I have lived at Central Place for 3 years and had a great experience with the staff and management. Management: Management was extremely flexible and I never had a problem that they could not solve. In my 3rd lease, I did not submit my outside renters insurance. They followed up, I submitted my proof of insurance, and they refunded premiums. They were very flexible when I changed units and ultimately needed to move out. Front Desk Staff: Exceptional, experienced, and helpful! Iris and the front desk staff are very friendly, welcoming, and make the community. The units were always in good condition when moving in, they look/feel great, and now I can't live without a gas stove. Common spaces are clean, location is great, and the gym+pool is very convenient.

Google
The location is what makes this property. 15 minute walk over Key Bridge and you’re in Georgetown. A two minute walk and you’re on the Metro. A step outside the front lobby and you are anywhere you want to be in minutes. The views from the units are amazing. Also, if you are a dog owner the property is very dog friendly. They even have dog biscuits at the front desk. In closing, if you work in DC, go to school at Georgetown, or work in the Pentagon, this is the place for you. P.S. The staff really knows how to take care of the residents… friendly and professional.

Google
Terrible maintenance issues and they have no clue about how to manage a luxury building. All glass windows around the building are being redone, the parking gates never work and are unsafe, the elevators are always broken. Always. And they pass on the common hallway electric charges to you. The maintenance team led by Sabrinia is completely incompetent and cannot get anything done right. Better alternatives in Arlington and DC for REAL luxury at these prices.

It has been a great place to live! We had a terrible elevator incident for months but not it works well. They hold wine days yoga days many stuff to communicate between the residents and they keep the building very very clean. Everyday nice cleaners will clean very corner of the building. Valet dry cleaning, pet spa, spacious parking, concierge package system all well managed. Great location to DC and many other metro areas too. There is a farmer's market right next to the building every Wednesday. Appliance are all up to date and maintenance teams are excellent very friendly and professional. Asa you request for any problem, they will fix it right away. Although some front desk people don't like to deal with dogs, many things are very convenient. Highly recommend if you are willing to pay for its value. Kristina is the best in the leasing office!

Google
Central Place is absolutely fantastic. Location: The location couldn't be better. Georgetown is a short walk across the Key Bridge and the Metro (located next door at Central Place Plaza) puts all of DC a few minutes from home. Amenities: The gym is always clean and has everything I need. The pool is fantastic. (I wish there was a jacuzzi but that's a minor quibble.). The community areas are well maintained and offer plenty of entertaining options. Staff: The maintenance team is very responsive...if you need anything done...they are there quickly. The front desk is awesome! Ana and Jalicia are helpful and friendly. It's a little thing...but we love hearing "Welcome home" when we come through the door!

Google
The front desk is fantastic, and always make coming home a pleasurable experience. They are always there, with a smile, more than willing to assist with lost keys, packages, random requests, etc. I have lived in many buildings in the DC area, and these ladies are top-notch. Ana O., Jalicia, and Iris are especially delightful. I would have submitted a different review for each of them, however, google does not allow multiple reviews per venue. :)

We lived in Central Place for 4 years. The building has incredible amenities, efficient and friendly staff, and the location is superb. The amenities, common areas and lobby were always clean. The front door staff was always helpful, friendly and attentive. The maintenance staff takes care of any issue promptly and comprehensively. The building manager Kristina is honest, reliable and professional. She responds to complaints promptly and is available for assistance when needed. Thank you to everyone at Central Place for our wonderful experience! I highly recommend it!

Google
I've lived here for almost two years now. Front desk staff is always helpful and wonderful people. Amenities are amazing! I use pretty much everything building has to offer daily so my feedback on it is sincere. Elevators do have issues at times but lately it's been a lot better. Some of the people at leasing office could be nicer but I'm not going to put any names down. I am sure it's something they can fix. My question is if you don't like your job why work there? A simple smile goes a long way. It's very conveniently located. Building is always clean. Too bad the pool season is over but this building always has some special events from wine nights to tequila nights which are always fun to be a part of. Can't forget to mention, the view in my apartment unit is amazing!!!!

Yelp
Silica dust entering the apartments, this is a serious danger and they don't do anything. The noise is constant, the dust is toxic and it will kill you, but not today. They will not disclose the health risks to you. Google yourself construction dust, silica dust and noise from heavy machinery, including pile driving noise.

Yelp
How many concierges would take the time to ensure they had all necessary information for a birthday/new apartment gift you were dropping off for a friend? Iris not only took the time to ensure she had all the correct information but she showed me where she put it and explained to me how they contact their tenants & more. It was nice knowing that my friend would get her package. Thank you, Iris!

Yelp
This is the worst apartment building. the management is HORRIBLE. they have no idea what they are doing. the day before i moved in they called and said "bad news - we leased out your apartment". I was not able to move in on time or in to my intended unit. since then they have been nothing but problems.

Yelp
I have recently moved to Central Place from NYC and gotta mention that the staff here are AMAZING. Ana at the front desk is VERY nice, helpful, and welcoming! Matanya who is part of the building maintenance team is SUPER nice and helpful and always accommodating! He is an asset to Central Place. I'm so appreciative of all his help. Last but not least, the leasing office team Samar and Jordan have been very helpful and accommodating. The only complaint I have is the system for rent payments. For each payment there is an extra charge like $60 for the credit card company and the alternative is to send a check to the JBG office in MD 2 weeks prior to the due date, which is kinda a hassle. Hope JBG fixes this issue.

Yelp
I am a vendor in multiple luxury apartments and Concierge is always the first face that you see. I had the pleasure of being helped by a delightful woman named Anna. She made it her business to say hello to everyone that came in. She would belt out a cheerful "welcome home" to the residents after their long day. Our company Puppy Luv had a puppy meet and greet in the lobby and Anna was incredibly helpful as well as a great conversationalist. It's very hard to find people who genuinely enjoy what they're doing. And it made me believe that Central Pl., is really a home

Yelp
Concierge is rude and got attitude. The lady that's working on March 16th 6:30 pm. I hope she finds a job she truly enjoys and stop hating on life n giving bad vibes.

Yelp
It's awesome here! Lydia is my favorite concierge!! She made the experience so much better. She is so sweet and honestly has become way beyond a concierge to the residents of the building. I'm not the only one who thinks so. She loves serving and genuinely cares about our lives. I love the stove and the oven - I like them better than the electric stoves that all the other luxury buildings have in the area. The residents here are very nice and pretty cool ppl to hang out with too. The package room is smelling better after I moved in and they fixed the flooring too. It gets a little cold in the winter because of the floor to ceiling windows. But I mean the view is just stunning and it's all worth it. The only negative experience is a couple of the other daytime concierges are pretty abrasive sometimes. But I really just avoid them. Lydia is no doubt the best.

Sophia J.

Yelp
Dianna Douglas in the concierge is the sweetest! She is always so nice and assists me whenever I need help with anything!

Yelp
I got trapped in the elevator the first night we moved in and had to be evacuated by the fire department through the ceiling of the cabin on the 16th floor. No one from the building helped in any way or followed up after the incident. We had to call 911 and deal with the fire department directly. The firemen joked that this is a regular occurrence at Central Place. This is the typically and regular type of building issue and service you can expect at CP. The poor construction and management issues are endless and exhausting. Right now none of our parking passes work after bringing it to managements attention over a dozen time. THE REVIEWS ARE ACCURATE. DO NOT RENT HERE. We are counting down the days until we move. UPDATED 2/24/21: ONLY ONE ELEVATOR IS WORKING. TENANTS ARE PACKING THE ELEVATOR AGAINST COVID PROTOCOLS JUST TO GET OUT OF THE BUILDING. MANAGEMENT CAN PROVIDE NO TIMEFRAME TO FIX THE PROBLEM. DO NOT RENT HERE!

Nik N.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by flashy aesthetics, at its root this community is a dumpster fire and looks like one too. The 24 hour concierge is just there for appearances. They don't log in packages. Your deliveries get thrown into a heap on the floor in what looks like a mechanical room or basement and you must search through the pile for your package if it hasn't been stolen. Speaking of theft, $350 noise cancelling headphones were stolen out of my apartment along with my iPad. The concierge is never around. It speaks to the free for all wayward state of the building. Nobody wears masks. There was blood or vomit spread throughout the hallway and elevators on Halloween. I hope it wasn't real bodily fluids and just a prank but I never saw it get cleaned up that evening. The amenities are inaccessible to residents unless you ask the concierge for a fob... If you can find her. Meaning all those niceties are just for show. The main entrance's front door does not work so imagine the security issues there. The apartments aren't old but the inner appliances and doors have not been cared for. The hallways are run down. There's errant marks and flashes of what looks like drywall debris and dust in the hallways.

Mike T.

Yelp
I will start by saying that this is a nice building, the amenities are actually very nice as are the apartments. The reason for the bad rating is because of what they have decided to do with the amenities among other things due to COVID. If you are looking for a building that has certain amenities, this is not your best bet right now. To access anything you need to go downstairs to get a key and leave your ID. You are not allowed to bring guests onto the roof. One example: my girlfriend and I wanted to go to the roof at about 8:10 PM, but keys do not go out beyond 8:00 PM so the suggestion was to wait and knock by the rooftop door until someone finally let us in, which they did. Not a great situation when you are a resident and are paying for these feature and are not allowed to use them. Another example of the current state of things here: I recently had a procedure done on my foot which makes walking a little difficult. I ordered a lot of groceries knowing it would be hard to get them from the store for a while. I called down to ask if they can allow the delivery person up (no one is allowed up anymore) and explained the situation. I was told no, so had to hobble down and get a month's worth of groceries. Certainly a first world problem, but when you purposely live in a building with amenities, doorman, etc these are some of the aspects that are supposed to come along with it. Word of advice: this is not all of the buildings in the area. Many of my friends live in buildings around Arlington and DC that are very reasonable. There are restrictions, but in probably 98% of the buildings here you are allowed to spend some time with a friend on the rooftop in which you pay for. Overall, I wish things were different here as I like the building itself, but the restrictions are a little much. If you are someone who would find comfort in these restrictions it would probably be ideal. Some of the concierges are friendly, but others are outright rude. I have lived in a number of buildings owned by different companies and property managers and this one is a standout in terms of rudeness. There are some who are very nice, which should certainly be noted. Overall not a great tone at the front desk though. This is palpable for your guests and yourself on a daily basis.

Yelp
Super sweet and respectful receptionists! Big thank you to Lydia, for helping me not only find my missing package but also being warm, friendly, and inviting every time I come home late at night. As well as making sure all our requests are met and taken care of . And lastly making this apparent feel like a home!

Yelp
This review is about 2 years in the making. I moved into Central Place in its first months of opening. The air of positivity was still there (this is early 2017). The details were important. The guests were welcomed with smiles by all. Front Desk staff would greet with a smile and a hello. The employees were happy to be there. If there were maintenance issues they would be addressed and fixed promptly. This is no longer the case. Central Place still retains a stunning exterior(except by the loading dock where you will find the siding of the wall ripped off(and it has stayed that way for the past 5 months), but the interior upkeep, how the property is run, and overall service is 2 star at best. In other words, you will over pay for something they market as luxury. The Pro's: -Great Location -If you are on a higher floor facing Georgetown or the Washington Monument you will have awesome views -From the exterior at a distance, it's a beautiful piece of architecture The Cons -Multiple Elevators have been down for weeks at a time. -Staff will shut down the primary elevators + service elevator at the same time for moves ins/outs and other events causing 15-30min delays to get up and down to your pad -Staff use the primary elevators, not the service elevators -Staff hang out in the residential areas for breakfast and lunch. Yes by the gym, in the TV rooms, etc -Staff make personal calls in the residential areas as if they lived there - Although most of this is fixed now, windows leaked for months - They still aren't sealed right for wind; on windy days you hear loud creeks -The Pipes are an absolute nightmare - Your pipes and your neighbor's pipes will make loud disturbing noises at all hours for a simple flush of the toilet or pouring a glass of water. Although maintenance attempts to fix the issue, they haven't been able to with dozens of visits. It's insane! -The parking garage entry system going in and out has been broken for weeks at a time. Guests weren't able to get out of the garage, In other instances guests had to manually get out of their cars to push a button to open the garage -The glass garage door leading out has been broken for over 6 months ( no fix) -There are many dings, scuffs, paint scratches, pieces of the wall missing on the lobby, 6th, and residential floors -The smell of your neighbor's cooking floods through the vents ("Nothing we can do") -The sound of your neighbors washer and dryer can be heard through the walls at all hours -The pool is less regulated during the summer so it becomes a mini frat city with people inviting their friends, drinking in the pool, putting their pets in the pool etc. -The landscaping by the pool hasn't been attended too since the place opened -Concrete and chairs around the pool are broken (for weeks the outdoor shower was missing wood planks) -the wi-fi in the 6th floor area was down for weeks -The outdoor grills have been out of order for weeks at a time. - The HVAC systems has gone down multiple times do to electrical errors. The 6th floor for the past 2 weeks was colder than 50 degrees. -The game room chairs on the 6th are not hooked up to any outlets so they are useless -Furniture in the 6th floor entertaining room has been chipped for over a year without any replacement -The bathrooms on the 6th floor are cleaned once a day (in a building that holds hundreds of people) TP is often missing. -The gym is NOT 24 hours -The gym yoga mats aren't washed down daily. People sometimes bring their pets into the gym(leaving tons of hair behind). Some people workout shirtless in the gym(this isn't Gold's bro) -The front desk is a revolving door. There is one or two nice people that work from time to time, but you often are dealing with the next rentaconcierge who doesn't know anything about the building. The attitudes you get at the front desk make it very evident people aren't aware they are in the Service Industry. -The Utility bills fluctuate for no reason and the software that bills has billed incorrectly multiple times in the past. The building also charges a $20+ fee for general area electricity on top of other fees you pay -The fire pit/outdoor TV requires concierge to manually turn on (delays 15min to an hour each time) -Guests with dogs leave feces in the elevators or allow their dogs to urinate in the front vestibule causing nasty smells -The garage area has has the fire system release rusty water on to cars and stained the white walls and floors for months. Still hasn't been cleaned. -Packages have gone missing. Look, all these issues I may expect at a sub par or average building, but this is not what Central Place is sold as. It's a complete bait and switch. The amount of issues and lack of attention make it very clear that Central Place doesn't pay attention to the details, nor understands them in the first place. This isn't Luxury. I won't be renewing. Look elsewhere!

R S.

Yelp
I've just signed my second lease here with my lovely girlfriend and everything has been great. The apartments are beautiful, maintenance literally repairs any issues the same day you request for them to be fixed, and the management helps you with whatever issues that you have. People have a right to complain about the complex, it's a free country. But as a person who has lived in almost 10 different complexes in 4 different states, Central Place overall is way better than most other complexes. My only complaint (which some others have mentioned) is that some of the concierge aren't the most welcoming, and do take a lot of breaks in the middle of their shifts. The main job of concierge is to be welcoming and making sure that residents are happy. Other than that, I think it's a great place to live.

Yelp
Nice place , nice views , good amenities, and new building but they have serious issues with management and concierge . They seem to struggle to hire a competent concierge. Concierges most of them are rude to residents , unfriendly and unwelcoming. Packages get lost all the time and lots of confusion. Also most other Issues are not handled immediately. It seems that they are overwhelmed and understaffed . To be fair , only one person in the leasing office joseph always jumped in for help. He seems to do it all when others fail . Honestly for this much money we pay for rent the standards are below average . Noise is also a major problem there . Jbg smith failed on this one .

Yelp
Think very long and hard before moving here. The mentions of leaky windows, broken elevators, broken garage gates, inexplicable utility charges, etc. in all of the other bad reviews are spot on. It looks nice on the outside and during tours, but living here is a let down. In reality, being across the street from the Rosslyn metro is about the only thing going for it. There's are reason why you won't find any reviews on other sites.

Ash G.

Yelp
Poorly built building with bad management. Not worth the price and all the headache. Google reviews are more accurate. A lot of better buildings especially for the price. Building turnover rate is extremely high. Pros: Aesthetically appealing Location is good (metro and food) + Rosslyn Cons: Poorly/cheaply built Smell your neighbors cooking everyday (Even people not living on your floor) and the smell sticks Noise through walls Everything breaks including toilet, AC, blinds, elevator for 3+ weeks Mismanaged building and unorganized leasing office All amenities close at 11 PM including the tiny business center (Would expect at least that to stay open) Pay for parking, don't find a spot and park on the street

George G.

Yelp
So disappointed to be stuck in this place for more months. As you can see from my pictures, I am shipping back the dog food I ordered because of, wait for it, rats in the package room. Yes, my bags (in boxes) of dog food were left in the package room and sure enough were consumed by rodents. You can also see the Central Place management solution to this - rat traps. Look, I know it's the city, I know it's near a river, but I would like to think my packages are safe from rodents in the building I pay so much to live in. That is definitely not luxury as they claim. Will not renew my lease.

Conrad B.

Yelp
I really enjoyed living here. Everything - from the room itself, to the staff, to the amenities were all excellent. After almost a year I still don't have any complaints about this place. I'd highly recommend living here.

We have recently moved in to Central Place and I just wanted to give a shout out to our leasing agent Masse for being so helpful and going out of his way to insure our complete comfort and ease of transition.

Yelp
My favorite part about living in Central Place is the staff. The concierge are wonderful. Chanel, Ky and Tonya are always go above and beyond in their job. I appreciate them so much for making this a great living experience after relocating ! They are always friendly, greet every resident (by name which is impressive) and are extremely helpful/ accommodating ! I honestly would not be considering renewing my lease if the concierge weren't so great ! Maintenance always completes requesting a timely manner. The building is beautiful and I love living here.

Yelp
Central Place was alright for us. There were some policies that we didn't agree with but they made up for it in many other aspects. The property itself gets 4 Stars but we've had an issue with a certain individual that (to put it politely) put quite a caustic taste in our mouths for the duration of our lease and following. The management and maintenance team are great and were easy to deal with. Maintenance requests were done swiftly and professionally. A leasing agent named Mitchell was also very helpful when we had an issue transferring services from one place to another. The post move-out was also swift and painless. With that aside we've had several issues with a certain individual named Joseph (Joe). In the beginning everything was gravy. He was very amiable. This changed almost immediately following us signing our lease. As soon as the ink settled on the leasing documents, it seemed like every question we had past that point was a significant burden to him. We've had a few exchanges where he was unprofessional and even borderline rude. One explicit interaction comes to mind. Right after move-out I asked him what the post move-out inspection process entailed. He was very condescending to put it short. Last week, I noticed that my Dominion services weren't moved over correctly by Dominion Power. I spoke with a Dominion Power representative and they informed me that they can have the leasing office call to take over any charges that incurred after my move-out date. Following this conversation, I immediately called Mitchell (who is always friendly and helpful) who informed me (both in writing and over the phone) that Central Place can take care of the charges incurred after our move-out date. Following up from that conversation; I sent an e-mail to the main CentralPlace inbox today (as discussed) and received a (now - expected) scripted response from Joe stating that any charges like that need to be taken up with Dominion. This affirmed our suspicion that not only will he will not take any course of action that is inconvenient to him to help out current residents but that he will also go out of his way to take contrived courses of action to further inconvenience any individual that he sees as not being of any benefit to him. With that said, another particular incident actually comes to mind. When the complex was having a wine tasting a couple months ago; he was 'supervising' the handouts of the sample wine (much to the chagrin and opposition of the marketing team that was there) and was deliberately keeping younger residents from receiving more than two servings. My diagnosis is that he has some animosity towards younger professionals(as I've seen him treat older residents with a quite contrasting level of respect and professionalism). Leasing consultants like him will keep people from wanting to rent at this property, I know it definitely did for us. When leasing , go with Mitchell or the other leasing consultant that is there (I forgot their name). Both individuals that we encountered were VERY pleasant and professional.

Yelp
I love this place! Leasing agent (aka Rock Star) Joey really helped out. Joey showed me a ton of different units over the course of several days and was always very patient and kind. I'm moving from the west coast so there a lot of little things that came up during the move process and he was always there to help. He even called me back on his day OFF, outstanding service so far. The building is gorgeous and the amenities really won me over. I also looked at the Turnburry and the Waterview - but the amenities, gym, service and rooftop pool won.

Yelp
PLEASE RETRAIN YOUR STAFF! Called one time for an appointment to see apartments and spoke to Renee (who is with the concierge). She had mentioned that the leasing office was not available at the time and offered to take my name down for a call back. I declined, and said that I would just give a call back later. She proceeds to say that it would be "annoying" to call back. I'm not kidding, literally said "annoying". This was my first interaction with anybody at this apartment building- what a horrible first impression!Needless to say, I went ahead and got an appointment scheduled. I enter into the lobby to check in for the appointment and speak to the receptionist- ONLY TO BE COMPLETELY IGNORED. I was speaking to her and she didn't even look up to make eye contact. I tried again, and was ignored a second time. I spoke to the leasing office about this, and lo and behold, that same woman was Renee. We will not be returning for another look at apartments or recommending this location to friends, as I don't want anybody to be ignored or spoken to rudely. It really is a shame as the building and apartments are beautiful, but beware... as other reviews mention- RUDE CONCIERGE. Look elsewhere!

Mark A.

Yelp
The biggest issue is the Property Manager, Dionte Dupree. I've gone to him for (3) ongoing issues to where he offered no resolve and just didn't care. Most recently, I was charged for the whole month of November for utilities and I moved in the middle of November. We're talking $35 here and Dionte as of 1/25/18 is refusing to adjust the amounts to the correct amount of pro-ration. What you'll find most disturbing is that fair is fair for most business practices, but Dionte wants to hold onto my $45 and not do the right thing to adjust my bill to reflect my pro-ration. My largest shock with moving in was being charged $55 for a month of common area electricity. No, this is not my apartment electricity which cost $80, this is for all of the common areas. I had approached the Property Manager regarding this issue and he said that "it is common industry practice" to charge for common area electricity. What's interesting about this comment is that other big property management companies like Equity, AvalonBay, Bozzuto and Kettler all do not charge these fees (verified). For the past (4) weeks the garage doors have been acting up. Note, parking here costs $150/month for controlled access. But in reality, controlled access is not what you will receive. When someone comes in to park in retail has access directly into the resident parking for the last (4) weeks. I talked to the same Property Manager regarding this issue and he said that the contractor is fixing the problem. To date 1/13/18, the resident parking garage gates are still wide open. The other night I tried leaving the garage and couldn't even do that and was entrapped in the parking garage that I pay monthly for. When touring, please note the elevators. There are (2) elevators that serve (21) floors - 18 residential and 3 garage floors. The elevators are breaking down every other week (Thyssen Krupp) which means that 21 floors are mostly serviced by (1) elevator. If I was an investor looking to purchase this building, I'd be very weary of what I am buying and what type of negative management JBG Smith has created. If renting and you are willing to accept these inconveniences, I'd say rent here. The reason for my post is for the public to be informed of what they are actually getting from Central Place Rosslyn (JBG Smith).

Michael B.

Yelp
So far, so good. This review gets 5 stars for their 5 star leasing agent Joey. If you do choose to rent here, use him. You won't regret it. Property is outstanding. I don't know why people say the fees are "hidden" when they are up front about them. This review will change when my lease term is over.

Yelp
I love living at Central Place! The location is fantastic, the building is luxurious with a sophisticated vibe and amazing amenities. Stunning views of Georgetown from many units. Masse from the leasing office was great, he provided outstanding customer service and was extremely helpful throughout the leasing process.

Yelp
Great apartment building with amazing amenities. Masse from the leasing office went above and beyond throughout the leasing process. Everyone in the building is nice and the location is fantastic.
