"Central Bistro (34 Summer St., Downtown Boston) will close on Friday, May 18, after about eight years in business, known for over half of that span as Petit Robert Central. The Downtown Crossing restaurant announced the closure on its website, indicating that the building will be “transformed into upscale office space.” The last service will be lunch on Friday. The restaurant opened as Petit Robert under restaurateur Jacky Robert in 2010 before bringing in new owners (along with the name change) in 2015. The message posted to the restaurant website read, in part: “We’d like to thank all of our guests for your unconditional support; we’ve truly loved being a part of the Downtown Crossing community and will miss serving you at our neighborhood bistro.” The announcement also indicated that members of the team would move on to other restaurants sharing owners with Central Bistro, including Abby Lane, Citrus & Salt, Lion’s Tail, and Lower Mills Tavern. Central Bistro serves dishes such as escargot, onion soup, chicken cordon bleu, beef bourguignon, and steak frites; stop by before the end of the week to try them." - Dana Hatic

A very solid restaurant situated in a cozy intersection, Central Bistro offers a decent selection in terms of . The steak frites I had was very nice (medium; I'm not a savage). The elevation of this restaurant allows for excellent people-watching if you're seated next to a window, making for a great backdrop to enjoy your meal. Staff was courteous and friendly.

Fashionable bistro with a very pleasant & authentic atmosphere. Dinner was very good - the menu is adapted to the season and offers classic french dishes, fine cuisine without chichi. Service was great - the french waitress in charge of our table was 100% knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Overall: a great dining experience!

Great little restaurant tucked away on the second floor of an office building in downtown crossing. If you can find the way to get there it is worth the visit.

We had our wedding at Central Bistro on 9/9/17 and I cannot begin to describe how phenomenal Mike and Central Bistro have been from the moment I sent my email request to see the site. When Nate and I left after touring the venue for the first time I cried because I knew in my heart we had found the perfect place. Mike was not only our day of coordinator, but he became our friend, our adviser, and our number on "go to". Every time we met with Mike we became more and more excited for our big day. Wedding planning was stressful, and Mike helped every step of the way. I honestly don't know where I would have been without him. He was so honest and real and kind...I don't think I told him enough how grateful I was when everything felt overwhelming I never ever once had to be concerned about my venue - never! The day of our wedding everyone fell in love with Mike, I kept having guests ask if we knew him before the wedding planning because he was THAT good. I never had anything to worry about - seamless. Perfect. I could go on for 10 pages raving about Central Bistro. Their food, their staff, their venue... whether you are going for drinks, date night, a corporate event, or your wedding day! you absolutely cannot go wrong with Central Bistro.

Shout out to Mike and the entire Central Bistro team for a phenomenal job hosting Tyler & Natalie’s wedding last night! Food was amazing - service was fantastic, too...and the layout of the venue couldn’t have been better. Thanks Mike, you were a pleasure to work with - your planning and execution were spot on.

Great hidden French restaurant, much bigger than expected. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor and entrance is actually on summer st, so the place is a little hard to find. The restaurant has a private room and a decent size bar for after work drinks. Had the steak lunch entree and it was delicious and portion was huge.

Food is no longer French. It used to be called Petit Roberts but they changed the name. It is just another American pub food place. It's not bad it's just not as good as it used to be. It's a solid choice for lunch. They have plenty of tables and seat you very quickly even during rush times. Comfortable environment.

I always enjoy dinner at PRC. The menu is a mix of French classics and new ideas that are French-inspired. The interior is gorgeous, and the restaurant truly comes to life as it fills up with patrons. The service is attentive -- maybe a little too attentive for my taste.
