San Francisco Restaurant and Bar Cha Cha Cha to Close After 25 Years in the Mission | Eater SF

"The Haight Street outpost will continue operating even as the original Mission Street spot shutters; Yalcin upgraded the beer and liquor license at the Haight Street location in 2018, but the restaurant has been relatively quiet in recent pandemic years. Despite that, it remains one of those neighborhood places where everyone drinks and still draws regulars." - Paolo Bicchieri

Industry Experts on LA’s Biggest Dining Grievances in 2019 | Eater LA

Located on Haight Street, across the street from Kezar arena. This is a fun Caribbean restaurant is a great place to enjoy delicious food and sangria! I highly recommend their The paella mixta, which is Spanish rice with saffron, mussels, clams, chunks of fish and shrimp. We loved their cajun shrimp, which was more like a spicy, coconut-tomato bisque soup with shrimp. Served with slices of bread. Their breaded calamari was a great appetizer.

Delicious Cuban Caribbean fusion fare in a colorful setting will definitely make you smile! This place is energetic, happy and authentic. A must try is the Cajun shrimp served in a creamy sauce that is full of flavor but not overly spicy. Shrimp was cooked perfectly. The arroz con pollo with grilled chicken was fresh and flavorful. Rice was awesome! Guacamole and chips were as expected. The entire staff was gracious and friendly. Our waiter helped us with our selections and provided great suggestions. I would definitely come back! Highly recommend!

The food I had delivered from this Spanish restaurant was excellent . The Spanish rice was the fantastic and the chicken was finger licking delicious. I highly recommend people try this place out if they are ever interested in having Spanish food for lunch or dinner. I wish I could give them 40 stars ⭐️

tl;dr the steak sandwich is as good as people say, the new potatoes deserve their own fan club, and the frozen mojito is *chefs kiss*. Service was warm without being clingy, and I’m already planning my return for the nighttime bar vibe. Wow, Cha Cha Cha absolutely lives up to the hype. I came in curious and left full and grinning. The steak sandwich was everything I hoped for: Juicy, rich, and totally satisfying, and the new potatoes it came with were just plain addictive. Crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, and seasoned like someone in the kitchen really cares. What really sealed the deal, though, was the service. That Latin-style warmth was spot on: welcoming, relaxed, and never overbearing. It felt like dining at a friend’s place who actually knows how to host. Bonus points for the frozen mojito, super refreshing, light on sugar, heavy on flavor, and dangerously easy to sip. Daytime atmosphere was fun and upbeat, but nothing off-putting. I’ll definitely be back to scope out the evening energy and see if the bar scene brings a different kind of magic. Can’t wait for round two. Let’s see if the mojitos hold up after dark.

The food was delicious and service, excellent! It’s been years since I’ve been back and had to get that Cajun shrimp, it’s a must. We were so full just off the quesadilla and shrimp, had to box the rest. Thanks for the wonderful experience, Cha Cha Cha. 🫶🏼

**WARNING: ROACH IN DRINK** Went here for dinner after returning our ebike with the rental shop across the street. It smelled good and the bike guy recommended it. The place wasnt the cleanest looking place but we gave it the benefit of the doubt. Menu looked to have a good variety of items and drinks. As I was waiting for my bf to return from the bathroom, our drinks and calamari arrived. I took a photo of our drinks. I took a sip of mine, stirred it up, and took another sip. When I realize, there is something dark sitting at the top of the drink, IT WAS A COCKROACH. A ROACH WITH AN EGG SAC COMING OUT OF IT. I didnt notice it at first bc the roach was floating mid cup. I guess after i stirred it, it popped up to the top. I was disgusted. We immediately got up because I was not going to continue eating there. My bf pointed it out, gave the drink back. Staff just showed each other and kinda put the drink to the side. The server passed us as we were grabbing our things to leave and said "so sorry about that". Im just so disgusted that i actually took 2 sips from that...

Cha Cha Cha - A Burst of Caribbean Flavor and Fun!Cha Cha Cha is one of those quintessential San Francisco spots that just gets it. With locations in the Mission and Haight (I'm reviewing the vibe of both, as they share that distinct energy!), it's the perfect place to dive into vibrant Caribbean flavors, strong sangria, and an atmosphere that feels like a perpetual party. Atmosphere: From the moment you step in, Cha Cha Cha hits you with its lively, colorful, and slightly chaotic charm. Think eclectic decor, loud salsa music, and a constant buzz of conversation and laughter. It's not a quiet, intimate dinner spot – it's a place to let loose, share plates, and soak in the energy. The dim lighting and vibrant art on the walls add to the unique, bohemian vibe. Be prepared for a wait, especially during peak hours, but the energy makes it part of the experience. Food: The tapas-style menu is designed for sharing, and everything is packed with flavor. My absolute must-haves are the Fried Plantains (perfectly sweet and soft), the Cajun Shrimp (spicy, garlicky, and utterly addictive), and the Patatas Bravas (crispy potatoes with a fantastic spicy sauce). Their Jerk Chicken is also a standout, tender and well-spiced. And you absolutely cannot leave without trying their Sangria – it's dangerously delicious and flows freely, enhancing the festive mood. Portions are generous for tapas, so order a few to share and explore! Service: Despite the constant hustle and bustle, the service at Cha Cha Cha is surprisingly efficient and friendly. The staff are adept at navigating the crowded tables, taking orders quickly, and keeping the drinks flowing. They're generally laid-back but attentive, adding to the overall relaxed party atmosphere. Don't expect white-glove service; expect genuine, quick, and unpretentious interactions. Overall: Cha Cha Cha is more than just a meal; it's an experience. It's the kind of place you go with friends when you want good food, great drinks, and a guaranteed good time. The flavors are bold, the music is loud, and the sangria is potent. It's a true San Francisco institution for a reason, offering a slice of Caribbean sunshine even on the foggiest days. Come ready to share, laugh, and perhaps even dance in your seat! Pro Tip: Get there early or be prepared to put your name down and grab a drink at the bar while you wait. The sangria is worth the wait!

Yelp
Stellar flavors! The best place in the city for Caribbean food hands down! I've been here 3 times now and have not had a bad dish once. The showstopper is the Cajun shrimp in spicy cream sauce. The buttery, rich sauce is absolutely to die for and I drown the unlimited bread in it every single time. You can genuinely make a meal out of this alone, assuming you're eating as much bread as I usually do. This time around, we also ordered the lechon asado, jerk chicken, paella mixta, calamari fritto, and platanos maduros. The jerk chicken was probably my second favorite item we ordered, it was very different from other variations of jerk chicken I've had, and I loved their unique take. This one was sweeter and the sauce was a bit thicker and chunkier. The yucca con mojo was the star of the lechon dish, I couldn't believe how much I liked it. It was tender and seasoned very well. The dipping sauces that came with the calamari, a tartar and marinara-like one, were also delicious. I made a day-before reservation for a party of 5 on a weekday, just in case. We would've been fine as walk-ins though!

Yelp
As much as I love this place and giving it the 5-star review, as a regular at this restaurant for over 30 years, I wish they could bring back the sour dough bread. The new owners tried to save on cost and are baking their own bread. It's just not the same, especially when we love dipping the sour dough bread in the Cajun Shrimp sauce. We enjoy the Jerk Chicken, Cajun Shrimp, Fried New Potatoes, Fried Plantain, Shishito Peppers, Fried Calamari, and so much more! New owners of Cha Cha Cha, if you care about what customers want, please bring back the sour dough bread, or have one of your chefs go learn how to make sour dough bread for either Acme Bread or Boudin's please. We love Cha Cha Cha, but will love you more if you bring back the sourdough bread!

Yelp
Flavorful quesadilla with sour cream, fresh salsa, and fresh guacamole. Service was fast. Wait staff was both friendly and helpful. LOVED the colorful and festive atmosphere.

Yelp
Let's Cha Cha Cha over to this place because it's flavor town! You have to get their special shrimp with the sauce. We were fighting over this dish and had to order multiples of this. Their sangria is good too. Got a few rounds of that for our table. The ceviche is fresh, and their chips and guacamole was great. Overall the food here is awesome. We're already planning our next trip back.

Yelp
Must eat while you are in San Francisco! Well known for their drinks like house sangria, of course their food like plantains, ceviche, chicken pollard etc. what's not like to eat here? Our bartender/server was super nice and super attentive if we needed anything. You can ask for extra bread if you like so you can dip it in their amazing sauces. Love the music and atmosphere in this resto. Lots of hidden gems and memorabilia if you look up and down the restaurant. Enjoy!

Yelp
Always a good time! The festive decor, the lighting at dinner time, the colors, the vibe is awesome in here. A reliable DATE NIGHT spot. You know you'll have food and fun The best SANGRIA! Tastes sweet like juice, it will get you feeling good. You can eat the delicious wine infused fruit after too. You'll forget this is wine The food is fantastic: -Jerk chicken is so tender just perfectly cooked -Cajun shrimp: the sauce is buttery and tasty, plenty to dip your bread into -calamari is ok, not especially flavorful, comes with lemon and tartar sauce and marinara sauce on the side Service is efficient! They've got this down

Yelp
Fun little spot in the Haight! A friend and I had no plans other than to walk through GGP and we stumbled into Cha Cha Cha for dinner because their HH menu caught our eye. To order from HH, you have to sit at the bar area. HH menu has a decent amount of options and the food is good as well. We ordered wings, tacos, and the tater tot nachos. My friend ordered a drink off the HH menu too and it was pretty strong (how we like it, duh!) Service here was friendly. They kept making sure our water glasses were filled and asking if we needed anything. Fun spot in the Haight for HH!

Yelp
Stopped by while strolling Haight-Ashbury on Labor Day. Had good music and good vibes. Pretty fast service. I liked that the music wasn't too loud. My friend and I shared the jerk chicken and paella which was more than enough food for both of us. Jerk chicken: 4/5 Really big portion size. The jerk sauce was super unique and the chicken was soo flavorful. Paella mixta: 4/5 Also huge portion size. Had so many different things in it. Mussels, shrimp, chicken, scallop, fish, sausage (which we didn't eat), squid, calamari. I liked the olives in it. Rice was well seasoned too. Kinda wish it was only seafood to get more of the seafood flavor.

Yelp
Overall, the food was good. My favorite was the cajun shrimp as the sauce was savory and creamy. The spinach paired well with the bacon and mushroom in the salad. The chicken paillard was a bit dry but the mustard sauce was decent. This is a cute restaurant with a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. There was no wait for a party of 2 on a Saturday morning right when they opened.

Yelp
I still loved my experience at Cha Cha Cha, however my partner ended up having food poisoning later in the evening and it lasted until the next evening. Sorry guys. Maybe something happened in the kitchen with prepping the jerk chicken. I had to let you know to prevent anyone else from getting sick. I still plan to visit this location again one day as mistakes happen and things can be fixed moving forward.

Yelp
Heard a lot of good things about this place so i decided to check it out for with two other friends after a long walk around Golden Gate Park for Saturday lunch and we were sat immediately. We got the Cajun shrimp, jerk chicken, chicken wings, and guacamole and chips to share. The shrimp is so creamy and rich and has a spicy kick. We even asked for extra bread just so we could get all sauce with the bread. The jerk chicken is hands down the best I've had. Absolute flavor bomb. The chicken wings are tossed in this finger licking guava chili sauce. The guac and chips are not as memorable in comparison to the main dishes and maybe we should've gotten the plantain as a side. All the portions are massive and everything's reasonably priced so we ended up feeling super full. The service is fast and friendly. The only thing is we didn't get our water refill that often. The interior has a vibrant and colorful vibe and we came during the 60th Grateful Dead concert weekend so all the other customers also dressed in a funky and colorful way which added to the fun vibes. This place lived up to the hype and would love to come back and try more dishes!

Yelp
Came here on a weekday night. No reservations, but there were plenty of tables open for a party of 3. Been wanting to try this place since I was in high school. Ended up trying a few different things. Cajun shrimp was creamy and delicious. A rich dish. Wish they gave more bread, so I could eat the rest of the sauce. Jerk chicken was super tender and flavorful. There was so much sauce to go either the rice. Paella mixta was interesting. A variation on the Spanish original, but I prefer the original. The portions were massive. Definitely stuffed by the end of the meal.

Yelp
Great, delicious good, but really poor service :( they felt the need to express a $20 minimum charge even though we were still to order mains?! Very strange. The food was a highlight though! We got the yucca fries which were great, jerk chicken, shrimp with coconut sauce, and a pork main - everything was amazing! The ceviche was quite ok.

Yelp
Ambiance: it's located in a corner spot, and not too far way from the golden gate and panhandle parks, plenty of outdoor seats and spacious dining room inside, with full bar service in a separate narrow room Service: super friendly and very patient with requests, provided useful suggestion, served food fast and refilled water attentively Food: plenty of choices on their menu, classic Cuban food options and fusion dishes too PAELLA MIXTA - ***** Spanish rice with saffron, mussels, seasonal fish, shrimp, calamari, scallaps, chicken, and andouille sausage, rich in flavors, the rice is so tasty, and seafood combination is very fresh too, a must-try here, highly recommend CUBANO CLASSICO - **** Roasted pork, smoked ham, Swiss cheese, pickles in a pressed baguette, the roasted pork was so good, and the simple ingredients made the sandwich so yummy, recommend Plantain Fries with Pasilla Aioli - **** so crunchy and tasty, recommend Price: generous portions and very affordable prices, expect $30 per person for a hearty meal
google avatar

Yelp
We haven't had this in years and we ordered takeout via @postmates. We got the following: * Paella Mixta - Spanish rice with saffron, mussels, seasonal fish, shrimp, calamari, scallops, chicken & andouille sausag $29 * Jerk Chicken - Marinated chicken thigh baked with habanero peppers, raisins, garlic & tomatoes served over white rice $16 * Fried Potatoes with chile pasilla aioli $13 * Cajun Shrimp - House Signature! Sautéed in a spicy cream sauce $16 * Spanish Rice & Beans with sour cream $12 * Coconut Flan $10

Yelp
I have been going to this spot since 2016 and recently went back after not going for a while with my boyfriend and the food was just as amazing and delicious as it was back in 2016! It brought me back to all the amazing memories I have of living of San Francisco and the dear friends I made there. The service was fast and efficient and all the staff were professional, personable and lively. If a loud ambiance is not your thing I'd suggest somewhere to else. We had the arroz con pollo, lechon asado y ropa vieja. All 3 were AMAZING and their sangria was spectacular!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Great for large parties to share food and drinks! My second time here and I would say my experiences have been consistent. Came in on a sat night and put our names down for a group of 3, waited for 20 minutes but we just walked next door for a quick drink. Very busy, lots going on at all times. Service can be a little bit over the place but if you holler to get someone's attention I think they'll come. Lots of drink options available for pitchers! In terms of food, our favorite was the yucca fries! Comes out warm and crunchy, very good. We were confused by the food order. The paella came first followed by ceviche and plantains and the ropa vieja, and the yucca fries were last? The paella mixta was good, we liked how the seafood was cooked just right. Plantains I thought could be fried a bit more but still very sweet. I enjoyed the flavors of the ropa vieja a lot. A decent meal overall.

Yelp
tried cha cha cha for the first time and knew I wouldn't be disappointed. Loved their drink menu and deals and have to come back for happy hour. Went during non busy hour but very much enjoyed my visit.
google avatar

Yelp
I enjoy coming here. Service is nice, and food is fairly good for its price. I do think their sangria could improve a lot. Right now it's a bit messy... cheap wine with pieces of fruit. And be careful when ordering because many of the dishes come with rice -or rice and beans, so you'll have a lot of rice (and beans) on the table. Especially if you also order "rice and beans".... which I did without realizing. Their best dish, in my opinion, is the jerk chicken. Really good.
google avatar

Yelp
Wanted to Shazam the song the minute we walked in. Shrines on walls and a delicious menu of choices. My boyfriend got the Jerk chicken. What??? So incredible. I was boring and got the quesadilla. BUT....the salsa and guac? Worth it! Friendly staff. So glad they are still here after all these years! Nostalgia.

Dan W.

Yelp
Came in at 5pm on Saturday night with plenty of seating. Overt time the place did get more crowded. Their sangria is good tho not world famous as the menu states. Had the mixed ceviche which was very good. Calamari Frito was well done tho greasy. Vaca Frita, shredded pan fried beef with plantains and black beans. The beef was dry towards carnitas. The plantains had an old oil taste. Black beans were fine. I'd pass on this entree but they have another beef salsa version on the menu which I remember being pretty good. Service is still fantastic. I couldn't believe how fast the dishes arrived. If you're in a rush fine, otherwise I'd recommend ordering 1 or 2 at a time and continue as you wish. No bread served as before but they always had the worst dry bread anyway.
google avatar

Luminox M.

Yelp
Had a nice lunch out for 3 people but pitcher of sangria for $54.00 a little bit too much. Luckily we asked for no fruits in .

Yelp
A favorite for over a decade! You can really never go wrong with ChaChaCha. The food is always spot on--from the shrimp, to the chicken, to the muscles... plantains also a must. And you haven't been to ChaChaCha without a pitcher of sangria. Great for groups, but I will also dive in here if I'm solo and want a hearty meal. Service is always quick, and the vibes are always loud and fun. Cheers to more years of enjoying this gem

Yelp
Amazing food, great service and fun ambience It's been years since I've been on the hate and I went there with my eldest son Here's the front of the restaurant on Haight. We had warm spinach salad, Cajun shrimp, and the Spanish rice with chicken and beans

Yelp
Amazing food and good service. Our group tried a variety of dishes and everything was packed with flavor and really well prepared. The jerk chicken was a standout. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and had just the right level of spice and smokiness. The paella mixta was loaded with seafood and meat, with rice that was rich, savory, and cooked to the perfect texture. The lechón asado was incredibly tender and flavorful, with crispy bits that added a great contrast. To start, we had the wings, yuca fries, and steamed mussels. The wings were crispy and well seasoned. The yuca fries had a soft, fluffy inside with a nice golden exterior. The mussels were fresh and served in a broth that was good enough to sip on its own. The drinks were just as impressive. The mojito was my favorite. Super refreshing with fresh mint and lime that made it really bright and easy to drink.
google avatar

Yelp
The first things that caught my attention was the colorful and cultural decor. I loved it. My first time here and I took the recommendation of my server and tried the Ropa Vieja and it was delicious. I thought about getting the chicken wings too but the server said my first choice was a lot of food because it came with bread. I'm sure glad I took his advice. I look forward to returning:)

Yelp
A MUST when you're looking for a fun place for drinks with the girls or a cute dinner. Sit in a moody environment or chose the sangria patio have features community tables under colorful umbrellas. Of course our party of three got the pitcher of sangria and it was so delicious l. Packed full of fruits we all were able to have 2 cups each. Not to mention the food pairs perfectly. We may have gone over board but we enjoyed all the dishes. The standouts being the warm spinach salad, jerk chicken and the canjun shrimp. That Cajun shrimp sauce is to die for, it's creamy and rich while being seasoned to perfection so of course we wilder dipping our bread into it. Although the dish doesn't come with too many shrimps the sauce makes up for it. The jerk chicken is a pretty big portion with a chicken thigh and side of rice. Again cha cha cha really knows how to make a sauce because it was delicious! Would highly recommend for a lively atmosphere to chat and catch up with your friends.

Yelp
One of our favorite spots in the City for dinner and drinks. A great menu with many choices that remind us of our trip to Puerto Rico... we love the Vaca Frita and the Ropa Vieja. And we always order a pitcher of their Sangria. Leave room for desert - we've enjoyed their Caramel Flan and their Bread Pudding (with Caramel sauce). It's got a very friendly, carribean vibe and we've had good servers. Not a place for a quiet romantic meal but a great place for a lively, tasty evening out!

Yelp
Fun place to hang out with friends. We went here after hiking the Lands End Trail. If you are lucky, you may be able to get street parking nearby. But that's expected. The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived. But it was full when we left. The service was good. We were a group of 6 and ordered a lot of options from the menu. The serving size was surprisingly big. I had platanos maduros, cheese quesadillas and sautéed mushrooms. Mushrooms were ok. I liked the plantain and quesadillas. My friends also had the cajun shrimp and were a fan of it.

Yelp
Old school spot with great atmosphere! Tacos are huge and can be easily shared. Chips and salsa were good but nothing special. No frijoles negro just refried and salsas are nicely spicy. Calamari with blend of tentacles and rings was very fresh and enjoyable. Biggest disappointment was the margaritas which are made with a mix and no agave! Stick with beer..:') Servers were great and make sure to check out the specific art all over especially in the bar.

Yelp
It's been since before the pandemic I've visited chachacha. I'm so happy that they kept the quality of the food and great drinks as always, sangria. The sangria is just as I remembered, strong and refreshing; reminds of SF summer. We ordered the shrimp, jerk chicken, platanos and calamari. The calamari was lightly breaded and crisp. The shrimp is just as I remembered, flavorful and rich and never enough shrimp. The jerk chicken had a smokey flavor and a little bit of spice. The platanos is consistently good. I'll be back again and again.

Yelp
Located in the Haight/Ashbury district, this eatery is a great stop! We ordered a Cuban and the Ropa Vieja for our meals and we could not have been happier. The food is so fresh and flavourful! If you're looking for a great spot to have Lunch, stop in. Oh! Their Bar is amazing!

Yelp
Looking for a tasty and affordable happy hour in the Haight ? Check out cha cha cha ! Did not expect the cheeseburger to be so tasty ! The burger bun was sooo good 7/10. Classic chips and guacamole pretty good nothing crazy 7/10. I was so curious about the pork wings and how they were going to turn out. I give the pork wings a 9.5/10 they were actually so good it's all about the sauce! Also had a couple HH margaritas they were okay a little sweet 6/10.

Yelp
Fun and colorful Caribbean tapas spot! Eclectic decor and loud music. Friendly staff. Had the Cajun shrimp, jerk chicken, fried calamari and chocolate cake slice. The Cajun shrimp was nice and creamy. Jerk chicken was good, very tender and flavorful. Fried calamari was decent too. Good portion size. The chocolate cake had a unique twist to it.

Yelp
Bread $0 - decent, fresh, nothing special. Good for dipping in the saucy dishes Cha3 Jerk Chicken $14 - good. Perfectly cooked chicken and white rice went well with the tasty sauce. Good portion Cajun Shrimp $14 - good/decent. 6 pieces of normal medium sized shrimp. Sauce was very good and flavorful Chicken Paillard $14 - decent. Good portion of normal chicken breast. Sauce was creamy and tasty, but salty Paella Mixta $24 - very good. Our favorite dish. No soccarat (not cooked on a pan until crispy), but still good. Generous portion of rice and variety of seafood and meat Glass of Sangria $9 - good, can't say I tasted anything special about it, but almost every table had a pitcher of it Surprisingly not packed on a Sunday at noon. Walked in with a party of 4 and was seated right away. They don't take reservations (other location in the Mission does). They were consistently busy with people going in and out, but never a full house. Decent size restaurant. They have several small tables outside as well. Full bar. Service was good. Parking was free and plentiful along the Panhandle Park 2 blocks away. No issues at all. Overall, great food and service, very reasonable prices and portions. 5 stars

tldr; hip historical spot for caribbean tapas! somewhat pricey but the sizeable (and shareable) portions make up for it, and everything is super delicious and flavorful. recs: jerk chicken price: ~$20/person (with more savings on top of this after using the doordash dining out deal) - Ceviche: Sizeable chunks of white fish with fresh greens surrounded by a generous amount of tortilla chips! Juicy, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. - Jerk Chicken: Flavor explosion. The short-grain rice tasted so good with the jerk chicken sauce. The chicken thighs were soft and tender. Also great for sharing. - Guava Juice: Sweet but not overpowering! Tasted fresh. Would be really great on a warm day! Service was attentive, even during a busy lunch rush hour. My friend and I were really impressed! Would definitely come back.

Yelp
I came to Cha Cha Cha for dinner with a group of 6 and we had a nice time. We ordered tapas to share for the table, including the jerk chicken, ceviche, calamari, cajun shrimp, lechon asado, bbq chicken quesadilla, fried new potatoes, and spanish rice. The jerk chicken was my favorite thing that we ordered, the chicken was so tender and flavorful. It literally fell off the bone! The cajun shrimp had a delicious creamy sauce, but the shrimp were very overcooked and chewy. Definitely have to dip the bread into all the extra sauce! The new potatoes, calamari, and spanish rice were all surprisingly good. I would skip the lechon asado next time, the meat wasn't tender and I wished it wasn't so lean. Overall, a good meal with some standout items. Service was friendly and ambiance was nice but food was a bit overpriced for what it was in my opinion.

Yelp
Great ambiance, lively music, Cha Cha Cha offers pretty decent Caribbean cuisine. We went on a Friday night and got seated immediately. Food - the steak was tangy and flavorful. I loved it, the meat was on the tough side. The rice was also flavorful and moist. The downside was the empanada was a miss. The crust was a bit too dry for my liking and didn't feel too impressive.

Yelp
One of my top favorite places to eat in San Francisco! Everything is delicious and packed of flavor. I highly recommend the platanos, potatoes, ceviche, paella mixto, and wings. Sangria is always a good choice! Not far from many unique places to shop and fairly close to GGP.

Yelp
A solid choice if you're in the Haight-Ashbury area and like Southern and Caribbean food. I've loved everything we've had in our two visits thus far - the jerk chicken, the ropa vieja and the cajun shrimp. Note some dishes like the cajun shrimp are served without a side, but the gravy is so addictive I repeated this dish on my second visit. Just order a side of rice or maybe use the complimentary bread to scoop up the gravy. Also a special shoutout for the ropa vieja - one of the best versions of the dish I've had anywhere, and a very generous portion too. Service was warm and on point. They have a cute and colorful decor inside but visit while there's sunlight to enjoy the interiors; I'm not a big fan of their dim lighting in the evenings.

Yelp
Service, ambiance and food are always good at ChaChaChas! We came on Christmas Eve, a perfect time because they were not busy. Service was fast. Food was a perfect temperature and tasty. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Yelp
Great place for a couple drinks and tapas with friends but I didn't really think it was as yummy as I expected. Food was a bit bland for my taste. Service was all over the place. The ambiance is a bit too party for me.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times. Fun ambiance, decor, and music! Great corner location as well. Also liked that the bar area is in a separate zone as that's where we sat. We shared a sangria pitcher which was really good. It could have used some more ice for that extra refreshing taste but also glad that it's not watered down. Service on a early Saturday evening was fast but it wasnt too busy. Fun drink options as well as a nice selection of latin tapas. We shared the arroz con pollo and the plantain chips. Everything had a fresh and "homemade" approach and inspired seasoning and flavors. Really enjoyed the plantain chips/fries(?). These have been my favorite ones ive tried and the dip that came with them had a nice garlic aioli type flavor to it. Will definitely recommend and will come back to try more items and sip more sangria.

Yelp
We visited Cha Cha Cha on a Sunday (late) afternoon, and they were able to seat our party of 7 right away. The interior was spacious, with colorful walls and vibrant decor. For drinks, we got a pitcher of Sangria, which was perfect for sharing as a group. The Sangria itself was tasty, but far from the best I've had. For food, my sister and I ordered 4 tapas to share - the Cha3 Jerk Chicken, Fried Platanos Maduros, Cajun Shrimp, and Chicken Curry Empanada. This was kind of a lot for two people, but we were absolutely starving. The Cha3 Jerk Chicken was delicious! The sauce was so flavorful and had the perfect level of spice, and the chicken itself was very soft. The Fried Platanos Maduros were also excellent, and the portion size was generous. The Cajun Shrimp was one of our favorites, mostly because of the creamy sauce. It was almost curry-like, and so delicious! Once the shrimp were gone, we didn't want to waste it, and ended up just dipping in bread to finish the sauce. The only mediocre item was the Chicken Curry Empanada, which we could've done without. It was just a little dry and forgettable in taste. We were able to finish almost all our food, and left extremely full and happy. Would return!

Yelp
We travel the world for work and fun and Cha Cha Cha on Haight is just our favorite place to eat. The guy at the door has been scaring away tourists for 30 years telling them it's a 2 hour wait when in reality rarely longer than 20 min. Perfect amount of time for sangria at the bar!! Then, the tapas!! Just fill the table and share!!! If you leave room and they still have tres leches cake: GET IT!!! The decor is straight out of every local Caribbean joint as is the music, and it takes you there!! Just go already!!

Yelp
A casual dinner spot that also has yummy food for a decent price. We ordered the jerk chicken, fries, and plantains. The food was super solid, and the chicken's sauce was savory and delicious. I would maybe skip the fries next time, but the plantains were good and yummy to eat with the chicken. The service was also quick and friendly which is always a plus. Definitely check out this place if you are in the Haight area!

Yelp
I always loved my cha cha cha. But it's changed. The new ownership is not trustworthy and the old workers are at best.. fake. The new bread they serve is kinda yucky. its not a fench bread. The prices are higher for the same things. The food is greasy. Long time customers should be adored and valued . Here you will be outed like a number. I still miss my cha cha cha
