Yelp
We have been here many times in the past and I will write this review drawing from all of those visits.
Central Market is a subsidiary of the famed HEB grocery store. It is everything that Whole Foods wished it could be. It has plenty of high brow shoppers and elites who come to be noticed while grocery shopping, but what REALLY makes this place shine however, is the sheer variety and freshness of everything they sell. We live 2.5 hours away, but we always make it a habit to take a cooler when we are in going to be in town so we can take our cornucopia of finds home with us as fresh as we find them. The produce, which HEB prides themselves on, is locally sourced or TX grown for as many items as possible. The fish always looks freshly flown in with bright clear eyes on their whole fish and beautiful colors and vibrancy on their crustaceans. Their meat is also above and beyond. From Wagyu and Prime beef to Kurobuta Pork and farm raised poultry, there is always a well stocked diversity. For those who want quick meals, but with little fuss, CM provides a huge selection of already marinated/seasoned meats including chicken breasts, stuffed beef, and a plethora of sausages, and kebabs which can be thrown straight onto a grill or in an oven for ready to eat goodness in a matter of minutes. Would you like some wine with that quick meal? Well, you guessed it, there is a vast array of both local and imported spirits. What would a meal be like without a freshly baked loaf of bread straight out of the oven and paired with a smorgasbord of cheese choices. Another popular option at CM is their cafe/deli. They have a large buffet style menu with a multitude of pickled items such as olives, pickles, peppers and veggies; any number of salad and pasta items; wraps and meats aplenty. It really is a foodie oasis. You won't come here for your everyday staples such as your typical Lays potato chips, Jif peanut butter, or Lucky Charms, but if you like to chose your whole grains by hand, have freshly juiced fruit for your next brunch, or even impress the family with a charcuterie board to beat all charcuterie boards, this is the spot.
