Yelp
This review is about 2 years in the making.
I moved into Central Place in its first months of opening. The air of positivity was still there (this is early 2017). The details were important. The guests were welcomed with smiles by all. Front Desk staff would greet with a smile and a hello. The employees were happy to be there. If there were maintenance issues they would be addressed and fixed promptly. This is no longer the case.
Central Place still retains a stunning exterior(except by the loading dock where you will find the siding of the wall ripped off(and it has stayed that way for the past 5 months), but the interior upkeep, how the property is run, and overall service is 2 star at best.
In other words, you will over pay for something they market as luxury.
The Pro's:
-Great Location
-If you are on a higher floor facing Georgetown or the Washington Monument you will have awesome views
-From the exterior at a distance, it's a beautiful piece of architecture
The Cons
-Multiple Elevators have been down for weeks at a time.
-Staff will shut down the primary elevators + service elevator at the same time for moves ins/outs and other events causing 15-30min delays to get up and down to your pad
-Staff use the primary elevators, not the service elevators
-Staff hang out in the residential areas for breakfast and lunch. Yes by the gym, in the TV rooms, etc
-Staff make personal calls in the residential areas as if they lived there
- Although most of this is fixed now, windows leaked for months - They still aren't sealed right for wind; on windy days you hear loud creeks
-The Pipes are an absolute nightmare - Your pipes and your neighbor's pipes will make loud disturbing noises at all hours for a simple flush of the toilet or pouring a glass of water. Although maintenance attempts to fix the issue, they haven't been able to with dozens of visits. It's insane!
-The parking garage entry system going in and out has been broken for weeks at a time. Guests weren't able to get out of the garage, In other instances guests had to manually get out of their cars to push a button to open the garage
-The glass garage door leading out has been broken for over 6 months ( no fix)
-There are many dings, scuffs, paint scratches, pieces of the wall missing on the lobby, 6th, and residential floors
-The smell of your neighbor's cooking floods through the vents ("Nothing we can do")
-The sound of your neighbors washer and dryer can be heard through the walls at all hours
-The pool is less regulated during the summer so it becomes a mini frat city with people inviting their friends, drinking in the pool, putting their pets in the pool etc.
-The landscaping by the pool hasn't been attended too since the place opened
-Concrete and chairs around the pool are broken (for weeks the outdoor shower was missing wood planks)
-the wi-fi in the 6th floor area was down for weeks
-The outdoor grills have been out of order for weeks at a time.
- The HVAC systems has gone down multiple times do to electrical errors. The 6th floor for the past 2 weeks was colder than 50 degrees.
-The game room chairs on the 6th are not hooked up to any outlets so they are useless
-Furniture in the 6th floor entertaining room has been chipped for over a year without any replacement
-The bathrooms on the 6th floor are cleaned once a day (in a building that holds hundreds of people) TP is often missing.
-The gym is NOT 24 hours
-The gym yoga mats aren't washed down daily. People sometimes bring their pets into the gym(leaving tons of hair behind). Some people workout shirtless in the gym(this isn't Gold's bro)
-The front desk is a revolving door. There is one or two nice people that work from time to time, but you often are dealing with the next rentaconcierge who doesn't know anything about the building. The attitudes you get at the front desk make it very evident people aren't aware they are in the Service Industry.
-The Utility bills fluctuate for no reason and the software that bills has billed incorrectly multiple times in the past. The building also charges a $20+ fee for general area electricity on top of other fees you pay
-The fire pit/outdoor TV requires concierge to manually turn on (delays 15min to an hour each time)
-Guests with dogs leave feces in the elevators or allow their dogs to urinate in the front vestibule causing nasty smells
-The garage area has has the fire system release rusty water on to cars and stained the white walls and floors for months. Still hasn't been cleaned.
-Packages have gone missing.
Look, all these issues I may expect at a sub par or average building, but this is not what Central Place is sold as. It's a complete bait and switch. The amount of issues and lack of attention make it very clear that Central Place doesn't pay attention to the details, nor understands them in the first place.
This isn't Luxury. I won't be renewing. Look elsewhere!
