"Right next to Liberty Bridge, Central Market Hall has been serving hungry Hungarians since 1897 – at the time, produce was arriving through a canal connecting the Danube and the building. Instead of canals, it is structured around three main aisles today – when viewing from the main entrance, delicacies, rare veggies and tourist traps are on the right side, while the other two aisles are full of regular food market goods (for regular prices). It is a pleasant location to explore and capture memorable photographs. The scenery offers ample opportunities for creative compositions and stunning visuals. Although the surroundings are beautiful, the dining experience could be improved. Hopefully, future visits will bring enhancements to the culinary offerings. Such a wonder world! While the place has decent number of food stalls, what amazed me were the wide variety of hand made hungarian artefacts that one finds here. We ended up doing quite a bit of shopping from here. Tip: don’t be stuck on the ground floor, head upstairs!

Tourists, you should visit this place! I am not sure why it’s not more popular among tourists but you can find a great selection of genuine Hungarian ingredients, cooking books (in different languages), souvenirs and, of course, the famous paprika! It’s also a good place for lunch! (Not for breakfast). Visit municipal markets when you travel! You will always find legitimate local products and learn much about the culture and people! I even met a Hungarian who lived in Brazil and shared many good tips about Budapest! If you are a chess player, don’t forget to get one that’s made locally! Chess is part of Hungarian culture! Even if you don’t play it, it’s going to look great in your office or living room! Enjoy!!

A large market hall which sells anything from fresh produce to souvenirs. Great to visit and easy to get around on the ground floor as the Isles are wide compared to upstairs with narrow Isles. You will also find upstairs a number of stalls preparing fresh food should you fancy some lunch.
