The Central Market Hall in Budapest is a wonderful and impressive place to visit, especially if you enjoy exploring local culture and architecture. The building itself is beautiful, large, and full of energy. It's a great stop for sightseeing and getting a sense of the city's atmosphere.
The ground floor is filled with stalls offering fruits, vegetables, meats, spices, and other traditional Hungarian goods. The upper floor is where you’ll find souvenirs, textiles, and food stands. While it’s visually interesting and worth walking through, many of the items for sale are mass-produced and often made in China. Prices are generally higher than what you’d pay elsewhere for the same products, so it's not the best place for shopping.
There are also several food stalls where you can try local dishes like goulash or lángos. The food looks tasty and is likely to be good, but again, the market is very tourist-oriented, and the prices reflect that.
Overall, the Central Market is definitely worth a visit for its charm and variety, but more as a cultural stop than a shopping destination. Four stars for the experience and atmosphere, minus one for the commercial and overpriced feel.
