuterie & Cheese platter is one of the best have ever had. Worth every penny.
google avatar

Celeste B.

Yelp
The atmosphere is great- super unique for the area. I would recommend going on a date there. My main complaint was the price... but again it makes sense in that area. The wine and cocktail list were extensive. I didn't love either wine I tried but my friends whiskey sour was really good and had wine in it!! It's worth going to check out! I would go back for pre-dinner drinks sometime!

Rhea Y.

Yelp
I'll start with the good. The place has a nice outdoor patio. The drinks were good and pretty strong. The food was decent as well. The part that disappointed me is that the prices on the menus we were given did not match the prices when the check came. Each lobster roll was $4 more than the stated price. Each of our drinks were $2 more than the stated price. The flatbread was also more than the stated price. When I asked about this, I was told that they had recently raised the prices but were still working on updating the menus. When I asked to have the bill revised to what was stated on the menu, they said they couldn't do that. Also, when we asked for water, they brought three Fiji water bottles. When I asked for tap water, they said they didn't have enough glasses. (There was only one other table there at the time and this is a bar in Michigan. Not Europe.) I really want to like the place but don't really appreciate being overcharged when the place wasn't cheap to begin with.

Aida Y.

Yelp
Love this place!! Great wines and tapas are amazing!!! Not to mention the service. The staff is absolutely knowledgeable and eager to help you pick your choice of wine.

Kyle V.

Yelp
The stingiest pours if you buy by the glass, so it's probably worth just getting bottles. It was good wine, though, and I really enjoyed the food - especially the burrata salad. The atmosphere is nice, too (except for the giant tv in the back).

Denise A.

Yelp
I so badly wanted to love this place - and would have if the owner had any idea about how to treat his customers. I spent more than $70 enjoying a lovely evening with a friend only to be told to take my second drink in a plastic cup so that he could put another party (and table) in our space. I was there an hour and service was slow so I was waiting on a second drink. He had other options - at least 2 empty tables. He could have politely asked us if we were wrapping up, or suggest that we move to another spot if he needed the space for 4. He was arrogant, disrespectful and clearly does not care about cultivating long term clientele. He informed us that there was a time limit at the table (first we were told about this). How would I know? We ordered from our phone and were never told. Does the time run out even as you're waiting on your order? There were others there before us, and he didn't see bothered by them. What a turn off. You're just a suburban wine bar. Get over yourself.

Katelyn F.

Yelp
This place has a really great vibe to it and is very unlike any other place within the Grosse Pointe area. I like the decorations and furniture inside- very classy. It's worth a try. Plus, they have a decent food selection to accompany wine.
