"Great Market Hall The Great Market Hall in Budapest should be any visitors first stop in order to get acquainted to the people, goods and grub of Hungary. The market is one of those strange places that caters to both locals and tourists alike without losing its authentic appeal. Under one roof you can by meats and sausages, Royal Tokaji wine, paprika, hot Hungarian favorites, such as Goulash, an assortment of pickled vegetables and fresh produce. The upper floor has small eateries, where you can sample a variety of Hungarian favorites for very little money. By Dijedal"
One of Europe's great market halls. Very touristy - especially the food areas - but lots of great souvenirs and local goods to sample. The market is more targeted to tourists these days than locals, but it's still a must see when visiting Budapest...

It is more of a tourist attraction than a market but they do sell to some locals also. My travel companions bought some pastries that didn't look all that good but they wanted as they'd heard it was the thing to eat in Budapest.
To me, the architecture was the most interesting element. The shops were colorful and interesting too.

A beautiful and diverse market with many shops that cater to different interests. Whether you’re looking for local food, souvenirs, or traditional products, you’ll find something here. Highly recommended when visiting Budapest.

A great place to experience a taste of Hungary for tourists. You’ll find the popular spice paprika along with strudel, goulash, and sausages. There are souvenirs and food places upstairs.
I had both the sour cherry and apple strudel which weren’t too sweet and the right amount of pastry. Checkout the photo for the place that sells the best strudel.
The downside is that prices are on the high side.

Large and busy Market Hall, very industrial in appearance. I had a positive experience here. I browsed freely without being pressured into purchasing from individual traders.
At the time of my visit, this market was very clean. I enjoyed interacting with the traders. Very friendly and accommodating.
Lots of food choices.
Plenty of options for souvenirs. Generally most souvenir type items are going to be cheaper here.
Shout out to Hungary 🇭🇺 for being safe and friendly. Budapest is a great city to visit.

A decent market with a varieties of goods. You can can get from fruits, souvenirs, drinks, sausages, to desserts. But the price is really high. I would say a tourist trap and shouldn't buy a lot if you're on a budget. But the communication is quite good as sellers can speak English. I would like to recommend to visit.

Great atmosphere and buzz in the market the food and drinks are well priced and there are traditional Hungarian dishes a plenty to suit all tastes. Great fresh products on offer. Some of the traditional handmade products on sale are a bit on the pricey side in my opinion such as leather and linen. Still well worth a visit.

What an amazing place!! We enjoyed our visit to the Central Market Hall. This market hall, also known as the Great Market Hall, is one of the largest indoor markets in Budapest and boasts beautiful neo-Gothic architecture. Here, you'll find lots of fresh produce, fish, meat, spices, cured meats, and dairy products. And on the upper floors, you can taste authentic Hungarian cuisine (like goulash with dumplings) at the food stalls and eateries
