The 12 Best Restaurants in Casablanca, Morocco - Eater

"Since 1917, the Marché Central has been providing locals and tourists with spices, produce, and other household essentials. Past the rows of spice vendors and dozens of varieties of olives, you’ll find seafood sellers with the day’s fresh catch straight from the Atlantic. Have a fish sent over to the grilling stalls where it will be prepared to order. Most vendors also have a small selection of salads and plenty of bread for you to enjoy with your meal. Outdoor seating. Takeaway. [$]" - Amanda Ponzio-Mouttaki

The Central Market one of the most famous urban markets in Morocco with historical and cultural significance. It is located on Muhammad V Boulevard, among the colonial architecture of the 20th century. Crammed with locals, the daily market is a fascinating place for tourists to get a taste of local culture, while picking up bargains on everything from food to flowers and traditional clothing.

This is somewhat like a bit of the medina souk, enclosed in its own walls, offering well liked fish grill restaurants, fruit and vegetables as well as flowers and other such market goods. Nothing is priced?. The cafes were busy and the fish market had some high end fish and shellfish, much sought after.

You will find Central Marketplace in all big cities in Morocco including CasabIanca. I went there to eat fresh seafood. Fish restaurants are very clean, they offer fresh seafood only, good service, affordable prices. Fresh oysters 8-10 MAD, it is about 08-1 USD I ordered sardines for 30 MAD (about 3 USD). Sardines served with bread basket, salad, lentil porridge and lemon.

Recommend! There are lots of local guy came here as well. I came twice, the first time order in the restaurant, the second time bought the sea food myself and the restaurant responsible for cooking. The second option is better. I bought a whole crab with less than 100 mad. And the way they cook keeps the original flavor quite well.

Every time I visit Morocco I have to visit places like this. You can find all kinds of fish & meat. But also sea urchins, mussels, clams, shrimp, and oysters from Dakhla & Mohamedia. Everything goes for around USD 1 so cheap. Fish of course is by the kilo. They have places nearby where you can have anything cooked to perfection. I recommend this place if you are visiting Casablanca.

I am torn between a 4 and a 1. I seldom leave poor reviews. 會中文的麻煩看我的照片。 慎選。 日本語の説明は写真の下である。 基本的に、気をつけてください。 We dined at a place that had tagine dish with cuscus. That was nice. On the menu they had the seafood, so I ordered the mussels, shrimp and calamari. Tagine was nice, but the seafood was so poor. Never had mussels that we basically couldn’t eat ( the rope was still in the shell there.) shrimp was from frozen, no flavor and were tiny. And calamari was so water down and little, was sad. I fed them to the straight cats. Many locals were eating there. They were only eating Tagine. No locals ordered the seafood. When it came time to pay, has to pay separately. Taigene was to one vendor and “seafood” another. Seafood price was not from the menu. Good thing I took a photo of it. Guy tried to over charge me for the crap that was tiny shrimps and small portions of calamari. I paid the menu price but refused to pay more. In the market, the oysters and uni were nice. I would give it a 4.5 Tagine also deserves at least a 4. Then the seafood was like a -1. Too many beggars and stray cats around.

One of the most attractive seafood markets I’ve seen. Fresh produce at decent prices. Very clean, very busy. Our favourite stall is Chez Zohra, a step away from the hustle and bustle and the pesky touts (beware of those!). There’s a wine shop on the street side, if you fancy a bottle of white with your oysters. The last picture yet here price list.
