Ugh, I truly hate writing this review and was dreading it for so long. If you grew up on the East Side, Cha Cha sushi was "fine dining" in your early years. Anytime we were craving sushi, it would be a splurge to eat here. Eventually, as time went on their quality decreased, still good enough to eat when you're craving sushi and don't want to drive far.
Prices are relatively comparable to any other sushi restaurants. Brandon roll is the go-to staple roll. However, there has been a huge inconsistency throughout the years. At times, it's well marinated, good portion, and the fish was fresh. When this happens, you feel like you hit the sushi lottery. But now 80% of the time either the portion is really small, not marinated well, but the biggest one for me is the quality. You can definitely tell when they just got the fish in versus when they've had it for a while.
Hubby picked up dinner for a pre-Mother's Day and we splurged and got two Brandon rolls. Today, portions were generous but the quality was so fishy that I couldn't push through. I'm starting to notice a pattern, when the portions are small, the fish tastes good... when the portion is big, most likely they're trying to push out the fish hence the quality is worse. Not only could I not eat the fish on top, 30 mins later, I got a massive stomach ache and you know the rest. Literal pains in my stomach is what pushed me to write the review. When you're spending $140 for a to-go dinner, you would hope not to get food poisoning.
Still rooting for them, just hoping that this review pushes them to be more considerate of their quality.
