The 12 Best Restaurants in Casablanca, Morocco - Eater

"Since 1917, the Marché Central has been providing locals and tourists with spices, produce, and other household essentials. Past the rows of spice vendors and dozens of varieties of olives, you’ll find seafood sellers with the day’s fresh catch straight from the Atlantic. Have a fish sent over to the grilling stalls where it will be prepared to order. Most vendors also have a small selection of salads and plenty of bread for you to enjoy with your meal. Outdoor seating. Takeaway. [$]" - Amanda Ponzio-Mouttaki

Excellent seafood choices! Prices are good. Much of the seafood (oysters, clams, sea urchins, etc.) can be eaten standing up right at the counters, vendors are happy to oblige. There is so much care taken and the pride these folks show in their offerings is not only compelling but endearing. I loved my experience here! I didn't find out if you bought a fish or something here if you could take it outside to one of the family grills to have prepared for a fee and to get sides/salads/drinks to go with it. There are also some first rate butchers here with beef, lamb, mutton, chevaline, goat, and poultry. The produce and products around the market look good, and all of the restaurants. I had some lovely fried squid with lentils, salad, bread, and atay under an orange tree for 100 MAD. Some folks at the table next to mine shared a sea urchin with me and it was delicious. What an amazing experience.

A great place where you can try fresh food served straight to your table. Seafood, fish, meat, you name it. It looks fantastic, but unfortunately, there are a lot of pushy people trying to drag you to their table and offer you something to eat. You can't walk by in peace because 20 people will be trying to get you to sit down...

Cultural Choc for real:) They speak French but do not understand a single word, or they pretend they do not understand... 210 MAD for small seabass, salmon steak and about 12 schrimps. Could not negotiate price at all... 250 MAD for the cooking and too many salads and lentile bowls that lady picked for us. We were offer Marocain tee and small cake because we asked about why 250 MAD... I am not complaining but not sure if we were scammed We were looking for something different, we got served:)

We were too full for any restaurant but stopped by Chez Latifa because Idriss offered free oysters ands from there on we stayed for another 30 minutes. Everything was fresh and sweet! My only teehee was not eating more. Don't forget to stop by and tell Idriss you saw Yuli's review!!

Google
The best place for seafood at an amazing price. It's so fresh you can even eat oysters alive. Just be aware of scammers: they often lead you to random restaurants and serve starters you didn’t order, without any explanation. In the end, you may end up paying more for those than for your main dish.

The location of the movie "Casablanca" is in here !! Support the merchants here - they are good !! The food is fresh !! Prices are for tourists but - such it up, we earned it. Spend it !!

This is somewhat like a bit of the medina souk, enclosed in its own walls, offering well liked fish grill restaurants, fruit and vegetables as well as flowers and other such market goods. Nothing is priced?. The cafes were busy and the fish market had some high end fish and shellfish, much sought after.

Nice place if you like to try real seafood. Highly recommend it.
