Astral Tequila Cocktails in Sacramento | Eater

"From the same team behind Urban Roots Brewing and Smokehouse, this East Sacramento eatery specializes in Mexican food with a distinctly Californian style (like french fries in a carne asada burrito). Tacos filled with fried mushrooms or sliced smoked brisket are standouts here, served on freshly made tortillas. With beer and agave spirits at the core of the drinks menu, you can’t go wrong with a classic Astral Blanco margarita, made with freshly-squeezed lime juice, simple syrup, and a splash of Cointreau." - Bernadette Machard de Gramont

Google
This is my all time favorite place for happy hour. Starts at 3 pm and goes to 6 pm. The unlimited tacos with a beer is a great deal. The food is just fantastic.

Google
The food was absolutely delicious. I had a chicken quesadilla and I was sad when it was all gone. The location is not the greatest, the parking sucks, but the food was worth the headache.

Formy T.

Google
Delicious tacos and selection of brews in a light atmosphere. A small interior or but plenty of exterior seating to enjoy a cool pint with some delicious tacos. For sure try the mushroom taco as it tastes like your at the beach

Really wanted this to be good all around, but we likely won’t be back. Pros: the tortillas are superb, I believe they make them on site. The tacos were large and ingredients fresh. Ceviche was solid. Seemed kid and dog friendly. Impressive salsa station. Cons: Cost and the mixed drinks. Get beer instead. My wife and I stopped in recently for our first visit since the Shack was in business. We each got the 2-taco combo (plus rice and beans), split the $18 ceviche and got two maragritas. With a 15% tip came out to $100. The tacos and portions were very satisfying. Quesabirria, Al pastor, fish and diablo shrimp. All bomb. Fresh ingredients, very tasty, came out quickly (under 10 mins on a busy day). The downside where the margaritas. I got the Mezcal margarita, which taste, like medicine, and my wife, got the Paloma, which taste like well tequila. Watered down and gross, pretty disappointed with those. I don’t think I will take another chance on a $12 margarita that tastes that bad, just get beer instead. Or go to Mezcal on Broadway for solid margaritas for half the price. I think the trick to this place is get one or two tacos à la cart, maybe one beer. Should keep the tab from being shocking. All in all, worth trying, but would not recommend a repeat visit. We'll stick to Mezcal.

Really great food! The chips and salsa are fantastic and they make a really good margarita! I got the burrito. It was fantastic. This place has a really good atmosphere and it’s really fun to eat outside during the summer.

Google
Kind of a hidden gem. I had no idea this restaurant existed and I drive past it everyday. The sandwich board on the sidewalk caught my attention and the mention of Urban Roots validated me going there immediately. I ordered the Pozole and it was absolutely delicious especially in this winter weather. Staff is super friendly and there is plenty of seating. We will be back!! Also, the Horchata is delicious, but I think drink re-fills are $5 which is slightly criminal.

Google
Food was just okay. Not very authentic. Meat was kinda salty. The pastor lacked flavor. We had carne asada loaded fries, birria tacos, and street tacos. We came around 2 on a Tuesday which was also happy hour. Service was good, counter order with a number, seat yourself. Friendly staff and quick service. Vibe was cute, full bar, and they had a good happy hour. The taste of the food was just a let down. Not horrible, very edible just not as authentic as I was expecting…it’s more similar to mas taco bar which is not bad but if you’re Mexican (like me) probably not on your lists of places to eat

Google
Food & drink were amazing. The patio outside is really nice and clean. Overall a really cute fun place to be.Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
I come here all the time. All the tacos are delicious. The burger is one of the best in Sac. Happy Hour burger rules, too - don't always want a double, ya know? Great staff and chill vibe. Salsa bar is also dope.

Yelp
I recently came by Cerveceria after seeing a video of their viral Birria Crunchwrap, & let me tell you, the hype is real! Parking was not ideal, but service and food were great! My partner and I ordered the birria crunchwrap, a brisket taco, michelada, & a beer. The birria crunchwrap was soo yummy! I will be back for this item for sure. The brisket taco was sooo good too, the meat was nice & tender. The queso fresco on top was such a nice touch! The michelada did not have a traditional michelada taste, but it was still great! If you love trying new places & like good Mexican food, I definitely recommend! * Their happy hour menu is great too!!

Yelp
The margaritas was good. I got the Cadillac and it was tasty and well balanced. The place was filthy though. Really dingy inside, sticky floors, dirty walls, and small interior. My friend and I chose to eat outside on the patio which felt like a neglected backyard carport. Dusty concrete and sticky tables... ick. Plus the place was overflowing with barking, whining dogs and kids running amuck. Let me clear.... I am a mom and I have zero issue with people bringing well-behaved, well-mannered dogs and children to outdoor dining/drinking spaces... but when they are running around, falling over in the aisles, banging into tables, and alerting/yapping at every other creature that goes by, they need to stay home. Servers did very little about the dogs (which should be so much easier to address than someone's human parenting skills). Also, the food was pricy for how mediocre it was. I got a bunch of different types of tacos and each one was meh. I was also surprised how few Urban Roots brews they had available. There was only one when we went. ‍

Yelp
There are a lot of great Mexican restaurants in the Sacramento area, so I decided to try Cerveceria to see how it stacks up. Unfortunately, it didn't. It's not terrible, but I found it to be overpriced, a bit unkept, and unauthentic. They have a nice salsa bar, with some interesting flavors, but it was really messy. It looked like they hadn't wiped up any spills all day, and they were out of salsa cups. I'm not a fan of their chips which are so thick and hard it was like biting into pieces fried tree bark. I kept searching the menu for a super burrito, but couldn't find one, so I ordered a California burrito to go. It was $19.00, which seemed a bit expensive, so I expected sometime really big and flavorful. Unfortunately it wasn't. It was smaller than I hoped, and nothing about it stood out. There was some meat and other ingredients, but it seemed like I got a of tortilla and French fries for my money. The service was ok, but not great. They didn't put anything like napkins, utensils, or salsa in my to go bag. I got the impression the staff was more interested in pushing drinks and watching football, than me as a customer. I like the atmosphere, and the Mexican lager was good, but they didn't make up this restaurants other shortcomings. I'm giving it a meh, and three stars.

Yelp
The first time I wrote a review for Cerveceria by Urban Roots was in 2023 and I had given 4 stars, well I have been upwards of close to 20 visits since then and I can definitely say they have been upgraded to 5 stars! I'm obsessed with their California Burrito! I mean to the point where I crave it at least once a week - with their green salsa and pickled onions. YUM. We visited last night and I of course ordered it again. It was on point as always! My daughter loves their Kids Quesadilla Plate that comes with rice and beans. I also love their Bean and Cheese Burrito because there is a grilled cheese skirt on the inside...drool. I usually will order whatever is on their specials menu too - Pork Belly Taco, Fried Cojita Taco, Birria Ramen with a Quesabirria Taco. All good! The one thing I never do is order any appetizer, but they do offer complimentary chips and salsa so maybe that's why, I think I will next time I visit! They offer a long list of beers on tap and top shelf margaritas as well! We love sitting in the outdoor patio - it is always shaded and they have misters going on really hot days. There is seating inside as well, but it feels a bit cramped in my opinion. Staff is always friendly and food comes out quickly! We'll be back very soon! Check them out if you haven't been!

Yelp
Popped into the Cerveceria on a Saturday late afternoon with some friends, and honestly, I was surprised it wasn't packed! The place has total Tex-Mex vibes--bright colors, upbeat energy, and a super chill atmosphere. We ordered the Birria Crunch Wrap and the taco combo (sliced brisket taco + quesabirria taco). The quesabirria taco was packed with flavor, and that dip? Chef's kiss--perfect pairing. Since the spot is owned by the folks behind Urban Roots, I wasn't shocked to see some BBQ on the menu, and wow... that brisket taco? Absolutely delivered. But the star of the show? The Crunch Wrap. Imagine Taco Bell's version but leveled up in every possible way. I'd come back just for that beauty. Bonus points for the unlimited chips and salsa bar--because who doesn't love that?! Drinks were also a win. My guava margarita was so good--refreshing, sweet, and just the right kick. Staff was friendly and quick, which made everything even better. The only downside? The price. Two margs, our meals, and tip came out to $83, which felt a little pricey. Still, if I'm in the area and craving some bold Tex-Mex flavors, I'd happily swing by again--just know it's not your budget-friendly taco night.

Yelp
Hands down some of the best tasting tacos and great quality meat! The chips are thick and crunchy, perfect for nachos. We tried the smoked brisket and carnitas. Very casual vibe, only downside is parking can be pretty limited.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent tacos, a smashing crunch wrap with birria, and a groovy vibe make this place an excellent easy button for Mexican crave emergencies. Well lit, but divey, which is exactly my speed. Gonna be back!

Yelp
This cute little place is located on Folsom Blvd in East Sac. On our visit here, we noticed that the patio area had manu more diners than inside. They have a really comfortable outdoor seating area. Upon entering we were greeted immediately. Ordering is done at the counter and they bring the food you your table. Both workers were extremely friendly and helpful asking if this is our first time here. We ended ordering mostly off the happy hour menu. The smash taco was the first taco burger I've had and was juicy and tasty. The carnitas taco and tingas tacos were also superb in taste, appearance, and portion size. The four piece small bites were also very good. Warning: the stopped jalapeño us VERY hot. Only thing I would change is to use thinner tastier chips. I don't say this much these days but this spot is also a good price value. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
Finally made it here after wanting to try it for a while. The food came out quick and hot, which I appreciated, but overall I was a little underwhelmed. The flavors were decent but limited, and I was hoping for something a bit more. Great little chip bar with several salsa choices. Inside was very loud, and the staff spent quite a bit of time laughing and chatting with what looked like friends at one of the tables, which made the vibe feel a little chaotic. In hindsight, I probably should have sat outside, where it seemed more relaxed. I love a lively vibe but it seemed out of place. That said, I'll definitely give it another try -- the menu has a lot to offer, and I'm hoping the next visit will be a better experience.

Yelp
Such a cute spot! My boyfriend and I popped in here for a bite & service was very friendly and quick! Great menu with many vegetarian options. Free chips & unlimited salsa bar elevates the experience! We got a Taco Tuesday street taco & a burrito bowl w fried mushrooms for protein. I loved the option for black beans (no lard) & how attentive staff was to my dietary needs. Food was delicious & portions were very fair for the price! Ambiance inside is fun - there is ample indoor and outdoor seating. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I decided to try them today after craving Mexican food and hearing great things about them. I was not disappointed with the food at all. Everything was fresh and I enjoyed their free chips and salsa bar. I also liked how it was counter service and the ambiance was like a small family gathering place. I ordered a pork belly taco with my steak fajitas. Both were really good. It filled me up without making me feel as bloated as other Mexican joints do that have more grease or fat in their food. Of course since it's owned by urban roots I had to get a pint of their awesome beer. I'd say the only negative in my opinion was pricing because it did feel pricier than most other taquerias. Besides the pricing, however, it was definitely worth checking out. I might have to try their other menu items and maybe a cocktail if I'm in the area again in the future.

Yelp
Great place for tacos and birria crunch wrap. Plenty of food per serving and a self serve chips and salsa bar. Flavors were great, plenty of seating, and service was quick.

Yelp
Went here with my best friend after a short hike. Ordering was quick and easy. We got the chicken tinga tacos with a side of rice and beans as well as the shredded beef tacos. We also got an Horchata and pineapple agua fresca. Although we didn't sit outside, I do appreciate all of the misters, especially on a hot day. Very cute inside and love the chips and salsa bar! The food was delicious too. The Horchata was a little watery for me as well.

Yelp
First time here. I should have tried beer since it's a brewery, but I went with a mango margarita which was just okay -- left feeling a tad bit of a headache from the drink. I ordered the nachos and they were massive! Definitely shareable between 2-4 people; would have been nice to know that they were huge before ordering them. My friend had. 2 taco combo. She said the quesabirria was okay; she's had much tastier. Overall though, great ambiance. Nice staff. Lots of seating outdoors and some inside. They have a good salsa bar with many options, including pickled onions and limes. They have an outdoor restroom; it was fine, not super clean but at least no bad smells. Seems more of a chill, come grab a a beer with friends on the patio vibe. Although, I did see some kids today too.

Yelp
Solid brisket and pastor tacos. You can't go wrong with happy hour either. The ceviche hits just right on snackish days. The cali burrito is pretty hefty and delicious!
google avatar

Cindy B.

Yelp
A+ for friendly service, good prices, and excellent food. The brisket nachos are fire. Their drink choices are also amazing. I especially adored their margaritas and their Mexicana Colada was my absolute favorite .

Yelp
Great patio and yummy modern casual Mexican food! FOOD: We got the nachos, birria Crunchwrap, and chicken enchiladas and everything was super tasty. The cheese sauce on the nachos is homemade and addicting. Plus there was a huge serving of meat and guac on the nachos. Everything is fresh and seasoned well. A good balance of a little spice, but nothing crazy. And they have my favorite hot sauce, Cholula, if you want more kick. DRINKS: We had a michelada, slushy guava margarita, and hibiscus margarita on the rocks. The drinks were good, but I think I would probably stick to a beer or normal marg next time. AMBIANCE: The patio is pet-friendly and family-friendly. There is plenty of seating but the tables are a little tall for the benches... minor detail. They have built-in heaters for the winter and a shade structure, so that's nice for most Sacramento weather. The bathrooms and clean and well-stocked. SERVICE: The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The food came very quickly! Overall we were blown away with the food quality and portions. The prices are a little high, but we will definitely be back to try some more!!
google avatar

Yelp
I enjoy Urban Roots and drove by this place, decided to spontaneously try out some tacos. Brisket taco: B+ I enjoyed this one a lot with the cheese on top plus pickled onions for flavor. The brisket itself is tender and tastes good. Maybe would have meshed better overall if it was chopped up instead of one slab of meat. Fish taco: B- I enjoy a good fish taco, this one was just okay. The fish could have used a bit more flavor. Churro beignets: B- Sounded interesting, they ran out of the dipping sauce which would have made it a lot more enjoyable but they were nice enough to comp it so I got to try it for free. The exterior is very crispy and flaky almost like a croissant, while the interior is soft and fluffy. Great service, lots of outdoor seating.
google avatar

Jillian Maree B.

Yelp
Great service, great people, great vibes! Not only is it a cute spot, but there's a wide variety of food to choose from! Their music was also really good and theres open seating and a bar! I had the margarita (hibiscus) , so good! The team was so helpful and checked in on us many times! Chevy, Dillon and Tidwell were on top of everything. I ordered the shrimp taco, california burrito and sliced brisket taco! I'd definitely stop by when you have a chance and craving Mexican food!
google avatar

Yelp
I've done my self a disservice by not coming here since they opened. This place is a freaken gem! Love the location right on Folsom street. Parking is street parking mainly, two on site spot and 1 handicap spot. Indoor and outdoor seating. Love the vibe and set up of this place. A vibrant eatery in the heart of East Sac. I got the Crispy Tacos and they blew my mind. The best crispy tacos I ever had. Just soo crunch, the beef was abundant, the whole thing was an amazing. It was also 4 tacos! Margaritas aregood, the mezalita is amazing.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
Great food at a great price with the best Mexican happy hour in town. Service is friendly and quick even when busy, and the ambiance is fresh and chill. Honestly, makes me feel like I'm not in a busy city, but in a friendly corner of a homie neighborhood. Just a warning though, the nachos are huge as are the grande tacos.

Chloe F.

Yelp
We love urban roots so we figured we give this place a try. The service was quick and friendly. However, the patio felt really dirty and had a weird smell. The chicken tacos were SOOO salty and the fish tacos were bland. Margaritas were decent but we both got so so sick a few hours later. Not sure if it was the food or the margarita mix but we unfortunately won't be back.

Deltona M.

Yelp
Tried a few different tacos and menu, they all were good. Potato taco was my far favorite!
google avatar

Aaliyah J.

Yelp
The food is fantastic. So let's start there. And all I had was steak and chicken street tacos for Cinco de Mayo weekend. Alongside a frozen margarita which was also delicious. It's hard to find steak tacos that are tender like mine and they were . The salsas are also delicious . I brought my two littles and we had great food. The only star I deducted was that perhaps they were a little underprepared for the turnout because at 1:30 the salsa and chip bar was quite empty and they were inundated with customers. The line to order was out the door! Which I loved because I knew it would be good. Next time I go I'll order off the menu. I can't wait to try all the things . Sorry no pics. I forgot all about it .

Yelp
Visited for the first time with a few friends on a super rainy day. I have been to Urban Roots so many times and have always wanted to try The Shack. The interior is really bright, colorful and cheerful - evokes an almost tropical vibe. The booths are deep and tall but not super comfy. Ample covered patio space outdoors. I can see this being a great spot to grab a beer and some tacos on a warm summer night. You order at the counter and get a number for your table. The service was friendly, quick and easy-going. The food comes out as fired/ready. Lots of UR beers on tap and some specialty/seasonal cocktails to choose from as well. Large variety of salsas to sample from the complimentary chip/salsa bar. Food: -Nice crisp chips and fresh salsa, I am partial to the verde. -Double Cheeseburger (I know, I know - a burger at a taco joint?). Word on the street is this is the best burger in town - can't say I agree but it was darn good. Cooked smash-style, similar to In-n-Out special sauce. The fries were super thin and crispy. I'd order it again. -Al Pastor Taco - the pork was chopped too finely, causing it to be overcooked and almost crunchy - a shame. Could have used more pineapple too. -Quesabirria Taco - this puppy was ginormous and a great deal for the under $7 price tag. Great consume, nice crisp tortilla exterior. Only complaint is it's a freaking mess to eat, as quesabirria is known to be. -Pork Pozole - my friend really liked it and the portion was very generous. -Carne Asada Taco - perfect cook on the steak, plentiful filling. I had the seasonal Cranberry, Rosemary Vodka Martini that was exceptional. The garnish was so cute and the sugar rim was to die for. Wish I could recreate it! My friends had some beer and they are already huge UR fans. Glad I got to try it out. When I am back near Corti Bros / deep East Sac again in the future, I'll keep them in mind for a return visit.
google avatar

Brianne P.

Yelp
Cerveceria is a must if you're ever in East Sac. The food is always excellent, and the drinks are even better! I love getting the Al Pastor burrito. Also, for the vegetarians you can get fried mushrooms as your choice of protein; they're so good! One of my favorite places to come for Happy Hour in East Sac because of the cute patio and cheap drinks/ food. They have misters and water bowls for doggies. Also, there is fresh tortillas being made outside on the patio, too. Love this spot.
google avatar

Kristal R.

Yelp
My first time here. I thought the food and drink was just okay, and definitely overpriced for the portions. Not sure that I'll return unless it's during actual happy hour; however, I did enjoy the tropical patio vibes and the reggae music. It was a lovely summer evening on that breezy patio.
google avatar

Devon L.

Yelp
We're already fans of Urban Roots, and we were new to the area so came to check Cerveceria out! Tried a Cadillac margarita which came out in a clay cup, and sat out on the patio where we saw the team pressing the tortillas fresh. The el pastor taco was so flavorful - would definitely order again. A bit on the pricey side for Mexican food, but great flavor.
google avatar

Joey S.

Yelp
A great place in East Sac to gather with friends and eat good food! Location is great to meet up, and there are a few big tables, so going with large groups isn't too much of a hassle. Their menu has most of the standard fare you'd find at Mexican restaurants in the USA. While the prices can seem a little high, just know that the quantity of portions you receive is really high! Also, make sure to load up on the chips and salsa bar.
google avatar

Yvette G.

Yelp
This place has been on my list of places to try for some time. I ordered the fall harvest salad with carne asada. The meat was cooked perfectly, and I thought the salad had good flavor. I also ordered two Chile verde specials to go. I thought the to-go portions were smaller than if you eat at the restaurant. Service was excellent. Everyone was very friendly. Of note, you have to order at the counter for food. Also, chips will be brought to your table, but there is a self-service salsa bar. If you want more chips, no problem just let one of the employees know.

Nessa F.

Yelp
I've passed by this place plenty of times without trying it. Glad we stopped today, food was very good and came out fast. Nice spot we will be back:)

Yelp
What a happy place to relax and have a good meal at. The staff is great and the ambience is joyful !
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
My new favorite place for tacos and happy hour in Sacramento! I've been twice in the last 3 weeks for happy hour and it does not disappoint. Happy Hour - $5 dollar street tacos, $6 grande tacos, a range of other appetizer like items on special, discounted drinks, and they even offer all you can eat tacos for $25 with a beer. The staff is incredibly friendly and always willing to help if you need something else! There's a small indoor area with quite a few booths, but an even larger outdoor area with a mixed of covered and uncovered tables. Would higly recommend for groups, families, and friends!
google avatar

Naz K.

Yelp
Cerveceria at the shack has some amazing tacos, fish taco was incredibly fresh, refreshing toppings slightly spicy. Juicy Smoked brisket taco on freshly made tortillas with onions was incredibly good. Staff are polite and professional, place is comfortable with plenty of seating inside and out.

Cynthia J.

Yelp
The burger was award winning. I tried it and loved it. Fries were a side prize too. The outdoor feel is relaxing and nice. You will enjoy the service and atmosphere.

Yelp
Great East Sacramento spot for excellent Mexican food and drinks.Urban Roots brews and a delicious menu make for a great meal. Recommended ‍

Yelp
I know I say this a lot, but this is seriously my favorite, FAVORITE taco stand in (East) Sacramento! The ambiance gives me major SoCal/SD vibezzz with its beachy decor and chill music playing overhead. Customer service is on point; and provided great recommendations. I wanted to try a little of everything so I opted for homemade guacamole +chips, shrimp (battered) taco, carne asada taco and a side of the most fluffy, flavorful spanish rice. This guacamole is SO flavorful! It's the closest to authentic you can get. You can tell they put extra lime and the avocados are fresh. Be sure to order this because it pairs perfectly with the homemade crispy, crunchy chips. The carne asada meat is my absolute favorite with little pieces of steak fat, every bite is bursting with juicy steak goodness. I can eat these forever, they are that good. Order multiple of these! My shrimp taco was refreshing. The battered, crunch was a nice surprise as I thought these were grilled shrimp. The secret orange cream sauce was the perfect topping to go with this taco. Order this! They make their own tortillas, homemade from scratch and these are the best. If you love tacos, this spot will not disappoint. Everything is delicious, fresh and very flavorful. Be sure to Bookmark or visit today!

Yelp
The interior is nicely decorated... The salsa bar is primo, it has a great selection of different salsas and they offer fresh cut, juicy limes.. The Birria tacos were good with flavorful and tender meat. The missing ingredient was meted cheese within the taco... I feel like there was too much meat in the tacos... the corn tortilla could have been more crispy. Don't get me wrong there were not bad, but I've had better... The refried beans and rice were okay... The guacamole is seriously some of the best guacamole in town... Good happy hour beers on tap. The full bar is nice if you're looking for cocktails. Staff is nice. I would return for another visit.

Yelp
I love the patio of this restaurant. It's very open and relaxing and there's plenty of space. Their salsa bar was great as there were so many options. They also brought out chips to our table throughout the night. I was very disappointed in my tacos that I ordered. I got the taco meal which was a pretty good deal, 2 tacos and a side of rice and beans (I did double rice because I love rice). The mushroom taco was so overly battered and fried, all I could taste was grease. My fish taco was alright, just really dry and quite spicy. My rice was also dry and hard in some bites. My boyfriend ordered a California burrito and it was excellent. It had a toasted layer of cheese on the inside and it added such good flavor.

Yelp
Good: overpriced mediocre tacos and salads Service; walk up and order, get your own water etc. Ambiance: nice patio.

Yelp
I've been here a few times. I think all of their restaurants are pretty stellar. When I want to consume like 2,000 calories I choose Cerveceria and get the burger with bacon. Probably the best smash burger in Sacramento. It's similar to a Big Mac if a Big Mac was made with delicious ingredients and love. Sorry Ronald.

Yelp
Original dinner plans changed last minute, which led me to my first visit here. We arrived around 7:30 and stood in line while looking over the menu before ordering. Once we got to the hostess we ordered a number of things to include, 6 birria tacos, 2 shrimp tacos, 1 Carne Asada taco, 1 agua fresca drink, and a goblet size Paloma drink...total was just under $100bw/tax. We got our drinks first along with some complementary chips and salsa, and our food started arriving about 20 minutes later. Our son inhaled his 3 birria tacos in a few minutes, and then joked that his tacos were "ok" after showing us they were already gone. My girlfriend and I enjoyed our Paloma drink as she started first with her Carne Asada taco, and I with my shrimp taco. Then we both finished dinner with the birria tacos...all were pretty good! OVERALL: Definitely left full and enjoyed some really good tacos and a trip that wasn't originally planned. Definitely a good spot to check out if you find yourself in the area on Folsom Blvd.

Yelp
The breakfast burrito is definitely a meal and a half - loved the crispy hash browns in it! The ordering process is weird starting at the counter and having everything delivered. Would much prefer a QR code at the table to order - especially for refills.

Ambiance was chill. Food was delicious. The smell of the meat being grilled in the back was mouth watering. Drinks were strong but not too strong. Will definitely be coming back

Yelp
My husband and I stopped by for lunch with our newborn. You stand in line and order at the register before sitting down. It was kind of chilly so thankfully the man at the register cleaned one of the booths inside so we could sit after we ordered. We ordered the Crispy Tacos and they offer potato, shrimp, or beef and allow you to do 2 different kinds. I ordered potato and beef but received shrimp and beef which I didn't mind since I like all three. My husband ordered the carnitas and carne Asada tacos plate which comes with rice and beans. He loved it. They give you chips and they offer a salsa bar with your meal and the salsas were so delicious. We placed an order to go for the Chile Verde, Fajitas Burrito with Chicken Asado, and the Carne Asada Breakfast Burrito. My Jamaica drink was also delicious. The restrooms are lacking here but despite that, the food was phenomenal.

Yelp
I'm from San Diego and this is the closest I've gotten to comparably good Mexican food. Bravo. Tacos are fire and so are the burritos. You can't go wrong!

Yelp
Birra Tacos are the best. They are large tacos with a cheese skirt on top. They are very rich and delicious. The broth they have to dip them in is the perfect touch. I highly recommend them. They also have a salsa bar that is fantastic. They have so many varieties. Parking is a little tight. They have a few spots in their lot and the rest is street parking. We've always found a spot. Seating is available inside and out. People are always frequenting both options. We like the inside as it's warmer when it's cool out.

Yelp
Loved The Shack under previous owners; we were hopeful the Urban Roots takeover would continue the tradition. Not so much. As Vegans, we're of course biased that way -- so, how many vegan options are there on the menu? Zero. Zip. Nada. Okay, let's take a look at the beer selection, since it is Urban Roots. If you like IPA's, you're in luck. A Pilsner here and there, a light ale or two. Red? Nope. Brown ale? Nope. Belgian? Nope. Porter? Nope. Stout? Yeah...no. Nice people still work there, service is quick. The chef was gracious enough to come to our table to try to help us with food selections, explaining their rationale for frying mushrooms in honey and doing the rice in beef stock...but as one member of our party mentioned, it's 2023 and this is East Sac, not Iowa. Have at least one or two purely vegan options, please. At any rate, it's still a decent location and cool vibe. Not sure if I'd go out of our way to get back here, however.
