Ybor Centennial Park is bordered by a brick breezeway on the east and the Ybor Art Studio on the west, and it sits in about the geographic middle of Ybor City. This little park / plaza can be found between 8th and 9th Avenues, between 18th and 19th Streets, and directly across the street from one of the City's pay parking lots.
Statues in the park pay homage to the influential leaders and founding fathers of Ybor City, and the nearby signage will tell you all about the City's history. On a normal day, this clean park is the resting place of many of the City's homeless. Nothing objectionable, just folks who are down on their luck, and looking for a quiet place to sit in the shade. There are public restroom facilities and a small fountain in the park, but I've never observed anything that would make me uncomfortable.
This park is the site of many of Ybor City's famed Cuban sandwich, art, cigar festivals, and the weekly Ybor City Farmer's Market, so don't be surprised if you spot vendors offering their goods at little tables set up all around the perimeter on various weekends. Lots of people will park their cars in the City's metered lot across the street, and then walk over to the James Joyce Pub, or to the start of the TECO Streetcar System, and then wander through the Park at the end of their day.
Oh, and let's not forget the roosters.... they wander freely through the park, and will start crowing whenever they feel like it. Makes for some very funny moments when they sneak up behind you.
Ybor Centennial Park is a great place to walk around and learn a bit more about Ybor City while catching a bit of shade, and using the restroom before the ride home.
