Centennial Steakhouse

Staying in the hotel so walking downstairs for dinner was a huge plus… popped in and sat at the bar two nights in a row and our bartender Jeremiah was super - friendly, attentive and quick… Jeremiah’s Lemon Drops are a must have! So good… between me and hubby from both nights we had filet, prime rib, garlic mash, tater skins, asparagus, wedge salad and Caesar salad… salads were perfection except for the Parmesan crisps which were rather thick and chewy not crispy… prime rib had good flavor but was riddled with gristle… garlic mash was very garlicky but hubby liked it… filet was good but overdone… blue cheese for my filet was oddly dry and roasted… asparagus was very salty… hubbys tater skins were tough and “tired” and I won’t repeat what he said about the cheese… that said, we’d go again if we were there and have some more great cocktails! Thanks Jeremiah!

I was very excited to try Centennial Steakhouse out, but it was a major disappointment. We had to request things from our server (steak knives, our drinks, etc.) only for her to tell us that she thought someone else would have gotten that for us. There definitely seemed to be confusion on who was supposed to be doing what. Our server would then come to our table and complain that she was too busy with her other 3 tables and she needed a break. The sirloin steak was cooked way too long and had to be sawed away. The vegetables and steak both lacked flavor. The salad and bread were definitely the best part.

Some things were ok and some things weren’t. Bread is dry and hard. Scallops were way over cooked. Good soup. Salads… ehhh ok. One particular thing that didn’t make sense was how different in size my father and I’s salmon were… he even asked where the other half of his was and the waitress said that’s just how they are.. Even if that is the case, they could have at least picked the same size salmon for our table LOL My parents and my husband brought me here for my birthday dinner… will not eat here again. We don’t mind paying high dollar for food, but it wasn’t worth it here. Would rather eat at Texas Roadhouse or Chili’s.

I did not go in expecting much, but damn put out some fly traps. There are more flys than customers. Find the rotten maggoty food and clean it up. If you don’t respect your customers enough at least have enough self respect to do it.

It is truly impossible to overstate how bad this meal was. It was literally the worst sit down meal of my life and I eat out 4-5 times per week. The server was utterly incompetent and overwhelmed. She couldn’t keep any of the orders straight. The meal took almost 3 hours and we were constantly having to get up to get something. The soup and salad course took 20 minutes between the first plate served and the last. My salad had several chunks of ice in it. My lamb was ordered medium rare and it was served well done. We had a large party and no one’s meat was cooked correctly. Several meals went uneaten after one bite. No one came to check on us. The manager didn’t even bother helping even after I pulled him aside and asked him to help. I realize it is tough getting good help these days but everyone involved needs to be fired. It was truly disastrous.

Steaks were good, salad and soup were good I especially liked the jalapeno bisque.

Took my sister and her boyfriend on 3/23/24. We were 5 minutes early for a 6:30 pm Saturday night reservation and were seated immediately. Service was terrific, Evelyn was attentive but not intrusive, friendly and polite, a complete pleasure to deal with, and spot on with food and wine questions and recommendations. We started with bacon wrapped jalapeños, which had bacon crisped to perfection and generous cream cheese stuffing. Right as we finished that, the salads came, which were great too. As we were wrapping that up the entrees arrived, so timing all night was perfect, even during prime time on a busy Saturday night. I had the Centennial filet, which has been my go to for years and it was great as it always is. My sister, who had never been before, tried the blackened chicken and loved it. Her boyfriend, who hadn’t been in a long time, said the ribeye was excellent. We finished with a three way split of the chocolate cake and ice cream which was superb too. It was exactly the experience I was hoping for, great atmosphere for quality conversation complimented by delicious food and terrific service.

The staff was welcoming, professional and knowledgeable. My bone-in pork chop with bourbon sauce was very good, hot, perfectly cooked and juicy, although the sauce was a bit too sweet. Wife's prime rib was the mid-rare temp she requested but very dry and underseasoned. There was no au jus. Our hand-cut fries were great but many of them got soggy from sauces/juices on our plates. The steaks I saw being served appeared as well prepared as my chop. I'd recommend the place but would suggest avoiding the prime rib. With a little more care they might do it.

Walked right in and was greeted nicely by the hostess. Seated very quickly. Tablets as a menu is a very nice feature. Very nice and soft bread rolls with butter. At first I thought it was whipped cream as you can tell by the picture. As my appetizer I chose the jalapeño soup. I have to say that it was amazing even if it had no real substance to it other than cream of something and jalapeños. I think potatoes would be a nice addition to this soup. For dinner I chose the 8oz filet and I added blue cheese crumbles to the top slightly melted. The steak was cooked perfect and the flavor was nice. The veggies along with it were cooked well with minimal butter which I prefer. My waitress was perfect. She came around just enough and not to much. Nothing bothers me more than to come around so much that I can't enjoy my food. I'm a happy medium kind of guy when it comes to that and she did a great job balancing her other customers and I. Over all my experience was wonderful. I will definitely be dining her again before I leave town.

Food: my husband ordered a burger with bbq sauce bacon brisket etc. he got a dry charred mini burger with pickles and cheese. They were astonished that there was anything missing. They FINALLY brought 2 small pieces of gray brisket to put on it and wanted to call it good. Ambiance: feels like a banquet room with removable tables. No soft furnishings to dull the room echo. It was near Christmas and ate dinner to the Grinch theme song and songs by...sigh... the Chipmunks. DO NOT GO WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER

My girlfriend and I treated both of our mothers, and her stepfather to lunch here for Mother's Day 2022 and had a wonderful experience. The steakhouse had just been redesigned and moved to another room, but if they were working out any newness kinks I couldn't tell. Aspen, our waitress, gave a level of service that is rare for this area and would stand up to fine dining in much larger cities. The meal was terrific, all five plates cooked to perfection, and since it was the first meal my mom had ever shared with my girlfriend's parents, the atmosphere was perfect-upscale without being stuffy and facilitated a wonderful visit with laughter and great conversation. It was EXACTLY what I was hoping for on this occasion, down to every detail. They nailed it completely, and we all had a great visit and left full, happy, and impressed. I've got a reservation for a date night this weekend too. After reading a couple other reviews, the negatives seem to focus around two areas--the time it takes for food to come out, and the price. My take on that is that when I go for a fine dining experience, I'm not in a hurry, and I want to enjoy the atmosphere, conversation, drinks and appetizers. I also would much prefer the kitchen to take an extra 10 minutes to get it perfect (and a perfect Centennial Filet is a wonderful thing, believe me) rather than rush it out and sacrifice taste or quality, especially for the price. Which brings me to the other point, it is a bit higher than most other places in the area, but offers more attention to detail and atmosphere, which I factor into the price and find it to be worth it. I'd rather pay $40 for superb than $35 for pretty good elsewhere. This steakhouse has been around for over a decade, I've eaten here many times, and I can honestly say they've never given me an experience that was below really good, and have achieved exquisite heights on more than one occasion, Mother's Day 2022 was certainly the latter.

The Centennial filet was the best steak I've had in Hobbs! Cooked perfectly medium rare, tender and juicy. Crab cakes were better than ones I've had on the East Coast. Would give it 5 stars except they were out of several menu items like the Ribeye Steak, the jalapeno poppers, oysters and certain beer and some glitches with the ordering system.

Best steak I've had in Hobbs so far. Service was bad and very slow even though it wasn't busy at all, but the food was great. Best crepe brûlée I've had in a long time. Would be worth going just for desert alone! Only other downfall was walking through the cigarette smelling casino to get the the restaurant, but once you are in the doors of the restaurant, you no longer smell it! We will be back.

Any time my husband and I visit Zia Park we make reservations for this steakhouse. We've been a handful of times and it never disappoints!

Wife and I went for anniversary dinner, service was good but slow (we were not in a hurry) best steak in Hobbs so far, all the sides and Salad was very good as well.

Best place to eat in Hobbs. You wouldn't think that oysters would be something to get in the middle of the desert in a small town, but we eat them all over the country and they are as good or better here than anywhere. Steaks are usually awesome, drinks are fantastic... No complaints in the dozen or so times that we have been here...

And They're Off! Live Racing returns to Zia Park September 8! I love watching these New Mexico Mustangs Racing. You can tell they love to run because their pride in their eyes sparkle. Heck they don't even require a jockey. Live Racing Saturday - Tuesday Post Times: 12:15pm After the races you can enjoy an evening of fine dining at the Black Gold Steakhouse. The food is of good portion and the chef always has an interesting twist to the vegetable sides. It is a little pricey in comparison to other steakhouses in Hobbs. After diner you can try your luck at the adjacent casino or dancing on Friday and Saturday night. Off Track betting is also available if your in to that kind of thing.

Pricey, but worth it. I think their food is excellent, the service was decent. It's a very nice establishment. It's not one you'd go to regularly (unless you have a lot of money), but for a special occasion...it's pretty good. I like that it's geared more toward adults (in a casino, thus you can escape the kids that are everywhere else). It's also small, so large parties and nights when it's busy...not so great.

Was the worst customer service I've seen in years it took 45 minutes to receive our food once the order was placed our waitress was not attentive at all we had to ask for our salads and when food arrived it was cold and not good at all our bill was $65 . We will not dine here again

Bad service from waitress; she was very unfriendly...ordered a filet mignon medium well...got it well done and was super dry...

Centennial Steakhouse is located in the casino across the street from the event center in Hobbs, so it's very convenient for a bite before a show. We had no reservation but were seated immediately. The steak here is fantastic--so tender and a wonderful flavor. The chef perfectly prepared both my medium rare and my and my husband's well done steaks. The sides were tasty. Service was excellent and staff was very friendly. If I ever go to Hobbs again, I'll look forward to enjoying another meal at Centennial Steakhouse.

The nicest restaurant in Hobbs, by far. Excellent service. I had the filet mignon with Boursin cheese and crab. Nice wine selection (for Hobbs). This is a great place to take a date!

This is located inside of a casino. Very smokey from the smoking gamblers. Service was good since there was no other diners on a Thursday night. Ordered the seafood pasta that was only two scrimp and two scallops in a very oily pile of over cooked noodles. Also had the "blackened" salmon that was not at all blackened but did have enough rice to feed all the diners at my table. Overall the food was terrible and the one star is for the service or it would be a negative 5.

If McDonald's served steak, this is what it would taste like. Very dry and bland and way overpriced. My girlfriend had the jalapeño soup and it tasted like they poured it right out of a can. Very disappointed.

Definitely a little pricey, but the taste was magnificent. Perfectly cooked steak - Jalapeño soup was awesome!

First off, terrible service!!! Waited at the door for a long time before we were helped. Waitress came to our table maybe twice, it took an hour for food to come. Second, the food was not good! Had he kabobs and it was a cheap cut of meat marinated in terrible marinade! Bleh!

Good wasn't all that great! Literally got there at 7:15 and left at 9pm because our server was slow!!. There was 4 tables that came and left before us. Desert fruit was soggy and was too sweet! Couldn't even eat it. The table beside us even got offered a discount for the long wait. Customers looked frustrated. For the price of the ticket this place wasn't even worth it!

Had a really good steak dinner here. Filet cooked perfect-medium plus. Service good. Did not have to dress up. I would definitely go here again. Only complaint- Cesar salad was not that great. It was not bad. Guess I was expecting more. I'm sure there are better places here in cow country. But when at the casino, try this place out. Note-not open all days/hours, call before you come.

Eh. I would say this place is decent and way overpriced. I ordered the grilled chicken supposed to be on the bone, what I got was a tiny grilled chicken breast about 4oz in size on soggy peppers for $19. Baked potato was good, bread was stale or maybe it's supposed to be like that. The other people in the party all had red meat and they seemed happier with their meals, it's a steakhouse after all. I tried the sweet potato fries and the batter was more like tempura with a cinnamon sugar flavor. The smoke inside the casino is suffocating but in the restaurant it's bearable. Salads were small but good. It was a very long wait for our meal. Probably about 30-40 minutes after we waited about 15 min for the salads. Be prepared for a long meal....
