Small batch brewery with award-winning kolsch & fruited sours

"For those attending Convention Center events or en route to a concert at Stubb’s, this Red River venue in downtown Austin is a simple, pleasant spot for a craft beer. Beers are cleverly named after song titles: on a recent visit, there were references to the Incubus and Florence & The Machine on the menu. The menu is helpfully designed in easy-to-parse sections like light, hoppy, sour, and dark, and the quality is really quite a bit better than a conference-goer might expect from an unassuming stop. Try the Texas Craft Brewers Guild’s award-winning Kayaker’s kolsch to start. Most seating is indoors, but there are a couple of tables outside." - Erin Russell

"This is Austin, so it makes sense that there’s a brewery right next to the convention center. Central District brews all sorts of beer styles in its friendly, approachable tap room, like its award-winning Kayaker’s kolsch, fruited sours, and other rotating styles. There’s also a spicy margarita and nonalcoholic options, and a small outdoor area." - Erin Russell

"The downtown brewery has released a new Red River Kölsch with artwork by Cat Barrera; proceeds from the beer will benefit the Red River Cultural District and nonprofit Caritas. The beer will be available at the taproom starting Wednesday, July 20, with a launch party on Friday, July 21." - Nadia Chaudhury

"Central District Brewing at 417 Red River Street in Downtown Austin is adjusting hours due to the winter storm." - Nadia Chaudhury

"The brewery launched a sidewalk patio with six tables spaced well over six feet apart along the sidewalk facing the convention center under a Shop the Block permit. Beer must be ordered and paid for at the bar inside, while new hot items like soft-baked pretzels and savory empanadas are delivered to outdoor tables; every drink order includes a snack-sized bag of pretzels to comply with bar-to-restaurant permitting. Tables are available on a first come, first served basis." - David Brendan Hall
