I have been a patron of chachos for nearly two decades having been a customer since their original location in downtown San Jose. Chicken tortilla soup is second to none, best ever. Until last night I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wanted food Mexican food. However, due to my experience last night, I will NEVER be coming back. Issue 1: soda cup had a chocolatey looking scum on the top outside of the glass. Disgusting. Showed the bartender and was offered a new one. Accidents happen, whatever. Issue 2: my margarita was served to me with A SHARD OF GLASS IN IT, approximately the size of a grain of rice which I discovered after taking a sip and luckily catching it on my teeth. Glass shards in my drink, never experienced that before and never intend to again. Was refunded my money and left hungry. No apology, no attempt to make it right, just a silent refund on the credit card. Classy... Glad I didn't swallow that glass... Buyers beware

This place deserves these 5 starts! When we first arrived it wasn’t what I expected. I was expecting the traditional get seated by the hostess, order from the server, etc. but when you walk in you actually order at a cashier and then it’s open seating. On a busy Friday night the line was out of the door but once we got close to the cashier we were able to get a table luckily. We ordered and paid at the counter and sat near a large tv with sports on. This place was so busy so food took a bit but really not that long considering. Everything was AMAZING! Like seriously the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Literally everything about the food was perfect and our bar drinks were perfect too! I’d also like to acknowledge the manager who stopped by our table at the end of our meal to check in with us and help clear some dishes. We had a toddler who made the usual mess and as I was cleaning he said “that’s not your job. You came here to enjoy yourself. Not clean.” To me he made us feel so welcome. We will be back!!

So, first blush, they didn't know I was a local guide for Google Businesses. No photos yet, however, the staff were prompt & friendly, quick without making ya feel pushed along. BONUS: I am an applied anthropological researcher that uses the Arts to engage publically and gather data. I skew more towards the painter, musician, stand-up comedy improv, crafts, & ‘on-the street’, where humanity crosses it's roads, do I am 95% of the time, immediately treated as a malicious na’er do well, without housing, and on drugs. Fact is at 51, they are right about everything except the drugs, alcohol, and I own my home, but they are headed to Now & that is the point. The chimichunga was delicious! I am from West Texas, my 1st wife is a Ramos, do I know a burrito from trip as. The owners approached, blended in, kept the place lively, and they encouraged me to paint after my meal! I don’t get paid for reviews, so my integrity and consistency means something. STARS:1-avoid like politics 2-hey, I am an optimist, still heading to urgent care 3-avg/solid 4-a cut above the rest 5-if you are driving within 10 miles and u do not stop to experience my 5 stars, well, don’t bother reading the review. You will have FOMO for sure! The painting is just starting. Lets6see what I can get done by Superbowl!

Google
Fun looking spot. Took my daughter for her 21st bday, the food was okay. I had the garlic shrimp plate rice was good as well as the shrimp . Husband had the Carne asada tacos...lacked flavor, the Carne is not grilled, it's from a flat top so its missing flavor, the tomatillo salsa it came with tasted like water. The server we had good she was friendly and smiled, I just didn't get her name otherwise I would have gave her a proper shout out :) other than that this place is just okay.

Google
This place is the absolute worst. They had patrons serving their own tables! I asked a young lady for help and it turned out shebjust decided to take drinks to her table because they were being ignored. The staff was too preoccupied to care about anything else. If you want to get trashed, come here. If you want to eat and have a good time, avoid it.

This is my second time going to a Chachos. First time was in San Jose, wasn't impressed by the food, it is definitely not authentic Mexican food, it’s lacking the flavor and spice our food is known for, but we went for the drinks so I didn't much care. Went again today but to this location and still was not impressed. I got shrimp nachos and they were absolutely flavorless. Even adding salsa did nothing, the salsa was also lacking flavor. I got a mangolada, these are blended anywhere else I've gone but here they serve it over ice. My honey got the chicken flautas, these were actually decent but the rice and beans were like everything else, mediocre. We went with my boyfriend's family and his sister had to ask multiple times for her order of tacos. It wasn't until the 3rd or 4th time that they finally told her there was a few orders ahead of hers and it was going to be another 10 minutes. I'm not sure why it took multiple times to get that information. Be prepared to overpay for all of this mediocrity. The service was nothing impressive, the outdoor area we got wasn't covered so there was stuff from the trees falling into our food and drinks. Unless you are looking to spend $13-$15 on drinks, I would recommend going elsewhere for a bite.

Came here for dinner and was not disappointed! The food was amaaaazing. Honestly way better than I expected for a place I mostly consider a bar. The drinks were strong, too

Yelp
We are so sad to see Chacho's closed! We loved their Birria Tacos and the Chili Verde nachos were AMAZING!! I wish I had their recipes because now we'll crave these dishes :( I think it may have been the owner that was often there at the register and he was always friendly. We are sorry to see you go, Chacho's. We wish you well and miss you already.

Yelp
Visit this place for its cute courtyard and a quick afternoon or evening appetizer and margarita! The food was good for what it was. I may come again to try the nachos!

Yelp
Came here for our Gal-Entines event We were a party of 8 ladies It was everyone's first time here I called the week before asking if I needed to make reservations and explained I was going to be there for Sunday Brunch I was told reservations are not needed ***However reservations are needed if you want to secure a table outside and that part I was not advised of or offered over the phone So for the first half of our event we sat inside ....and eventually we found a table outside that was able to accommodate all of us Venue inside is nicely decorated There are several tables inside with a lot of seating available Sunday Brunch menu is a vibe and very affordable We all pitched in and got the $40 deals 18 tacos and 4 drinks Chilaquiles and 4 drinks Nachos and 4 drinks Food is not bad!! Tacos are the mini street tacos but the meat is tasty and tender !! The chilaquiles were good!! Nice and crispy and flavorful Only draw back is that the food took about ONE HOUR to come Staff did apologize for the food delay However that wait time is not cool Another draw back is the line to order ONE line ONE cashier ONE Bartender !!! Wait in line to order Wait in line for your drinks to be made Then wait an hour for your food to come There is security on site DJ was playing freestyle music Ladies bathroom is clean Outside patio area is kinda small and gets crowded But over all this place has a cool concept and can be great once staffing adjustments are made to better serve the customers We came We saw We ate And WE DRANKKK LOL On to the next

Yelp
Came for dinner on a week day. Service was great, the guy working was super friendly to everyone and it got busy. He was able to manage taking orders, bussing tables, and running food all on his own. They had a high chair available for our little one and a kids menu to choose from. High chair and table was not the cleanest, otherwise everything was great. Might try brunch next!

Yelp
The weekend go to spot for margaritas and Mexican candy shots! The guys working the bar are always so friendly, QUICK and hustling! We've had the tacos, Molcajeta and mini sopes and they are delicious and taste like they could have come out my grandmas kitchen! Mini sopes are my personal favorite! The ambiance is always fun and we love the fresh air the patio gets every night after a warm day. If we have a free weekend you can find us on the patio at Chacho's!

Yelp
I really enjoyed the atmosphere here at chacho's , I went here last Saturday for my birthday, yeah I treated myself b/c it's good to treat yourself, I got I 6" inch birria taco and a wicked(means two shots of fireball )hennchata , the birria was so good that i got 3 mini birria tacos and yup another wicked hennchata

Yelp
Well I really liked the food. Very flavorful and full of life. The green tacos with al pastor was my absolute favorite. The chorizo quesadilla was also very delicious. I would however, remove one star because of the wait time. This place gives out a very chill yet full of life kinda vibe. We had a wonderful time with friends. People that come here are very friendly. The beers and overall drinks were excellent too.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and was a little disappointed. We ate on the outside patio, at the bar, since it was as loud with the music playing, and the service was great. We received our food in a good amount of time but I wasn't too fond of the flavors. Not that it was bland just did seem to mix well. I will admit, I only got appetizers since I didn't want to get the usual Mexican food and was indecisive. The tortas had more bread than I would've liked. The pastor meat in the torta was the tastiest one. The el jefe appetizer platter was a normal all-around platter. The only item I really didn't care for was the chicken mole skewers. The mole wasn't that good to me. I have tried several moles throughout my little life and this one didn't do it for me. My husband enjoyed his pozole soup though. Maybe if we go there another time I will try a menu item that people get a lot of or really enjoy.

Yelp
Stopped by to have a drink and reminisce. We use to have a Chacho's in San Jose and made a lot of good memories there . This spot in Morgan Hill does not compare. When I walked in the cashier was on her phone and dressed inappropriately for work. Was not welcoming . She was showing off her stomach and wearing a crop top and leggings that had bleached stains on it . I got a HenChata and a modelo , it came out to $26. They use to add a shot of Hennessy with the HenChata but the cashier said it's extra. Wasn't like that in San Jo. But it did taste good . They had music playing and two tvs on. Great art work. Had some cute Christmas lights up. But definitely miss the art work at the San Jo location. Totally different vibe . Miss it for sure . I probably won't be coming back to this location. What ever happened to free chips and salsa? It's $7! Y'all crazy.

Yelp
Came her two separate times for drag events & each time & a great experience. The shows that are put on by the queens are awesome. They are Bay Area queens with extreme talent. There is one host who guides the show (super funny), then 3-4 additional other girls. All of them do 1-2 numbers each. There is lip syncing, dancing, kicks, etc. it's your job as the audience to eat, drink, be marry & Tip, Tip, Tip! $1-5 per girl, per song is acceptable. Chacho's has outstanding drinks! Super yummy & super strong. The food is also delicious however when the restaurant is at high volume, it will take a long time to come out. So they suggest getting there 1-5-2 hours before the show starts to eat (get there at 11:30a, If the show starts at 1/1:30pm). They now have Birria soft tacos that are to die for. Highly recommend. Service is great. Everyone is super kind, outgoing, & helpful. It had started to rain a bit the second I was there & the whole team troubleshooted with umbrellas. It was awesome. Prices for drag event are $25 per person & you get those on Eventbrite. I always bring $50 in cash for tips for this location, per person. Be aware- THEY DO NOT HAVE AN ATM! They do have someone to break your larger bills. Drink & food prices are pretty reasonable. I will absolutely be back for more drag events.

Yelp
The entire place was sticky ! The table , moving a chair over, it was stuck to the floor . The mole was decent - chicken was not very soft and the skin that was on it was cooked too long like it was bbq, very much irritated me - no white meat pieces . The churros took 30 minutes! Too much money for the experience

Yelp
$1.50 taco Tuesday. Can't go wrong with that. Pastor was pretty solid. Salsa kicked up the heat.

Yelp
Nice spot to enjoy a beer and some tacos. Looking forward to watching some niners games here once the season officially kicks off.

Yelp
I went for my birthday and the food was mediocre. But when I tell you the service was horrible, it was BEYOND HORRIBLE. EVERYONE that worked there had an attitude problem. The person taking our order at the register was on his phone texting his friends while we were standing there waiting for him to be done. It took us 2 hours just to get 4 cups of water to our table. I DO NOT recommend going here unless you're willing to wait hours just for mediocre service
google avatar

Yelp
So far every time I've been here I've had a good experience. The first time I came, they weren't quite open all the way yet. But they let me and my friend come in and have a Mexican hot chocolate. It was absolutely amazing and the service was stellar. The second time I came, I had some nachos after having several drinks at the downtown outdoor concert. The nachos were delicious. And although the restaurant was very crowded that night, still great service. Today, I stopped by to get a street taco from their outdoor stand. The meat was fresh and delicious. You were able to dress up your taco on your own with as much salsa and cilantro that you like. The spicy salsa was very spicy to my liking. I will keep coming back over and over again. Please keep up the great service

Yelp
Drinks and nachos at Chacho's, but only because it was conveniently located. Nothing sticks out about this place even for a nachos lover like myself.
google avatar

Yelp
There was a dead spider in my food. I was a couple of bites in when I spotted it on top. Very off-putting experience and makes me question the overall cleanliness. They remade my dish after I pointed it out, but I was no longer in the mood to eat. The service was very slow and there was also a chemical smell in the restaurant which was not very appetizing.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
No bueno!! The music is way too loud! You can hardly hear anyone speak. Their business model is weird. They don't have servers that come take your order. You order at the counter and get a number and they bring it out to you. If you want another beverage or a refill on your water you have to go back up to the counter. Food was just ok. Very bland.

Ian A.

Yelp
Me and my friend were really thirsty it was 81° and we really needed some water and the guy at the counter gave us some free water and i think he put lemon in it or something but it tasted really refreshing and cooled us down and we the atmosphere was great and overall the food looks very delicious i will for sure order next time if i come.

Yelp
Chacho's was originally in Downtown San José but burnt down. Chacho's was moved to Morgan Hill and is located in the building that was Huntington's. The location is great, not too far off the main road, it has a generous, outdoor patio area with tons of seating. The inside is rather small the bar seats 5-6 people and the dining room holds about 30-40. The menu hasn't changed still the same food and drinks, which is great. I sat at the bar like I usually would. The vibe doesn't feel the same. It feels like disorganized chaos. There weren't that many customers so it should run smoothly. As I am sitting at the bar, I'm noticing all these little fruit flies. I honestly wouldn't order any drink unless it was a beer from a can or bottle. Thank God they had Michelob Ultra in the can. I thought of ordering the flautas or chile verde, but my gut instinct said not to. I really wanted to love this one like the original, but it just doesn't compare. It just seems like a wannabe.
google avatar

Ignacio R.

Yelp
This place is terrible!!! Avoid it at all costs! We were waiting for over an hour, and they told us to stop asking that there were a lot of customers. It got so bad the table next to us had one of the patrons serving their own table. I strongly recommend you go elsewhere.
google avatar

Evangelene G.

Yelp
We just came here for beverages and service was good/friendly and we were able to find a seat int he patio. We didn't have food so unfortunately I can't provide an honest review, but I would definitely venture back here again.

Yelp
Best Albondigas I live in San Jose but it is absolutely worth the drive. Their Cocido was my Favorite

Robert M.

Yelp
Customer service is amazing and so is the atmosphere! The food however isn't the best. Ordered a shrimp burrito and the size and look was great, the flavor however wasn't. Definitely willing to give it another try!

Yelp
You take a picture on a lawn you want to see every blade of grass, so i've been told. #clickclick a delicious meal at Chachos. A great time. Fun moments with family and friends. A great DJ and you betcha. Authentic Mexican Cuisine. The drinks were delicious. Scrumptious and they serve Pizza! Sign of the times that you get Pizza and Tacos! It's a live food truck here with seats and music and fun. It's unreal the service as well. People joked. Told stories and none of it was weird. It's a fun place. They had 2 DJ's there spinning oldies and dance music. There's no dance floor there but talk about entertainment. It was a packed house, but everyone had seated, or standing at the bar to get drinks. and it was a vibe. You'll get a number at the order cashier area and take that to your seat. You do get served here and fast. By the time we got our drinks it was 5 to 8 minutes later food. And it was delicious. I ate up everything but the plate. It's casual here. Most people were dressed for a Sunday dinner, but it was casual. No suit and ties here. The Art, Deco, were modern affairs, with pictures all on the walls of traditional Aztec and Inca heritage, dia de los muertos Paintings, and Cheech and Chong! This place spills of California Heritage and the Wild West Mexican. Enjoy this place. I sure did. This place is family friendly. Kids were inside eating and families. They even spilled outside for the music. Morgan Hill you surprised me yet again. Ohh yeah. The Bombers were cruising outside with the horns and stuff. Talk about a great visual and
google avatar

Shequira A.

Yelp
The gentleman at the register was very unwelcoming. On his phone, wouldn't look up to take our order. However, the drinks were pretty good. The food was ok.

Diana C.

Yelp
Poor service. Even for ordering fountain drinks we needed to wait at the register for like 5 mins before anyone came out and asked what we needed. And the worst part is , the fountain drinks were gross a long with the "agua de piña". Idk about the food though , we didn't give it a chance cause we dipped after tasting the drinks.
google avatar

Frank M.

Yelp
How do you even call this a burrito? This is a 13 dollar "Carne Asada Super Burrito". I got this floppy wet mess with no rice. After charging $2 dollars extra for no rice. Sorry for ordering your 13 dollar super burrito. Thought you where a real restaurant for a second, not Taco Bell. Aye dios mio. Que tragedia desperdiciar comida como esta! y cobro y 2 dólares extra por arroz! ¿no tienes vergüenza? solo quema tu dinero en lugar de comer aquí.

Mary G.

Yelp
I love the food and drinks at Chacho's. The service is fast and friendly. Best Mexican restaurant in Morgan Hill.
google avatar

Momo L.

Yelp
The drinks must be really good at this place or maybe we just ordered the worst items on the menu... We ordered guacamole that had no taste and brown rotten bits throughout (see photo). Then when our fiesta salad came, the chicken was so dry, it felt like we were chewing on tree bark - should be called a siesta salad instead. We were very disappointed by the food, but the music was good, so 2 stars for that.

Yelp
Half assed cooking! Just ordered 5 carintas 5 pastor tacos from chachos on doordash they were HORRIBLE!!!!!! I can't believe it tbh. A place as popular as chachos tasting the way it did saddens me. Pastor isn't real pastor from the spinny skewer, it's that gross pastor Noone likes from the pot. And it was dry as fk!!!!!! Tortillas were dry as well, salsas all sucked. Carnitas was dry aswell Meat that crumbles in your mouth is gross. Stop serving people trash food. Bottom line is this meat had to be cooked days ago an reheated multiple times. Tastes like complete sht. It's not hard to make food taste good.... TRY IT BEFORE YOU SERVE IT AND MAKE IT FRESH!!!!!!!!! I CANT BELIEVE THIS IS WHAT YALL ARE SERIOSLY SERVING TO PEOPLE ON A SATURDAY NIGHT ESPECIALLY!!!!!!
google avatar

Hung L.

Yelp
Expensive AF Drinks on par with Vegas. Most more expensive than most places on santana row. Stop exploiting people chachos. I'll bet they won't last 12 more months given their greed.
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
Tried this Mexican food place today I had flautas that were good. Little over cooked. But here's the deal , If your husband like a meaty burrito this isn't the place for you. It was huge full of rice and bean .... Could barely see the minced carne asada .....

Irene T.

Yelp
I'm still waiting on a call from the owners from this place. There was a roach crawling next to my moms food which she didn't eat because we were just grossed out. We didn't make a scene. I politely asked to speak with the manager. The bartender came over and killed the roach like it was something she's done before. I then asked another woman to speak the the owner or manager she said she was the supervisor took my name and phone number & said they would call me. They haven't called didn't offer to refund us our bill , basically killed the roach and said Oh! Well. My family and I were really looking forward to a nice dinner here , unfortunately we won't be back. Good luck y'all Negative-stars.
google avatar

Lily A.

Yelp
I was here today and stepped in dog poop from a dog that I believe belongs to an employee. It totally killed my vibe. I would have left if I hadn't been celebrating a friend's birthday. I love dogs but please take time to walk around and pick up after your dog before seating your customers. It's bad business when you have customers walking around steeping in poop and then walking around spreading it all over your restaurant.

Autumn B.

Yelp
It is rare that I take the time to write a review, but the horrendous service we received at Chacho's was inexcusable. We were there on a Wednesday early evening. There were only 4 other tables in use. The older man taking orders and drinks was rude from the beginning, but progressively got worse. I've worked in many restaurants so I tend to be lenient on service, but slamming our plates on the table, ignoring any eye contact as to not be bothered with anything requests, but the icing on the cake was when I went to the bar to ask for a water refill. Wrong thing to do! He slammed a pitcher on the counter as to do it myself . Let's just say we won't be back. Food was mediocre and service, well that's not a word they know there. ‍

Yelp
Chacho's Restaurant was on my bucket list for places to try in Morgan Hill. I have been wanting to come here for a while and I finally made it. Came in for breakfast around 1:00pm. I know, I know, it was a late breakfast. We entered and the place was pretty much empty only one other table had customers. I was disappointed that we walked into a business and we were not greeted so we sat down at a table of our choosing and waited for our server. Sat for about 10 minutes and we were a bit confused because employees where going about their work and not one came over to take our order. As I looked around at the decor of the place I noticed the sign that said "order here" OMG thanks for heads up guys. So walked over ordered our food and waited. As more customers came in they were welcomed/greeted by a good looking guero that was friendly and helpful. He greeted customers as they came in and asked some if they had been here before or if it was their first time here. Where was he when I got there. I guess he was just starting his shift. lol Hopefully the food is better than the service. Ordered the chilaquilles with red sauce. They came with fried beans and country potatoes. Chilaquilles had a very well seasoned red sauce that gave them a really good flavor, however, where were the eggs??? They were more like nachos with a red sauce. The beans were basic with cheese on top. The country potatoes were the star of my meal. They consisted of potatoes of course, onions, bell peppers green & red, and to my surprise zucchini & carrots. Loved the carrots with a bit of a char on the ends. Coffee was very good and a great finish to my meal. This was NOT the experience I wanted for a place I was really looking forward to dining at, however, I'm willing to try them again. Hopefully they can redeem themselves and give me a better experience. 2 stars one for food and one for el guero ‍

Greer R.

Yelp
Good food, fun vibe, friendly staff, and cool art. Unfortunately, not air-conditioned.

Nora Alba A.

Yelp
Came here for the first time, I ordered a changita, the bar tender inside, Javier was EXTREMELY rude. I told him my drink tasted like just like the jumex mango juice and not so much like champagne, his answer was "well did you not read the menu" he was so rude. Shout out to the gal, who said, "it's her first time" NEVER coming here again. Sat outside for over 45 min, before being told I had to go inside to order my food. RUDE A*%# service!

Paul J.

Yelp
Great bar area outside. And probably the best and friendliest bartenders I have ever encountered in the Southbay. I'll definitely be back Food is fire

Yelp
My husband and I stop here for lunch since we hadn't seen the place before, we are big fans of Guapo's in Campbell since we live near. We almost didn't come by since I saw it only had 3 stars but after reading some of the reviews I decide to give it a shot and I was very happy I did! Their food is delicious!! Hands down one of the best albóndiga soups I've ever had! Yes is not on the most economical side but you get what you paid for! We had 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and 2 cocktails and our bill was $104, I thought it was pretty normal. Will definitely be back, and bonus they have one of the most spicy sauce in the area!
google avatar

Jeanette P.

Yelp
Mario was amazing! Great bartender and sense of humor. Our michiladas were delicious! Thank you
google avatar

Samantha C.

Yelp
Very strange vibe at this restaurant. Wait staff didn't acknowledge us at all. It is a restaurant that is treated more as a "order at the bar and serve yourself" type of place. Food was okay, nothing to write home about and pretty pricey. We won't be going back
google avatar

Brittany H.

Yelp
Great outdoor bar with fun drinks. Pretty lively on a Friday night. Churros were hot and fresh! Definitely a must try if you're craving something sweet.
google avatar

Yelp
First and last time coming to this place. $ 43.53 for two burritos. I'm surprised they didn't up-charge to put the burrito on the plate and give you a fork. I wish I could give no stars.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
not sure what is going on but most of the employees are currently inebriated or on drugs.Ordered carry out carne asada burrito and got home and found week old corned beef in the burrito instead.asked for resolution and got home with 2nd burrito has same week old corned beef instead of the carne asada.

Yelp
My friend is going through a tough time right now. His favorite taqueria is currently under construction. This taqueria was a huge support system, it's where he would get his comfort food. Not having this support system just makes tough times even tougher. It's kind of how I felt when the Office left Netflix. It helped me cope with so many tough times. Sometimes I wish I could watch the Office on Netflix to help me deal with it not being on Netflix anymore. Anyways, I tried to comfort my friend as much as possible, but nobody can comfort you like your favorite comfort food can. I ended up suggesting we try a new taqueria to get his mind off the old one. We decided to go to Chacho's. We really enjoyed the food, but my friend seemed to still be thinking about the old taqueria. At least he knows there are more fish in the sea...I guess more taquerias on the land.

Yelp
I was craving a Hennchata but with this pandemic rules you are required to order food if you want to order a Alcholic Beverage. The Hennchata was okay, but I feel that it horchata was missing flavor & seemed to be a bit watered down. I hope next time I visit Chacho's & order actual food, I can change my review. As for the Churro; not worth the try as you can see in the image.

Yelp
Food was 1 out of 10 and service was .5 out of 10...trash never coming back. Walked in and never greeted. Server didn't care.
