Upcoming Boston Restaurant Closures | Eater Boston

"After months of speculation that its space would transform into a recreational marijuana dispensary, I confirmed that Central Kitchen, a popular Central Square restaurant and bar that had been in operation for over two decades, is officially closing; owner Gary Strack told Eater that the restaurant will continue to operate as a pop-up and special-event space — as it has been doing for the past several months — until construction on the dispensary begins." - Eater Staff

This place has more misses than hits turkey wing was flavorful but was tuff as hell and the dressing was baked cornbread not dressing at all. I have been on multiple occasions and they always forget something on the order. And they charge you 4% on card they don't tell you that it's a sticker on the side of the scanner with the words faded off.

My first and last visit! Ordered 2 chicken wing dinners. One with cabbage Mac & cheese and one with greens (which were undercooked) The cabbage was the best of the dinner. The mac & cheese was just ok. But to my surprise, the chicken was 5 small wing dings, not whole wings.( no seasoning) What! The dinner cost $18. It wasn’t a dinner, it was a snack!

Google
First time eating their food and very disappointed! The black eye peas were salty and the Mac and cheese had more cheese than noodles. The peach cobbler was so small for $5 and didn’t have any crust! Just peaches and sauce. Don’t talk about the smallest square of cornbread you got that was Jiffy mix. We saw the big boxes on the counter. Green was ok. Not worth the drive for me.

The Restaurant is located in a Liquor Store on W. 8 Mile. We all know some of the best foods are found in the City in the Liquor Stores. I have the fried pork chop meal with some dressing and green beans. Bae had the shirt ribs with double Mac. Friend had short ribs Mac n cheese and greens. All meals came with a canned pop and a side of cornbread. Then I got a banana pudding for dessert. Baby it didn’t disappoint.

Google
True review for Central Market Kicthen inside the liquor store. I went on Feb 13th. The cook asked us not to blast them on social media to come to her first if it wasn’t good. Well it wasn’t and her excuse is the over flux of customers bc of the social media post. She can’t keep up it’s one person that can cook. What irritates me is that she said the social media post is the reason for the inconsistency basically. But you had about 3 more popular influencers come and all their food was good??! How when a regular customer comes you have an excuse. The greens taste earthy like she just put them in the pot NO SEASONING. But everything we had that day was horrible. As pictured we got oxtails, fried chicken wings, sweet potatoes, collard greens and mac and cheese. All the food we had was horrible I do not recommend. Also it took over an hour to get “fresh” food.

Google
The food here is pretty good soul food. It hits the spot for a quick homestyle Sunday dinner. The cornbread dressing and fried pork chops are tasty. It's inside the party store but it's a well managed take out eatery. The meatloaf wasn't my favorite. Some selections on the hot food table looked less appetizing than others. Order online and pickup in person to avoid card service charges. Check your order before you leave the store!!!!!!

Google
I ordered pork chops they taste like they been sitting out FOR DAYS! And then they put a BUNCH of unnecessary nasty seasoning on them! Everybody don’t like that I also ordered dirty rice it was just literally white rice not even with salt! My 11 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER said the cabbage taste like dirt! Like yall didn’t clean them! My kids didn’t even eat dinner cause it was NASTY! And the grease had to be at least a week old!

This convenient store is nothing at all what I expected when I walked in. It is so clean, neatly designed, and welcoming. The store has a cool aesthetic with very modern aisles and cooler sections. The variety of wine and food offerings is grand! The mural when you first walk in to the right is very creative! The restaurant offers so many tasty choices. The cooking staff and convention staff were very welcoming and answered all my questions when ordering. We really enjoyed the freshness of the catfish and the smothered pork chops, which were cooked fresh to order. The sides were somewhat bland, but they were still pretty good. We will definitely be back in to try more of their menu. Thank you 💚

Yelp
Say a review on FB reels. Went on Sunday around 12:30pm. It's inside Central Market Liquor store on 8 mile rd. Not many in line. Surprisingly each diner comes with a drink.

Yelp
This is my third time trying to post this. My husband and I went here because we heard good things about this place. It was recommended for the Soul Food. The staff was courteous and helpful. My husband ordered rib tips greens and dressing. The rib tips were tuff, the membrane/skin was not removed. The greens tasted like fish, probably cause the server used the same tongs for the salmon. Dressing was dry.I ordered Turkey wing yams and mac and cheese. Turkey wing was cooked in a yellow curry turmeric concoction. It was dry and not good at all mac and cheese was just ok nothing special and yams only tasted like sugar we spent $36. I'm very disappointed and we won't be back. Maybe they were having a bad day but it's a no for me!!

Yelp
I've tried their corned beef and double side of green beans the first time i went! The green beans were fresh and full of flavor! Went back about two weeks later and had baked chicken, greens and green beans .. this time the green beans were canned green beans no love and no flavor! Please don't skimp on them green beans and go back to fresh! I was so disappointed seeing that they weren't the same!

Yelp
Customer service was excellent, with very friendly staff. The greens were about a 7/10, and the dressing was also a solid 7, though I wish they offered a topping (sauce) or extra dressing for the dressing option for that side. The chicken was an 8.5/10, and the BBQ sauce was really good.

Yelp
It just wasn't to my liking honestly. Nothing tasted like soul food I only took one bite of everything and instantly wish I went to motor city soul food I never finished my plate from the picture it looks great but my ribs was rough my mac taste like milk and my yams just had a sour taste I'm sorry but whoever was cooking today didn't do a good job at all. The customer service was good though

Yelp
Went there and got the Cat Fish, Collard greens, Mac and cheese with Candy Yams. The Cat Fish was good. The sides were awful! The greens had salt and nothing else. The Mac and cheese was dry and bland. The Candy Yams had no cinnamon at all! Won't be going back. You want good Liquor store soul food? Then I suggest going to Victory Liquor on West Warren and St. Marys.

Yelp
Decent portions. Food looks really good but falls short in the flavor department. The seasoning was just missing a bit. Perch was piping hot but could've used some salt. Yams and greens were good. Mac-n-cheese looked really good but fell short on the flavor.

Yelp
Located in a liquor store. Very clean and customer can see everything including the kitchen and preparers. Maybe it was the time that I went, late Sunday afternoon. The food looked like it had been sitting for a while. I ordered beef ribs, greens and cabbage. I was told cornbread would be included with my meal, but it wasn't The food was decent, seasoned well, not too salty. May try it another time.
