Yelp
Authentic and delicious vegetarian Indian cuisine. I absolutely love that they have Dahi Batata Sev Poori, Bhel Poori, and other street food dishes that you don't always see served at some Indian restaurants.
Both the Dahi Batata Sev Poori and Bhel Poori were so refreshing and nicely balanced with all the different textures combined - delicately crispy, creamy, and flavorful... using the right spices and sauces. Bhel Poori in particular comes with fresh pomegranate and cilantro which gives it such a rounded finish! The Sev Poori also kept its crunchy exterior while still holding onto its puffy form encasing spicy, sweet, savory, salty and tangy flavors with delicious yogurt, spices, potaoes, chickpeas, chutney and tamarind sauce.
Luckily, Chaat Bhavana has several spots in the Bay Area! So, I now get to stop by whenever I crave those favorites snacks/appetizers. I recommend the snack combo, which comes with 2 appetizers (8 different dishes yo choose from) and either a tea, soda, or chaas drink for $14.99. 2 to 4 can share this appetizer. Good deal, and you get to try a nice selection! I also ordered the spinach paratha flatbread, which comes with a side of cooling yogurt raita, sliced raw onions, and spicy pickled amla (gooseberry). The paratha came out warm/freshly made. Beware the amla can be fairly spicy for those not familiar with Indian levels of spice - so the yogurt raita chutney paired nicely to help cool things down as a chaser to the spicy pickled amla.
Drinks: Indian tea (black tea with milk and masala spices) which came with the snack combo or would be $2.99 by itself. Masala soda $3.99 (refreshing soda infused with lime, masala spices and fresh ginger leaves). Highly recommend this drink. We will definitely be back to try their other dishes.
