"Along with breakfast bagels, Annapolis has one of the best coffee roasters around — Ceremony Coffee. Head there for a pour-over coffee that will keep a caffeine freak wired all the way to Ocean City." - Tim Ebner

Great coffee and vibes. There's a small coffee menu but it keeps it simple and not overly complicated. They offer some baked goods and cold bottled drinks as well. It has a convenient location in a shopping center not fair from local freeways. Overall, great coffee and great space to relax.

Love their seasonal lattes and shakers! Sometimes I drive from Pasadena just to grab a coffee and treat myself and I do stop in whenever Im in the area. Definitely worth the drive to check it out if you’ve never been bring a friend or two they have cozy little patio area outside and a nice little bar top area inside

SerpAPI
One of my favorite coffee shops in Annapolis but employees have been extra rude lately. Wouldn’t service me and an elderly lady because we forgot masks in car. Said “we needed to walk back out to get or they wouldn’t serve us.” It’s Feb 2022, you could have poured us a cup really quick and handle situation differently, customers sitting at tables drinking without masks. Drove to Ingrano down the street instead and was wonderful!!!

I've had Ceremony Coffee at local establishments but never directly from a Ceremony coffee shop! So this was super exciting for me. Both their drinks and food menus look amazing. It took us awhile just to decide on coffee drinks. We ended up trying the "Lady Baltimore" and a standard soy milk iced latte. Both drinks were soooooo good. The "Lady Baltimore" though.... TO DIE FOR. It's Espresso, almond milk, sour cherry, lemon zest and vanilla bean meringue. Again, TDF. Prices are so reasonable for the wonderful quality. Service was alright. They could be friendlier and smile more. A nice little spot to have breakfast, grab coffee or do some work from. I am definitely going to be coming back often!

SerpAPI
Best coffee in Annapolis by far. We are super picky about our coffee-no burnt beans here and the food choices are consistently top quality. Both locations are great-different vibes but same great coffee!

SerpAPI
Best coffee in the DMV area. Even beats some of my fave spots in Richmond. These roasting geniuses spend so much time doing QC in the lab, and it really shines through on every batch. The tasting notes are always spot on, and every blend is unique. The flavors really come through. And the environment/vibe here at Riva is warm, comfortable and great customer service. Love stopping in.

The coffee itself is fantastic but my first experience sitting inside to try and work was pretty awful. The acoustics are terrible and this location gets extremely busy. I love Ceremony Coffee, but this is my first and last time visiting this particular location.

SerpAPI
Favorite spot for good coffee. Whether iced or hot, Ceremony has a good selection and offers quality coffee. They also have Soy and Almond milks for dairy alternatives. Great atmosphere and good music. Great for some school work hours or just to hang out with friends.

Yelp
Ceremony is a Maryland based coffee roaster with three locations including one in Annapolis. Fortunately, they have a relatively late closing time of 7 PM, so we stopped by last Saturday evening after dinner. The interior is really nice and bright, with some long tree trunk decor near the window which was really neat. There were lots of beans and merch available for purchase. BEEHIVE - 7 This is a summer 2024 seasonal drink, which is an espresso tonic that is bursting with flavors of honey, orange blossom, orange zest, and cardamom syrup (inspired by Arabian sweetbread). This was such a light and spritzy drink that was perfect for the late summer weather. The orange zest was prominent and same with the cardamom. I'm sad to hear it's only seasonal because I most definitely would get this year round. Overall, good coffee spot. My friends enjoyed the drip coffee they got here.

Yelp
Lid is not tight and leaks. Barista needs to lose the attitude. Iced mocha wasn't up to par as usual. Update: Asked for my coffee to be remade because it didn't taste chocolatey as usual, and was made perfectly. Was given a refund due to not liking it the first time and for waiting longer than usual. Lid can improve because it leaks a lot!

Yelp
Ceremony is possibly the best coffee in Maryland. I may even go as far to state that they may also be the best spot for most creative espresso concoctions. If it is your first time visiting, go for one of their seasonal offerings! Also, if you venture in during the morning, grab a breakfast sandwich--SO GOOD =) My only complaint is that the to-go cups never have tops that stay in place or not leak. I have never left without asking for a different top or to take two cups due to the over spilling and caving in. Also, do not go by their "featured" menu on Facebook since it has not been updated since 2018. It is best to use their Instagram for the most updated drinks and specials.

Yelp
I visited this Ceremony location this week when I was in Annapolis for work. I realized I'd been before as I was driving towards the location, but I guess I forgot to review it at that time. I'm a fan of Ceremony Coffee (I visit their Baltimore City location semi-frequently; there's not one near me anymore), and this location is a pretty good one. Good service, good coffee, bright space. Plenty of parking since it's in a shopping center. My only gripe with it is the amount of seating they offer. It's not a tiny space, and I think they could get some more tables and seating in there with a bit of work. But they have 4-5 small tables and 1 or 2 high top tables with 6 or 8 seats at each. Not outlets that I could see, but there might have been some and I didn't notice. This is more seating than some smaller independent coffee shops have, but this isn't a tiny space. The way it's laid out and tables they have inside keep it from being a really great place to work. But I enjoyed my cappuccino while I replied to a few emails!

Yelp
Tl;dr -- Check everything you buy and make sure they didn't just slap a sticker over the bag printed label to up charge you for a coffee you didn't want-- pictures attached. I've been drinking Ceremony coffee for a solid 3+ years and have loved every bit of it, until this past weekend... I bought a bag of Peru Cenfrocafe, but when I brewed it, tasted it and looked at it, it didn't seem right. The tasting notes that I got were different than what was listed, which made me look at the bag more closely.... What I found was a Peru Cenfrocafe label, placed over top of a Climate Project printed bag... pictures attached. I reached out to Ceremony directly through their Instagram page since their website doesn't have a contact listed for inquiries... picture attached... This was sent to them at 7:38 am on 9/2/2024, to which I've received no response, though, they've read it... I sent them my issue along with pictures of the Climate Project coffee bag with the Peru Cenfrocafe sticker label over top... along with other pictures of multiple other bags I have that have NO label printed on the bag, underneath of the sticker label... pictures attached I cannot in good faith recommend this company to others now, under the sheer fact that we as consumers do not know what coffee we are getting now, not to mention the false advertising on the bag of "Peru Cenfrocafe" that I bought, actually being a bag of Climate Project..... also forgot to menton the price difference between those 2 bags of coffee... So, all in all, I'm not really sure what they're trying to do as a company, but I'm not a fan of it in the least...

Yelp
As a specialty coffee company owner I can say for certain this place is great!! Leena is super sweet and the entire staff is passionate about what they do! Definitely recommend the white shakerato!

Yelp
Ceremony was convenient for me to grab a quick coffee because I was in the area. This place is nice, the store is clean and the staff are friendly. My only complaint might be paying 4 to 5 dollars for a flat white that's only 8oz. That's pretty small, but it was decent. If you want more for your dollar I'd go to another coffee place. The coffee should've either been less money or a little larger in size.

Yelp
Chow is fantastic. He worked with me to find exactly the drink that works for me. He is honest and when I accidentally ordered two drinks he remembered me and reimbursed me the next time he saw me. He clearly takes pride in his work and I highly recommend all of their products! Wifi seems available as many people go there with laptops etc. Can get loud, as it is an open room.

Yelp
Great, fresh coffee? I even had a cream cheese danish which was excellent. The ambience was rustic and industrial. Cool vibe.

Yelp
After dropping DGD at school, DD and I headed straight for coffee! This is in a shopping center only a couple of miles from the school, and sounded good. Such a bright and inviting place! It's just ... fresh. The person who took our order was so friendly and accommodating. I got my usual mocha, while DD tried the fireside latte, which was made with maple syrup, walnut bitters, and smoked salt (??). Service was a delight, and we had our drinks within minutes, and out the door! My mocha was PERFECT. I'm serious. I cannot find a negative thing to say about it. DD said her latte was "interesting" and tasty, but not what she expected. Pricing was average, $10.60 for the two of us, plus tip. Parking is free and plentiful. Now that I know how close it is to the school, I may make a habit of stopping after drop-off!

Yelp
Such a cute, cozy spot! Get the banana coffee!! It is so delicious and one of the only banana coffees I've ordered that didn't taste like fake banana flavoring. It was creamy and tasted of natural banana! It was absolutely delicious and I would get one everyday if I could!

Heather S.

Yelp
I was in Annapolis for the weekend, and decided to stop here on a whim. I wanted a good cup of regular coffee for the road that wasn't from Dunkin or Starbucks. The barista that helped me was very friendly and upbeat. I ordered a medium coffee, but it seemed barely bigger than a Starbucks tall. I ended up being really disappointed by the flavor of this coffee. Every sip tasted sour. Coffee can have a lot of flavors--sour shouldn't be one of them.
google avatar

Raquel R.

Yelp
The coffee was delicious! The place has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone coming into town

Jessie D.

Yelp
Great coffee and now that InGrano supplies the baked goods, those are also delicious.

Yelp
I like the ambiance its modern and chic with different yummy coffees. I havent tried any of the alcohol concoctions yet though

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop that's a good place to either read a good book or sip on some joe contemplating where can you runaway to and sallie Mae won't find you to repay these stupid loans. I've been here twice and both times were pleasant. The first time I visited I got one of their specialty coffees which was flavorful and a bit citrusy. The second time I had more time to sit and indulge in the scenery and got a ham and cheese sandwich with a chai latte. The chai latte was delicious, they made it with steamed milk (just how I like it). The sandwich was ok, I mean it's hard to mess up a ham and cheese sandwich to be honest. I do wish they'd expand on their food menu, it's limited but I think that's due to them not having the space to create much dishes. Will I be back? Yup, there's a few more beverage I'll like to try.

Yelp
I was so excited to finally visit this cute coffee shop, because I work nearby and I was in dire need for some good coffee rather than my normal Dunkin' Donuts.......What a HUGE disappointment it was. I walk in around 7:15am to be greeted by a slender frame guy about 5"4 tall with dark hair shaved/tapered on the sides with a mean mugging facial expression working at the register, with the best frown he could possibly display. No welcoming smile or even a hello. Almost as if he was pissed off about having to take my order. Not only surrounded by his frown, but also by another employee that could barely make eye contact with me, I'm guessing because I had a puzzled look on my face as to question, " what's wrong?". So I ordered a 16oz black coffee, and that was exactly what was given to me with an attitude. $3.00+ dollars later while leaving a 2.00 tip , and not even a returned smile or a Thank You. I hurriedly, sweetened my coffee and rushed out.. I could not stand the unwelcoming stares and rudeness that was brewing in this place. I will never ever come back or recommend this establishment to Anyone ever. The customer service here is less than 1.
google avatar

Kell M.

Yelp
This is the best coffee shop locally for sure. Have tried a few others, but none off the customer service, unique speciality drinks, and quality taste that Ceremony offers. Love the interior aesthetic! Great design, very minimalist and calming with tons of seating. Love that they have real cops to drink out of while you're there Only compliant is coffee could be even stronger (personal preference) but the drinks are still very good. Definitely pop in if you're in the area!

Yelp
Unlike the top-notch Ceremony in Baltimore's Harbor Point, this one left me cold. On a first visit, unfriendly staff were disinterested in talking about the coffee (nobody in line). The homogenous late-morning crowd all but filled the smallish store with their presence, but not with energy. Strange for a place that should be heavily caffeinated. I selected a mini-bundt cake from the meager pastry offerings. Asked if it could be warmed up, was tersely refused with no explanation. The cake? Well, it was unfortunately adhering to the "gluten-free" trendiness, and tasted like it was made by someone who once saw a bundt cake. It might have been better warm... Add in the bizarrely twisted, cluttered parking lots of this heavily paved part of suburban Annapolis, and the place had all the charm of an airport Starbucks. Skip it unless you work nearby.

Yelp
Not cheap, but I didn't go for cheap coffee, I went for really good coffee. And I got it. Lovely, bright and sunny space.

Yelp
I have gone to this coffee shop for over 15 years. We moved away the Summer of 2022 and I was missing Ceremony so much. We came back for a visit to Maryland last week. It is so disheartening how disappointing both visits to Ceremony were. The first day we went, they were out of two of their specialty drinks, the pour over coffees my husband and I ordered were lukewarm at best, and the avocado toast was nothing like it used to be. The second day we went back hoping it would better, I got my old cappuccino standby. Again, lukewarm and absolutely no effort at any coffee art with the foam. What happened Ceremony???? We were so disappointed! While the staff was friendly, the quality has gone downhill. Not sure we will visit again and the upside is we won't miss it anymore.
google avatar

Kiana L.

Yelp
My go to location although both Annapolis locations have the friendliest staff. Love that they always push out new seasonal flavors keeping their coffee fun and delicious.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Such a great find and alternative to the usual coffee chain places. The espresso has subtleties of spices that give a great unique flavor. The "latte art" makes a great addition to an already different place. My husband had the nitro cold brew in a can. He liked it so much he got a "buy 3, get one free" deal so he's got some to take home. The atmosphere is minimalist and clean. I really enjoyed it, but could see how some people think it more sterile than a warmer Starbucks. Who wouldn't want a sterile food place, though, am I right?;) We didn't have food, but their pastries looked fabulous! I should have asked more questions and looked more into their story, but regardless, I felt I'd found something unique in this coffee spot.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to sit and work! Lots of outlets slog the wall with the bench. I ordered the Garden Party. It is an espresso with lavender rose honey and steamed milk. I ordered mine iced. It was so pretty and topped with a rose petal.
google avatar

Athiel A.

Yelp
Nice ambiance, crowded table layout. Good coffee. However, I would recommend the Baltimore location over this location. I bought a bag of roast coffee and was expecting to get a complimentary cup of coffee with that purchase, like other roasteries often do. Also, the avocado toast is better prepared at the other location-- bigger toast and runny yolk.
google avatar

Kenya G.

Yelp
We stopped here while waiting for my friend for lunch and got a coffee. While there was nothing really special about this coffee shop, it gives off a Starbucks feel without the outrageous Starbucks pricing. The menu looked really cool, there were so many different options I have never seen before and the pastries looked delicious. We wanted the crossaint fruit tart but forgot to order it lol. I just got a black coffee and it was very good, I liked the blend they have. If you're shopping on the plaza I would definitely give it a try
google avatar

Angela O.

Yelp
Always a great cup of coffee and well-crafted espresso drinks. A wonderful local roaster whose beans are used around town. Nice shops, great staff.
google avatar

Kate S.

Yelp
I LOVE Ceremony's seasonal drink menu. The drinks are honestly perfect and so creative. The seasonal drink at the moment is a Spring Fling Latte with rosemary, lavender, oat milk and lemon sugar. Get it iced and man... SO good! A bit pricey, but you totally get what you pay for!

Kelsey C.

Yelp
The best lavender latte I've ever had.... And I've had several. Nothing compares to this one.
google avatar

Lavender T.

Yelp
What a nice surprise! Had a Cortado and I had a Hot Chocolate with Oatmilk! So tasty! Both rich in flavor! The oatmilk in my HC mad it so rich! The Cortado was full bodied, smooth!! No acidity! Also had a Gingerbread cookie! Got the ginger taste, not overly sweet, firm but not overly crispy or too soft! The Americano was good as well!
google avatar

Nona C.

Yelp
It was a light menu, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Summer menu options. The Good Vibrations cold brew was prepared with a blueberry and hibiscus cream of sorts that's was super tasty. My non-coffee drinking husband thoroughly enjoyed his vanilla chai tea latte. Yum!
google avatar

Jannet C.

Yelp
I haven't been here is while, so it's time for another update. This is the best place for coffee in Annapolis! These people are truly passionate about their coffee. Not only do they have the classic, coffee, cappuccinos, lattes, mochas and teas, they also create unique drinks every month. For example, there is the Turkish Delight with almond milk, pistachios and cherry with their already perfect espresso. Today, I had their mocha. I usually do almond milk, but the barista recommended oat milk, bc she says it is frothy and creamy. I'm so glad I got it, my mocha was perfect balance of sweet, bitter, and creamy goodness in a cup! They also have some beautiful artisan sandwiches and breakfast, such as avocado toast with poached eggs or smoked salmon toasts, turkey melt and many other wonderful items. Awesome cafe, I'll be back for sure!

Maddie M.

Yelp
ceremony coffee is way better than rise up. I don't get the hype around rise up and why there are so many locations. Their hot coffees taste sour every time I go. Ceremony knows how to make good coffee they never miss! It's like drinking a coffee cloud You can tell they put effort in. Also reasonable prices! I hope they open more locations!

Yelp
I read about Ceremony's coffee roasting prowess and filed it away as a place I would love to try but probably never will. I mean when will I find myself even remotely close to Annapolis? Turns out... yesterday was the day. Ceremony is a very no nonsense shop. There isn't a lot of extraneous decorations or eye-catching colors. The shop let's their coffee do the talking (and decorating). To the left of the entrance, you will find a wall of freshly roasted coffee bags. Each bag is clearly labelled with a roasting date, country of origin, type of roast and flavor notes. On display when I visited were a variety of styles including coffees from Brazil, Guatamala, Mexico and Ethiopia in light, light-medium, medium-dark and dark. They also had a holiday blend and a different version. I picked up a light-medium roast from Brazil for my aunt and a medium dark from Guatamala for myself. When I approached the counter to pay for my bags of coffee, I noticed Ceremony had a special holiday coffee flavored with Gingersnap and oat milk. Uh, don't mind if I do. My wife inquired about a type of tea Ceremony offered on their menu. Both baristas stopped what they were doing to talk to her about differences between tea types. One of them carried the conversation on, even throwing in some coffee information, for a couple minutes. Knowledgeable baristas willing to provide information without being condescending? What even is this place... The Gingersnap coffee was fabulous, it even came with three tiny Gingersnap cookies that I dunked into the brew. My wife left the tea bag in the water for too long so she was underwhelmed (or is it overwhelmed) by the bitterness of it. We chalked this up to user error. If I ever find myself in Annapolis (or DC or Baltimore) again, I will make a Ceremony visit a priority.

Emily K.

Yelp
Great coffee, I've never been served something that wasn't delicious. I love coming here to get work done. Always really clean. The team there has made it really warm and inviting with things like hand-written signage and even a couple cute stuffies put up behind the counter.
google avatar

B B.

Yelp
Fans of lighter roast coffees will enjoy the drinks here! Had a simple iced Americano and enjoyed the quality and the mild bitterness to it. Female barista/cashier was very kind today, but the curt and unfriendly behavior from the male barista on 4/17/22 left a slightly bad taste...seemed like he thought he was doing me a favor when I bought a bag of beans...I hope the service improves on that end as that kind of energy doesn't make me want to return, despite the quality coffee.

Phillip P.

Yelp
Great staff, fine brew We enjoyed the locale, clean and bright. Knowledgeable barista.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've update my review. But i wanted a better experience. Unfortunately I am not a fan of their espresso. I ordered a double shot with some half and half over ice and the person taking my order seemed perplexed. When I got my drink the shots tasted dead. I didn't even up finishing It. I also asked for a kids temperature hot chocolate for my son and It was hot. The person making the drinks didn't connect with me even though I tried to ask him questions. I was unimpressed with staff and the coffee. This makes me sad as they are the local Annapolis roaster. Atmosphere is good. Some good food choices are available.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been coming here on and off for a few years. Really like their coffee. The staff is always friendly even when they were dealing with very rude grouchy customers (Yes, I've witnessed that on my recent visit. Kudo do the barista who kept his calm and stayed collected). The place is cute and bright and is often busy! There is really not once when I stop by and seeing people taking up majority of the seating! I've only got croissant here a couple of times in terms of food, so I can't comment on that. But the menu does look yummy and tempting. One reason I took a star off is for the lack of non-dairy milk option for latte. As an avid drinker of coconut milk latte, I was slightly sad that there was only soy milk option... but with the quality of the coffee here, I don't mind sticking with just coffee sans milk of any sort.
google avatar

Kristin C.

Yelp
Coffee was good, but strangely, there are little stuffed animals all behind the counter. It's an odd decoration that doesn't fit in with their vibe (especially when compare to the roaster in Annapolis). Again - good coffee, but out of the normal decorations behind the counter.
google avatar

Hannah K.

Yelp
I was so happy to get an iced latte from Ceremony again for the first time in months. I asked for my latte to be sweetened with vanilla syrup. It wasn't as sweet as I wanted to be, but it was still a good latte. I liked how there was plexi glass separating me from the whole cashier and coffee bar. There was only one employee when I went on a Saturday afternoon. I didn't have to wait too long.
google avatar

Yelp
I popped into Riva for lunch after visiting the roastery nearby, and loved the opportunity to fill the day with more Ceremony time! Riva does not fall short in contributing to Ceremony's reputation for some of the best coffee in the area, while also providing a full food menu. The spring macro bowl was delicious! A hearty, colorful salad packed with tasty roasted veggies and chickpeas, with flavor punches from the turmeric tahini dressing and HEX Ferments sauerkraut. The cafe itself offers a fair amount of seating by way of several individual tables and a communal high top table. A great spot for coffee dates and work alike!
google avatar

Luice T.

Yelp
Stopped in here on a cold night to get something warm to drink. Cute cafe but very mediocre chai latte. It was heavily spiced and too sweet, not enjoyable. Unfortunately like most places, you can't control the sweetness of the chai.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
The baristas there are friendly and love to talk coffee! We got two seasonal pour overs that were amazing! The atmosphere is chill and inviting! Will be back!

Yelp
Being in this area and finding a good and consistent coffeehouse is tough. Ceremony Coffee Roasters at Festival at Riva is tucked within the large complex and is a delight to have in the area. While their food menu is static, the melts that they serve are well-made (and they take time to make). The coffee is the real reason I come here as their cappuccinos and lattes are rich and made with high quality espresso. If you order coffee drinks for inhouse, seltzer water is routinely served. The cortado is by far my favorite drink here. I used to come here mainly to study, and there is a row of seats with tables where it may get busy at certain times of the day (lunch/right after work). When I find my perch, I find this location to have a good ambiance for focused studying. The wifi is good and fast. I recommend this location for social occasions and for people who need a place to sit and read/study.

Yelp
While out running errands I decided to stop and grab a cup of coffee.. And since it's been my mission to find the perfect coffee shop I thought this place would be a running contender.. The decor was cute though small.. There is one communal table which seemed to be the waiting place for people as they were stalking the single tables.. My drink and breakfast sandwich were perfect! They even make a little leaf in the froth of my togo cup.. I just wish I could have sat and enjoyed it in the cafe instead of sitting in the parking lot in my car.. This will surly be my go to for great coffee when ever I'm in the area!

Yelp
Excellent flat white. Quiet shop. Friendly staff. Only serving drinks in take out cups so no porcelain cups . I like my flat whites in porcelain if possible. Otherwise top notch.
