"Nearly a year after its closure, Irish pub The Celtic Knot has announced plans to reopen in the former home of Lush restaurant. Owners Liz and Patrick Breslin say fans can expect a smaller, cozier space and a slimmed-down menu, but promise they hope to recreate the pub’s lively atmosphere with live music and a crew of regulars." - Naomi Waxman

Very happy the reopened Celtic Knot is finally here! Stopped in for a Guinness and take out. Looking forward to next time. (Check the recent menu pics for pricing! The Google menu looks like it's showing the pricing from before)

New location is fantastic, super excited to have an Irish pub on central street. Food is great, my wife and I loved our fish and chips, burger, and beers - all very high quality. Lovely interior that's comfortable in the winter and I'm excited to see it in the summer as well.

The Celtic Collection is a tasty sampler of some of the best things on the menu! Wash it down with a pint of Smithwicks and you're good to go.

We came here to enjoy the fabled burger of this establishment and by golly were we blown away. This was so delicious and the soup? we cleared the entire thing. Such a good burger, beautiful service and our lovely waitress Janiah took such good care of us. Everyone here is wonderful. I will be returning and enjoying another yummy burger very soon.

Great new iteration of the Celtic Knot in Evanston. Congratulations! Food is phenomenal - worth the trip for the chips alone ("fries"). Fish and chips are solid, corned beef tasted great, and a lovely shepherds pie. Guinness is a staple and Barry's Tea is a great touch. Can't wait to come back for the breakfast - everything coming out of the kitchen looked great. Knot to be missed!

Be advised - 3 percent service charge. They told me this is to recoup "losses to restaurants during the pandemic." This is odd because they were closed throughout the pandemic, as they were re-established in 2024. Food and service are good. But restaurants received funds during the pandemic for their losses. I don't understand why this is passed on to customers who already experienced their own losses during the pandemic. :((

I used to patronize the original Celtic Knot in downtown Evanston back in the day, so was super excited to see them reopen up north here on Central. It’s great! Food is delicious and great ambience. A wonderful addition to the Central Street corridor!

The new location is fantastic. Really feels like a pub from at home in Ireland. The drinks and food were great and the atmosphere felt really organic. An Irish pub should be a pillar in Evanston and no doubt Patrick and Liz will make this a huge asset to the city. Beautiful interior

Yelp
Begorah! What a palace?! Came for lunch today. First time. The brown bread is moist and flavorful. Many (most) places "Irish" food is awful. Dry. No taste. NOT here! The lamb stew is awesome. The corned beast?! Moist, great seasoning. Fish n chips! Excellent. And fabulous burgers. As good Irish food as I've found. Some people think Irish food and British food suck. And a lot of places it does. Cause it's not made right. Celtic Knot does it right!

Yelp
The ambiance, food and service are wonderful. The owners, Liz and Patrick, are very genial. The pub has a homey feeling and it is what I envision an Irish Pub truly is like!

Yelp
I know the people of Evanston are super excited this place has reopened. The customers even paid into a fund to help them reopen which is astonishing in itself. With that said, the minimum you can do is not serve frozen French fries as "chips". The atmosphere is excellent! I had the Lamb Stew. Decent portion but very bland. My sisters raved about the corned beef. If you're looking for a few pints and some Irish food this place will get the job done.

Yelp
We went to the new location and I had a fried chicken sandwich. I have never had a more greasy & tough piece of meat! I could not cut it with a knife!! The bun was soggy, unripe tomato, loads of lettuce. I could not finish the chicken because it was so tough and greasy. My companion had a burger, med that was ok. The chips were good. Not sure what I can get next time that would be good, but will try once more and hope for better food. Someone also commented on how long it took just to get a beer on tap! Not impressed tho the ambiance was good.

Yelp
Back to balance in the public house universe! Reopening across town, back strong from the predatory commercial real estate developers. Feel like justice for us, lead by Liz and Pat! YAY!!

Yelp
So happy to have "The Knot" back and open on Central Street. Week one and already busy being welcomed to the neighborhood. Come support a decades long Evanston gem! Many great Irish whiskeys to tempt your flavor palate too!

Yelp
I want to give 2 1/2 to 3 stars Pros Location, Shepard's Pie Fish and chips Chips with curry sauce Cons Service is incomplete - asked for a cup of coffee not asked for cream or sugar Was brought coffee black coffee . I had to ask for cream etc and a spoon Appetizers brought out hot but did not come with plates. Ordered alcohol took awhile to get it Normally that is not the case especially if its beer on tap Going out is expensive so not going to complain however if you want me to pay 85 bucks without tip please be attentive Clean utensils after apps Clear the empty app plates when dinner arrives Explain why drinks are delayed

Yelp
Corn beef and cabbage with potatoes and carrots. The carrots were not even cooked. They may have been dipped in warm water. The cocktails were terrible.

Yelp
Went here with friends Friday night. Nice new location place was packed at 5:00 the young man took our name 40 minute wait but he did let us know that everyone seated came at about same time so it might be less wait time. There is no waiting area and the bar was packed fortunately it was nice out so we decided to walk and mentioned to the host and he was so thoughtful he asked for a phone number to call when table opens up. He did and it was less wait than 40 minutes . Food is excellent and OMG best fried pickles ever so golden and delicious. Everything was amazing the corned beef is tender fish and chips were cooked to perfection and bangers and mash awesome the lamb stew was good meat tender and flavorful but I think maybe they put nutmeg in not sure but it didn't work for me. I loved this place it was warm and inviting the entire staff was attentive and friendly and all around great place. There is no place to wait and that's why only 4 stars cause in cold weather the no wait area could be problematic. Please check this place out you can tell they put real love and care from the food to the servers to the host. Excellent and definitely try the fried pickles!!! This is now one of my regular places!!!!

Yelp
Great to see the Knot back in action - loved the location, the fish and chips made the transition safely , friendly service and nice selection of beers!

Yelp
They are back and boy it feels good! We were there on the first Saturday night in the new spot on Central Avenue. The food is just as good as before and the owners have upped the quality of the presentation. Several of the staff from the prior location have returned and their experience shows. Nice vibe, ample bar area and not too loud for as full as the restaurant was. A great restaurant has returned to Evanson.
