We were very curious about Chả Cá Lã Vọng, and this restaurant did not disappoint! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and even took the time to show us how to properly enjoy the dish, making the experience even more special.
A good Chả Cá is all about the balance of flavors and textures. The fish was marinated perfectly, infused with turmeric and spices, then cooked in a sizzling pan with fragrant dill and green onions. The result? Tender, flavorful fish with a slight crispiness on the edges, best enjoyed with vermicelli noodles, roasted peanuts, fresh herbs, and a squeeze of lime.
We ordered the fish set and, out of curiosity, tried the fish gut set—which turned out to be a delightful surprise! I never expected fish gut to be this tasty, but it had a unique chewiness and rich flavor that made it really enjoyable.
To top it off, they even gave us free fish soup and two coconut puddings for dessert, which was such a nice touch!
If you’re a tourist looking to try Hanoi’s signature dish, this is definitely the place to go. A fantastic experience all around—highly recommended!
