The Centennial Square Christmas lights display in Victoria, BC, is a dazzling spectacle that adds a vibrant glow to the heart of the city during the holiday season πŸŽ„ The square transforms into a festive wonderland with an array of brilliantly illuminated decorations, creating a festive ambiance for residents and visitors alike. The carefully arranged lights, from twinkling trees to captivating installations, contribute to the joyful spirit of the season 🌟. The combination of the charming cityscape πŸŒ† and the radiant holiday lights makes Centennial Square a delightful destination to experience the magic of Christmas in Victoria.

Went by to see the lights that were put up for Christmas, and was somewhat underwhelmed. While there are some gorgeous displays, I think the display could have been choreographed much better. There was no flow to these decorations. Next year they should higher an artist to plan it for them.

Great view of Christmas lights! Creative , captivating and beautiful to see it at the evenings! On the regular days, this is a great place with good architecture and gives a vibe!

In general, it has been a challenge to keep this area safe but the city is at least trying harder lately for certain outdoor events. If you're in the area during December evenings, the place is a marvel with wonderful light displays and music bringing the holiday cheer.

On a bright beautiful sunny Easter Sunday few people at #YYJ_Centennial Square: wafting of marijuana, competing loud bluetooth rap/70s rock... guy searching the ground for his hit, crack pipe-smoking ... Certainly not what it use to be. It would be nice to have diverse community-oriented events that are inclusive for the whole family. Alas, not anytime soon. Tourists and visitors: avoid this area evenings & nights. Can be "iffy" when alone, some aggressive regulars and youths. It's got a beautiful fountain, awesome location, sunny open-space with spillover from nearby Pandora Street redzone It could be a great space, unfortunately it no longer is :(. Planned festivals and community events can take this space back for use and enjoyment of the whole community.

Just visited the Lights of Wonder...what a disappointment! Hardly any lights at all, very basic displays and looks amateur. To top it off, a large group of street people camped out under the giant Christmas tree, smoking dope and fighting/shouting profanities at people. Amazing how our mayor and council continue to allow these people to be above the law. Great impression for tourists. πŸ˜”

In 1963, the 100th birthday of Victoria was marked by the creation of Centennial Square. It's right next to heritage City Hall and was on the way during one of the walks that Gayle and I took through Victoria. The square features 60s modern design with fountain, benches and curved steps, surrounded with trees and planters. Then there's the McPherson Playhouse, the police station, a parkade and specialty shops, a senior citizen's centre and a sunken 'Knot Garden' , all arranged around this public Centennial Square. It is also home to Summer in the Square, and Ice Skating rink in the Winter, and occasional Occupy-like protests.
