"You’ll find Durango’s best Thai restaurant just north of downtown in a small, stand-alone building marked by a beautiful mural. Chang Thai started out as a food truck, and their massive popularity led to a brick-and-mortar spot where they also do a ton of takeout. If you like your noodles spicy, their pad kee mao hits the spot with a balance of heat and smoke. The chef takes their spice levels seriously, so order accordingly. The dining room is pretty casual, and you’ll get a good view of the kitchen working hard to crank out the long list of orders." - Kristin Smith

Google
DELICIOUS Thai food! This restaurant was packed; but, we were able to be seated quickly. Our server, Fatima, was very friendly and was able to give a little more details regarding our choices for dinner. The appetizers were delicious and savory. Definitely order the wings- you will NOT be disappointed! All of our entres were served piping hot with a side of white rice (brown rice is also an option). Our dinners were scrumptious! We all left with our bellies full and satisfied with our choices. We did not leave any room for dessert- mango with sticky rice. I bet that would have toppled us over. 😊

Google
We had an excellent experience enjoying dinner here. We tried several menu items and each one was incredible: you could easily tell that the dishes were prepared by people that really know how to flavor food. We tried crab Rangoon, won ton soup, chicken rice soup, pineapple fried rice and Thai fried rice. The service was great, friendly and attentive to our needs. We had a wonderful meal here and will definitely be back.

Google
I got what the menu described as Thai Sweet and Sour in basic terms. Great flavor. Good service. The restaurant was able to accommodate our group of 12 even though it wasn't a large restaurant. Very clean dining area and good service

In an attempt to try all the Thai restaurants in Colorado Springs, I gave Chaang Thai a try and was a bit disappointed. I ordered Spring Rolls, Massaman Curry, and Pad Nam Prik Pow Thai Hot. The Pad Nam Prik Pow wasn't bad but was a bit too sweet and certainly not Thai hot. The Massaman Curry was more like a potato soup with some chicken and not much taste. Again, not Thai hot. Massaman should be thicker, so this being soupy was disappointing. I would rate the Spring Rolls, but they failed to add them to my take-out even though I paid for them, so I'd give them a big zero. The place inside is a bit cozy, and the folks working there seemed nice. I may have to give them another try in the future.

Google
We got the udon curry with panko tofu off of the vegan special menu and it was so delicious!! We also got the vegan Tom Kha soup, which we’ve got twice now. We will definitely be back many times to come. They have great quick service

Google
We ordered a large Tom Yum Soup, and 2 orders of Drunken Noodles Tofu. We requested medium spicy for all, and they were all spiced perfectly. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent and we had quite a bit leftover to bring home. It was a little chilly inside the restaurant, but it was snowing outside, and our table was along the window. We will definitely return.

Google
I had the medium spice drunken noodles lunch portion with tofu and an order of spring rolls (2 cut in half) with dip. I already ate half of meal when I took the picture below. My husband ordered the yokisoba noodles with pork (not pictured) with an order of crab ragoons (6 I think). We both really enjoyed our meals. They were delicious! We got our orders fast! It had to be less than 15 minutes. The portions were generous too. I brought back half of my meal. We will definitely come back here.

Google
I have now ordered two separate occasions, and was not disappoint either time. The food is hot, fresh, delicious, and affordable during lunch specials! Pad See Ew with beef was absolutely delicious and flavorful. Only thing was meat was a bit dry. But for 10 bucks, I don’t mind! Pork fried rice was absolutely amazing! I have tried so many places in Colorado Springs that offer fried rice, and this is the only occasion that I have been satisfied! It is silky, delicious, and full of crunchy vegetables! The way it’s supposed to be. Very flavorful as well. There was a very nice balance of sweet and salty mixed with umami. I will be a regular!

Fabiana A.

Yelp
The food was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I got the combination pineapple fried rice and the seasoning was just right. Sometimes the saffron can be a bit overpowering but this one was quite gentle. We also got the pad see eew was out of this world, soft and rich in flavor. Plus the serving size is enough for leftovers when the second wave of hunger hits later and it hits just right 10/10 would recommend!!

Missy W.

Yelp
Very good Thai food and reasonably priced. Also good portions and pleasant staff. Would highly recommend .

Tushar S.

Yelp
Service: A+ Food: A+ Just be sure to make a reservation since the indoor seating is very limited. The medium spice-level is just perfect for these noodles and the (not pictured) egg rolls. Lastly, don't skip on their Thai iced tea or coffee to complete your meal. The egg rolls were filled with yummy veggies and were served fresh and crunchy. The noodles were savory and the veggies-to-meat combo was just right! Looks like I've found my fav Thai place in COS.

Krista H.

Yelp
As soon as I got there the host was very kind and knew exactly which order I was there to pick up. I got the massaman curry with tofu and loved it. Their prices are reasonable even for dinner! Highly recommend this spot for a good go to take out spot.

Crystal B.

Yelp
I always get the same thing when I eat here. Crab rangoons, pad thai with shrimp and red curry (we ordered both with a "hot" spice level). Both dishes were spicy :) This is one of my two favorite Thai places in town.

Tony H.

Yelp
I recently dined at Chaang Thai, a spot I've been curious about due to its glowing reviews and, let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The highlight of my visit was the Khow Soy, a dish that promises a complex flavor profile and delivers spectacularly. The noodles were impeccably made, providing a satisfying texture that perfectly complemented the star of the dish: the curry broth. The curry broth was a marvel of culinary expertise, rich with a myriad of spices and flavors that danced on the palate. Every sip revealed a new layer, from the earthy undertones of turmeric to the aromatic heights of lemongrass and galangal. It was evident that the chef has mastered the delicate balance of flavors that make Khow Soy so beloved. I opted for the highest level of heat available, and it was a decision that paid off. The spice didn't just add heat; it elevated the dish, intensifying the myriad flavors and making each bite a fiery revelation. It's a must-try for those who appreciate a good kick in their meal. While I didn't venture into the appetizers this time, the buzz around me suggested that the spring rolls are a crowd pleaser. Given the high quality of my Khow Soy, I have no doubt that they're every bit as delicious as rumored. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to try them out. In summary, Chaang Thai is a four-star gem that offers a delightful culinary experience, especially for those who dare to explore its spicier offerings. Whether you're a fan of intricate, flavorful dishes or just in search of some truly excellent noodles, Chaang Thai promises and delivers.

Yelp
I was in a hurry, and eschewing the more conventional fast casual places in the surrounding shopping malls for this little Thai place was a good decision. They had a separate vegan menu, plus some vegan specials for some event, but I went relatively conventional with drunken noodles. A complimentary soup was also vegan, though the accompanying pastry was not. I asked for my drunken noodles Thai hot, and they certainly were. I needed a bit of extra water, but the heat wasn't so much to overwhelm the flavors, as the vegetables were ample and had a perfect crunch. It was quick, it was delicious, and it didn't have any of the seafood ingredients that make Thai places tough for us vegetarians. I wish I'd had time for more food.

Elena G.

Yelp
Do not order from here if you are vegan/vegetarian!! Ordered the vegan thom kha soup and after taking a few spoonfuls realized it had chunks of chicken in it. Called the restaurant to let them know and they acted like it was no big deal. Very disgusted and disappointed.

M S.

Yelp
We had the seafood Tom Yum soup and an order of Yellow Curry. We both thought the dishes were a little sweet tasting. A little too much for our taste. Of the two, I liked the Tom Yum better. Service was fantastic and great place to sit down

Erik G.

Yelp
Best thai curry Ive had in awhile, Pad Thai was good as well, noodles sauced well, not clumped like you get sometimes, super thai hot is deliciously spicy!

Priscilla S.

Yelp
This is my go-to Thai restaurant in Colorado Springs! The service is good and the food is delicious! I went for dine-in lunch one time and they gave free appetizers (a crispy wonton + soup) and it was just a little taste--enough to try it but not too much where it leaves you full for the actual meal. I'll definitely be coming back!

Paula M.

Yelp
My son and I ordered dinner and there was a bug in my food. We have eaten here several times but it seems to have problems these days.

Mcnamara D.

Yelp
We went for an early meal at 5 o'clock, and the place was empty. It was a very nice place but we had to sit outside because we brought our dog with us. The service was very attentive however they don't serve alcohol so we just had water. Wife had a nice house salad with satay chicken on top. Chicken was a bit dry, but the sauce was very tasty. I had some pineapple rice, which was outrageous. Very tasty. Also larb salad with pork, and it was very tasty, although not quite to a level four spice which I asked for. Overall very good surprising location very comfortable and great food and service. Highly recommend.

donna s.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place. The food is tasty, reviews good but when I grubhubed two Thai Basil's, there was literally 4 small pieces of chicken in it. So disappointing as it was meant to feed two of us.

Marie S.

Yelp
Food was ok- not gourmet. Service was also ok- the server was not very helpful when asked about different food choices- she just said, depends what you like. The ginger stir fry was fair, it missed more sauce, the veggies were pretty chunky and it did not taste gingery at all. The drunken noodles were fair, lacked some more savory flavor. Also, the veggies were very chunky. Param a chef special menu was mediocre. It was boiled chicken with chunky veggies, including broccoli and covered with a peanut sauce -such as the one from the Thai rolls. Ambiance was ok- the air conditioner blows on your food and makes it instantly cold. A positive note was the soup and crab Rangoon given as a nice treat prior to ordering. Overall fair food and service.

Susan C.

Yelp
It's a very small restaurant with just a few tables. I had the Panong curry, spice level two. It's borderline spice level three . Very delicious, slightly sweeter than what I'm used to, and there were green beans in it, which I've never had in it -- only snow, peas, and carrots, sometimes potatoes.. nevertheless, I will definitely go back.

Tiffany V.

Yelp
This restaurant exceeded all of my expectations I had prior to eating here. It's a sit down place, however very small inside so be aware if you're coming in on a weekend or dinner time. The environment is so clean and modern. Also, the staff was incredibly nice! Pictured is the E3. Pad Priew Wan Dinner (sweet and sour). I ordered the dish with chicken and white steamed rice. If I had one complaint, it would be that there was very little chicken and mostly veggies. But honestly it was so delicious it's hard to even complain! There's different spice levels; out of mild, medium, hot, and Thai hot, I got hot. (I will get medium next time). The sauce used was so unique and different, I'll crave it until I can go back soon! We also ordered the red curry, which was yummy but very comparable to other Thai restaurants I've tried. A must try is their Thai Iced Tea - I will also crave this drink until I'm able to go back for more. Over all an amazing experience, must try!

Mira T.

Yelp
Heard this place had some good reviews. My husband and I came for dinner. Food was really good and so was the service! We had the drunken noodle, pineapple friend rice with shrimp, green curry chicken and crispy pork belly. They were all delicious! Definitely coming back!

Maries M.

Yelp
The food is delicious. We ordered pad Thai, Tom yum soup, beef teriyaki, pineapple fried rice. Service was fast which is great cuz we were with kids. Generous portions, I totally recommend this place you won't regret it.

Katie C.

Yelp
Our favorite thai spot in town! We enjoy the pad Thai and the crab Rangoon each time we visit! Looking forward to trying more of the menu. Good service too!

Leslie J.

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner and was so impressed, their food is amazing, their service was just wonderful. Medium spicy Pad Thai w/Chicken and their Hot and Sour soup. Will go back often.

Bill S.

Yelp
Food and service wa great I had the drunken noodles spice level 4 and it was a great heat level. My daughter had the yellow curry which she loved.

Malik C.

Yelp
Ever since spending 40 days in Thailand its almost hard to find shrinking remotely close to their authentic dishes. I can say this place checks the block for me and my food was really delicious. They have a nice size dining area for indoor and outdoor. The staff was pleasant the entire time I was there and I did wait a bit for my food since it got extremely busy out of nowhere. Nonetheless, it was all worth it. Pad Thai- was seasoned and cooked to perfection with the right amount of spices and sauce. The dish was a lot to consume so took the rest home for later. Thai ice tea- was extremely sweet, would recommend less cream but definitely worth it

Khiang S.

Yelp
Another authentic Thai restaurant. Stopped in for dinner after an evening hike at the garden of the gods. I have two litmus tests for Thai food authenticity. Actually three. First is tod mun (fish cake our fish patty) second is Tom yum soup and third is pad Thai. We ordered all these dishes plus a Thai boat noodle soup. All the dishes were good and passed my test for authenticity. Tod mun is tasty with the peanut sauce on it. It was served with raw cabbage and I didn't think that was necessary. I prefer my Tod mun to be served with pickled cubed cucumber with chili flakes. Nevertheless, the taste of the patties was authentic. Tom yum soup also tasted authentic and great. Tasted fresh and you can smell the lemon grass used in preparing the soup. Right level of sourness from the tomatoes. They are many versions of Tom yum soup and the best version is a clear broth version with fresh vegetables. This one taste good, has a brown broth and chunky vegetables. I had shrimps and they were small. Pad Thai was tasty and authentic. Noodles weren't sticking to each other other. You know a bad pad Thai if the noodles are a lump or it looks pale. The Thai boat noodles soup is like a beef pho with a thicker broth. The broth has a lot of spices. It tasted good and it was served with beef balls and slices. For authentic Thai food, come to Chaang Thai!

Nancy G.

Yelp
Good food and server. I had the Drunken Noodles with Pork. My husband had the Chaang Signature stir- fried noodles off the Chef's Special Menu. Serving sizes were very generous. Our server was the only server working the entire restaurant, which I think really needed 2-3 servers, so she was constantly on the move, trying to serve all the guests as best as she could. That resulted in slow service, which is the only reason I give them 4 instead of 5 stars. They had a "help wanted" sign in the window, so apparently they were short on staff. But she had a great attitude and smiled a lot, so kudos to her. We sat outside since the weather was nice.

Cindy M.

Yelp
3rd time here. Food is just not hot enough in temperature. The pad thai was too sweet.

Melissa O.

Yelp
The food was awesome. One of the best Thai around. We did online ordering and the food was ready on time.

Matt P.

Yelp
I love the Khow Soi. I get it every time I go here. I've never tried anything else on the menu.

Susie B.

Yelp
I have absolutely fallen for this place and the food, staff, service have been exceptional every time. I think my first visit was pre-Covid and they were very busy so we waited a little more than I had expected. Since Covid, when other places have long waits and poor service, Chaang has stepped up above and beyond my expectations. The food is always delicious and so many vegan options! There is a nice little outdoor patio and cozy indoor space as well. The staff is strictly enforcing social distance, masks, recording customers names and numbers, etc...things other places stopped weeks ago. If you like Curry or Thai food, this should be a must on your list!

Alyssa P.

Yelp
Amazing dishes! Very authentic Khow Soy - the best I've had since being in Chiang Mai. The food has always been delicious and the appetizers are great as well.

Sathya P.

Yelp
We decided to try out various dishes from their vegan menu, including Vege Egg Rolls, Yellow Curry, Green Curry, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Tom Kha soup. To our delight, everything was delicious and served piping hot, just as we had requested. When I arrived, my order was ready for pickup, which was very convenient. The restaurant may be small, but it exudes a cozy and clean ambiance, with ample parking available.

Carlos F.

Yelp
Small and cozy. With excellent service and great food. Thai hot was really good. You have to try the tea

Craig B.

Yelp
I'm originally from Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, which is the restaurant capital of America and there is so much Asian food to choose from. I haven't been really impressed with many restaurants here in Colorado Springs, but last night I stopped in to this place and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the drunken noodle with chicken and the flavor and the spice were perfect! The chicken was tender and the portion size was good for the price I paid. I'm looking forward to trying other things on their menu and would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes Thai food!

Angella C.

Yelp
Very disappointed. We ordered 3 dishes and all of them were sweet - including the side of fried rice! The only reason that I am giving them a second star is because we really like our appetizers. I doubt very much that we will be back.

Carly W.

Yelp
Craving authentic Thai that boasts accurate heat measures?! ++ COME HERE!! I've opted for both the chicken and shrimp pad thai, and it is always spot on. The crab rangoons are always perfectly fried. Yearning for a menu that boasts a wide variety of curries, soups, apps, and more?! ++ COME HERE!! Chaang Thai def delivers a menu that offers up a wide variety of dishes to satisfy the most discerning of palettes. Thirsting for a refreshing Thai iced tea or Thai coffee?! ++ COME HERE!! Nithya G.

Yelp
I decided to try this place for dinner while I was on vacation at Colorado springs. It's a small and cozy space for indoor dining and they had a beautiful outdoor patio area. I ordered the Pad Thai and is was very flavorful, I didn't enjoy the Thai ice tea as much, it wasn't as sweet as I'd prefer it. Overall this is a great restaurant however the lady at the front desk wasn't wearing a mask. I wasn't worried about it too much, until she started coughing hard when she came by to pick up the check. I'm sure she wasn't the one who was cooking the dishes, however I am sure she could have worn a mask especially when she knew she had a cough. The other servers at the restaurant were wearing masks. While I enjoyed the food and the ambiance, I wasn't happy about my overall experience and would not recommend dine-in at this place.

Tyla S.

Yelp
Food came out quick within minutes of ordering, even while it was busy. Food is not salty which is great, but a little sweeter than other Thai places. There was a piece of egg shell in our Pad See Ew, and sad they didn't have an option for fresh tofu. Also sadly they did not have a pepper tray, with the sliced Thai peppers in fish sauce, but not a bad place at all. Forgot to take pix of our food before we ate.

April W.

Yelp
We were really hungry after exploring colo. Springs and we were craving Thai boat noddles, Thai boat noddles are pretty rare to find so this is a hidden gem, the service was exceptional and the atmosphere was very nice. The boat noddle tasted very authentic, perfect amount of spice for Thai hot!. The portion was very big and nice. The pad ka pow was alright, a bit too sweet for my preference, it was missing one of the most important ingredients which is the basil leaves, :/ overall very good and I finished it all anyways Overall I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone craving some Thai food in town

R F.

Yelp
We recommend the pad thai and the beef red curry. Both were really good. Medium level of spice is pretty hot. Service was great and the food came out quickly. We will come back and try the other dishes.

Velnette J.

Yelp
I have been trying to visit here for months now, being a little bit of a drive I finally made it! Inside is quaint and inviting. Our server was very helpful with our choices and very sweet. I love that so many dietary restrictions are accommodated here! I asked if they had a separate gf menu or if they could just tell me what was gf, the waitress said anything I wanted besided the fried breaded options they could make gf! We ordered a papaya salad to begin, it was so light and packed with flavor. The dressing was so delicious and had a little heat. I ordered a veggie stir fry dish with tofu. The tofu has a nice texture to it, not just a raw tofu. I loved the sauce on my dish, so different, so packed with flavor. I really cannot wait to return!

Cathy T.

Yelp
Excellent service, delicious food, especially the pineapple chicken curry - highly recommended! The friendly host promptly seated us, handed us menus, and took our order swiftly. The food was absolutely delightful, leaving us eager to return. It was a special treat to dine in this restaurant for the first time, as we usually order their food for delivery.

Lauren B.

Yelp
Food was super awesome! I am gluten intolerant and the staff had a great understanding of cross contamination and there is a WHOLE gluten free menu!!! My husband had the Yakisoba and he said it was amazing. I wish I could pick up this restaurant and move it to Texas!

Jason M.

Yelp
Came here for dinner a few nights ago, as my wife and I are trying to find the best Thai restaurant in the area! When we first came in, we were greeted right away by the friendly server. He brought us right to our table and things started out great. After that, the service seemed to get a bit worse. I will say, though, the server was all on his own, bussing tables, taking orders, and greeting everyone that came in. With that in mind, I am not going to be too much of a stickler. He did fill everyone's water around us, however, and wouldn't come back to our table, which was unfortunate. The food itself was decent. The wife and I were overall pleased with our meals, but felt the food could've been spicier. We asked for a 4/5 for the spice, and it felt more like a 1. Overall, not a bad place, but maybe for carry out next time. The aesthetic wasn't anything special either, so don't feel like you'll miss out on an opportunity by ordering carry out.

Sharman R. H.

Yelp
I haven't found any Asian restaurant in Colorado Springs as delicious as Chaang Thai. It tastes like homemade Thai food! I love it and the ambiance is so relaxing. The people are nice and give good service .

Tasfia A.

Yelp
This spot is excellent for the quick service and satisfying meal you can get for such a good value. Coming in for lunch on a Monday, there weren't too many people dining in so we didn't have to wait to be seated. For lunch, you get a complimentary crab rangoon and soup (which were both super tasty). I ordered the Pad Kee Mao with chicken, which was delicious and satisfying. I'd asked to make it medium-spicy; either they forgot to add in the spice or medium spicy just wasn't spicy! I also tried the Pad See Ew, which was yummy and also flavorful. The Tom Kha Gai soup was also delicious (the broth was creamy and coconut-based). The small soup portion is actually quite big! Can't complain about the service and flavors. A good place to get a quick lunch. Parking situation: on-site

Ryan P.

Yelp
We ordered the Pad Thai and the Panaang Curry and they were both very good. We ordered Takeout and it was ready when we arrived and the portions were big. Highly Recommend.

Angi C.

Yelp
One of the best Thai food restaurants in the area! I love the Phad Thai and my husband loves the Phad kee mao. Also try the tempura kabucha squash- a must!! Highly recommend!

Matthew L.

Yelp
Out of the four thai food places in C.Springs I have had (Basil,Mint,Zesty,Chaang) This is the best one in terms of quality. They have such an array of spice levels to choose from (if you dare!) and the curries are magnificent. I have tried almost everything on the menu and it never disappoints no matter what I get. The location is small and cute- perfect for a dinner date. The service is good- the food comes out quick and the workers are super polite and happy. This is my go to place when dining out. I have gotten take out orders- quality is the same (great) but if you are going for portion size- Zesty Thai gives you a little bit more (but way more oily).

Tigra C.

Yelp
I was drawn in after finding out about the separate vegan menu that is available. VEGAN EGG ROLLS - Crispy and delicious. RED CURRY - ordered Thai Hot with veggies and added broccoli. Delicious curry sold here! The spice was perfect. I'd order this again. THAI BASIL FRIED RICE - with crispy tofu; added garlic. Spice level hot. I ordered the lunch portion and it was still a lot of food. The rice, however, wasn't that great; it was just ok. Despite adding garlic and spices, it was still bland. That was disappointing. I wasn't blown away, so it's really more like 3 1/2 stars. But the fact that they have a dedicated vegan menu is reason enough for me to return and give them another try one day.
