I really wanted to love this place, the horchata was great, the guac on point, the location is awesome, but their main thing, the cemita, (Mexican Burger/sandwich) was not that great. The cemita had too much bread for what is actually inside the burger and not to mention, all that bread overpowers the flavor. The chicken was also a little cold and the rice and beans weren't very fresh. Almost had that microwave taste. The place was empty that evening (literally the only person there) so I thought maybe my food would come out with a little more extra love but sadly I didn't even finish my meal.

This is a great little hole in the wall. The decor may be bit trendy, the music a bit fast, and the crowd a bit yuppy, but the food screams traditional. The chicken tacos are nicely filled with smokey, spicy goodness. They are simply put... Delicious. And speaking of simple, that's exactly what they are... Simple... Simple arrangements made up of meat, and tortilla; a little onion and cilantro on top, with a few lemon wedges on the side and that's it. There's no useless fluff like lettuce or tomatoes, or cheese and sour cream. And for good reason; because the last thing you want is some useless mediocre incredient coming in and stealing the spotlight. We want Mariah, not Miley. These tacos are only filled with "Mariah". No Miley here. And these tacos have a range of flavors comparable to Mariah's vocal range in "without you". They are spicy, tangy, subtle, and deep. Stop in and find out for yourself. Enjoy! Also, the pico and chips are excellent.

Great service—from the cashier to the person going around the space asking if everything was okay and collecting dishes. Scrumptious food—had the Cemitas Milanesa, a sandwich with breaded pork loin, not greasy at all, well put together, simple ingredients made the meat the hero in the taste.

Google
Got the milanesa cemita and it will fill you up. Lots of cheese and guac and the pork was tasty. The guac and chips are definitely worth checking out too. Tacos were solid as well.

Google
The cemitas in this place are first of all HUGE. Additionally they are quite different than the nyc Mexican food truck kind. The bread is actually really fresh and amazing. I got the cemita atómica which comes with 3 meats and I thought it was too much. The meat tasted good but I think I would have liked it more with only one of the meats. The reason I am giving 3 stars is not because of the food (which I liked), but because when I went here, after I had ordered and watched the cashier/cook person assemble my food with no gloves on, and ate the cemita, I had returned to wait on line and order a drink when I realized the person who was taking my order and making the sandwhich was what I can only describe DEATHLY sick with the flu or a major cold. She was coughing non stop. I wish I would have noticed this before I ate the sandwich but since there was no one in line when I first went up I did not notice how sick she was. Please have your employees stay home when they are sick....

Google
Yummy pork milanesa on a heavy sesame bun. Baby had chiliquiles they were so good. Ordered a side of pico de gallo, nice add on to flavor it all up. Will return.

Google
Delicious! So filling! Worth the money and the trip! They had menus on the tables that made me think it was a sit down but you have to go and order at the register. Not enough light to my liking. It was cloudy and dim inside

Google
Easily one of the best burgers i had while staying in chicago, plus the some of the friendliest staff. Wish this place was back home so I could eat it all the time

Yelp
On the pricier side but excellent tacos. Much better than most. If you love tacos like me its definitely worth the money and worth the visit because great tacos are surprisingly hard to find. Staff are friendly. Ordering was quick and easy and you get a buzzer but they usually bring the food to you.

Yelp
I went to the bucktown location a few times before it closed and this was my first time at the newly opened west loop location! Tacos were great as usual. I got the duck carnitas and governador, which was a bit different than i remembered. On Tuesdays they have a deal of 2 tacos, rice and beans, a drink, and churros for about $21 which was a great deal! The beans/ rice was a small portion, but the churros were huge and very airy and fresh. I just wish they served them with chocolate instead of icing. Overall still great, I liked the ambiance and uniqueness of the previous location better, but glad they still have a spot!

Yelp
Ambiance - casual, offers indoor and outdoor seating, open seating - you order and find your own table Service - tacos took about 10-15 min Food - asada taco was 10/10 (juicy and well marinated steak), al pastor was well marinated but on the drier side

Yelp
Very tasty food! Excellent variety and combination of interesting flavors. Since moving to this new location, there are plenty of seats indoor and outdoor. You order at the counter and then pick it up when it's ready. Servers were friendly. I would give it 5 stars but it's really pricey. Nice for a special treat!

Yelp
Went to Taqueria Chingon while I was in town, I got a couple different tacos and they were delicious. The service and ambiance are nice, it's a new location so they were painting a beautiful mural on the wall while I was there. I'd recommend this spot and also recommend trying something different!

Yelp
I'm used to paying $4-$5 for a taco, so when I saw prices ranging from $6-$9 at Taqueria Chingon, I expected the quality to match--and to my pleasant surprise, it did. The duck taco was a standout, with a great balance of flavors: sweetness from the orange, a kick from the salsa, and tender, juicy duck. I also really enjoyed the al pastor, which came with pineapple and was full of flavor. The only one I'd skip next time is the carne asada. While the steak was nicely cooked and tender, the flavor fell a bit flat compared to the others--it was the only taco I felt needed salsa. Overall, definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
We order uber eats all the time, this is a must if you live in Chicago. Wednesdays the crunch wrap supreme dupe. My husband exclaimed "this is the best thing I've ever eaten." For context, he never says this and usually has nothing to say about his food other than "pretty good." The tacos all slap and the quality protein is appreciated. Flavors are always spot on never overdone or using spices that overpower one another. It's a clear winner and even when delivered holds up very well as the packaging is elite!

Yelp
Thank GOD they're back & thank GOD they're closer. I challenge anyone to find something that taste better than their duck taco for $8. Arguably the cheapest & best bite in the city for the price. Shrimp taco was decent but doesn't hold a candle to the duck. There's a Crunchwrap special available on Wednesday but it too failed in comparison to the duck. They have delivery & when dining in they'll text you when your order is ready

Yelp
The BEST tacos in the city - and we've tried a lot of tacos. My only complaint is that I wish their old location on Western was still open because it's closer to my house! Definitely get the pastor and the asada (cooked to medium rare perfection). Homemade tortillas and you can taste that difference! They make the guacamole fresh and it's got a little spice! Check out their taco Tuesday special if you want the most bang for your buck.

Yelp
Great to see their amazing food available again. Loved the shrimp, duck, and artichoke tacos.

Yelp
Hey there back, ohh! They moved from Western Ave. in Bucktown which closed in November. I had a Agua Frescas. The staff and service are chingonriffic.

Yelp
Came for the taco tues deal - 2 tacos, half n half beans & rice, drink, churros. The tacos themselves had really great flavor - much more "authentic" taste than the average overpriced Gentrified Tacos restaurant in this city. That being said, the plate itself was kind of overpriced. The size of the drink and side were definitely on the smaller side and not the usual serving if purchased a la carte. The churros were comically massive but basically fried oil sticks. Everything was quite oily - I am currently writing this while being on and off the toilet for the past 2 hours Have to mention really friendly and helpful staff.

Yelp
I had three tacos plus a drink and chips for $34. Extremely pricey. I had a duck taco al pastor and a carne asada. Duck taco, horrible. Negative 10 out of 10. Al pastor, very dry. Negative 5 out of 10. Steak, pretty good. 8 out of 10. Nothing special of a place. I took a 20 minute ride here. Not worth it.

Yelp
Support the locals specially new findings! Seems like it's a great location for their great food.
