"Local chain Cha! Cha! Cha! offers casual Mexican dining, from burritos to enchiladas, with quick counter service in its colorful restaurants. Also available is a line of fruity margaritas, including juicy, well-balanced hibiscus and rich tamarind. The chain also serves two margaritas made with a Herradura Reposado tequila made specifically for Cha! Cha! Cha!, available with grapefruit or orange." - Alex Frane

We went for lunch at the Cha Cha Cha, we really enjoyed the overall atmosphere, the staff were very friendly and the service was quick. We ordered a variety often their street tacos which had generous protein as were served on corn tortillas, the meats were cooked and seasoned to perfection, their sauces were great and prices were reasonable to the area. Their outdoor seating was covered and had heating which is great for the colder months as well. We enjoyed the experience overall.

Google
They serve REAL authentic Mexican food. Every ingredient is fresh and organic. The owners are warm and welcoming. The cooks make every dish DELICIOUS. I highly recommend eating here if you want Mexican food, for a quick bite or to eat as a family.

Google
They did it: they made the perfect vegan burrito! 🌯 🌱🤤 Tortilla was so soft and perfectly crisped, guacamole plentiful, and just the right size for a satisfying meal. Plus, they offer two mini squeeze bottles of green and red hot sauce for those dining in. Tacos were tasty too 😋 I will be back!

Google
Delicious!!!! I'm really fond of the Rajas Poblanos tacos and outdoor seating area. The Monday margarita deal is fantastic, I enjoy the guava. The man that's always behind the counter on Monday's during lunch is so nice, super speedy and always helpful. We'll be back!!!

Google
staff are super friendly, i loved my vegan mole poblano enchiladas, and the to-go prickly pear margarita was great too! unfortunately, i ordered the enchiladas off the happy hour menu and was charged full price. i also ordered guacamole and was charged for it, but i didn’t get any guacamole. i also got two sides of rice instead of rice and beans like they said on the menu. i think it was an honest mistake on their part, but it left a sour taste in my mouth about the restaurant.

Being my first time here, I loved the ambience, the decor, the overall appearance of the establishment. The staff were also attentive and took care of all my needs. I wanted to try a lot from the menu and I definitely will.

Google
Everything was delicious. Definitely get the Quesa Birria and sabor the broth. We got a chicken enchilada as a side. The house salsa and pico are also chefs kiss.

Google
Mexican cantina style 💞 The nachos and margaritas are really good, but the service isn't it. I was with my friends in Portland, hanging out and we want to take a little rest, so, this local was the first in our way, so, we ask for guacamole and two margaritas jar: tamarindo and strawberry. I didn't feel the flavor, but they were prepared very good and we started to ask more stuff 🐷. Our guacamole took a lot of time. I had to ask again. And it was very normal. But, when I asked nachos OMG, nachos were pretty good 👌

Yelp
Their arroz con pollo was the best we have had. We like that the food is humane. It is on delivery!

Yelp
Stumbled into this place to have a drink while waiting to meet someone. What a lucky find! The service was so warm and welcoming. Very cute space, especially the patio. I ordered the Suave, and the white peach blends surprising well with the double barrel reposado. I agreed to an offer of chips and salsa. The salsa is perfect! Smokey and peppery, with a building heat. I wish I brought more of an appetite but I encourage anyone walking by this place to stop in!

Berenice G.

Yelp
Cute restaurant, lively music and tvs. Friendly staff. Food was okay...i ordered the steak nachos and had more beans and cheese than actual steak. The burrito was also bean filled and barely any chicken.

Camryn T.

Yelp
Best Quesa Birrira tacos hands down! Keeps me coming back for more and the service is amazing! Would recommend to everyone, will be bringing friends when they come and visit here for some good authentic mexican!

Eric N.

Yelp
I got at least 1/4 cup of grease or oil leaking out of the burrito today. I ordered the pork , but still! First & last time ever.

Gisela S.

Yelp
Delicious food, great mix drink and even better service. Fast and fresh. Cleanliness is on point. Awesome music too..

Kim G.

Yelp
The best chimichangas anywhere! Filled with carne asada, rice and black beans they are topped with guacamol, shredded crisp lettuce and pics de Gallo. I don't eat them often, but when I have a craving this is where I get my fix! They are a local Portland chain and have locations all over the city, in each of the "quadrants." The NE location was walking distance from my previous home and I'd walk over on warm summer evenings and enjoy a chimichanga and margarita outside on the picnic tables. While they may be a chain, the food is freshly made and everything is legit. They make the food fast but this isn't a watered down fast food version of American food. For breakfast I highly recommend the chilaquiles, so satisfying! The tortilla chips and scramble eggs in a chile verde sauce are delicious! This is a great place for families since there are enough options that everyone, even picky children can find something they like. Rice and beans or quesadillas always work. For adults there are healthier versions of burritos like fresh made bowls and salads in addition to the tacos, chimichangas, burritos and other norms. Located right on vibrant SE Hawthorne in an equally vibrant paints house, Cha Cha Cha is always a safe bet for legit Mexican food served fresh and hot.

Yelp
The food was so tasty I was really surprised. The staff were also very friendly and hospitable. Will probably go back in the near future.

Jerry F.

Yelp
Just bland "flautas" - very little flavor. Boxed to go to make edible at home. Margarita tasted like it had no Tequila in it.

Sandie E.

Yelp
The food was so authentic and absolutely amazing! The service was great and they were very polite. They had a great variety of things to eat and their drinks were yummy too!

Anne S.

Yelp
New Owners! The food, the service, and the ambiance - all amazing! Come here ASAP and order anything - it's all delicious! You can taste the love in the food! And the margaritas are wonderful, too! Run, don't walk!

Gabrielle B.

Yelp
Oh my god the food here is absolutely amazing and the best burritos I have had in Portland hands down. I can't explain what it is, but there was something different and spectacular about the burrito I had! It was beans, rice and veggies but the flavor was just unreal! I love how huge it was too and the hot sauces were spicy. The staff was super nice and as I was leaving I saw that they also have horchata! I can't wait to try that next. Also happy hour from 3-6!!

Francie V.

Yelp
While we didn't get food, the Mojito and the Cadillac were some of the best drinks we've had in a while. I'm picky about margaritas (as a texan) and it was the perfect amount of strong and tasty. The mojito was "the best mojito I've ever had"- my friend. Service 10/10. Vibe is laid back and comfortable

Christopher H.

Yelp
This place is authentic with a great menu! The food was delicious and the service was friendly and fantastic!

Ashley P.

Yelp
I always get the Camarones de Mojo tacos. Great service, friendly staff, amazing food!Shrimp Taco

Keren M.

Yelp
The prices are expensive now & what I got with that price wasn't worth it at all, I got chorizo tacos to be honest the meat had to much nerves I didn't enjoy my tacos plus the girl that was cashier had some attitude while I was ordering my order. I've come here before and this is second time cashier has been this way ... they need to work more about their staffs personality's.

Astrid B.

Yelp
So tasty!! I got the carnitas nachos and they didn't disappoint. Though it's not an inexpensive restaurant, it's worth the price. It's pretty much perfect. We sat outside and it's in a great spot in Hawthorne so you can do things around too. The service was ok, but the food really made my day. Would suggest

Jessie T.

Yelp
By far, the most accommodating and nice people working at a food establishment that I've been to in a very long time. From the woman who took our order to the man who brought us out salsa to the way they brought us out silverware and hot sauces and our food, I was impressed. Excellent customer service. Very friendly. The food was delicious and full of flavor. I would definitely get the chicken flautas and then ask for that red hot sauce. Super yummy!! My only suggestion to make this a place that I would frequent regularly, would be to change out the light fixtures. They are way too bright. It's worse then office lighting and actually gave me a little bit of a headache. As you can see from my picture, they are really creative in the idea. They just need to take down the bulb wattage a little bit. It is so blinding. I went with a friend and we both had a real difficult time with the lighting, but I don't think I would ever take a date here because it's just so bright and painful. You kind of squint at the person across from you and try to shield yourself from the lighting. Like I said, a cool light fixture idea, but needs to take down the wattage. Come for the good customer service and delicious food. Don't stay long for the light headache. Glad this is in my neighborhood!

Chauncey M.

Yelp
Great environment and staff. Food was delicious and flavorful. It came loaded with Pico, guacamole, lots of beans and cheese and prawns

Angelia M.

Yelp
No complementary chips and salsa, like all the other Mexican restaurants. Food mediocre. When we did pay for the chips and salsa, the basket was half full, had to ask for more. Prices too high for the meal we had.

Scarlet P.

Yelp
this place is so good! i got the vegetarian chili relleno burrito I've gotten it normal and also as a chimichanga. I've also gotten the nachos and all was amazing. they have yummy drinks as well. I'd say price is 8/10 (I've seen better but they made sense and was worth it) food is 9.5/10, service was a 10/10, vibe was 9/10 very nice but on the smaller side

Jenni C.

Yelp
How do you mess up bean and cheese nachos? Tasted rotten and the guacamole was a greyish-green color. The salsas were groooossss

Noha E.

Yelp
This place is amazing! I love it! The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the chilaquiles with green sauce and scrambled eggs and it taste authentic. Not like some "Mexican" restaurants that taste like they reheated in the microwave lol. 10/10

Diana H.

Yelp
Excellent fast order at counter with outdoor seating socially distanced. Daughter and I shared the Nachos with carnitas and black beans which was more than enough for us both. The carnitas were tender and full of flavor! Can't say how many others I've had that were bland but not at Cha Cha Cha! The ratio of meat to cheese to beans to chips was perfect! The salsas (one better than the other) were the perfect toppers. Hand sanitizer and super friendly service! Definitely recommend.

Bailey P.

Yelp
mediocre at best, insanely overpriced and not very flavorful at all. 25$ for a single small margarita and chips and salsa and under seasoned guac

Nathan H.

Yelp
Dinner before my late (redeye) overnight flight back to DFW, Springield MO, & home before noon tomorrow. I saw this place and had to try it. Very good grilled chicken nachos. I'll give them

Amy E.

Yelp
Not the best. We walked in to a very friendly hello but that's it. After that though, we were left trying to figure out if it was Brunch or lunch and I felt like we had to ask like 5 menu logistics questions to figure it all out. (ha ha) Service was fast, food was mediocre. This Mexican food has a different flavor than most Mexican food Ive had and I feel they loaded up both of our entrees with tons of mushy grilled mild peppers... I mean tons. Had to ask for chips and salsa twice before the finally arrived. My chicken was dry as well. This isn't a place I'd go back to.

Aleah G.

Yelp
A hip vibe with great ambience. The place has outdoor seating with a covered area that is really nice on a good day. Cute lights are hung up outside and would be good on a date. I got the veggie tacos and they were really good. Comes with corn, pico de galo, nopales, peppers, onion, cilantro, etc. They're on corn tortillas that don't immediately break, which is always great sign that it's a good quality place.

Lex J.

Yelp
Maybe it was just b/c we got there so late but our meat was unfortunately pretty dry in both our nachos and our two tacos. Aside from that this place is good stuff. I LOVE their horchata!!!! Not TOO sweet but just sweet enough. Aside from the meat being in the dry side the nachos were solid packed with toppings. The guacamole was very very good. We didn't really care for the corn tortillas the tacos were made with either. The best part about this eatery is their organic farm to plate program. Everything used is local grown and organic so the pricing is a little more for your meal BUT not by too much and you truly do get out of your body what you put in it so to pay a few cents more per item for quality is beyond acceptable in our book. The service here was really good as well. The girl who took our order was very friendly, smiled and even though we got there like 15 min before they closed (realized after the fact) she was still super nice and didn't make us feel like we were a burden coming in so late. There is outdoor seating which is nice b/c there's a decent amount of it. They have a reverse happy hour too which we always love seeing but their hh beer pricing was nothing to write home about but they did provide decent pricing on hh food options.

Tifanny C.

Yelp
This little restaurant was very delicious, cute, and cozy. The food was flavorful and filling. I ordered a vegetable burrito with no meat which was delicious. (Not pictured) The nachos were SUPER yummy. The tortilla chips were so warm and full of flavor. Definitely recommend. From great service to amazing food, it was superb. The seating and environment was very pleasant and appealing. Overall a 10/10.

Jin T.

Yelp
Great food and drinks. Love the outdoor atmosphere for outdoor dining. They have great service and the burrito made me crave for a second for Togo.

Samantha H.

Yelp
Tasty and FAST! Check out the menu and order at the counter, take a number and find a seat. As a party of 4 we got our food in 10 minutes tops. The ingredients were fresh and the meals were delicious. I got the Mamas beef enchiladas with a horchata- man was it a good choice! Hubs got the Mole burrito. The others in our party opted for the veggie burrito and chicken enchiladas. The service was friendly and helpful!

samml m.

Yelp
ordered a bean and cheese burrito, add jalapeño to go...$10. got home to a bean and cheese burrito, no jalapeño. called the store, asked for a refund on my incorrect order; was told to come back to the store with my burrito for a refund...so, for $10, i'm meant to go out of my way twice for an order that could have been correctly completed by a kindergartner. will not be coming back. picture provided, for whatever 'proof' was needed

Taylor S.

Yelp
I was visiting a friend who lives in the Hawthorne area of Portland and we were looking for a cheap, quick, bite to eat and Cha! Cha! Cha! was great for our needs. We came around happy hour which was $4 beers and a very affordable entree menu ($6-$8). I ordered the beef taquitos, a side of Spanish rice, and 2 of their blonde draft beers. The taquitos were good but the rice was a little bland. We sat in a really nice, open, outdoor seating area that made socializing with our group very easy. The location is good too! Located on Hawthorne, you're next to a lot of good bars and shops. This was a great experience if you're looking for easy, common, fast casual-esque, cuisine.

Michael H.

Yelp
I love this place. Super tasty authentic and fresh. I've been eating here instead of Porque No more and more. Love PN but don't always need the fancy super expensive tacos. This is high quality taqueria fare. Taco salad is the best. Order from them directly by calling in and picking up - for some reason online orders and those through services are higher priced and not the same selection.

Andrew H.

Yelp
Now I know why the pozole is only served on the weekends, people, like myself, would want to eat it every. damn. day. Yes, it was that good. Pieces of hominy, avocado, radishes and chunks of pork all in a beautiful broth along with onions and cabbage. It comes with a palette cleansing tostada with sour cream and queso fresco. I also had a house made horchata that was simply amazing. I got a cup of soup, but could have easily put away a bowl of the steaming goodness. Everything was tender and moist with the crispness of the radishes and cabbage just added great texture to the pozole. Apparently I can't wait till the weekend comes back to find a Cha! Cha! Cha! to go order it again. To be honest, I'm sure the rest of the menu is great, but I don't know if I want to order anything else. It's some good stuff. The staff was friendly, even if it was a quiet and rainy Saturday. Like rain stops anyone in this town. Go enjoy some good home made food here. Enjoy.

Hannah P.

Yelp
Love little hole in the wall places; my boyfriend and I loved this place and are planning on going again. Juiciest chicken in our street tacos and a delicious margarita

Kionna F.

Yelp
Food is so good and you don't have to wait a long time to get it! Only downside is they don't have a lot of staff so if they're busy, you have to wait a while for them to help you

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Great service and great lengua tacos. Serving size was more in the small size especially for Mexican. This was their combination meal platter.

Sonny B.

Yelp
Love this place! Welcoming dining room, friendly staff, yummy drinks, all sorts of vegetarian options. Their house salsas are absolutely delicious. Fast service, too.

Lauren K.

Yelp
Yesterday was my first time coming to this restaurant and It was amazing! Tons of choices and really high quality, well prepared food. Plus the bets margarita I've ever had! I will definitely be coming back

Zachary W.

Yelp
Great food and staff. I order from here once or twice a week. They have a solid menu that has classic Taqueria items as well as their own unique farm-to-plate style bowls and salads.

Jocelyn G.

Yelp
So I ordered the shrimp tacos and my oh my. They were delicious. The shrimp was cooked to perfection even when it was smothered in a sauce. The sauce wasn't overpowering though, it really made the whole situation that much better. Oh and the chips & salsa.. super crunchy and tasty. I also got a pineapple margarita and it was just as awesome. I must also point out that the ambience of this place reminds me of home (Mexico) so well done new favourite place ;)

Angelina W.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place! Very quick service and amazinggg taste! There was only one woman working besides the cooks and she was so nice and incredibly helpful. The food was delicious and I highly recommend!

Michael B.

Yelp
Excellent food! Slightly pricey, though it's definitely worth it. Burrito mojado with fish is my recommendation. Chips are hot and crispy, guacamole has a perfect balance of lime/cilantro. Will definitely be coming back

Kris R.

Yelp
Good food, reasonable, and very kind staff even when things get crazy busy. I always get good service here and as a delivery driver, feel that this place cares about their customers and has operated during the pandemic with grace. Thanks!

Chris T.

Yelp
I ordered the carnita burrito, the Cha! Cha! Cha! IPA and the blonde beer they had on draft. Overall the experience was quite nice. I would label it as more of a fast casual place rather than a normal sit down restaurant. The outdoor seating provided a quaint, shaded area, away from the street, the burrito was satisfying and the beer was refreshing! The hosts were very nice and conversational too. I recommend the carnita burrito if you're looking for something meaty and filling. These days it takes a lot of food to fill me up, and the burrito was able to do just that. The house IPA and blonde beer were worth the money too. They were a great compliment to my food and the happy hour price was perfectly reasonable. All in all, it was a nice experience. If you're looking for affordable Mexican food in Portland with a nice atmosphere, Cha! Cha! Cha! can give that to you.

Julia T.

Yelp
I hate to leave a negative review, especially when my food was pretty decent, but the service here was bad. The cashier was unfriendly, in no hurry to get our order taken, and even interrupted us while we were ordering to have a conversation with the server. It took a LONG time for our food to come out, and the staff seemed not to care that the customers were kept waiting a lot longer than expected for lunch, especially considering that the restaurant wasn't busy. The tacos were good-- I ordered the pastor and pineapple (the pineapple added a nice, sweet flavor), the white fish (rather dry), and the slow cooked beef lengua (not particularly flavorful, but the meat was tender). I'm usually content after three tacos, but these ones were pretty small, and the tortillas were not entirely filled. If I had ordered more, maybe I would have been more satisfied, but at that point I'm looking at a pretty expensive lunch. This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I've heard it's quite popular, so maybe I just had a bad, misleading first experience.

Jacob W.

Yelp
The chips and salsa were delicious and the power bowl that I had was very good as well. With so many options on Hawthorne and Division I hope I can make it back here soon. Maybe during summer when the patio is open.

Vivi G.

Yelp
Food is great, drinks are good, they have really pretty plants, and the music is perfect for the mood.
