A little Sondheim please...
Isn't it close? Are there a pair?
Me here at last on the ground, that thing in mid-air
Kill all the drones
Isn't it loud? Don't you approve?
One who keeps flying around and one who won't move
But why all the drones? Kill all the drones...
That's the one minor nuisance in coming to this expanse of greenery on the other side of the Berkeley Marina. I also haven't seen more aggressive squirrels in my life. They don't flinch at all if you kick your foot in mock defense. They laugh at acts of human defiance and stick up their fuzzy tails like phallic middle fingers. But the squirrels don't bother me as much as the drones as they hover within earshot as Jamie w. and I take our circular stroll around the perimeter of this otherwise pleasant ninety-acre park (photo: http://bit.ly/2GD03fY). This space started life as landfill designed to block the waste accumulating in this side of the bay.
Back in 1969, somebody on the Berkeley city council had the bright idea of turning the space into a park, and of course, city politics being city politics, it took more than two decades to make it happen. The result is quite nice, and the parking is not bad when they leave the lot open for visitors. The perimeter trail is about 1-1/4 miles long, but you can traverse the grassy, hilly areas where you're likely to run into off-leash dogs, families congregating around the barbecue pits, and a few stray kites. What I do like about this particular park is that there are benches along the way, providing nice panoramic views of the bay (photo: http://bit.ly/2pjZwrZ).
Don't you love fat squirrels? Your fault, I fear
You thought that they'd want what you eat, sorry my dear
But where are the drones? Kill all the drones
Don't bother they're here
Isn't it nice? Isn't it green?
Losing my timing this late in my career
But where are the drones? Kill all the drones
Well, maybe next year...
