Where to Eat Around the University of California at Irvine (UCI) | Eater LA

"Cha for Tea is one of the most beloved boba spots in Orange County and for good reason. With refreshing teas and drinks that are highly customizable with the toppings, fruit flavors, sweetness, cream and milk additions, and the amount of ice, both the fruity and milk-based beverage offerings run the gamut. The crispy chicken makes for a fantastic accompaniment, while diners also frequently order dumplings, beef stew, and curry chicken from the food menu." - Cathy Park

I can't believe this place doesn't have a higher rating! Such good food for so cheap! It's healthy, delicious, and easy on the stomach. I had the Japanese curry with Chai, and it didn't disappoint. My boyfriend had crispy tofu with brown sugar bubble tea, and it was the smoothest, creamiest bubble tea he had ever had. I tried it too, and I can vouch for it. I can't recommend this place enough.

I love that they have various milk options. I would however say that the default on the peach green tea milk tea was five pumps of sweetener, which was way too much for me personally. Points off for the straw being a paper straw and the lid being like a dixie cup sort of lid and not that satisfying bubble tea portable sealed plastic that you get to satisfyingly stab which I'm sure is a side effect of the weak paper straw. I ordered bubble tea. of course I want to stab something. I'm really disappointed that I don't get to. Also, I kind of wanted to wait out the traffic here. There were two open tables inside but they were both dirty covered in sauce and/or tea. I grabbed some napkins and tried to wipe one of them down but whatever it was was too sticky and half dried on the table and so I couldn't get it clean enough to want to sit there. The upholstery is kind of beat up too so it wasn't looking super inviting. All that said, if I'm headed out of Long Beach on another occasion I'll probably stop here and order with no sweetener, to go, and I actually typically have at least one random boba straw in the car...

Very disappointed in this establishment. There were 7 of us and only one person enjoyed their drink - which was maybe because that person was the only person to order a cold tea. Convinced that the staff did not know how to make hot drinks. They were served to us very very late (multiple people behind us in line received their drinks well ahead of us and we still were waiting even when there was no line and no one in the shop). When we did receive our hot drinks they were not even hot anymore, and didn’t even taste that good. The staff offered to microwave our drinks for us but the experience was already ruined by then.

Love the Jasmine milk tea, mango green tea, almond tea... also really like their chicken salad. If you like Boba, they make it fresh there so you shouldn't get the off-texture ones.

Everytime I try a new place I try various flavors/styles of drinks. Tried the thai tea cooler and it had a very strong minty like taste which started giving me a headache. Thought maybe that was their thai tea flavor but when I tried my sons thai tea it tasted totally different. So I trashed my drink not knowing what that extra flavor is. Their matcha latte and mango milk tea were good. Also tried their strawberry colada cooler but none of us was a fan of that drink. Their boba is delicious though. Ordered a few popcorn chickens with different spiciness levels. Spiciness levels tasted all the same and its not the typical battered popcorn chicken I get at other shops but more like battered strips cut up. There very spicy was not even medium spicy and that's coming from the people who can't eat spicy.

Cha For Tea was a nice find! Great to get your milk tea fix in addition to grabbing a quick bite. I originally came to only try their chai tea milk tea w/ boba, but I ended up getting their brown sugar boba drink (which did not disappoint) AND trying one of their popular meals: their orange chicken with rice & corn. The dish also came with a small side salad which was a nice addition for the price. It's a perfect little meal that is very filling. The boba was great, with the right amout of softness & sweetness. The staff is helpful and efficient- I've been twice now and each time there was a line but I barely noticed the wait! This spot is worth a visit if you're in the area and you love boba.

What not to like? Have milk teas and snack entres, wifi, work station and dining. Mostly college students since it's across CSULB. Nice staff, some sample teas at the counter. My fav grab and go food is popcorn chicken.

The orange chicken is hit or miss. Sometimes fresh and fully covered in orange sauce sometimes dry, hard barely any sauce smh. Inconsistent quality
