Central Market

We have always loved Central Market. I shop there from time to time and order their holiday meals, love it! Last year I had them cater my Sister's Celebration of Life gathering. Such a good decision. I had considered other bakeries and restaurants, but am so glad I chose CM. We had brunch, which was pastries, quiche, coffee and juice. The coffee came with creamer and sugar, stir sticks...the pastries were absolutely amazing. And the quiche was delicious too. For such an unexpected traumatic time in my life, I am forever thankful that CM took such good care of us. I was very proud of how everything turned out.

The produce section alone is worth visiting for the beauty of displays and varieties available. They have their own mushroom incubator and of course make fresh juices. I often go for the wall of tea, stocking up on brands I can't find locally and they have bulk teas too, as well as bulk coffee, spices, nuts, ect. Their meat and seafood selections look fresh too. Sometimes I just come for the good, reasonably priced food in the Cafe, with live music on the weekends. If you are in need of a particular ingredient for a special recipie, or want to try something new, you can find it here.

Central Market is an impressive grocery destination that goes far beyond a typical supermarket. The selection of vegetables, fruits, and greens is massive—easily ten times more diverse than in a regular grocery store. Everything looks incredibly fresh, with a noticeably better quality than most standard supermarkets. The seafood and meat departments are equally extensive, offering a wide variety of fresh options. The wine section is well-stocked, and there’s a strong emphasis on organic products throughout the store. The beautifully arranged displays make shopping here a visually appealing experience. What’s even better is that despite the premium quality, prices are lower than at Whole Foods. With its vast selection, fresh produce, and competitive pricing, Central Market is a top choice for anyone looking for high-quality groceries. Highly recommended!

Super friendly staff. Ready to take your order. I love coming here so relaxing. I ordered some breakfast tacos and it was quick. I recommend. One year later back again. Beautiful and fun experience coming here. So much to offer. I finally found the purple sweet potatoes I was looking for. No other place has it. We also had lunch here. Great prices awesome food.

When I say I wish I could shop here daily! The quality and the items and the setup are perfect! Service is amazing from looking for something new to picking out seafood and meats! I love how you can hand pick flowers and they wrap them for you making it so unique and special. Also love the cafe the salads and daily specials are so delicious. My go-to is the steak salad I cannot get enough! It’s a great everyday spot where you can grab a bite and work at the same time or just meet with some friends to catch up. This is the best grocery store I have ever been to. It blew my expectations out of the water. This place is extraordinary. The items are of amazing quality, and there are brands I have never seen before. It's a treasure hunt in every single aisle. The staff is incredible—very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I enjoy talking to them. They're also very knowledgeable about all the items in the store. I have never experienced anything like this in a grocery store. I am so impressed.

Great food selection. The best place to buy groceries in Texas. The only problem is the politicians in this country. They are printing money out of thin air. The buying power of the dollar is going to be worthless without a complete overhaul of government spending. It would be nice if we stopped spending trillions on war and put it towards American infrastructure. The current path is taking us to a trip to get groceries costing $1000 or more for a week. I want healthy real food. Every time I go to Central Market I’m shocked at how much the prices of everything have increased. It’s not their fault. We have a corrupt system of governance. If we are only 9 meals away from revolution. We should do everything in our power to keep from testing that hypothesis. Everyone can get behind the idea of less war and more food.

Reviewing the restaurant here.... Really decent food at usually good prices, but I just paid $14 for a bison burger, so there's that... Used to be great for breakfast, then they stopped making omelets. Overall, pretty solid though. Staff is usually very good, don't think I've ever had anything that was bad there. Still the best value in breakfast anywhere!

Central Market celebrated Hatch Chile Peppers season by hosting a sample stroll through the store on Friday, August 8th, featuring 9 delectable gourmet foods/drinks made with the chilies. The stroll was aptly named "Hatch Hall of Flame; 30 Years of Pure Fire." The servers were dressed with chili pepper hats, cheerfully handing out the samples at each station: 1. Hatch Maryland Crab Cakes with Hatch-Jalapeño Aioli 2. Green Chile Nachos and Hatch Guacamole (my favorite) 3. Hudson Hatch Sausage Wraps 4. Bloody Revolution Hatch Michelda 5. Mariah Hatch Caramels 6. Cheeza Pleeza Hatch Cheese Dip 7. Blue Corn Hatch Cookies and Hatch Scones 8. Marieke Hatch Gouda with Hatch-Jalapeño Chile Jam & Spitted Trotter Hatch Salami 9. Hatch Brisket Quesadillas with Green Chile Rice & and Beans The entire ambiance store felt so welcoming with all the hatch decorations; even the floor was decorated with hatch-themed stars!

I would give them 3.5 stars, so it's better than just ok. This is one place I used to frequent more often. A lot of positives to report. I live the produce here as it is plentiful, and sometimes if you look carefully you can find good prices. I love the deli and soup area - they always have good soups here and some deli items are staples of mine like the Mexican rice - it's solid. The salad with cranberries and almonds and an Asian twist with kale is great. Split pea and ham soup, Five onion soup, and Chicken Tortilla have been great. They make a superb Queso Blanco here. Love their chili rubbed turkey loaf and meat loaf too. Lots of bread selections and butter too. And of course a lot of pies and pastries. Great selection of milk, and the seafood and meat depts always have great offerings. But as I mentioned I used to come here more frequently, but not as much lately as so have noticed some of their prices have just gone haywire. The fresh pressed juices are nearly $10 now. Most of the fruits and produce prices have jumped. The prepped meals - omg - they offer a sale but it's still discounted off a very high price. Like a chicken and rice platter - looks to feed 1,5 people - $5 off on sale but it's still $18, normal cost is $23ish. Some things are packaged very well and look great but - no. I got some Central Market special Italian spaghetti sauce - comes half jar and seems delicious but it was not good. The taste was off. Usually they are good with returns. But when I come here I only get what I need, and what's on sale, and that's it. I noticed Milk had gone up by at least 15% in price. And the price increases seem to happen more frequently nowadays - like a few times a year as opposed to 1-2x. But still a nice social place too.

I could spend hours wandering around Central Market. Went this week to grab "a few things" and somehow left with a cart full of fresh fruit, random cheeses, and like... 8 sushi rolls The sushi section is amazing. Fresh, made-in-store rolls, sashimi, and even some spicy poke-style bowls. I got a salmon avocado roll and a salmon nigiri and sashimi, and they were both super fresh and flavorful. Also, the produce here is next level. Everything looks like it was just picked that morning -- I grabbed peaches, heirloom tomatoes, and some strawberries. They even have a big section for organic/local stuff and it's all beautifully displayed! Also love the gelato stand and coffee stand towards the front of the store. Employees are super sweet in all areas of the store. The place is clean, organized, and smell great!

Probably one of the best evenings I've had in a long time. Massive venue with so many different places to stop and have some food, but everything really kicks off once the sun goes down and the music starts playing. Easy to get a massive group of people together and still not feel crammed in together. Food is great, service is great and even on a busy evening you can still get some privacy if you want.

Always a fun trip during hatch chili fest. Tons of must tries. Great flower shop and shopping experience. Recommend getting the gelato if you want a sweet. You get so much for the price they really pack a lot into the containers.

My first time visiting Texas and boy do I wish we have a Central Market in California. What an incredible selection of products! More than any market in Southern California. I would move to Texas for Central Market. The sugar cookie reminds me of a sugar cookie from my childhood bakery. Everyone was so helpful working there. They have a wine chiller so you can ask for any wine bottle to be chilled within minutes. I could happily spend my days walking these aisles. It's all very organized as well. Great work yall!!!

Central Market is the elevated older sister of HEB. She's just as cost efficient, offers a ton more organic options, always has the freshest produce and celebrates in fun, unique &/or seasonal events. The seafood, meat, pastries, and fresh breads are impressive -- far more abundant than what you'll find at a typical H-E-B. The way they display their items is fun and satisfying. I love it here. If you thought HEB had it all, Central Market will prove you wrong. I could spend hours perusing the aisles and finding my next obsession.

One of my go to stores. The flower selection was huge and looked really fresh. Loved how many options they had. The wine and alcohol section was impressive.tons to choose from. Checked out the pre-made meals, and they looked tasty and convenient. Prices were a bit high but worth it for the quality. Good place to shop if you want variety and fresh stuff. nice and clean ambiance overall. Nice employees too

This is my new favorite place to eat when I'm on a budget. Their deli has a beautiful assortment of healthy American fare with fresh ingredients, all with large portions on top of that. I'm shocked I got all of this for 38 bucks! I have enough for leftovers for the next day. I also love the grocery store because of the great customer service and beautiful displays of foods.

I come here often for the food at the café during live music nights, and the pizza never disappoints. It has the perfect thin crust and an ideal ratio of cheese to toppings. The size is just right for a single hungry person--satisfying without being overly filling. Given the quality of the pizza, $10-12 is a great price! Parmesan and chili flakes are available at the self-serve bar, and the fresh-baked pizza comes out quickly, too! I also love that they take your number and send text updates, so you can find a table instead of standing around waiting at the counter.

Mid-tier casual restaurant style food at exceptionally good prices. Had the Saturday Smash Burger special. Not seasoned as well as I am used to but clearly had quality ingredients and was a bargain at the price. Service is friendly and in a town where going out is often exceptionally loud and crowded, the live entertainment here was really nice (a number of people were dancing to the music).

First time going to Central Market, i like the displays and how they sell their mushroom and youre able to see them grow in the fridges! they have a variety of everything seafood, bakery, deli and even a cafeteria type food area with soups salads sandwiches, chicken, ect. they even had gelato! my son got the blue one which i believe was called unicorn dream (had star sprinkles on top). although its a little more pricey than a regular HEB it is still super worth it! the grocery store itself is designed almost like an ikea in a sense that you follow the aisles and it takes you through each section. the workers there were also super helpful and understanding when my child wanted to try EVERY flavor ever made of gelato .

Love this place! They have everything you need and more- great selections and variety of food especially a pretty brand of Kimchi in the Asian section. Love the specialty wines and fresh produce. A bit pricey but the location, food quality and good customer service makes up for it. Will definitely come back again!

I don't live too close to any central market, but I do enjoy shopping here. So when I come, I try to stock up on staples. I think their prices are fair. And they do offer a lot more specialty items, like mushrooms, and cold pressed juices, and a variety of other items. I feel like there are little more plentiful in the organic items, and carry more fruit options. The store is pretty well maintenance and the isles are clean. I saw a few employees out either stocking shelves or talking with customers. They have a fruit stand for the kids right at the door, a small donation is asked in the form of a jar, the honor system. My cashier was friendly, and the young man that bagged my groceries was a Tetris genius. Next time I need some restocking of staples, I will surely come back

Great place for all things organic and healthy foods. Central Market also has a lot of plant based meats like chicken and beef, ready to eat and can be incorporated in your meals directly. I also really like the bakery and patisserie section, so many delectable pastries and fresh baked goods. Some basic grocery items like plain yogurt and varieties of bread were missing so had to go to another store to pick those up. Also got mangoes from here this time and they were all rotten so disappointed with that :/

Plenty of options, super nice display and there are products that you normally you don't find in other stores. The bakery section has a HUGE selection as well! I'm Italian and I love the fact that I can find products that normally are hard to find, like Stracchino or Robiola by Nonni Nanni Also, Luis from the Bulk Area is so nice and was super helpful!

I love their cafe - they pull a mean espresso shot, latte/mochas are great. The gelato is delicious and inexpensive - my favorite in Austin so far. They also have a breakfast/food counter which have tacos and sandwiches but I have never tried. And its Central Market, what's not to love - a wide range of specialty foods, imports and bulk section. They also sell flowers and lots of freshly made pastries/bakery section.

Love the Greek salad and pizza here. The veggie burger and the pesto that comes with it is delicious too. Sometimes can be hard to find a table, but a nice casual spot for lunch with the kids.

The food was nice, but the service was HORRIBLE. There was this sample lady and she was so rude and snooty. Unfortunately, I couldn't get her name but, if I did, I would definitely say it so it could be known. Atmosphere is fine. I'm SO upset at this woman. All the other workers there were quite nice though.

Was treated poorly by employees here on more than one occasion. Never experienced anything like that at Whole Foods or any HEB

We often do remote Fridays here because the chai latte and breakfast is so good. We either do oatmeal with fruit or pancakes. The internet is spotty sometimes and there are no outlets to plug in so come with a full battery. The staff is always friendly and the booth and tables are spacious.

The cook at the Central Market Cafe did a sloppy job making breakfast tacos. Taco 1: Chorizo was supposed to mix with eggs but they were separated and the taco was very greasy. Taco 2: Too much refried black beans with egg and cheese. Most Mexican restaurants serve whole black beans. The cook needs to know how to cook them properly.

If you combined the upscale ambiance and boutique brands of Whole Foods with the down-to-earth sensibilities and more affordable pricing of HEB, you'd get Central Market. Central Market is in fact part of the HEB family, so you'll see some of the same product there, making this easy one-stop shopping. The produce section is unbeatable for quality, and also diversity, stocking some more niche items like makrut lime leaves or puffball mushrooms. In fact, they grow some of their own mushrooms onsite, which is crazy cool. The real crowning jewel here is the completely meatless butcher counter. They're making their own plant-based meats from scratch, including bacon, brisket, chorizo, and so much more. It's a vegan paradise where they'll even slice your order on demand and price it by the pound. You can make a whole day of it at the cafe, or grab a beer on tap to take the edge off. I've legit gone on dates here and not been mad about it. Grocery shopping and drinks? Yes, I'm always down.

This central market is huge! We just so happened to come on a day where they were doing an ice cream sampling. Our favorite was the affogato (they used in house grounded coffee espresso + nice quality vanilla ice cream) and the strawberry frozen yogurt + basil + balsamic glaze + strawberries. While that last combo sounds weird, it was SO GOOD!! It had sour, sweet, and a refreshing taste (from the basil). I am going to recreate this ice cream combo at home!! The employees were nice and welcoming. I love all the seating by the cafe + food area. Wonderful shopping experience!

I would come here to get their macarons and cupcakes. The fresh flowers are also beautiful. The people working in floral usually know what they are doing.

Central Market itself is great, this is for the cafe. The food is just ok, good for a quick bite.

An amazing specialty grocery in South Austin, Central Market continuously delivers 5 stars! This location is always full of fresh inventory and super-staffed! Unlike most other groceries where you have to search and search across the entire store to find an available, helping employee, Central Market always has a plethora of available, smiling staff in-store and within eye view distance. They have self-serve checkout that is monitored and makes for an easy, quick checkout experience. While on the pricier side, you really get what you pay for here in the food quality. This store is the most reliable locally in South Austin that has the more niche, finer ingredients for elevated or advanced home-cooking. Both their produce and meat are unmatched in both their selection ++ quality. They also have the best plant-based protein and ready-made meals you can get in a local grocery! And I'd be remiss not to mention their insanely wide, wonderful Mushroom section, featuring in-house grown mushrooms. In addition, they have a grande selección of premade, ready-made dinners and meals. Last but certainly not least, their salad and hot bars are alive + running once again, post-COVID!! It's not surprising this specialty grocery store is owned and operated by our Texas-favorite, H-E-B, as they always have unique, yummy offerings only found here!

I can definitely tell that this location went downhill. Ambiance is not as used to be and layout of the store is a bit confusing. I remember going there so many times like 10-12 years ago, it was so much better, including environment and clientele. I prefer north Lamar location over this one.

I happen to love CM, but why is the chicken on the salad bar so often very dry? Too often it's not just dry it's also not pieces of chicken, it's crumbles. Come on CM, I know you can do better than this.

I recently stopped by this Central Market to grab something for lunch. I absolutely love their salad bar and it was just as good this time as it always is. You just fill up your to go box and you pay by weight at the front checkout. I have learned this can be dangerous so I've gotten a little more selective in what I choose. They have a wide variety of items at the salad bar along with fresh salad dressing. The employees keep the area very clean. One added benefit is that the salad bar is just down from the bakery, so I usually end up over there getting something for dessert! I got the peach cobbler on this last trip and it was excellent! They are a little pricey but you get what you pay for!

They have literally EVERYTHING in every food group! Highly recommend! If I am searching for anything that's where I'd go first

I loved this supermarket so much. If I lived in the area, I'd spend a lot of time here! They have great produce, yummy prepared items, an ice cream shop in the store (!) and live music almost every evening. The people watching is fantastic and everyone, EVERYONE (staff and patrons included) is incredibly friendly. The pressed juice I bought was mind-blowing (pineapple, coconut milk, lime and carrot or something?) Delicious!

I've came here many times over the years. It's always consistent. I've lived in the south mostly so it's definitely location wise. Good for me, but the store is always clean. Everything is always consistent as central market does along with new things and pop-ups along the way and everybody loves to have a free tasting. I'll come here often but most definitely come in heavy when it's special occasion because the butcher counter seafood counter, you can't be anywhere will definitely continue to come back and enjoy the great service as they help you with everything in the store..

Stopped here when in town running errands with my friend and his family over the weekend. This is an offshoot of HEB (Grocery chain) and reminds me of a more affordable Whole Foods. We came in here for lunch since there are so many options for food. You can go into the store and get soups and chili, or do what I did and order a cheeseburger salad with homemade 1000 island dressing. Super fast, the salad had bacon, cheese, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, greens, and a healthy amount of diced burger to go with everything. HEARTY doesn't even do this justice. I ordered an extra side of dressing but you probably don't need one. I used it because it was so delicious. I was sad when it was time to go, I wanted to keep dipping things into the dressing. Easy to eat here and run. If you have shopping to do, you can get that done as well. But for a Saturday afternoon it was packed and rightfully so. People cleaning tables as soon as they open up. I'd come here more if I knew I was going to be able to get the salad again. However, they have so many options to go with I am sure I can find something I love just as much. If you ever come to ATL, I'll be your best customer! Thanks to the team here for great food, service, and experience.

I've always loved central market but don't come here terribly often since it's kind of out of the way for me. That said, this place is GREAT, especially for pre-cooked foods. Their deli has a huge selection of really tasty pasta, veggie, and meat options (eg loaded baked potatoes, pasta salads, etc), as well as a soup bar with like 8-10 options (and recently while it was cold I went to get soup and the area was swarming with people also getting soup). They also have really high quality deli items like cheeses which are located right next to the deli and of course there's a counter that does classics (eg burgers, grilled cheese, etc). When I went a couple days ago, they also had a live band playing jazz music! That was in the afternoon on Sunday. The server was also very attentive and sweet.

Love Central Market for many reasons, but I was disappointed with the 6 inch Red velvet cake I bought today for my wife's birthday. It was inedibly dry inside, which was impossible to know at the time of purchase. In contrast, the chocolate cake I got from HEB for my 2yo son yesterday is moist and delicious. We are all finishing the HEB cake from yesterday instead of eating the brand new central market one after blowing out the candles on her cake. It's still an incredible place with lots of great variety and selection amazing freshness, but beware the cakes!! It put a damper on the celebration today for sure

I grew up in Italy this gelato is the best I've had by a long shot in the USA. Wow! Nancy Silverton's chefs kiss.

Delivery today was excellent! Timing was perfect and with a delivery from another business a great meal was able to be prepared. Sorry, no pictures as was tied up with prepping and cooking a Crab, Lobster and Shrimp Fondue. They did most of the work :-) I have yet to be disappointed from shopping there and they know us well so even with delivery they know what we prefer and type and sizes of cuts.

Wow! Just wow! What an amazing market!! The fish and meat market sections are GORGEOUS!! The Bakery is fabulous! Their produce is spectacular!! Their wine section is HUGE...and we don't drink wine. I love their selection of cheeses!!! Mmmmmm. Whenever I go to Austin, this is one of my stops. ALWAYS!

I had a morning full of drs appts and dropped into CM on Wesgate to grab some breakfast. I deserved pancakes after all the drs appts I have been going to and you know what...I did! LOL! I ordered the breakfast special: two blueberry pancakes, two pieces of bacon and two eggs (your choice). I grabbed myself a little booth near the window and did some people watching. It was 9:00 a.m. on a Wednesday so the room was filled with mostly older people enjoying breakfast/coffee as well as a few laptop working folks. My texts message arrived that my food was ready for pickup so I grabbed it and got my knife and fork ready to get to work. The bacon was perfectly crispy and the blueberries were fresh in the pancakes. My drs appts are done for the week but I might treat myself again next week and even bring my laptop so I can fit in better with the crowd. Sidenote: I only ate one piece of bacon and wrapped the other one up for my dog( see photo). I felt guilty leaving her home without her usual morning walk. I wonder if my eye dr. could smell the bacon in my bag?! Haha! See

Food is high quality and is a place where I shop for parties, not for daily household food. Gourmet options out the wazoo!

I like Central Market - Westgate. I have shopped there for years. BUT, recently they have stopped carrying a number of things that I want. This is artichoke season, but there are no baby artichokes. Yesterday: no cured black olives, no quail, no pickling cucumbers. Also, no fish broth, no gluten free Le Veneziane Fettucce corn pasta. I used to be able to get Guinea hens around the holidays, but no more. I wish they would carry Texas Quail farms jumbo whole quail. And what really irks me is that there is no way to contact them. Their contact button at the bottom of their webpage doesn't work.

I love Central Market. However, I have to say that I'm disappointed in the Chocolate Cream Pie that I recently purchased because it was literally 90% cream. Don't get me wrong, the cream is delicious, but how 'bout that chocolate?? Look at this picture! I thought my friend was being stingy with the chocolate but after a 5 minute heated argument, she showed me the pie. I promptly apologized, and decided to write this review. I hope this was just a one-off occurrence, but I had to let it be know. Watch out for the cream pies. You might JUST get cream. P.s. We still ate it. And it was still delicious. Just wish there was more chocolate.

First off, I love Central Market. I stopped by to shop and have lunch. The meat on the Cuban Torta sandwich was warm on the outside, cold (refrigerator cold) on the inside. The fries were room temp. Something has slipped.

Great bakery, meat and fish selection. Personnel are always friendly and helpful. Lots of organic fruits and vegetables.

Please teach your barista's how to make coffee. I ordered an ice mocha and they gave me a cup of milk + chocolate + espresso with minimal ice. It immediately watered down the drink so I asked that it be made again. They made it again, this time with no ice. The worker tried to explain to me the chemistry of making an ice mocha and that there was "nothing they could do." I replied that I've worked as a barista and there was certainly something you can do. Correct order: Chocolate + espresso + milk, then add the ice. It's not complicated folks. Train your workers correctly. Fortunately we solved it by them just giving me an extra cup for ice.
