"Another stop along El Camino Real, Chaat House focuses on North Indian/Punjabi cuisine and chaats. Get the most bang for your buck by ordering their bhel thali for less than $10. The set comes with bhel puri chaat, one sabji (main dish), two roti, kadhi, dal, rice, and your choice of beverage. The restaurant is currently open for takeout and delivery via Doordash." - Hetal Vasavada

Chaat House is one of my regular spots to hang out. The food is reliably good and closely matches the flavors I remember from India. The staff is friendly and the service is generally pleasant. While I usually visit for their chaat, their lunch and dinner options are also quite flavorful and worth trying. I definitely recommend giving it a shot if you’re craving authentic Indian street food.

Visited here a couple of times during my recent business trip to the bay area. I tried their veg thali, chaas, mango lassi, paneer pakoda and spinach poori subji and all the dishes really felt authentic, fresh and tasty. Chaas was a little sour to my taste. Service was superfast and courteous all the time. This restaurant has made sure my Indian taste beds are awakened even when I am in US. This place is also clean, neat and very well maintained.

Google
My goto place. This place has some really good food (more inclined towards homemade style cooking rather than restaurant style food). My favorites are Makke di roti Saro da Saag, Dal Makhani, Malai Paneer, Aloo onion paratha, Methi paratha, House combo (everyday different entrée), Chole Bhature. Really nice chat snacks too. I can't go wrong with anything I try here. Not to forget - really good customer service.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chaat House and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I stepped in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for what would be a delicious meal. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making great recommendations for both food and drinks. They offer an incredible experience for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine. Whether you’re a fan of mild or bold flavors, there’s something for everyone here. Highly recommend!

Google
Must try their parathas. Extremely huge. There’s a lot of stuffing too.. Good quality food

Google
Super fast service. Good food. Lot of options. Just hope they will stop using plastic spoons in hot food. 2 years later they still have fast service and this time we asked them to put less sweet and not more spicy and out chaats came out perfect for us.

Chinmay S

Google
Delicious chaat food, reasonably priced with great service. We mostly do takeout but have dined-in as well. With the myriad of chaat food-trucks in/around Sunnyvale now, I can imagine folks ignoring this place, but imo, their food is better than most food-trucks. Especially love their parathas, sprout bhel and chana poori.

Google
If I could give zero stars and ask for my money back, I would. This is one of the worst chat I've ever had. I ordered some simple samosas and a raj kachori. Both are inedible. The base of Taj Kachori was as hard as a brick. Pathetic. Waste of money.

Yelp
Me and my girlfriend recently went to the wonderful Sat Baba temple in Sunnyvale. It was nearing dinnertime and we got a local recommendation for some pure veg Indian cuisine which led us here. Chaat House is awesome. Super humble. I love the down to Earth vibe here. The woman who helped me was Punjabi from the Punjab region of India where I have been. I went on a yatra to Amritsar and also went to Chandigarh. I am a longtime vegan and opted for a thali. I told my server that I wanted it vegan if possible for most of the thali has raita and kheer made with dairy. She was able to make me a delicious vegan thali sans dairy. I found the thali tasty, nourishing, and healthy. It came with chana masala, palak, two different kinds of lentils, a potato dish, rice, and roti that was piping hot made in house. My girlfriend wasn't that hungry so got two extra roti and she tried it. My beloved enjoyed the thali except for the palak aka spinach dish. She enjoyed everything else and especially the fresh as you can imagine roti. I loved it all even the palak dish. Many locals got take out here and a few dined in. We could see why. This hidden gem is a find and worth checking out. Arigato. We will be back next time we visit the Sai Baba temple in Sunnyvale!

Ramona B.

Yelp
My friend and I visited this restaurant for lunch. They have several options to choose from their menu. I decided to go with thali which comes with plenty of rice, several sides to choose from and you can either have chapati or roti. The restaurant serves the thali North Indian style which means there's no sambar and the food is more sour and not so spicy. The restaurant was packed when it arrived which means it is popular, but if you crave spicy thali this might not be the restaurant to visit. I ordered chapati but did not like it either. The restaurant is located in a small shopping center and parking might be a challenge.

Yelp
Pretty standard and tasty vegetarian Indian place! Dropped by for a quick food stop and had hot paneer paratha and dahi sev puri. Would come back again if I'm in the area.. otherwise you could get this at most Indian restaurants in the Bay Area!

Kamaljit K.

Yelp
A very family/homey restaurant. Great parathas, I enjoy eating the onion and Muli paratha. Chaat is also very tasty.

Akshay K.

Yelp
These 5 stars are for the exceptional rotis and the mind blowing bhindi! I can have this all day, everyday! Thank you Chaat House

Vidya K.

Yelp
Picked up food again from here. Their food is awesome and authentic. Not doused with chilies like some other Indian restaurants. Once again a huge shoutout for the mooli(radish) paranthas. The saag-makkai ki roti ( mustard greens with corn flatbread) is delicious. 10/10 as always This time we also tried combo#1. Rice. Creamy black lentils with two sides - peas and potato + cottage cheese served with some yoghurt and kheer( milk and rice pudding) served with chaas( buttermilk spiced with mild spices). I drove 30 mins just to pick up the food and would go again and again.

Deep G.

Yelp
Great food. Fresh ingredients. They make their food with great care. You can taste it how well everything is made. I tried their samosa chaat for appetizer. The samosa was freshly made before getting smashed in the chaat. You can feel the warm crispy samosa wrappers in your mouth. They serve it with onions garnished on top along with the mint and tamarind sauce. For main course I tried their Onion aloo paratha with Navratan (mixed vegetable) korma. It Was delicious. The texture of the paratha was perfect. Tasted awesome with the Navratan korma. The korma was cooked perfectly with all the vegetables tasting excellent with perfectly rich gravy.

Sha P.

Yelp
Very nice Indian food. Must visit restaurant for authentic Indian fare. One of the best Parathas in Bay Area.

Shivani H.

Yelp
Service was good! We got our food in 10mins. Food was fine, felt something familiar. Puri was a little oily but ok for me. Ambiance was not so great, if you want good for good price then this is your place.

Nilo J.

Yelp
Best vegetarian Indian food . Very tasty and reasonably priced. Their chaats are also really nice. Best things to try is the thali, aloo paratha, paneer paratha and chole bhature. Their sarson ka saag is pretty good too I guess it's seasonal . Great service no complaints ever. Always accommodating and helpful.

Fred J.

Yelp
The food is fresh, flavorful, homestyle, and very consistent (see photos). The room is calm and has plenty of space. They're open late, seven days a week. The owners are super nice. What's not to like ?

Sahana E.

Yelp
We ordered pani puri and it was something from refrigerator very cold.. Misal pav was a bit sweet but better.. but served only with one pav.. Considering the price point, the quality is bad and quantity is also less

Atreyee B.

Yelp
I come here every week at lest for once. I love to have chaat from this specific Chaat house. They keep the restaurant very clean. I only have one tiny issue which is that they add very less amount of salt in samosas and in few chaat which makes the tase bland.

Naresh A.

Yelp
Great taste and fresh food! I like their combos and parathas. Never gone wrong!

Charu K.

Yelp
Great food. We've had paranthas, makki roti w/ saag, chhole bature, daal makhani, chili paneer, thali/combo - they were all delicious. We loved the chaas too. Being a North Indian myself, the food felt quite authentic - just like home cooked food- without any natural/artificial colors or flavors. We have always dined in and service has been good. Highly recommended!

Ariella N.

Yelp
Total rip off - over priced for the smallest portions, it was laughable. Charged $11 for an extra small CARDBOARD bowl of lentil soup and $11 for an equally extra small ball of Alo Gobi (potato/cauliflower). For that price, most other Indian restaurants give 2x the servings they gave. The flavor of the yellow lentil soup was good I will say, VERY spicy. The Alo Gobi was not the best. Would never come here again for the extreme overprice and tiny quantity.

Jenny D.

Yelp
The garlic naan was delicious! I am not familiar with this cuisine but I had so much fun with my two friends. We ordered about six dishes and every single item was delicious. Lots of eggplant and other veggies, dips, sautéed goodies. I would definitely go back. The only reason for the four stars is that I was not familiar with any of these dishes and I don't think I can judge whether they were five star. However, I loved them all.

Harsha P.

Yelp
Sev Puri - Its okay. Nothing special Masala Puri Bhaji - Potato was extremely bland. No taste at all.

Madhava C.

Yelp
Quick service, nice people and tasty food! Ambiance definitely is geared more towards take out but there's place to dine in. Will def visit again.

Anubhav A.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants if you want to have food which is very similar to home made food.

Ash K.

Yelp
Wasn't really good tbh. Food didn't taste good. Ambiance was not existent had cooks in the wrong just chilling. Paper and plastic utensils. Good service tho.

Vidya N.

Yelp
Simple delicious food. Great for a quick lunch during the work day. They do catering as well. Brought the food on time and it was delicious!

A W.

Yelp
Beware of the takeout and delivery! The food was good, not too salty or greasy - BUT there is a real problem with ordering - and I'll second the concern over the sized containers v cost... I'm not sure if the same guy who takes the orders over the phone, also packs the bags? If so then it would make sense why he gaslit my husband when we called to report that we were missing a dish. A main dish... butter paneer. It was on the receipt attached to the bag and NOT in the bag. If you're keen to have some good Indian and get ripped off (or swindled) - then this will be your favorite restaurant.

P M.

Yelp
I think the service here is excellent. I have come a few times and the staff are very nice, helpful, and friendly. I also think the food is very good! Some of my favorites are the hara bhara paratha, the plain paratha, the aloo bhara paratha, saag paneer, bhindi, bhel chaat, and chole chaat. The chai is also very good. I always ask for extra tamarind chutney and they are always happy to oblige. I find this to be good, comfort food! I would say most things are reasonably priced. It's super casual so the ambiance is not the reason to come here. But I don't mind coming to have a quick lunch or a tea time snack or early dinner.

Mugdha T.

Yelp
Our go-to place for chaat and paratha cravings. We end up going here atleast once a week for dinner. The go-to order is hara bhara paratha, chana masala and sev batata dahi puri which is good enough for me and my husband. Hara bhara paratha is the most delicious thing from their menu in my opinion but then everything else is also very homely and good! A place I would highly recommend.

Niki V.

Yelp
Loved the simplicity and consistency in the taste from Chaat house over the years. Visited this place after a very long time for bhel thali and cholle bhature, the food was low oil and tasty. Will definitely visit again.

Sankit G.

Yelp
This is a very casual place. Other than the food which is served on table, there is no other table service. You get your silverware, water, menu, place order, even get to-go boxes. There are many people working in the kitchen which really accelerates the service and food delivery time. I ordered Gobi paratha, Aloo onion paratha, hara bhara paratha and usal pav. Everything was delivered within 10 minutes even though the place was full. The paratha size is huge, one paratha is quite enough for one person with normal meal. We were 2, hence we had to to go one entire paratha. Made fresh and the Punjabi fee you get when you eat it, truly reminds you of homemade parathas. Parathas were served with side of Raita and Pickle, hence you don't have to order anything else on side. Surely going to try more things from this place.

Rayna D.

Yelp
Weekly go to place. We always get the vegetable combo and rotis (Palak paneer and Bhindi). We love their parathas (mooli, aalo and hara bhara) They serve excellent chaat as well. Sev puri, dahi batata puri and ragda pattice are our favorite. Highly recommend this place

Jia T.

Yelp
This is my go to place If I don't feel like cooking, food is amazing, specially bhel Thali and the staff working there are very good at their job . Don't be surprised to see me regular

Crista N.

Yelp
Best spot in the area! My go to order is Aloo Paratha, Karai Paneer and Roti. Always hits the spot especially with friendly staff.

Fernando G.

Yelp
Huge fan of Chaat House! It's my go-to spot whenever i'm in the area. My favorite is the chana bhatura. Their service is great and the food is ever better

Kat E.

Yelp
The guy at the counter doesn't speak or understand much English as he didn't get my order right. I ordered an appetizer & an entree, but I only got my entree. I wasn't charged for the appetizer thankfully. Anyways, I ordered the saag paneer which comes with your choice of rice or naan. I asked for mint sauce but didn't get much of it. The portion was generous, but the food was just OK. It was kind of bland without the mint sauce. They bring your food to the table when it's ready. It took about 5 minutes for it to come out. The place is clean, but the bathroom could use a little more cleaning. It wasn't filfthy, just not as clean as it should be. There are lots of Indian places in Sunnyvale, so I won't be coming back there.

Shalini M.

Yelp
Dinner at Chaat House was the result of me looking for anything remotely close to halwa puri and home like food on Dussehra evening, and I was not disappointed at all! We ordered Ragda Patties, Chhole Bhature, and Spinach Puri-Aloo. Everything was amazing! You could tell that it's run by a family which explains the great food without the bells and whistles of a high end restaurant

Maya K.

Yelp
I love coming back to Chaat House, service is always great, food is even better. We ordered Aloo Paratha with Paneer Masala with Dahi Papdi Chaat.

Prasanth K.

Yelp
Had Karai Paneer with Roti and Aloo paratha. Roti were nice and soft. Aloo paratha was average. Karai Paneer was a bit too oily.

Siv T.

Yelp
The picture below is what they gave as pav bhaji. Basically stale, almost spoilt burger bun and some almost dry masala curry with not a tinge of any vegetables. I asked the young man at the counter about burger bun being given as pav. He didn't care. "You can talk to the manager" is what he said. I checked with the old gentleman who served the food and he just gave a blank stare. In addition to being terrible, the food is not cheap either. A homeless in street will get better food and attention. This place is an expensive way to feel like a homeless. Chat House is a disgrace. I have to give one star because Yelp does not have negative star option.

Santhosh K.

Yelp
Whatever you sell under misal pav's name, please stop selling it‍. Its not at all misal pav, please google and follow YFL's - Sanjot kheer's recipe. Pav vada is different from vada pav. Please correct the names. Chapati is really good.

Kristy P.

Yelp
Worlds best parathas and dahi puri for such reasonable prices. Friendly staff and clean ambiance. This is my goto place for parathas and chaat. Great quality of food and great taste!

Ravi L.

Yelp
Great food Good quality Very authentic and fresh items Simple home style snacks and vegetable entrees

Foodie B.

Yelp
I have been a regular to Chaat House for 10 years. Not sure why i took so long in the review. Why do i keep going back given the number of choices around: -Consistently in food quality -Hygiene-conscious: my go-to during pandemic -Price: Reasonably priced and well proportioned meals -Staff: Most friendly, hard-working staff, they make me feel welcome -Food quality: Best Snack combo ever! Thali : When none else comes to mind after a long day of work, thali is my default. Their Chole is one of the best we can get in Bay area, perfectly cooked not overdone not raw just right, not overly spiced. Wishing this gem of a restaurant much love for all the hard word they put in, and all the good business that Bay area has to offer.

Pooja M.

Yelp
Small portions and average food We ordered mix veg, malai kofta, vada pav, roti, Chana Bhatura and paratha. The quantity for vegetables was less than expected. Chana Bhatura : 3.5/5 Mix veg: 1/5 It was full of big pieces of potatoes and peas. Would not recommend to get this Malai Kofta: 3/5 gravy was good but Koftas were ok Roti and paratha 4.5/5 These were the only things I would recommend Vada pav 1/5 I don't think they understand the true Maharashtrian vada pav. It was filled with just potatoes, zero spices and garlic chutney was actually garlic paste Overall, I don't think I can recommend this restaurant.

Harika N.

Yelp
Parathas were fresh. Rajma and chole Bathure were good and decent. Will go back again.

Shaan S.

Yelp
Amazing service. Kind people. Delicious food. Reminds me of home! Highly recommend to anyone looking for good Indian food.

Subhash P.

Yelp
We visited Chaat House on March 12th with family. The food was not bad . ambience is poor . Furniture /sitting arrangements was poor/not cleaned properly. They have installed two Statues of Hindu Goddesses Lord Shiva and Parvati . Both statues were full of dirt . I give one star . Subhash

Lizelle P.

Yelp
Came in here for a masala chai. This was delivered so quickly before we even finished paying the bill! The chai was delicious and perfectly made. The cashier was pleasant.

IMexplorer E.

Yelp
Best Parathas in the south bay! Good value for money

Karthik S.

Yelp
Excellent curries and roti is really good. Saag paneer, malai kofta and parathas are all excellent. Good for both dining and pickup . Definitely recommend

Dhaval M.

Yelp
This is one of the good places if you'd like to have some simple food. Their paratha's are very tasty and the portion size is large. I like aloo and paneer paratha personally, their chai is good too. Not great with the ambience but it's clean and service is fast for a quick bite.

Swati T.

Yelp
Our go to place anytime! It's not overly crowded like Chaat Bhavan plus food is more fresh here. They don't add artificial coloring I think in the food and their food tastes like homemade North Indian food. Definitely try their thali with complimentary Chhaas. This thali is just perfect for one/two persons and there's no wastage. The best part of this place is hot rotis you can ask them to give butter rotis.

Andres D.

Yelp
How about a bit of mystery? Tired of the same old menu that makes complete sense you. Want a lucky dip. Well feast your eyes on this authentic Indian cuisine. Come with hunger, struggle to communicate with the staff and point at the first combo you see and you may just have a pleasant surprise. Not for carnivores. This is vegetarian food only, their 'mild' is spicy and you receive a platter of 6-8 different Indian tapas style dishes to eat with your hands. Bon Apetite
