"This space, on a natural peninsula in the San Francisco Bay, was used as a landfill since 1957. But in 1991, the city of Berkeley transformed the area into waterfront recreation, with a wildlife sanctuary and a 17-acre dog park. In 1996, the park was renamed after Cesar Chavez, the farm labor activist and founder of United Farmer Workers of America. There are many birdhouses hosting local species, including large brown pelicans. The park advises against feeding the squirrels in the park, but apparently few visitors follow these rules, as the squirrels are very friendly and approach visitors on the path. Uniquely situated in the Bay, the park also affords beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge, downtown San Francisco, Alcatraz, and Mount Tamalpais to the north. The 1.25-mile path around the park is completely handicap-accessible. Because of its spot on the water, the park is ideal for kite flying. The Berkeley Kite Festival is held on the last weekend of July every year, and the professional kiters come out in mass!" - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Great views of the Bay; paved path or grassy hill paths to walk on. Park benches on waterside path. Free parking. Lots of large kite flyers in the breeze. Relax and watch the sailboats in the Bay.

Cool, breezy park. A great place for walking or running while taking in fantastic views and appreciating our majestic bay. Just breathing in that fresh air passing thru the Golden Gate Bridge is worth the visit.

Google
Great park with panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay and surrounding area. There’s very little trees in the area. Just a large area of grass. While that sounds a bit dull, it’s kinda of rare to find a large grassy area in the middle of the Bay Area. It’s a nice place to set a blanket for a picnic and fly a kite. Walk around the perimeter for a nice easy hike with great views of the bay. It’s a nice spot to watch the sunset. Be sure to have a lite jacket. It can get really windy and cold during the end of the day.

Google
Hidden gem! Lived here all my life and not once went this direction on my rides. It has perfect trails to practice single track on a bike which I happily did. I practiced shifting gears up and downhill. Different terrain to practice on too. Nice little spot for picnics too. Beautiful for a walk, street parking, furfriendly.

Google
Great park with lots of space and paths for both biking and walking. Perfect off leash park for dogs and has many dog water fountains. Amazing views and good parking!

Google
Beautiful view and big park to take a walk !

Google
Great open space park with plenty of opportunity to hang out. Also the perfect place to fly a kite. Parking is also easily accessible and free.

Google
This place slaps for a little sunset walk with a friend right after work to catch sunset!! Pretty ample parking - and feeling good energy seeing everyone else on their hot girl walks too. Recommend taking the frontage road during rush hours if you’re rushing to catch the stellar winter sunsets after work !

Yelp
Such a great park along the Berkeley Marina. Lots of trails for furry friends and their human compatriots. There are plenty of garbage cans and dispensers for poop bags if you happen to run out (please remember to pick up after your dogs!). There is even a water station in the middle of the park and a hose if you need to rinse off your dog. Depending on the weather there can be quite a bit of mud or sand. Parking is along the street and generally easy to find. If you find yourself at the top of the hill in the middle of the park you have the best view of Berkeley, SF, and the golden gate. Even without a fur baby it's a nice park to walk/run around and take in the views.

Yelp
Beautiful and well maintained. So many dogs but we had nothing but a good time my dog and I. There were 2 drinking stations which was really nice. So many beautiful views including the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge. One thing to be aware of there are signs stating which areas are off leash which dogs must be on a leash.

Yelp
Great park for a walk. Easy parking on a Tuesday at sunset. No sure how parking is during the weekend. I am just visiting from SoCal.

Yelp
Our group selected our walk for Caesar Chavez Park. I was not familiar with this park and was looking forward to our walk. This Park is on the north side of the marina and you access it from Marina Blvd to Spinnaker Way where there are plenty of parking on the street as well as two lots. The park is 90 acres with a hill in the middle, which was a former landfill. The trails circles the park and up into the hill. We started our walk from the end of Spinnaker Way and the first thing you notice is the amazing unobstructed panoramic view from The Port of Oakland to The Bay Bridge to Yerba Buena/Treasure Island, San Francisco to The Golden Gate Bridge to Angel Island to Marin County to Richmond/San Rafael Bridge to Richmond to the East Bay Shoreline. We walked the perimeter of the Park and took a trail along the East Bay Shoreline to Golden Gate Fields and back for a great 5 mile walk. There were two set of portable restrooms along Spinnaker Way of the Park. This was a nice park, which exceeded by expectation. Even you don't plan on doing a walk, just coming here to admire the amazing views is worth it.

Yelp
THE best place to fly a kite, period. Today, a small crowd was gathered to watch jet fighters flying around the bay, as part of fleet week. I like to fly my kites high enough to be a hazard to aerial navigation, but this was not an issue today. All anyone got to see was exhaust pollution settling over the bay - no sign of any Surrender Dorothy message. There's a ridge of sorts set back a couple hundred yards from the waterfront, where there's usually reliable wind. Today, most kite flyers needed to go down closer to the water. If you need a kite, please visit the Highline Kites truck. His story is that he started selling these things back in the mid-80s, and never got back to whatever career he thought he would have. He'll recommend the right kite for you, based on complexity, and your experience.

Chris L.

Yelp
A pleasant surprise! I admit it, I expected a dumpy park. Boy was I wrong! Instead of small dumpy park, I was treated to a state-of-the-art, modern, clean park. There are beautiful views from many points in the park. The parking is easy, with portable restrooms right next to the parking area. They also have picnic tables with rubbish bins. This is a large, hilly park. The hill is in the middle. Expect lots of friendly dogs. Don't miss the memorial sculptures dedicated to Cesar Chavez. So overall, this was a wonderful visit. I'm happy to admit I was completely wrong about this park.

Yelp
Just discovered this place recently. Although I was told about it a couple years back I finally took my dogs and Loved it. The space is open and provides the ability to see the dogs that are coming .

Phil A.

Yelp
It's amazing to me how consistently windy this place always is, it's no wonder this is home to the Berkeley Kite Festival every year cause it's the perfect place for it. Originally named North Waterfront Park, it was changed in 1996 to honor the labor leader and civil rights activist, Cesar Chavez. I've done plenty of running as well as ran races around the paved path that encompasses the outer edges of this park, so I know it well. This place is also where people pack in every 4th Of July for the festivities and in the evening, the fireworks show!!

Mónica M. O.

Yelp
What a hidden gem nestled behind that 80 Berkeley/Emeryville traffic. It's a large park, grassy (thanks rain), number of trails some hilly others at the waterfront. Great for dogs, a stroll, hike or run. It's always windy though so you know the rule - be jacket ready.

Kashyap J.

Yelp
It's a green and blue gem in the middle of east bay... we missed our beautiful foster city lagoons and the views. But this park is definitely tops that with views of gg, bb, bay, lush green open park with blue bright sky and lot of open area for your choice of weekend activity. We had fun few hours flying our newly bought kite and walking the periphery. Already planning a picnic soon!

Matthew H.

Yelp
Beautiful park to visit especially when its sunny and clear! Tip bring jacket its windy ! This park was really nice to visit especially when the grassy field is green. Lots of both paved and unpaved trails to walk on. The backside of park is a nice place for dogs to play as its a dog park and to walk around. The whole loop from start to finish takes about 15 mins depending on walking or running speed, but walking is nice to be able to see the view! Parking lots of it both in the entrance of the park or on the side roadways where you can park anytime. Great park to visit and soak up the sun!

Angelica H.

Yelp
This is a beautiful park with lots of grass and an amazing view of the Bay period we came here in the evening and saw beautiful sunset. There are lots of places to walk your dog also which is a huge Plus for us.

Chloe B.

Yelp
I've been going to this park for a decade plus. The entrance was not well paved like it's becoming now. It had the long pier alive and well back when i first started going. Now it's the same classic walking trails with San Francisco city views and a statue. Don't forget all the ground squirrels and trash pandas. Picnic table galore and great views. Recommend.

Aunnie T.

Yelp
Beautiful park to ride your bike, take a walk, fly a kite, or have a picnic. On our walk we saw a place where you can rent kites! So don't worry if you forgot your kite or if you don't have your own. Soak up the scenery and enjoy the fresh air. Lots of space to promote social distancing. We're staying at the double tree Hilton which is only footsteps away. What a treat to be near a park!

Craig G.

Yelp
Great path , good hills great vistas! Winston Loves walking here as unlike Point Isabel, human rule this park. Not that he's antisocial, just a lot of different things to smell and discover along a two mile path. Very blustery as it's directly across from the golden gate where the winds, fog and salt air swoosh in from the ocean. Kids, kites, kayaks, and picnics sail boats rule this area. The hill protects a nice picnic area on eastern center part of peninsula. This often taken over by folks flying radio operated planes and gliders. The north point of the island dogs can run loose off leash. And actually it's not as windy there either. And your view is of Berkeley and Albany hills. Definitely a three bridge view on the west side. Parking can be a challenge, especially during organized events like the annual kite festival. We get here before noon on weekends and parking Car-ma in full effect.

Yelp
Cesar Chavez Park is great for taking your dog, kite flying, or just walking or jogging around it, and seeing the sunset over the bay. Quality time for dogs: plenty of space to run around in the fields and also walk on the paved trail the circles around the park, plus a few dirt trails. My dog loves seeing the ground squirrels that pop up from the rocks along the bay. Kite flying: Berkeley Kite Festival is held here once per year, but it's also great pretty much any day for flying a kite, since it's consistently windy right by the bay. Walking and jogging: it's an easy walk or jog on the paved path and slightly hilly dirt paths. Sight seeing: if it's cloudy, a colorful sunset looks amazing over the bay with a view directly of the Golden Gate Bridge. There are also other nearby areas on the drive in at the marina where you can see nice views of the boats and sunset behind them. Nice photography opportunities. Drive there: Most days I've gone, it's easy to find parking, but some days, if you want to drive all the way into the court (where the road comes to an end at the bay), you should count on finding parking only along the road. I can't stand how rocky the road is from University Ave toward the marina and the park. It's so unpleasant for me driving on roads that aren't well-maintained. I wish the city would repave it. This is the only reason I give it 4/5 instead of 5/5 stars.

Yelp
Great park with views of San Francisco! Came here on Sunday morning and had no trouble finding street parking. Pros: -great views of San Francisco -lots of benches along the way -different paths to choose from -there are some shady areas on the hill -on leash and off leash sections for dogs Cons: -one person was flying drones here. Just a pet peeve of mine when you're out here to enjoy nature.

Yelp
I come here for the off-leash area for my dog, but there's truly all walks of life enjoying the fresh sea breeze and often stunning sunsets. Although it seems compact and I had initially written it off as a boring, squarish area, I have since realized that there's beauty on every side or in little pockets with stunning views. No matter what time of day I come, whether in the morning for a quiet run or social afternoon/early evening for my dog to play, it's pleasant - and there's always parking. Everyone is courteous about not just covid, but wildlife preservation. It's sadly so rare to find even parks or stretches of shoreline that are free of litter. I don't even see anyone breaking the rule against feeding wildlife. Everyone cleans up after their dog, even if it's the middle of the field where someone is unlikely to walk. It helps that dog bag and trash bins are plentiful - and the nerd in me LOVES that the bags are compostable. The only drawbacks I have had with coming here aren't to do with the park itself, so it remains five stars. Occasionally there will be people who gripe about my dog coming up to theirs in the off-leash area - I'm talking just the moment she turns to look at their dog and takes one step forward, not even yet near their dog. I would never let her off leash if she was aggressive, and what are you doing in an off-leash dog park if you're going to be a grouch about dogs who surprise surprise: are off leash and trying to play with your dog? The other thing is some mornings there's a pack of bold turkeys that run down the road. I've seen one follow alongside a car either hunting or trying to mate with the car!

Ed U.

Yelp
A little Sondheim please... Isn't it close? Are there a pair? Me here at last on the ground, that thing in mid-air Kill all the drones Isn't it loud? Don't you approve? One who keeps flying around and one who won't move But why all the drones? Kill all the drones... That's the one minor nuisance in coming to this expanse of greenery on the other side of the Berkeley Marina. I also haven't seen more aggressive squirrels in my life. They don't flinch at all if you kick your foot in mock defense. They laugh at acts of human defiance and stick up their fuzzy tails like phallic middle fingers. But the squirrels don't bother me as much as the drones as they hover within earshot as Jamie w. and I take our circular stroll around the perimeter of this otherwise pleasant ninety-acre park (photo: http://bit.ly/2GD03fY). This space started life as landfill designed to block the waste accumulating in this side of the bay. Back in 1969, somebody on the Berkeley city council had the bright idea of turning the space into a park, and of course, city politics being city politics, it took more than two decades to make it happen. The result is quite nice, and the parking is not bad when they leave the lot open for visitors. The perimeter trail is about 1-1/4 miles long, but you can traverse the grassy, hilly areas where you're likely to run into off-leash dogs, families congregating around the barbecue pits, and a few stray kites. What I do like about this particular park is that there are benches along the way, providing nice panoramic views of the bay (photo: http://bit.ly/2pjZwrZ). Don't you love fat squirrels? Your fault, I fear You thought that they'd want what you eat, sorry my dear But where are the drones? Kill all the drones Don't bother they're here Isn't it nice? Isn't it green? Losing my timing this late in my career But where are the drones? Kill all the drones Well, maybe next year...

Melissa B.

Yelp
Very nice trail. Lots of dogs out. One area is an open space for dogs to run off leash. Paved and dirt trails.

Liz B.

Yelp
Amazing views! Great park to walk, jog, run by the water. Keep up the pace and you'll discover some cool paths. One leads to a memorial of Chavez and a sundial and inspirational quotes and photos. Wander a bit further and you'll find a great view of the city, some sailboats and the Bay and Golden Gate Bridge. This park is perfect for gathering your thoughts, enjoying the heck out of nature, and getting in shape. Oh, and came across a snake. Very docile and mostly sunbathing but I wasn't about to take a pic and have her snap up and bite me. I may be a Slytherin, but I don't speak parseltongue.

Sarah N.

Yelp
Finally made it out to this park and I wish I'd made it sooner! Parking was easy, beautiful views of Berkeley and SF, and a variety of things to do. Grills and picnic tables on sight, and a great space to bring your dog(s) off-leash!

Chloe H.

Yelp
I absolutely love this park. It's a new go to place for picnics, strolls, or to just enjoy the view! If you choose the perfect day to go to this park, you will not be disappointed. This park has it all- nicely cemented trail for people to walk on, a hill to get the perfect view of San Francisco and a workout, and a vast grass area for people to enjoy the sun. I had a picnic with blankets and chairs, and I loved the privacy we were able to have while connecting with people at the park. It was a great experience! Also, I saw lots of people flying kites, so if that's your thing this is a great park to do so!

Kyshia M.

Yelp
Beautiful views of San Francisco (on a non foggy day), amazing trails, and dog friendly. I came here and was able to catch the sun set. Getting here can be a challenge since its the one lane street by the Double Tree. You can easily end up at the Marina if you don't pay attention to your turn. Overall I'm disappointed with myself for not coming here sooner. Luckily the day I came there was little to no wind so I was very appreciative of the fact that I didn't need a sweater.

Janine D.

Yelp
It's an enchanted little park - with fields for playing families and kite flying, lots of paths for walking , and wonderful views. An added bonus, fans of the park have placed metal-plate inscriptions on many of the benches. See if you can find the bench with the famous quote "Life is an adventure - or it is nothing!"

Ali L.

Yelp
Good view, dogs are allowed. There are a lot of weird, specific rules, which are a good laugh if you get a chance to read the sign. Saw some groundhogs. Plenty of parking when we were there.

Lisa B.

Yelp
Reminds me a bit of Shoreline park in Mt. View, but with a better view and no weird smell. Traffic was backed up going into the city, so we decided to wait it out and let the kids run a bit. Come here: - if you want to run or jog - want a lovely view of the city - like photography - for free parking! - want to make out on the grass - to fly a kite - to bird watch - to hike -- paved trails and single track Fun family day and nice detour... although the traffic has not gotten better. Another Sat night in the city.... off to eat in Berkley instead ;).

Winnie Y.

Yelp
This is THE place for kite flying. With the strong continuous winds, your kite will lift off effortlessly and give you a false sense of expertise in the kite-flying profession. This park is also dog friendly and generally geese-free, so it's a decent place to give your neck a break from looking upwards at your kite and lay a picnic blanket down to enjoy the stunning views San Francisco at the other side of the water. I have not yet ventured out past the kite area, but so far I am impressed. There are a few porta-potties for your urgent needs so at least you have some sense of security when it comes to your toileting needs. Parking seemed semi-decent, but I'm sure you'll find a spot as long as you're willing to walk further. I didn't have any trouble finding closeby parking on a Saturday afternoon.

F M.

Yelp
This is a great place for a nice easy walk with stunning views of the bay, But, There are a lot of irresponsible dog owners who let them run off leash around the outer path when there are signs stating that dogs must be on leash in those areas. Today was the second time a dog has run at me and aggressively snapped at my leg but did not bite. This one is lucky, today! The owner made no effort to call or control the dog and When I talked to her about it she just blew me off like I was making a deal over nothing, but I have seen the damage dogs can do, not cool! Step up Berkeley!

Michelle F.

Yelp
Somewhat hidden gem in Emeryville/ Berkeley Marina Area. Nice paths, bbq areas, scenic views of both Emeryville, San Francisco, and Richmond area. They have certain areas within the park that have off leash for dogs. I usually see people here flying, kites, drones, setting up for picnics/ bbqs, hiking, running, etc etc.

Irene G.

Yelp
Some of our friends invited us to come down and fly kites with them here. It was a beautiful day to do it. Though I seem to always feel everything needs food and beer. I said, "Boy what would make this day even better would be to have one of those half tents with a picnic blanket, beach chairs, some food, and beer." It's a wide space with dogs, flying kites, drones. Next time we'll put my ideas to fruition.

David F.

Yelp
Cesar Chavez Park, located at the western end of Berkeley near the marina, is not your typical city park. Located on the edge of San Francisco Bay, a walk around the park is a water lover's dream with wonderful views of distant San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. I particularly enjoyed the Cesar Chavez Loop, which starts near the entrance and circumnavigates the park, showing off the views. But trails lace throughout the hilly midsection allow you to invent your own loop. . Be advised the wind can be bracing here during your walk, even in the middle of summer. Another plus in my mind: the park itself is mostly natural vegetation, a walk on a recent early August day had the hills covered with blooming yellow fennel. Bring your camera if you are so inclined. Parking, as in much of Berkeley, can be a challenge, and other reviewers have noted break-ins while parked nearby. Parking is available along Spinnaker Way and Marina Blvd, in addition to the small lots. You can no longer use the parking lot at the Doubletree Hotel without paying $16. City parks don't get much better than this.

Alexandra B.

Yelp
My review focuses on a visit in June during COVID 19. The park was open and I arrived at around 9.30 AM. There was plenty of parking. There were many signs warning of leaving valuables in your car, so make sure to put things away or leave them at home. There was a marine layer and it was very windy. The temperature was in the low 60s, so make sure to dress in layers and bring a beanie hat just in case you tend to get cold in your ears. I recently moved to the East Bay from San Diego, so these low temperatures surprised me. Especially that morning because at my home about 30 minutes inland in the Bay Area the sun was shining and we had a temperature in the 80s already by 8.30 am. I was very glad I had decided on grabbing a hoodie at the last minute and putting that in the car. So be prepared and bring something warm to wear. The park is adjacent to the Berkeley Marina and the bay, you can walk on a trail along the water that gives you a view of San Francisco. Dogs are also allowed on leash. Also BRING and WEAR your mask. There are many signs throughout the park reminding people to wear masks. I also saw most people following this rule, even while jogging. I certainly appreciated this and It was a stark difference between another park I went to the previous weekend in Livermore called Sycamore Grove where I noticed just the opposite and most people were not wearing masks in spite of signs. This made me aware about how the Bay Area has so many differences between their communities and so many micro climates. I also saw a person flying a kite. I also saw people fishing too.

Jonathan G.

Yelp
Cesar Chavez park has more going for it than against it. As a result, it's a pretty good time visiting Cesar Chavez Park. There is lots and lots of grass to sprawl out on, throw a blanket and take a nap or have a cozy meal. So much space that even when parking seems non-available/full, there isn't an easy overabundance of people to overwhelm. Throw a ball around, fly a kite, or just enjoy the scenery and people-watch. Visibility is good all around and there should usually be enough visitors that one can feel at least a measure of safety. Things would improve with more outhouses (I only saw one) for when nature calls, and more parking spots. Give Cesar Chavez Park a visit and have a good time.

Leslie Q.

Yelp
SO and I come here when we want to fly our kites cause Cesar Chavez Park = windy af. Located right next to the marina in Berkeley, Cesar Chavez Park offers stunning views of the water/skyline and a decent trail for dog-walking. Some notes: 1. Every year around end of July, the Berkeley kite festival is held at this park. Bring chairs, some sammiches, and enjoy the kites! 2. Again, it's windy, so bring a jacket! 3. Not only is it windy, but the sun still shines. Protect yourself - wear a hat and sunscreen! 4. Lots of parking available across/along the street 5. Lots of dogs - most of them off-leash! If you ain't a doggy-lover, tough luck. But good for me cause I love them doggos. 6. The park trail isn't difficult with mild hills... so come get your steps in! Will definitely be back!

Eric G.

Yelp
Love this place. Great for kite flying, walking, or just plain enjoying the view. You can see the golden gate, Bay, San Rafael and, on a really clear day, the Carquinez. Fly a glider, walk the dog, have a picnic, take a stroll. You just can't go wrong.

Andrea N.

Yelp
Fun park to take the doggos for a walk. I've only gone weekdays to avoid crowds and never an issue with parking. Most people were socially distancing and had masks. There's an off leash area in the middle of the park for your lil one to exercise!

Vanessa B.

Yelp
What a great area to walk, run, bike, sit, picnic- anything! All of the area is dog friendly and extra dog friendly in the middle where its off leash! Lots and lots of parking always makes visiting places like this easier and is so appreciated! Walked the whole 1.5 mile loop and sat at one of the many benches and stared across the water to SF! Beautiful views. I'll definitely bring the pup here so we can play!

Michael C.

Yelp
A beautiful park near the marina. Many people were out during the day after Thanksgiving with their families, flying kites, walking their dogs, jogging or walking, or just sitting on a bench admiring the view and sunny day. My family walked on the path along the shoreline at a leisurely pace, enjoying the views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge from our vantage point. We encountered several friendly people along the way who either smiled warmly or gave a friendly "hello." Besides the serenity of the environment, I think what made me smile was all the families enjoying the park with their dogs, throwing a frisbee, or laughing amongst themselves. It certainly wasn't a surprise to find the park full of people as it was a beautiful day to take advantage of outdoor activities. BOTTOM LINE: This park is great for walking/jogging, spending time with family, walking your dog, or perhaps enjoying a solitary moment.

Stephanie Y.

Yelp
You so damn windy. But, those views! Those views! Swoon and photo worthy! Beautiful park on the Bay in Berkeley filled with dogs and winding trails. Nothing too hilly, more like a nice walk, but dang, it gets real windy! Bring a long sleeve shirt or at least a windbreaker! Plenty of parking, I hear that an epic kite festival takes place here and I see why and lots of fresh air in this beautiful park makes this a great way to spend a morning. Then head to 4th Street stat for some post walk eats!

Mita V.

Yelp
Such a great park on the Bay here in Berkeley. Kite festivals are held here although I've never attended I'm sure they look amazing. Lots of benches to randomly stop for a break or just enjoy the views. At one point of the trail you are able to see 3 beautiful Bay Area bridges at the same time. Peaceful and friendly patrons for the most part. Still, it's never safe to trail alone so be aware of your surroundings :) Dogs are allowed in certain areas as long as they stay on the leash because there's wildlife that should not be disturbed. SOME people like to ignore that rule and I think it disrupts not only the wildlife but the kids too. Take your dogs to the dog park instead of chasing after it while it's trying to catch a giant squirrel. Leave the "bunny"-squirrels alone!

Andrew S.

Yelp
Excellent park for dogs! The area is very vast and is surrounded by the Berkeley Marina! You can see amazing views of SF, Golden Gate Bridge and the Oakland Bay Bridge, all in ONE VIEW! The off leash area is very large and awesome! There are plenty of trash cans and a central area to get drinking water for the dogs. My dog loves running around all day in the large open space and is perfect for ball lovers as you can throw the ball very far due to the large open space! They also hold the annual Berkeley Kite Festival at this park, which is July 29-30 this year! See you there!

Rose L.

Yelp
Beautiful ocean-side park on the outskirts of Berkeley, far enough from Berkeley that you get away from the crowded city feeling but with incredible views of San Fransisco. There's a small parking lot but feel free to park on the sides of the road leading up to the loop. You'll find everything from walking paths (including the 1.25 mile Dorothy Stegmann trail around the park's perimeter which is fully wheelchair accessible), portable toilets and picnic tables with BBQ's. But, the best park of Cesar Chavez Park is the cool, fresh ocean air, walking paths parallel to the ocean and incredible views of San Francisco Bay to the west and the Berkeley hills to the east. You can enjoy the sunshine from a bench along the trail or watch the wildlife that surrounds you. If you're looking for an escape from the city and great views, I highly recommend stopping by Cesar Chavez Park.

Yelp
A delightful mix of paved trails, rolling grassy hills, and spectacular views, this park makes a wonderful venue for a romantic sunset stroll or a kite flying excursion. I was staying nearby on a business trip and was delightfully surprised by how open, yet intimate this space felt. The paths were filled with joggers, dog walkers, or couples taking in the view but the idyllic setting never made it feel cramped or crowded. If there were a downside, it is a bit on the small side. I was able to explore nearly the whole park in about 90 minutes. Overall, worth going out of your way for on a clear day.

Yelp
Such a gem, I can't believe I haven't found this before. I used to live near Golden Gate park before and although they are two very different landscapes, the feeling of being close to nature and dogs is the same. Coming here with your dog to enjoy the trails and off-leash areas is nurturing for your soul. And such friendly, dog loving people too! The views of the city are amazing, you can see the golden gate, bay bridge and the other one to Marin all at once. Getting here for the first time wasn't difficult. We followed google directions and followed the people with dogs to find the off leash area of the park. So much more to explore though, it's so nice that this much land has been set aside for people to enjoy nature.

Yelp
Drones really ruin this otherwise amazing space. I've take my dog here a couple times and each experience we've encountered some obnoxious person flying their drone super low (which makes it louder for us and even more distracting for dogs). Today was especially annoying because the drone operator was blasting loud music. Not the worst thing in the world, but just inconsiderate enough to drive out people who've come to come to what used to be a quieter, pleasant recreation area.

Yelp
A lovely park near the Berkeley Marina. Lots of people with dogs (I felt a little bit left out). The trails spider out and go all up and around the hills. There are some great views of the GGB, Marin and the City. Beware of the squirrels-they ran up alongside me, pacing me as I walked. Some passed me on the right, like bad drivers, and pulled in front of me and stopped. One squirrel ran between my legs as I walked! They're not subtle with the begging for food-I didn't feed them people food since it's bad for them (to wit some squirrels looked a bit chubby). I had a lovely walk, got in my 10,000 steps by pretty much walking all of the trails, and got some great pictures! Parking is along the road, there are lots of signs warning not to leave valuables in your car.

Yelp
We LOVE this park. Best place on the weekends to fly the kite, bring the fam for a lil' picnic and chill, and let the doggies run. Bring a warm sweater/blanket if you plan to stay for awhile, it's gets SUPER windy... don't forget the chapstick too. =p
