"This tiny taqueria is the ultimate takeout spot. Grab a torta or a tamale and wander down to the water for an easy picnic. The chorizo tacos, topped with pineapple and crunchy jicama, are a favorite, and pulled jackfruit in an amarillo mole make for a great vegetarian option." - Justine Jones, Alex Lodner

Forget Tuesday…eat tacos everyday. Stop in and enjoy a bit to eat. The food is DE-LISH-OUS. Order outside and enjoy your food at the tables and chairs inside.

The food and service was fantastic! My son and I ordered two Birrias, beans and rice, and a drink which came out to $20. The food was full of flavor and made fresh to order.

Google
Sooo goood we had to come back for more ! The veggie taco was amazing and the Birria was super juicy and tender ! Magnificent 💯

This is some of the best authentic Mexican food you’re ever ever gonna have highly highly recommend their Cochnita bowl Do you not go to any of the other Mexican restaurants here in town you will not get anything as tasty as here the flavors absolutely amazing

This place was super awesome ! Friendly staff and the food was fresh and DELICIOUS. We got 2 birria tacos and a torta and split it between 2 people so our meal was only $24 ! We’re in Duluth during grandmas marathon weekend so we were worried about parking hut there is lots of accessible parking nearby. Affordable prices in an area where that is hard to find !! Do yourself a favor and check this place out !!

To have people as dedicated to tacos in life as me and my family is such a gift. To have them within walking distance of our home is a luxury — a dangerous one. My husband, son, and I stopped by last night to experience the new indoor spot. I am so excited to have this option and we are looking forward to many family dinners here in the coming months. The vibrant colors, music, and layout of the space were spot on and gave us energy at the end of a gray, cloudy Duluth day. The addition of the new veggie taco is greatly appreciated. I lean vegan, and leveraging mushrooms in tacos is one of my favorite uses for them. I loved the addition of the cauliflower, and the raisins were a nice twist. Maybe next up in menu development could be a carnitas mushroom taco perhaps? My family devoured their birria, chorizo, and carnitas tacos, just like they always do when we visit Chachos. Spot on, and always a pleasure to eat these tacos. Chachos team — keep going. Duluth needs you, we need you, and your tacos give us energy.

Google
Best tacos I've found so far in Duluth. Elote leaves a little more to be desired, little on the sweet side. But the tacos are as good as you can get around this area. I hope they expand their menu in the future, this place is a little gem.

Google
Food was great! Small taquaria with a few outdoor seats. I was pumped for the birria but the chorizo was the sleeper choice for vest taco. The tamale was decent, but not a traditional style. I'll definetly go back!

Yelp
If your'e around the canal area and want a good, quick taco this place is for you. The menu isn't that extensive as most taco places, but it seems like they have the right selection of offerings and more importantly, they do them well. Got the Birria Taco, great flavor. Wish the cheese was a little more melted so the taco stayed together more when you dip it. Usually Birria is done on a flattop and melted together into one gooey taco so you can easily dip it. Here they put together the components like a normal taco. Small Nit Pick, but maybe something to think about for the future. Chorizo was good. Got the Bandito and Cascabel salsa and they were both on point, definitely worth getting to add. They have a great outside sitting area and a nice indoor sitting area for either option.

Yelp
This is a unique place where you order at an outdoor window, then take your food inside to eat. You can also eat outside, take food to go, and there's a brewery close by that you can walk to and bring your tacos. The tacos are great! The chorizo and Burria were our favorites. Beans and rice were tasty and the corn was good. I love how the flour tortillas are toasted. There were a variety of salsas (but no chips). No free water - you have to buy a bottle. You've got to pay for parking outside. Walking distance to the lift Bridge. If you are craving tacos, check this place out!

Yelp
Love this place, especially with the addition of seating options! I've been here several times. I love the birria tacos and LOVED the tamales that they don't serve anymore but I want to make a pitch to the universe that they bring them back! Service is always great! Haven't taken time to sit in the new seating area inside because I love the outside atmosphere but it looks fantastic!

Marla K.

Yelp
Wow. These are the best birria tacos I've ever eaten in my life. I think the cheese and the grilling of the tortilla really makes a difference. Cheese is burrata I think? Anyway they are to die for. I did not care for the veggie taco. There were big chunks in there and it was not good or flavorful. Also weird that they didn't have chips and salsa... But go there for the birria tacos. You will not be disapointed. A note about seating: There was no indoor seating when we went (Oct 2023) - they had an outdoor table that had a covering. It was pouring rain. They offered up the brewhall to us and said we could eat in there with outside food but it wasn't very visible in the pouring rain. Hopefully they open up the space inside for customers.

Cam M.

Yelp
These tacos are delicious! They are different than other tacos in the area and have a unique flavor. I wish the hours were a bit longer (have a hard time getting there before close on days I work) and that for the price we pay we'd get more food. I don't really leave feeling satisfied / full like I do when I go to other restaurants at a similar price point.

Rebeka J.

Yelp
What a wonderful addition to Canal Park! We tried a few different things from the menu and everything tasted fresh and so flavorful! Additionally the prices were pretty darn good for the area. Highly Recommend!

Adam G.

Yelp
Refused to provide drinking water to paying patrons including infant child, was informed the infant child would need to buy their own water.

Tara S.

Yelp
If you're looking for true Mexican food, this is pretty bland. Want something more mellow in flavor it may suit you better. Nice staff and clean establishment. Just not there in the quality scale in my opinion.

Jen K.

Yelp
We read about this place on Yelp and am glad we went. The food was authentic and the service top notch. Though they were sold out of several items on their menu, they made up for it in supplying us a sampling of a couple other items on their menu. They said they had a very busy weekend. We tried the chorizo tacos, tamales, and Esquite (corn salad). All were Amazing! This is a walk up taco shop. Seating is outdoors. We look forward to returning when we can try their carnita and beef tacos.

Andrea S.

Yelp
Stopped here after a couple breweries to grab tacos and such. The food came quickly and was authentic, delicious, and fresh. I loved the consommé taco and the tamale was so fresh!

Johannah S.

Yelp
10 stars! It's hard to find authentic tacos in Minnesota, I'm so glad to have this spot in Duluth to visit. The birria tacos were to die for. Omg and the corn...! So much flavor. I went with the spiciest sauce and it was Smokey and flavorful without the spice taking over. I can't wait to be in town and go there again! It's a perfect place to stop by when walking around canal park.

Heather G.

Yelp
Love this place. Everything here has FLAVOR! Birria tacos are a favorite. There is flavor in everything, not just the salsa, like so many other places. This is a favorite of ours in the summer. I'm glad they have indoor seating now with counter service. The outdoor seating area is great, though the last time we were there, we missed the outdoor tables they used to have near the sidewalk. Standing and eating a birria taco can be messy business if you're not 5 ft tall.

Allie ..

Yelp
INCREDIBLE Food- tried the tacos, bowls, and sides- all were so flavorful and fresh!! This is a must-have stop for Duluth visitors. Prices are more than fair. The Bandito salsa is amazing and everything is homemade onsite. Wow- kudos to this crew for bringing a much needed "taco stop" to Canal Park!

Olive K.

Yelp
Friendly/fast service with indoor/outdoor seating. Had the Chicken mole bowl and the esquites. From Texas and the food was great and had great flavor! Would highly recommend for anyone trying to satisfy their Mexican cravings!

Kevin A.

Yelp
So overpriced! Who is going to pay 5 dollars per taco for something that costs maybe a dollar to make. Outrageous pricing. Not worth the money at all. Please don't buy from here. I've had a lot of things on the menu before the prices rose and it isn't worth the money.

Puneet M.

Yelp
Birria tacos and Cochinota tacos. Esquite. Very good flavors, meat isn't as tender as it could/should be.

T M.

Yelp
Wow. Stopped by to get some beef tacos and was blown away by the unique flavors. Next level for sure. Can't wait to go back. They have indoor dining now right next door to the Taqueria which is a nice addition.

Gabriel S.

Yelp
Amazing Tamale's my wife and I stopped by on both days of our trip. The hand made flavor is amazing and has a real zest and bite. The owners are very nice and will tell you all about how they started the business and what is behind the food. Try both of the heat levels on your tamale's you will love them. Can't wait to go back!!!

Stacy L.

Yelp
Incredible! Love the flavors, value, style, friendly staff. Good combination of traditional and creative. This place is a true gem.

Yelp
There is something extra special when food is made by people who really love what they do. That is what you will find at Chachos. The owners and staff are kind, the patio is a great space to exist in, and the food is amazing. This is an authentic Mexican taqueria with a few (delicious) interpretations like their popular Bandito Salsa. Almost everything is corn-based, and they are super accommodating to food allergies or dietary restrictions (including dairy, gluten, and soy). This is one of those places where food is more than just a meal, where it gets to be all the things it should be -- exciting, joyful, nourishing, and with community. These pieces that are at the heart of Mexican cuisine are so often missed when we eat, and it is extra special when we get to experience or be reminded of it. Thank you Chachos!

Yelp
$7 for a tamale??? Is that a typo. In my neighborhood the highest I've seen is $3.5. I ain't even need to go here. Make your own tamales at home. I would study south Minneapolis if I were y'all. It's not like this is a high end restaurant. It's a shack. $14 for 2 tamales... ya I'm sure the demand of that is on the floor as we speak. If I win the lottery maybe I'll go. But for now, I'm jus tryna get me a somewhat affordable taco. To any of all who are inventive and want to open a joint, Duluth is the perfect spot. Not to many good restaurants up here so you could easily succeed if you PLAY YOUR CARDS RIGHT. If you down in Mpls go to Quatro milpas or taco taxi. High quality food for a reasonable price.

Yelp
I walked by Chachos Taqueria a few times and thought nothing of it as it's a small little restaurant with no indoor seating (they just have a walk up window. And outdoor tables) I finally decided to stop and grab a late lunch to take back to my hotel room which was right across the street and I'm so glad I did! It was the most amazing Mexican food I've had in a very long time. I will definitely be back. Highly recommend the Tamales with braised pork, the Cochinita taco (braised pork, pickled red onions and cilantro) and the Esquite (roasted corn salad). It was all delicious.

Sara R.

Yelp
We tried several items on the menu. I would say it was okay but definitely not the best tacos we've had. The kid's quesadilla was pretty bland. Not a fan of their tortillas.

Luke P.

Yelp
Almost don't wanna say how good this place is. I had the 3 street tacos and they were amazing and got up for seconds and got the Torta (I was hungry ok?!). The Torta is top 5 things to eat in Duluth imo. I'm mad we didn't eat here till now. I'm sure this place will be crazy busy in the summer so plan accordingly (go when it's raining or snowing).

Matthew F.

Yelp
This place is newer but a new must. The tacos are good, but for me, the tamales are off the chain. It was slightly unique where the tamale was just the masa cooked in the husk, but then they open it up and top it with delicious toppings. And don't forget to at the braised pork. I'll be getting two my next visit. Can't wait to stop in again!!!!

Linda B.

Yelp
Good for a light bite or if you're hungry. Walk up to the window and order, wait, pick up and eat. Can't speak to the authenticity of the food but it was good. Nice to have a fast food restaurant in Canal Park. They could use more seating with just a few tables and a large stand up shared table.

Riley R.

Yelp
In a town where real tacos have gone missing.....one taqueria pops up to save the taco from extinction. Chachos has come to save us all.... See Chachos Taqueria live in Canal park today. Jokes aside, Chachos is such a breath of fresh air from all the extremely Tex-Mex food around here. They are so good I literally just made a Yelp account just now to review it. I'm in love with the simplicity of the menu, the complexity of the tastes and flavors. The homemade tortillas are crispy and warm, yet somehow soft and tender at the same time. The birria is oh so savory, juicy tender beef that makes your mouth water from the first smell to the last bite. The whole vibe is Southern California. From the beautiful patio out front to the taco truck-esque window ordering process. It feels and is authentic Mexican street food all the way from the window to your stomach.

Samantha D.

Yelp
Always does AMAZING tacos! Most definitely worth the stop if you're in Duluth! Staff is also incredibly friendly! My favorite item so far is their birria tacos and it's incredible how much meat is on each taco!

Jasmine B.

Yelp
I was skeptical of this place at first because usually places that have "authentic Mexican food" are not as good as the real thing. This place was the best tamale I have ever had my entire time I have been living in Duluth. The beans and rice was also very delicious. The workers there were also incredibly friendly and I really enjoyed the experience that I had here. I highly recommend eating here.

J V.

Yelp
Amazing food. It was late in the day so we got the last tamale. Ordered a bowl for a substitute. They were both great. Beef tacos and beans/rice also a hit. Will be back...maybe tomorrow.

Pedro S.

Yelp
Food is blah, looks like it has potential but fails miserably. Staff is friendly and helpful. Tamales are literally a joke, you wont laugh. Over priced and lack of flavor, dont fall for the half filled ramkin of pico for a dollar. I like little places like them and love supporting them, price isnt a concern. Go to taco bell and you will be much happier, sorry taqueria but i wont be back.
