Everything about this place was awesome! Very homey, food was delicious and not too expensive. They even had horchata!!! Highly recommend this to anyone and can’t wait to go back! Absolutely delicious.

I've been wanting to come here for some time now, and when an episode of Good Taste TV aired with this restaurant being a part of the show, I definitely had to give this place a try. We ended up getting everything delivered. We just didn't feel like heading out. The bbq sauce had a nice smokey favor to it. It's definitely a more savory taste, then sweet. I would love to try this restaurant again and maybe the next time around. We'll actually sit down at a table and be around the service and atmosphere, but for right now, it's an average of 3. ::UPDATE:: so we went back and sat down to eat. It's like eating at your neighbors house, that does really great bbq. And now the atmosphere has to be turned into a 5, Food into a 5, and the service into a 5. And if you have never been. Stand in line, order your plate at the window, next order your sides, keep on sliding to the register, and pay. And the bags and the containers left on the table are for your leftovers.

Huge portions for fair price. Delicious! Brisket was tender, Mac& cheese was great candied yams were done well and banana pudding was amazing!

Really enjoyed the food. Ribs, and brisket were very tender and well flavored. The sides were okay. I had macaroni and green beans. But they had live music and made the experience very enjoyable. I’d love to come back with the family so they could enjoy it as well. Oh yeah, the price for the food was reasonable.

This was my first time trying this place, my co workers were so excited. We all got baked potatoes and were sadly disappointed. The potatoes were undercooked and still hard in some places. The cheese was not melted and the bbq sauce was too runny and vinegary. I tried the chicken potato and the chicken was dry, flavorful but indeed dry. My coworker got the brisket and she didn’t enjoy hers either also dry. We decided to give the desserts a try and were all upset. Regrettably everyone tried the chocolate brownie. Let’s start with the fact that it is not a brownie and more like a cake. It was so dense and lacked flavor, it too was extremely dry and the texture was like a mouth full of grainy flour. I will say the serving sizes are huge. Even down to the dessert. That would have been a plus if everything had been enjoyable.

Google
I think this is the best barbecue in Houston. It has everything you could want in a barbecue spot: great food, friendly staff, and fair prices. I’ve been here multiple times, and every time it hits. We arrived super late once, just as they were about to close, but the staff welcomed us in with a smile and served us without rushing. That kind of hospitality, combined with the consistently amazing food, makes this place truly stand out.

Google
Had a Saturday noon lunch here recently. The food was great! I had the Diana plate with ribs & sliced brisket plus 2 sides. They have plenty of sides to choose from. I also got a stuffed jalapeño pepper! Spicy, but too good not to finish at home the next day.

Google
This place is the best! I love it so much, I have been coming here for over 10 years. The food is delicious. I have ordered the baked potatoes, the ribs (SO GOOD), the mac&cheese, the broccoli cheese rice, the green beans, the banana pudding, yams, the sandwiches, and many others. This is 100% a family place, you see it all around you. The staff is adequately friendly, not overly courteous lol it is what it is, they're just real. I will say it is expensive, but it's bbq what can you expect. It has a serve yourself type of feel, where you go and order your food and take it to your table, and then get your own drinks, at the end you let the employees clean after you. The parking is a bit rough, just because it is a small establishment. I haven't gotten the to go orders so I can't comment on that. A couple tips: 1. If you come with a group, send someone to find a table while everyone eats, 2. There are three restrooms, kind of hidden around (just ask someone). I will say I have read a couple of the low ranking reviews, and I disagree with them. But simply put, this establishment doesn't really need any defending, or for those few customers to come back. Their food is good, and it speaks for themselves. Long story short, it is a great authentic place, but just come prepared to spend money.

Yelp
The food is plentiful and yummy every time I have been. Has a rich family history supported by photos through the years. It's an asymbly line counter service with friendly and helpful staff members.

Yelp
The service was wonderful and the staff is friendly. You come in and stand in line to order your plate. They give you the meat(s) and then veggies if you are getting a meat plate. I ordered the two meat plate, brisket and pork loin. I definitely liked the brisket better, but both were good. I got the sauce on the top of the meats and wish I would've got it on the side. The broccoli rice casserole and green beans were very good! The ambiance is very causal. You seat yourself after you get your food and they will pick up your trays off the table when you're done. I'll definitely get it a try again! Probably will get the loaded potato next go round because someone else got it that I saw and it looked delicious.

Yelp
Customer service is good. BBQ tasted as if wasn't fresh maybe a day old meat. Very disappointing! Side dishes lack flavor. Spanish rice was amazing probably my favorite item from my meal. I got the 2 meat lunch special. The desert was awful not sure if it was many days old yellow cake with chocolate frosting I took 2 bites and just couldn't swallow it. I'm not one to complain I like to give the benefit of the doubt but this time I couldn't. Do better or your business will fall apart.

Yelp
What happened to this place? It's SO different from years ago. Someone said the son took over and it's been going downhill ever since then and after our visit that definitely made sense. Used to eat here all the time when our kids were growing up and loved this place. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty empty. We were starving from working on our property clearing trees, so we came with a huge appetite! But it was such a disappointment! Meat was dry and portions were shameful for the price ($22 for two meat plate and $26 for a three meat plate). The three meat had a very small amount of meat, it actually blew me away. The bbq sauce... that is not bbq sauce. It's more like a watered down tomato base of some sort. We really couldn't figure it out. And the flavor was so bad. Oh! Had to spit out the deviled egg (that was NO deviled egg). The potato salad is from a tub. Glazier or Sysco food suppliers, don't lie people. The beans were a big no. Again, that same tomato based, watered down flavor. It's sad when the highlight of the meal was a delicious large Dr. Pepper and a large sweet tea. To top it off after we ate some of our food (that we didn't finish) we were watching the lady clean the trays. She was wiping them down behind the wall by the record player. She drops the rag on the nasty floor and leaves it. Then she comes back with more trays, picks up the rag and continues to wipe more trays down. I was so disgusted with the whole visit and wasting our money and then watching that......We will never revisit. We don't recommend this establishment at all. Go elsewhere. There are plenty of good bbq places just down the road....

Yelp
Central Texas BBQ, A legacy of the once small town of Pearland, Texas .. my home town. This place has served my family and surrounding areas of Houston since I was in diapers. The nostalgia blast you receive from every corner with wonderful Knick knacks, art and antiques, and inside lives the souls of many. You can feel the place breathing with memories of a once past to a most certain thriving future. I miss my Ruth, and will never forget her. I would often call her Saint Ruthie, she would humbly disagree every time. She listened, even when she had a job to do. When I had my heart transplant she and Annie brought the whole hospital floor delicious sides and meats galore. I'm a little teary eyed as I sit here and try to choke down this massive chopped beef tater. Here's to the past, present and future and I pray that there are things in your life that can bring as good of a memory as this place does

Yelp
I've had better. This is my Houston Family's go to place for BBQ, but there isnt a wow factor for me to give a 5th star. I'll likely be treated to it again sometime, so there will be an update in the future.

Yelp
This place smelled delicious from the outside so we stopped by for a quick bite. The inside is like an antique store with all kinds of trinkets everywhere. I ordered 5 different meats total just to see what was good. The brisket was super dry I'm not sure if it was because it was late afternoon like 5pm. The turkey was nice and juicy but bland. I wasn't ready to give up so I tired the house bbq sauce which was bland a little watered down too. The sausage was delicious! And so was the Spanish rice. The baked potato casserole was really good too. The ribs were fall off the bone but nothing special. And lastly the ham was too salty for me. If you only wanna eat sausage, rice and the potato casserole come give them a try.

Yelp
After driving by for just under a year, we decided to stop by and give them a try. I have to say about the decor that it is definitely something to look at....and you can tell right away that they've been there for a very long time. I was actually amazed at how tasty their brisket was without having to drench it in barbeque like most places do in Houston. The service is quick since its more of a cafeteria style order system which is a little different but actually really cool. The sides were decent but not great - I'll have to come back again to try more of their menu.

Yelp
This little gem is one of my favorite bbq spots and it can easily compete with several high quality ones around Houston too. I ordered the Brisket with 2 Spanish Rice and a slice of Pineapple Upside-down Cake this week. All very delicious, moist, very soft and made with love. This is the only place I usually get the brisket just the way it is rather than requesting the flat-lean side. The beef was really tasty, very smoky, nicely seasoned, melt in mouth tender and bold in beef taste. No knife even needed and I had plastic utensils. It didn't even need sauce. The richness and the meat itself were so balanced in each bite. No bland, dry, chewy pieces whatsoever. Many pieces would easily fall apart when picking with my fork, which was a sign of top line tenderness and lengthy time cooked. The sauce was loose and tangy, but I actually like it and whether it's the recipe, the pairing with the smoky meat or whatever. The Spanish rice is my all time favorite side dish here and must have it every time when getting a combo for myself. The new potatoes are also very good n my second favorite side, but some of the other sides I have had are really good here as well. The rice was really buttery, seasoned, a little sweet n tart with plenty of ingredients mixed. You could taste the green olives, peas, corn, etc., which were all cooked thoroughly like the rice. There aren't many places that know how to make a good pineapple u.d. cake, but this place makes a superb one like my mom does. The cake itself was yellow, buttery, full of eggs in its prep, dense, soft, moist and rich. The big, succulent pieces of candied pineapple chunks were big, juicy, sweet and really good. I like several of their desserts, but this one is my favorite here. I also picked up a Sausage n Mac Cheese order for a family member and I also think their sausage here is really tasty, smoky, crispy in the edges and soft in the middle. The mac was pretty good, but needed more sharpness or creaminess imo, but still tasty for sure. The service was very welcoming, helpful and efficient.

Yelp
Delivered by DoorDash...... on a rainy day! The food was well packed and nice portions as well. So, I decided to give this location another try and ordered something different! I tried the Vegan BBQ Baked Potato and it was good, just lacking a few details for me. The potato seemed plainly baked and not seasoned before adding the vegan versions of chopped beef, cheese and barbecue sauce. The Baked Beans were good. I don't know if they have different sauces, the one I received was too bitter and vinegary, I also prefer it a little thick and not runny! Overall, I have to comeback to size and portions making it worth the money nonetheless. Until the next one, Bye-Bye!

Yelp
Our expectations were probably a bit too high. I ordered a double portion of brisket and sausage. While the sausage was good the brisket was a bit too soggy for my taste. Perhaps if I had visited them during a paycheck weekend then their brisket may have been fresh as it tasted a few days old.

Kimberly H.

Yelp
The meat is great, and the sides are okay, but the sauce is absolutely awful. It's really thin and watered down. I would order their meat again, but bring your own BBQ sauce.

Julie C.

Yelp
Mac and cheese is good, brisket sandwich is great and so it the 3 meat plate! Gave me 2 kinds of bread wheat and whole . Not sure why they put pickles in the 3 meat plate but okay lol . Other than that it's good and didn't cost to much to get DoorDash! Thank you sm for the extra sauce also! So good will most definitely be back. Taste just like Demetrius bbq!

Yelp
Still best baked potato I've ever had. Just had to update lol. I miss this place so much now that I live in Austin but best believeeee when I visit home again, I will be going there.

Yelp
I'm not in Michigan anymore. I came straight here from the airport while on business. My friend said it was a must. Boy, it did not disappoint. I got the 2 meat lunch special and had them give me their most loved items. Sausage and brisket. Amazing. Enough food for three people. My sides included Mac and cheese, banana pudding and potato's. Stop here!!! Fill up the tank
google avatar

George S.

Yelp
This food is not Texas bbq it was like marinated meat in a tomato sauce no smoke or flavor. Cuban rice was bland potato salad was a mustard salad I was extremely disappointed with this food and paid a hefty amount for it! No Smoke none!!!

Clifford B.

Yelp
Well, I hate to say this it's not the same. The new owner which one I understand is the son the side dishes are the same but the beef and the ribs they need to fix it or they're gonna go out of business. It's too expensive and there's too many other places that have really good food,so for me we're done. PS the chicken is non-edible. It's so dry. It's ridiculous.
google avatar

Yelp
I got a chopped beef baked potato and it was so big and delicious! Their BBQ is on point!
google avatar

Nikhil R.

Yelp
Man, as hyped as this place is online, the bbq is just not good. The brisket has no smoke ring and is almost boiled in nature. Not that fatty either even though we asked for that. The sausage does not have a good casing, leading to a lackluster bite. Flavor wise it's also not as strong as it should be. The potato salad and yams are great sides which really carry the restaurant. I also do enjoy the live music they have here. Overall, bad BBQ, good sides, nice ambience.

Yelp
OMG! Vegan BBQ menu! I had the baked potato loaded with Beyond sausage, plant based butter and cheeze, onions, and sauce. Plus, a side of sweet potatoes. Hubby had baked potato loaded with Beyond beef, plant based butter and cheeze, with a side of baked beans. + iced tea. Y'all, this is vegan heaven! Co-opener, Ruth Le Clere (R.I.P.), was vegan and her nephew who works there is vegan. The food is amazing, and the atmosphere is totally Texas. Having been vegan for almost two decades, we haven't been in a BBQ restaurant in a very long time. Now we can go and enjoy this kind of place again, and eat till they roll us out the door. (Just kidding, but it is yummy!) The place is unique, fun, delightful. Even got to hear Willie Nelson while we pigged out. This is a place everyone can go to and get a great, satisfying meal. And the portions are Texas-sized! Staff was super friendly and helpful. Cheers!

Elizabeth I.

Yelp
All of their food was phenomenal. I got two meats and two sides and will be back soon.
google avatar

Sam A.

Yelp
Tried the 4 meat plate $31. Links, ribs, briskett, pork loin. Got it wet but should have done dry. Meats were top notch, pork loin a bit dry. Tried several sides - all very good. Process to order, pay and sit is cumberson. Small parking lot.

Kelly L.

Yelp
I've been a regular for years. It's not fancy, and doesn't need to be. This is a down home, family owned, cute little spot. You walk in and you are going back in time through the family history. There are photos on the table tops, the walls, and kitschy collection of antique items. The service is always on point, very quick, you grab a tray order your meat at the window and go down the line for your sides. Most BBQ places either have good sides or good meat and hardly ever both are good. This place has both. I like the pulled pork and the ribs the best, I don't really care for the bbq sauce on the chopped beef so I stick to the pork. The sides are great and the Cuban options are authentic and fantastic. If you like banana pudding, go ahead and get some to go, the portions are huge so you will need a to go box either way. You'll regret not getting it.

Frieda Shafer

Yelp
I ordered a plate with a boneless chicken breast, yams and green beans. The chicken was tough and difficult to chew. Very disappointing. I've been going here since the '80's and it's changed over the years especially since Diana and Ruth are gone. The legacy needs to revamp and step up to the plate. My Mom who is 90 and eaten here for over 30 years will not be back.

Michael E.

Yelp
Good bbq and potato salad. Everything else is just ok. Cheap rice, chez whip, can beans and over baked noodles. They don't get the take out correct or it's super fatty meat.
google avatar

Candice R.

Yelp
First time trying this spot, and was going to be my first meal of the day. It's a definite no for me. The brisket was dry as jerky, I ended up throwing it away. I ate the smoked sausage, but it just wasn't my preference as it tasted like Eckridge sausage and I'm just not a fan of that style. The potato salad was OK, but I could only eat a few spoonfuls bcz it seemed super heavy on the mayo. The green beans had no seasoning flavor and more like bell peppers. I wasted $40 AND had to rush to the restroom. The only good experience was the super friendly and helpful lady at the desk. I told her it was my first time there, and instead of pointing, she actually got up and showed and explained how things go. Everyone else was stone-faced, unfriendly, and unwelcoming. There was a young guy I noticed, with big loopy jet black curls, that smiled. The guy cutting the brisket just seemed focused, but the ladies that fixed my sides and the cashier were a total nope for me. Had my friend not suggested it bcz she's seen this place on TV, I would've just walked out and went to Killen's. But, now I know for myself, this place isn't for me. Had everyone been more welcoming and not like being a customer was an inconvenience to them, I would've been open to giving them another go and tried something else. I definitely don't return to a place that makes me feel unwanted, and definitely don't spend my money there.

Yelp
Been eating here 15 plus years. always fresh. always tasty. love the family environment.

Yelp
This place used to be the best Barbecue restaurant around, by far. Today, I ordered a sandwich with chicken. I don't think I will ever come back, considering how disappointed and disgusted I am with the quality. I hope it's just an off day; regardless, I'll never know.

Andy N.

Yelp
Not a terrible experience, but the food was incredibly unappetizing. The only thing that tasted smoked were the ribs, and they were still pretty bad. The servers were friendly, and the decorations were okay, but the food was mega lousy. No amount of good service or atmosphere could make up for how bad that barbecue was.
google avatar

Brian T.

Yelp
Great customer service. Here's their latest menu. Back room can get really hot so eat in the main dining area.
google avatar

Andy W.

Yelp
Very disappointed with the BBQ. With the hush reviews we figured we found a rip Texas BBQ spot but the web tire group was severely disappointed with all the meats choice we picked out. From the runny BBQ Soup sauce that flooded the plate to the super runny and bland Mac and cheese we were defiantly on the wrong side of the tracks for BBQ. We figured out why they have you come and go through the back as no one wants to been seen leaving this place.
google avatar

Jordan J.

Yelp
I ordered the potato and it's huge. It's for sure a shareable meal. I always ask for extra bbq on the side. The food comes out pretty fast and I've never had a long wait. The inside is not the vibe I prefer, it's kind of eclectic so I usually get it mine to go.
google avatar

Jae C.

Yelp
If you're a fan of the classic pairing of baked potatoes with meat, you'll love this bbq place! The interior is cozy and inviting, with interesting interior antique decors and furnitures and also warm atmosphere that's perfect for enjoying a hearty meal. Service is friendly. But it's the food that steals the show - the meat is juicy and smoky, with delicious sauce. And when paired with their delicious sides, it's a match made in BBQ heaven. Don't miss out on this dining experience!
google avatar

Richard M.

Yelp
We ordered 2 chopped beef sandwiches and 1 sausage sandwich from Central Texas BBQ today, a restaurant we have enjoyed very much over the last decade or more. Disappointed and unhappy would be a good way to describe our experience with the food we purchased today. This makes two times in a row we haven't been happy with their food. Service is friendly prompt and expedient, however we wouldn't recommend anyone eating there now. The chopped beef was chunky and tough, the sausage looked like bologna and tasted worse. Their barbecue sauce is delicious tasting ,but seems diluted 50% with water. Pricing is in line with other barbecue restaurants, but not nearly the quality it once was. I cannot in good conscience recommend eating here based on the current food quality. There are other barbecue restaurants in the Pearland area with similar prices but much more satisfying food.

Desiree F.

Yelp
Tried this place while visiting Texas, gotta say the baked potato is good! Fully loaded with beef... honestly nothing like this in California. The ribs were a bit to salty for my taste but the brisket was nice and flavored. Only down sides (and reason for 4/5 stars) were the Mac n cheese had no flavor and was super watery and their banana pudding also needed flavor/: STAFF WAS SUPER FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING !(:

Jason F.

Yelp
Good bbq, family owned, fair price for bbq. Good Brisket, huge loaded bake potatoes, better than Killens. Service fast and friendly. I've bought a few platters for luncheons and it went smooth. Good desserts and Great place!
google avatar

Indiana J.

Yelp
So we ordered from here for delivery. My sister ordered stuffed jalapenos. So what are you picturing...fried jalapeno stuffed with either cheddar or cream cheese? Wrong! It was a huge hunk of cream cheese with chunks of ham in it (she doesn't eat pork) on top a small jalapeno pepper. Very disappointing. The mac n cheese was like kraft with watery cheese that doesn't stick to the macaroni. The broccoli rice casserole was decent. They are getting 3 stars because of the bbq chicken sandwich. It was loaded with chicken and it had a nice smoky flavor that wasn't too heavy. So if you come get that stay away from the jalapenos.

Yelp
It used to be the place back in the day where you went and got your BBQ I used to love coming here and enjoying a meal while feeling at home , in my last visit I found that the food doesn't taste the same not so juicy the customer service has declined as well, I don't know if they switched owners or they got old or someone doesn't care enough about this place to bring it back to its former glory , the food was also very bland , it used to be that you would go there for that buttery tasty baked potatoes and their baked beans now even the Mac is taste Les almost like cafeteria food , so sad ..

Reed R.

Yelp
Meat was bland , Mac n cheese watery & mushy the baked beans were ok & sweet tea needs more sugar

Yelp
We really enjoyed the barbecue here at Central Texas style BBQ. This is my first time trying to barbecue and let me tell you they knock it out the park. The brisket was absolutely amazing. Nice and moist and tender. Also the ribs are absolutely amazing. They were very tender and full of flavor. I really enjoyed my entire meal here at central Texas BBQ. If you have never been to central Texas BBQ I suggest you stop in and give them a try. I really like your banana pudding is well. The people that work there are very friendly as well. They make sure you get in and out and a quickly timely manner. They have some really cool pictures all throughout the wall. It almost feels like you're stepping into a really old era. I was born in the 80s but this reminds me of like the 1960s or the 1970s. They are doing extremely great job with their barbecue and I highly recommend you try them ASAP. Thanks again central barbecue

Yelp
I have lived in Pearland for 16 years and will always get my BBQ from Central Texas! Eat in or take out you cannot go wrong.

Yelp
I got 5 chopped beef sandwiches from central tx bbq in Pearland, Tx. My sandwich had a hairpin in it. We are are hungry as hell right now but we can't eat this not knowing what may be in there.

Yelp
The staff here are great & I love the family atmosphere. The food however is not so great ..It's very bland & the bbq sauce is watery I've had the brisket the ribs the chopped beef sandwich & the sausage No flavor whatsoever

Yelp
Was excited to try it after reading the reviews but the food was disappointing. The mac and cheese had no taste and the bbq sauce was very watery. The baked potato was enormous but the pulled pork had 0 seasoning. Two stars because everything was packaged to perfection and super fast service.

I have been a customer for over ten years from personal dining to professional catering. Always the best choice for bbq in Pearland.

Yelp
Good hometown joint that serves up better than averaye bbq with really large portions. Sweet potatoes are and amazing side along with broccoli rice casserole.
