Tocaya Organica’s Giving Away Tacos Today | Eater San Diego

"Ensenada-based Cervecería Transpeninsular collaborated on the Martinez, a 5% ABV martini-inspired beer flavored with juniper, angelica root, coriander, orange peel, and olive brine, and the beer will be available at the brewery’s Tijuana tasting room as part of the release while supplies last." - Candice Woo

I loved stopping here! The location is beautiful with a stunning patio with ocean views. The tacos were lovely. I like the blonde ale, the Czech Pilsner, and the gose. There’s a cute brewery cat. They have a playground with swings and a slide for kids. The service was exceptional. They treated my friend to a birthday shot. 3 cheers to this wonderful Ensenada gem.

Google
The vibe was nice but service was slow and food was mediocre but pricey. We ordered their $850 (pesos) sampler for our party of 10. It did feed everyone. Was expecting the nachos to be good but chips were thick and store bought tasting. We also ordered the 6 set beer flights. We only liked 2 of the 6. If you're looking for good vibes this is a nice spot but do expected slow service and mediocre food.

I had and loved the slayz the haze. Our round for the whole group was very affordable. It has a fun music and great atmosphere. Plenty of good options too!

Google
One of my favorites breweries in Ensenada. They know what’s up. I love their food menu too!

Google
Great beer, good food and always a fun party. We go there for events and they always do a great job hosting. Thanks for the good times!

Google
My favorite at Transpeninsular are the fish tacos together with their on site brewed Playitas. The place is very nice, a little loud on busy nights, but so much fun. I thought they would get most of their business from the near by Marina Coral, but tonight, it seems to be only locals, not tourists.

Google
Really nice swanky place, good comfort food and respectable brews! There were four of us and we had an appetizer to share and each a meal. The 3 adults had beers too. I had the blonde and also a coffee flavored beer. Both were good! I liked the atmosphere and being able to see the brewing tanks. We sat upstairs and the view inside and out was great. The staff was nice too but not so attentive. That would be great if you just want to hang out too but we didn't. The menu was in Spanish and English. My only real issue was the large dog running around the tank area and barking so loudly which echoed. A restaurant bar is no place for a dog especially a noisy one; loose a star and a repeat customer. There are many other places in the area.

Google
Celebrated my brother's 40th birthday here while in port from a cruise. The staff was very nice. We brought our own cake. They even kept it in the fridge until we were ready for it. They brought it out and lit the candles for us. The food is pretty good too.

Yelp
Fantastic food and brews! What an amazing place where Padres fans are welcome among many other groups ‍, , , family, and dogs too!

Yelp
While the bridal party was practicing for the wedding, the rest of the guests found this brewery to hangout at. I ordered a few of their margs, which were pretty good. I wish they weren't as watery. Our server was doing a great job of checking on us until all of a sudden he stopped and was no where to be found. We actually had to go search for him so we could pay before leaving. But the views of the ocean on the outside patios are pretty relaxing.

Yelp
This is a must-try stop if you're driving down to Ensenada. The service is swift and great. We ordered the fish and chips and the aguachile and they were both incredibly tasty, seafood in that town is truly unmatched. We tried some of the local beers, they have a wide selection of IPAs. The ambiance is casual with great alternative music playing, I highly recommend visiting!
google avatar

Dustin B.

Yelp
The beer is tasty as it should be for a brewery. Great variety too. But even if you don't drink beer, stop by for the food. We were impressed with the fish tacos which were (today) made with mackerel but were not oily or fishy. The loaded fries with bbq meat was just ok. Service was 10/10 and everything inside is top notch and beautiful. They can definitely handle big groups easily.

Yelp
I rarely review breweries, but since this a Mexican Cerveceria, I felt it would warrant a review. The brewery is very spacious with two levels. The top floor has great views of the ocean and they also have tables outside, but it was too windy and chilly to be hanging out outside. Service was great, and the food was good. My brother in law ordered a pizza. I personally wouldn't order a pizza in Mexico, but I did eat one slice and it was good. The beer was great though. Some had cool names like Senor de Sombrero, but my favorite was their sour beer Transpassional. It was crisp and refreshing, and I knew my wife would love it so I took a crowler back with me. All the other beers we tried were still pretty good though. Will definitely be coming back, hopefully on a warmer day so we enjoy the outdoor seating.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. When we arrived a little after 11am, we were bummed to find out that we could only do take out beer and that they don't let people sit inside until after noon. I felt that was a little bit odd since all of their staff behind the bar and walking around were there, but nonetheless we came back after noon and sat outside upstairs on their deck. It has beautiful views of the ocean in the distance as well as the peninsula where La Bufadora is. We decided to go back inside because it got pretty chilly out there once the fog and winds rolled in. They have flights here and a good selection of beer so this is a must if you're looking for great craft beer in the Baja peninsula. This place was fairly busy on a Tuesday around lunch time so you can tell many locals or non-locals alike frequent this place often! Will be back

Yelp
The burgers were awesome and the place is big with lots of seating. I would not recommend bringing children here because the music has AWFUL language. The service was pretty good. It took forever to get the check at the end of the meal and there weren't a ton of people so I'm not sure what took so long. I'm sure he just didn't want to make us feel rushed. Bathrooms were pretty clean and it had everything you needed (TO, paper towels, soap) and all the sinks toilets were working. I know that seems like a weird thing to put in a review but it's Mexico. You can't always expect to have everything available in the bathroom.

Yelp
Great service, great brew, great atmosphere, great pricing, & beautiful space. we had wanted to go for quite some time. since we had a friend visiting we decided to take him and glad we did. From the minute we arrived everyone was friendly. the recommendations that were provided turned out to be wonderfully tasty. ensenada is such a great city. the only disappointing thing of the entire visit to the brewery, is that they didn't have enough stock of their glasses for purchase. I love collecting brew glasses to use as regular glasses in my home, & was unable too. guess that means I'll have to come back. Lol. See you soon...

Yelp
Nice beer selection. Beer was cold. Staff was very nice and accommodating; spoke fluent English. Foos was not bad but not the greatest. I'd return.

Alice H.

Yelp
One of the best spots right outside of Ensenada port. If you want good service and amazing food this is the place for you. The sampler platter made me even happier. Price for the quality and quantity is amazing. Should be a go to spot on your way into town.
google avatar

James R.

Yelp
This was my family and I's second stop on our Tuk Tuk tour around the town of Ensenada, Mexico. This is an up-incoming brewery that is usurping itself on the scene of micro brews. We had the sampler, which for the price (we got it for a little more than $4 USD) was worth the money in my opinion. The beers are as follows (starting from left): . Tierra Clara (Blonde IPA) . Carretera 3 (IPA) . 3 Virgenes (Hoppy Amber) . KM 5.5 (Milk Stout) What also got this review to a five star was the friendliness of the wait staff and the adorable dog named Dugan! I recommend this place to any who want to try a new brewery while in Ensenada!
google avatar

Janelle S.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, great views and live music. We had the fish and chips. I'd definitely stop by again for a drink and some ocean views.
google avatar

Nichole C.

Yelp
Who knew you could find some of the MOST delicious beer smack dab in Baja?! I love this place, and come pretty often. They always put the sports games on for me which is hard to come by in Baja sometimes, they will even play the sound! My favorites here is the Playitas and their Cheeseburger, I know I know, but its one of the best I've ever had in all of Baja!
google avatar

Sonya B.

Yelp
Always a must stop whenever I'm lucky enough to be in Ensenada. The brews are solid which is impressive given the wide range of styles offered here. This dark beer drinker is a big fan of their KM milk stout and my hubby enjoys their selection of IPAs. Yet on a hot day, I enjoy their flavorful lagers too. Food is less consistent and rarely impressive but on the last visit our entire table had fish & chips and everyone was very happy.

Todd H.

Yelp
Good beer and good food. However, the service leaves much to be desired. The upstairs terrace has a beautiful view of the ocean and marina. This restaurant repeatedly denies weekday access to the ocean view because either: they will not hire the staff to serve the upstairs area; or the staff that are working are too lazy to climb the stairs. Even when placing the order downstairs, they would not bring the food one flight of stairs and left it on the bar for me to get it (there were 2 bartenders with about 5-7 people sitting in the bar area). This is LITERALLY the only restaurant in Ensenada that would do this as everyone is extremely accommodating.
google avatar

Yelp
Great beer and atmosphere. Very family friendly with a small playground out the back, really enjoyed our session here.

Yelp
Fun, clean sports adventure bar. Dog friendly;)) Owner is super guy and let's us set up mobile massage and Sup rentals. Wednesday jam is good for local music community. Food is delicious, some new healthie options are my favorite;)

Yelp
Good quality food and good beer thats always the beauty of baja and good atmosphere a place you must check out for yourself

Yelp
What a great surprise! I come from Carlsbad and love the local brew pubs. The beer, the food and the establishment is very impressive. I also got to meet Collin and Gaby, the owners. Within minutes they made us feel like friends. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
Don't come hungry because your food will NEVER be brought to you. We put our order in and waited OVER AN HOUR for them to finally bring something out of the kitchen, and were confused when only ONE of the two items we ordered arrived. We waited about 15 minutes to see if the rest of our food was coming slowly behind before asking the waiter. It never came so we tracked the waiter down to ask him what was going on. He seemed confused but said he will check. He went down to the kitchen for several minutes, walked up, past our table, said nothing, then finally came back to say the chef "forgot" the order. Didn't he realize when he grabbed ONE plate for a table of TWO that something was missing? He completely forgot to put the order in. So then we wait another 15 minutes and decided to just get the check and get the hell out of there. That takes at least another 10 minutes. The waiter hands us the food in a to-go box, along with the check (even though we said "forget it, we just want the check") and said he did not charge us for it. The only positive of the experience. After waiting several minutes for the waiter to appear again to take our card, another waiter comes up to our table with the first dish we ordered. I told him we already got that order. He looked super confused and had no idea what to do. He asked if I wanted it and I said no. Does anyone communicate here? I felt like we had to be in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares or Pranked. So much disorganization for a place with just okay food and beer. Will I ever go here again? HELL NOOOOOOOO!!
google avatar

Denys V.

Yelp
Awesome spot to hang out and have a beer! They have a wide selection of brews, if you are in ensenada, this is a safe and chill spot.
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped in late on our last night. This place was very close to our hotel, and we kept driving by so we decided to give it a whirl. Beer is no longer my preferred beverage, but I do dig the Craft IPA type products. Interestingly, this establishment is the creation of someone that worked at Stone in SD. Walking in we noticed a trendy set up, and the place was PACKED! We had just eaten so food would not be on the menu. My buddy and I decided on a sampler of four, which included three IPA selections and an Amber Ale. While the beer was good, it was not COLD and neither inspired the WOW I was hoping to achieve. The servers were also young, while lacking the knowledge and the skills we had been receiving all over town. I would return to see if their food offerings are better than the beer.
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
Great beer, food and atmosphere. This place also has a view of the harbor on the 2nd floor. We always stop here first when on our way to Ensenada for shopping(It's not more than 10-15 minutes from the main shopping strip in Ensenada). We ordered the promotional hotdog and pint of beer, ceviche and pint of beer, French fries, 2 additional 8oz glasses of beer and finally two growlers of beer to take home. The total cost was $805 pesos or $47.35

Yelp
We absolutely love this place. Service: friendly and attentive. Beers: great variety. The flights are great because we can get anything from reds, lighter like blonde and porter. We love how open it is and the big screen TVs are cool.
google avatar

Ryan F.

Yelp
Being located within walking distance of our hotel made this place a "must stop" while visiting Ensenada. The space is open and bright, with the brewing tanks visible, and lots of bright road signs on the walls between the TVs. There is a bar area with a number of high top tables around it, an upstairs with more tables and a outdoor deck that overlooks the ocean. On the ground level, there is an additional outdoor area with a play area for the kids! Service was quick and attentive. We were asked on a regular basis if we were enjoying the beer and if we needed anything else. The beer selection is a nice mix of pale ales, IPAs, blonde ales, and a milk stout. I do not recall having any that were not good. I bought a flight and enjoyed every one. Overall, this was my favorite of all the craft breweries in Ensenada. Its the one that we came back to again on our last night in town for a pint and to buy some bottles to bring back to the states! I can't say enough good things about this place. A "must stop" for anyone who loves craft beer! Fun Fact for any Minnesotans reading this: The head brewer worked at Surly for 5 years. I noticed the Surly shirt he was wearing and he noticed my Twins hat and we started talking and had a half hour of great conversation. Good guy! You should stop down and say hello if you are ever in Ensenada!
google avatar

Ann G.

Yelp
What a gem! If you love beer and wine, make a weekend out of visiting La Ruta and cap off the day (or start it off) at one of the best cervecerias in Ensenada. Come on in, have some beer, chat with expats from all over the world that have made Mexico their home, and make some great friends. They might even give you a rubber chicken!
google avatar

Justine S.

Yelp
Good beer. Great service. Truly horrendous food! We enjoyed the lagers and IPAs that we ordered. But both the fish & chips and the nachos were ludicrously bad. Skip the food, just drink the beer!
google avatar

Russell N.

Yelp
Great beer and awesome environment on the outskirts of Ensenada. They have multiple hangout areas and an awesome kid area. Our daughter made friends and had fun while we sampled the beer. The food was great as well, all around awesome end to an adventuring day around Ensenada. Will be back.

Yelp
Transpeninsular... Before Baja brews closed we had no idea about this hidden trophy. Transpeninsular has IPAs that I enjoy, the double and triple ipa. You have to try "la curva" please gentle. It's bomb you will like. Food: Papotas: huge wedges with nacho cheese and bacon. Bomb people. Hamburgeusa puerco. Porky. Thick beef patties, toasted bun, onion rings, cheese. Well more than enough to share. You all will not be disappointed. Please come by try it out.

Alondra R.

Yelp
Great place! Everything I have had here is always what I expected and more. My favorites are: La Más Grande y Mejor Hamburguesa, Aguachile de Camarón, Sangria, Mezcal, Beer, Onion rings. I just don't think you can go wrong with anything here. And COVID measures are like nothing I've seen elsewhere. Makes you feel good!
google avatar

Tom V.

Yelp
Update from 3/27/17. Allegro Burger - great burger place in Valle De Guadalupe - has an in-house kitchen in Cerveceria Transpeninsular. Really good burgers to complement the beer. Perfect place to stop in Ensenada
google avatar

Luis T.

Yelp
Great place . The beer is tasty. Great location and friendly atmosphere. I didn't try the food. Grabbed a couple of brews and watched some football.

Enrique L.

Yelp

Yelp
My husband and I found this place on Yelp. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and everyone was so nice and helpful. It is a huge open space with plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs. We enjoyed trying the different beers and they were all amazing. We look forward to visiting again on our next vacation.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. These guys don't care about your experience, the waiter was rude. Don't come to this brewery not worth it.
google avatar

Tina R.

Yelp
Oh damn, This is the jam!!! Wow oh wow. Delicious beers and food! Owner was super chill and the brewmaster knows his shit! Representing Nor-Cal hops with a So. cal vibe. This is a must stop for the tourists and locals alike. The wings were bomb.com and the beer top notch! What a gem and the go to spot when in Ensenada, do not miss the great family and dog friendly atmosphere. Much love, This brewery is coming up and headed towards greatness. We will be back!

Yelp
My friends and I had a wonderful weekend eating our way through Baja. Decided to end our evening here. When we walked in late night, I noticed the place is clean and nicely decorated. Lots of space including an upstairs and a small patio. TV's everywhere. The service was great. Our waitress said she didn't know a lot of English but she did well to assist us and take our orders. The reason for the small amount of stars is the food. The food was terrible. I ordered the onion rings and it had no taste. It was super oily and the batter was just gross. My friends ordered nachos and it came cold. I'm a big fan of the fake orange cheese sauce but this dish was not good at all. Another friend ordered chicken nuggets and fries. She's a foodie and this definitely did not make her list. We ate what we could since we were drinking but man, very sad the food situation was bad. Lots of choices for brews though. I don't normally drink beer anymore but I was a big fan of the beer I ordered.
google avatar

Wendi L.

Yelp
Hands down the best brewery in town! We met Collin the owner who was very knowledgeable and very welcoming. He explained every beer in detail and took his time to answer questions. We also found out that this is the only brewery that has the Resilience beer which supports people who were impacted by the camp fires! My suggestions: Border Buddies (IPA), 3 Virgenes (Amber) and the Resilience (IPA).

Noe C.

Yelp
Great views of the Pacific Ocean . Food is great , the beer is so refreshing and fresh. The only bad thing was our customer service, our waitress took for every to come see us . And it wasn't like is was super busy. Overall, I will definitely come here again.
google avatar

Ximena C.

Yelp
Sorry to say the food is bad and service is bad. Beer is good but considering you have to order food with beer, it's pretty bad.
google avatar

Rick C.

Yelp
Second visit. Wide selection of craft beer and food. The food I would give 3 stars as it has been a hit or miss on flavor and service for the food is slow. I loved the beer and will be back in July.

Yelp
I haven't been to Mexico in years, so I didn't know what to expect returning to Ensenada 15+ years later. It seems Ensenada has been going through some kind of foodie renaissance with an exciting restaurant scene giving life to innovative wines and brews and world class hospitality. Unable to get a reservation at a Laja for dinner, my party decided to check out the new spot, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, to booze it and lose it and MAN were we wrong. Cerveceria Transpeninsular is pioneering. It's a huge, classy, and gorgeous establishment, unlike anything I've experienced during my trip. The torta that I ordered was to die for and the beers were refreshing. Beyond delicious morsels, brews, and a killer floor plan, the staff really took care of us. Dining at CT is a memorable experience, and it's a HAVE-TO next time I'm back (likely sooner than 15 years lol.) If you are in Ensenada, don't miss the opportunity to grab a bite and a beer. Pro tip: Meet Collin, the rockstar restaurateur whose passion for craft brews is invigorating and advances the community's evolving hospitality scene, and then ask him about the taco bus in the back!

carlos m.

Yelp
During this pandemic it's hard to find a good place that's open and healthy. My girlfriend and I enjoyed it. Open windows with a nice ocean breeze. We had a few cocktails, beers and appetizers

Yelp
What a gem ! Great beers very nice facility and friend staff. We got a tour also would love to return and try more of the beers.
google avatar

Yesenia C.

Yelp
if you like a quite atmosphere and want to have a good time with your love ones come around 4-6pm. the waiter brings bread and three types of salsa spicy, mild, sweet. we order chicharron de pulpo, and some type of queso fundido with mushrooms(forgot the name), two beers, pińas coladas for the kids. Alfredo with chicken, pesto pasta with five medium side shrimps, fruit cake for dessert. Since the place was empty in the dinning area the waiter play good music. Once we were getting ready to leave there was more people waking in.
google avatar

Daniel G.

Yelp
Amazing. The food was great, the service was awesome, and the view is priceless. I speak Spanish, but it was no problem for friends who didn't. Would highly recommend the sangria, the milk stout, or the blonde ale!
google avatar

Gus L.

Yelp
If you want a taste of local culture, especially drinks, go find a local craft brewery when you travel. I had the pleasure of visiting the great crew at Cerveceria Transpeninsular this past weekend. Great beers and a great spacious spot right near the ocean. They had a surprisingly well appointed kids play area as well as a tasty looking menu. Next time your in Ensenada make sure you stop in!
google avatar

Brian R.

Yelp
Love love love this place! A wide range of tasty brews combined with a small yet dynamic, tasty and well apportioned menu makes this one of my favorite "cervcerias" on my Ensenada brewery crawl. The staff speaks excellent English and the warm, welcoming feel of the building with glimpses of the ocean from the 2nd floor make it easy to post up for the afternoon. 8 tasters and a full order of wings came in just over $20.
google avatar

Yelp
Came to this bar during my visit to Ensenada through Carnival and it was very awesome! If I ever go back to Ensenada I will for sure hit this place up again! Great beers!
