"Taking Thai cookbooks from the 1940s to the 1970s as inspiration, David Thompson expertly recreates the culinary lives of one chef at a time through flavoursome dishes, here on the top floor of Central: The Original Store. Highlights include coconut cupcakes with salted pork, and fermented bean curd relish with minced pork and prawns. Sit in the cosy dining room to see the open kitchen or on the outdoor terrace to take in city and street views." - Michelin Inspector

It’s great to see how a giant like Central started out. Their book collection (especially the hard-to-find titles) and pieces of the store’s retail history are fascinating. They’ve also got merch here 👚📓✏️ A huge recommend if you’re interested in the origins of Central.

Always a wonderful time coming here since it's my old neighbourhood as well. The exhibitions are also interesting and loved the one that was showing at the moment. Such great finds for Thai literature and rare pieces and momentos from local artists and Central's history.

if you are interested in the origin or the rise of the Central Group which is the owner of department stores such as the Central Embassy, Central Rama 9, you should probably paid a visit to this address to explore, this is the location where the founders - father and son first started the business around year 1950, yes, more than seven decades ago in a small building doing retail business and operates a small restaurant, for more details i'd recommend visiting the website, for art enthusiast, please note that 3rd and 4th floors are usually used as art exhibitions for various talented and creative artists and i am sure you will be amazed ◆please give me a 'like' if you find my review useful, thanks a lot!

Central: The Original Store is located in Charoen Krung Road, walk-able from CAT and TCDC centre. There are 5 stories. Lv. 1 provides you coffee and restaurant. Lv. 4 is a space for art exhibitions (which rotates every 2-3 months). Souvenirs and books are also on both lv. 1 and lv. 2. Some are a bit pricey. Staff are willing to assist you. You can find many rare oldies books from here :) They are the same owner as Central Embassy. Siwilai club is also located on the first floor, adjacent the book store/reception area. Free entrant.

Cozy space for recalling Central(one of Thailand biggest retailer) history because here is the first store as named of the place. Even it was renovated inside, but we can feel some of the old style. Now there are Central history exhibitions on the third floor until 31 Mar. 2021. It’s very interesting and absolutely free of charge!

I was surprised to find this Central ! The building has a nice retro design, beautiful stairways. There is a cafe on the ground floor and art exhibition on top. The event was quite entertaining, lots of toys from way back then. Nice place to add to your list when exploring the Charoen Krung / Talad Noi area.

A little department store museum with cafe and Thai restaurant. The building with five stories high faced to the Main Street. There is no parking space. The visitors can park at CAT inside the post office about 5 mins walk. The museum opens everyday with free entrance. The souvenir slight expensive.

Great place to check out the history of Central Department Stores. They have a lot of books related to business and a nice exhibit explaining where Central leaders got their ideas from. This might not be a destination, but if you’re in the area it could be nice to get out of the hot weather and walk through the exhibit. There’s also a coffee shop on the ground floor.
