Was absolutely wonderful! I love Chado tea room and out of the three locations I've been to, this definitely has the best atmosphere for a tea service. It's absolutely beautiful inside and everyone was so friendly! I also loved the selection of tea, we got to try some new ones and the champagne tea will forever be my favorite! Also the food was delicious, I highly recommend the celebration tea package, even if you're not celebrating. The soup is delicious and is worth it for the chocolates and champagne tea!

Friendly and attentive service, reasonable prices, and large selection of teas. Brought my elderly mother for her birthday. My mother enjoyed it and she was given a special ice cream treat with a candle and Happy Birthday written in chocolate. That was a great touch. The sandwiches and scones were edible but could be improved. The scone was really dry. Tomato soup and salad were good. Overall a good experience.

An exceptional experience! I hadn’t been to this location for over a decade and it was such an enchanting afternoon. Make sure to get reservations on a weekend, and my best friend and I did the birthday tea, there were so much amazing food and such great service. I can’t wait to go back!

I made a reservation for late afternoon on a Sunday. Unlike other tea houses, where we often have to make reservations weeks in advance and may not be guaranteed a good spot or seating, I was able to secure a reservation just a few days before our arrival. It had been about 13 years since my last visit, and the experience only got better. From the greeter to the waitstaff, we received fast and accurate service. The greeter and waiters primarily spoke Spanish, and one of our guests was able to communicate with them proficiently in their language. The food, tea, and pastries remained as fresh, delicious, and full of flavor as I remembered from my last visit to this and other locations. Their prices are also extremely affordable; compared to tea at a hotel, their prices are about 30% less, but the food is just as good. Right before we left, the servers offered to take photos for us, which was a rare treat since they had already closed the tea room and we were the last guests. You can tell the tea room is nicely decorated, providing a warm and cozy atmosphere perfect for any event, such as a birthday, bridal shower, or any occasion. I highly recommend this and all locations of CHADO TEA ROOM for anyone looking for good food and service at an affordable price in a cozy and homey environment.

We came here for the afternoon tea set, it was really lovely! I enjoyed the gyokuro tea that I chose, and the scones were warm and delicious, baked british style so more crumbly than american ones! Good sandwiches and macarons, and the service was great! Very attentive, friendly, nice tea sets, and a large assortment of teas to choose from! The atmosphere was very relaxing too! I would definitely come back again!

Google
We came here while visiting from Phoenix. It's was an absolutely lovely experience. I will say that they don't have the best "service" in that they may be understaffed, so you don't get a lot of attention. However, they have excellent service when they do come by. We were somewhat difficult as all four of us had the afternoon tea, and we all made changes to what we ordered. There was some mix up on the sandwiches and it was addressed very quickly. One of our group also can't have gluten, and she said that the bread for the sandwiches were amazing. They also made very nice accommodations to her tea service that made her experience enjoyable as well. The food was phenomenal. We all enjoyed everything. I'm a huge strawberry addict and these may have been the best strawberries I've had. They were quite popular with the table. The scone was also ridiculously good with the jam and cream on it. I literally went to heaven. I would absolutely recommend this place, but make sure you have maybe 2 hours to spare. Also, they were doing a birthday celebration event. It was not my birthday but it's in a month and as a joke, the server did bring me something for my birthday and it was really fun for all of us.

My sisters and I brought our mom here for her birthday last week, and we had a great time. The selection of teas was fantastic, and the service was phenomenal. I plan on coming here on my own to just treat myself and wind down. 10/10

Came here with friends for high tea before seeing the lights at the LA Zoo. So much delicious tea and goodies. Finger sandwiches, scones, desserts and lots of flavorful tea. Christmas tea and mango flower tea were delicious. Great service

Yelp
Went here for my friend's graduation and they were absolutely amazing! The service is incredible, and the food was really really good. The ambience is super cute & the little tea decor makes the experience!

Yelp

Yelp
My sister and I went on a tea date for our birthdays (our birthdays are a day apart). We made reservations at 11am, but we probably could have walked in, because we had the place to ourselves. Our server, Sam went above and beyond to make us feel special on our birthdays. They do have a tea experience for birthdays (I believe it was $49 a person), but my sister and I opted to share the Chado Afternoon Tea experience, which was $28.95 a person plus a $6.95 charge per person sharing the tea experience. We got the birthday tea and Sam gave us complimentary wine inspired tea in champagne flutes. It was so good. If you eat before you come and are just wanting to taste what they have to offer, sharing the Chado Afternoon Tea is an affordable option. I wouldn't recommend sharing if you come hungry because you'd probably leave feeling hungry still. Before leaving, Sam surprised us with birthday sundaes and it was the sweetest gesture. We loved all the little things he did to make our birthday experience a memorable one. I'd definitely come back for another sister date in the future.

Yelp
My friend brought me here as a little birthday treat and I've always wanted to try afternoon tea. We had a noon reservation. The inside was busy but there is an outside seating area and the server let us pick any seat. It was also decorated. We chose the Celebration Afternoon Tea Service set. It was $36.95/per person. The difference between this set and the cheaper set is the glass of wine inspired ice tea, tea infused chocolates, and your choice between a soup of salad. You also get to choose what kind of tea you want for your pot of tea. The glass of wine and tea infused chocolates came out first. It was 3 chocolates per person. The tea was okay. Tasted like a normal tea and came out in a champagne glass. For the chocolates, there wasn't any kind of explanation of what each were. One was cherry flavored and another was a truffle though. It was paired with a strawberry cut in half and it was super fresh. We chose the soup and it was a cream of tomato soup. It was basic but good. It came with a small side of bread. The three tier rack came with 4 half sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, and a macaron and butter cookie. My ranking of the sandwiches would be the limerick (thinly sliced English cucumbers, cream cheese, green onions), smoked salmon, souchong chicken, and punjab (smoked tea marinated eggs, mayonnaise). The scones were nice and warm. Paired really well with the cream and jam. The macaron were two different flavors but again, no explanation. I didn't really care for the butter cookie. I chose the lychee tea and it was quite fruity. Definitely a nice place for any kind of celebration. I surprisingly got full even though everything looked small. The staff was definitely busy and forgot to bring us our pots of tea. Overall, it was a cute and fun experience.

Yelp
Recently held a baby shower here and it was the perfect venue for it! It looks like this location is used to hosting many events, showers, etc. There was actually a bridal shower going on right next to us but they were more in the front section and we were in the back, so neither party disturbed the other. The service was great and I was glad they were able to accommodate us with only a couple weeks notice. I also loved how it's already set up nicely inside with some decor so I didn't have to do much to decorate! We had a 2 hour window and they allowed some extra time to set up and clean up. With the pre-selected meal option we chose, everyone had a choice of a soup or salad appetizer which comes with a slice of bread, then our main course was the 3-tier tray that includes finger sandwiches, scones, and mini desserts. I was worried that the tiers may not be enough food for our group of 25, especially since they're just lighter bites vs an actual meal. But they had about 4 trays each at our 2 tables so it was plenty of food and we even got to take home leftovers! I will say some of the food I wasn't too impressed with, I thought the scone was dry and the finger sandwiches were underwhelming to be honest. But everyone really enjoyed the variety of teas that were served. There were so many options that were delightful. Maybe I would need to eat here for an actual meal one day, but as for hosting a large group or event, I would totally recommend Chado. I was also worried about parking since I had quite a few things to transport and with it being a weekend, you just never know how busy it will be or if there will be any nearby parking. But there are a few surrounding parking structures and I parked at the one close-by right around the corner off Union St. It's a super close walking distance to the restaurant!

Yelp
Had a solid experience trying this tea spot for a friend's Birthday. It was cute and a nice experience, but there were some areas of improvement. The first thing I will say is we wish that we would have gotten a run down of the menu since most of us had not been here before we had a hard time ordering and figuring it out. (Since there were some preset specials) The other issue was that some of the tea cups we got were dirty and we had to request new ones. Lastly the location is so small so we sat outside so I feel like I missed out on the cute decor on the inside, but can return again for that. The service was pretty quick overall and staff were nice so no complaints with them. They brought my friend a Birthday Ice cream dessert so that was very kind. And the tea and food was good, but nothing blew me away. It was a cute experience, but be prepared to spend upwards of $40 per person. I am pretty indifferent overall of this place the idea behind it is very cute, but could use some improvement.

Yelp
Made reservations for mother's day to take my parents for their first time. They never had high tea before so I thought it would be a treat for the both of them since we will be celebrating Mother's day. BAD IDEA! Upon entering, it was so warm and stuffy in the restaurant. We had reservations at 4:30pm for 4 people. There were tables filled with dirty dishes. I guess they were busy and understaff that day but it is no excuse. We got sat down as they were cleaning the table. No one said anything to us. No one gave us a menu or told us what was happening. We sat down waiting looking around for around 15 minutes. I was about to get up and leave at this point. I look at the thermometer and it was 79 degrees inside! Finally a lady came by and gave us the 4 different teas that they had for that day. I'm guessing we don't need to choose and we get all the flavors. Then they came and set up the table with utensils. We all chose to start with the tomato soup. When we received the soup, it was bland and cold. It looked like they literally poured it from a canned. It looked disgusting. Scones were warm but it was dry and too crunchy in my taste. Had to put some of the cream and jam to make it taste better. Sandwiches pieces were uneven. Some pieces were bigger than the other. I could make better sandwiches at home. Don't even want to talk about the dessert portion. It was just macarons and a butter cookie with a half strawberry on top. Really looks ugly and cheap and like it came from the supermarket. Overall, it was not worth the $65 per person. They raise up the price for the holiday and give you some cheap chocolates. I will not be returning to this location.

Yelp
2 words.. HOT MESS Absolutely no service unless you demand it. I was seconds away from walking out after waiting 40 minutes for service when a staff member came to ask us what's wrong. He convinced us to stay and offered to serve us immediately. For $200 for three people I would expect a certain amount of service and diligence. I made the reservation months in advance to ensure Mother's Day went smoothly but of course it did not. The soup was cold and the sandwiches were okay but certainly not worth the bother. The staff members that did serve us were very polite and doing the best they could with the situation. Overall this place is severely lacking in operationally and in management. Not to mention the dirty tea cup given to us that I snapped a pic of GROSS. If you love your mother, do not take her here. 2 stars because algorithm

Yelp
Great service and yummy tea and sandwiches. We did the basic tea service that came with scones that came out fresh and warm with jam and cream. The sandwhich selection was yummy my favorite was the chicken salad one with cranberries and smoked chicken. My passion fruit oolong tea was sooooo good. It's a great activity to do and we actually got very full from the sandwiches and pastries. It's cute inside and they have outdoor seating as well. Located near lots of parking and just a walk away from Colorado blvd with plenty of shops to look at after.

Yelp
This is the first time at this location. I'd been to Hollywood and Little Tokyo's location. A friend of mine treated for a birthday tea although not to be confused, we had the Celebration tea. Sam - oh, wonderful Sam. He truly lived up to all YELP reviews bragging about his going "above and beyond" service. He is warm, he's funny, friendly and friend-like and attentive!Ambience wise, there is seating inside the restaurant as well as outside. If you're a party of two, grab a table for four. You'll be more comfortable. They have a menu with salads, sandwiches if you're not looking for a traditional tea. Pasadena has a myriad of options for parking so that's really not an issue. I parked curbside on Holly for four hours - maximum time for $5. Worth it so I could enjoy the experience. Food was great, Sam created special touches like a side ice cream chocolate sundae on a plate with Happy Birthday written in chocolate sauce and a cut strawberry shaped like a heart. Chado has a great selection of teapots/tea cups too. Oh and tea too! I am looking forward to celebrating my granddaughter's 5th birthday here and Sam promises to make it special. I have no doubt that he will!

Yelp
My first time here, employees were great, very efficient and hardworking. Unfortunately the sones were so hard and dry you couldn't even slice it with a knife, had to break it up. Hot tea was warm, almost cold, ice tea had no flavor whatsoever and didn't like any of the sandwiches. Best part was the employees were really nice, hardworking and polite.

Yelp
We had a great afternoon on a rainy day at Chado Tea Room. The place was absolutely packed but the service was fast. We all ordered the Celebration Afternoon Tea Service and it was great. It comes with either a salad or a tomato soup. We got the soup and it was really good. The selection of teas is great and we all loved the different tea pots and cups that were used. If you want to do something a little bit different, this is a great spot to try out.

Yelp
My wife and daughter brought me here to celebrate Father's Day. Im not a tea person but it was really good and our the waiter Samuel was very helpful and explained all tea options. Thank you Samuel for the Sunday.

Yelp
Visited this place for a cute lunch and experience with my friend. I made a reservation through Yelp. I came on a Monday holiday Upon arrival, there was one large party & a couple of smaller ones. It seemed that they didn't have enough workers that day & service was inattentive. I do want to acknowledge that the server was kind, but seemed she may have been the only one working the whole dinning area. Now for the food: My friend & I ordered the $28/person which came with a chicken & cranberry sandwich, cucumber & cream cheese sandwich, salmon & cream cheese toast, egg salad sandwich, scones, & a cookie & cupcake & a pot of tea The sandwiches didn't seem fresh & were not very tasty I will say. The cucumber & cream cheese was okay. The salmon toast looked as if the salmon had been left out & we did not eat that one. The egg salad sandwich had the eggs a dark color The pot of tea was great! Overall, it was a cute experience, however, I've been to tea places before & unfortunately this experience wasn't there for me & with the added inattentive service, that is why my rating is a bit lower. I will say, the sandwiches were neatly made.

Yelp
Came here for Mothers Day with my mom. There was a special set afternoon tea celebration which was $65/person. It was my first afternoon tea experience so wasn't sure what to expect. We came on Saturday, the day before Mother's Day, which was a good decision as there were less people. I booked a reservation at 2 PM via the phone and they called me a few days before to confirm my reservation. Make sure to call to confirm as that ensures you have a spot! Once we sat down, our waiter immediately asked us if we wanted tomato soup or salad for appetizer and gave us two tea pots. He didn't tell us what tea flavor it was so we were just drinking each to see what we got. The tomato soup was delicious and hot still, but the bread was a bit low-quality. After we finished our appetizer, they immediately provided us the afternoon tea experience, which consisted of finger sandwiches, scones, and desserts. Honestly the food wasn't anything memorable. The finger sandwiches were good but rather simple in terms of design and bread choice. The scone was very dry and left my mouth thirsty. The jam that came with it tasted store bought. And the desserts were rather too sweet and nothing special. What was interesting was that after we finished, the waiter gave us two more teas so in total we had four different types of tea! We were quite full from eating let alone drinking tea. While the food wasn't anything too fancy, the reason for the 4-star is due to their service. The waiters were so attentive and checked up on us when we were looking around. I spilled some tea and they immediately cleaned up the floor. Additionally, the teas were very delicious and I appreciated the Mother's Day gift at the end. Overall, since it was Mother's Day, I appreciated Chados Tea Room's ultimate dedication to customer service and am thankful for this opportunity to try afternoon tea. My mom enjoyed her time here.

Yelp
We reserved a table for 5 and did the celebration tea and we absolutely loved it. The food is delicious and they are very accommodating for food allergies. Service is polite and kind. I love the ambiance as it's cozy and beautiful. I will definitely be booking this place for my bridal shower next year

Yelp
Love this place ! Samuel was great to us and we will definitely be coming ! The chicken sandwich with cranberry was my favorite ! And the lavender tea

Yelp
Service 5 stars Food 3 Ambiance 3.5 Tea selection 5 The best things about our afternoon tea is the service. I find that consistent at Chado's, also having been to the Little Tokyo location. I found the very long tea list overwhelming. Our server offered to bring canisters for us to help decide. Plus when my friend's tea didn't taste as she expected from its aroma, our server graciously allowed her to replace her tea. We came for two birthday gals' celebration. This place is popular for that and other girly events like a bridal shower. Many different themed tea services here like Birthday, Mom & Daughter and Barbie starting up to $65 per person. I think they start at $30. Unfortunately the Halloween-themed one was disappointing. The soup was not good and the cookie and cupcake looked like they came from Ralph's. The scones were all dry and not fresh while the sandwiches are mostly miss. The salmon is too salty, but I did like the tuna cranberry. The macarons were average, too. The chocolates dish was great and the chocolate swirled outline on the sweets dish a nice touch. Some of the more expensive tea services ($65) come with a "special gift" which turns out to be a cute cat mug with cover. Mine said, "If you love someone, let them sleep". Amen! The colorful whimsical teapots were charming and it was fun to check out the variety at neighboring tables. The street patio is very welcoming and quiet. Some reviewers said it gets loud inside, definitely true. Unfortunately we would not come back. You can order a la carte which might satisfy but afternoon tea is too much for subpar food though service is great.

Yelp
Samuel and his team provided amazing service it was our first time having tea service as a family and my kids and husband enjoyed it so much. The teas were exquisite and we can't wait to be back. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We loved coming here ! It was our first time and everything was great! The service was amazing Samuel was great and super kind and gave us great tea recommendations, the rest of the staff was amazing as well. The food was great too, very relaxing and perfect for an afternoon tea! Definitely recommend coming here!

Yelp
Afternoon tea service. Sandwiches were good however there were a few that could use some improvements. The desserts can definitely improve. It was a little loud for afternoon tea. Tables are too small. Everything felt squished. Too bad with the rain, outdoor probably would have been more enjoyable. We ordered the 3 tier option not sure why it came with two 2 tiers. Which made our table even more squished. Definitely wasn't as enjoyable as we hoped. But overall it's an experience.

Yelp
The tea service alternates wildly between delicious and questionably bad. The best part of the meal was the scones and cream: they are served warm and are baked very well. I also especially liked the tomato soup which was hearty and flavorful and the smoked salmon sandwich. Unfortunately I also found their chicken to be dry and too minced? It tasted like it came from a can and made the summer apple salad and chicken sandwich taste worse. They also serve their white bread slices with everything: from the salad to the tomato soup. Sadly it's always untoasted and plain which is a huge missed opportunity IMO for something like the tomato soup. Overall though this place is good for the price you pay. We had a decent amount of leftovers and left reasonably full. The service is spotty and worse than other places, but you get what you pay (or don't pay) for.

Yelp
I decided to have my bridal tea at Chado Tea Room and I didn't regret it one bit! The staff went above and beyond with decorating our table, setting up a welcome sign, and providing a beautiful smaller table for gifts! I didn't even know that they would do all of this for me so it was such a pleasant surprise. The ambiance was perfect, and they had a lot of beautiful Christmas decorations set up to add to the cozy and festive vibes. We were provided with plenty of different tea options throughout the entire event. My favorites were the black/jasmine tea, raspberry champagne, and butterscotch. Our server, Sam, was so incredibly kind and accommodating too! Overall, it turned out to be such a wonderful event :) I'm not the biggest fan of traditional tea snacks, but just for the service, tea, and ambiance alone I will definitely come here again. 10/10 experience!!

Aftin J.

Yelp
I made a reservation in advance and I opted to sit outside. I wanted to sit inside but there was a party happening and I found it to be too loud. The ambiance was just as lovely outside however. Tea, sandwiches and goodies were great. I can never say no to a fresh scone and clotted cream. Service was good and they were knowledgeable about the different flavors of the teas.
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
Very nice servers and our food came out quickly on a Saturday morning. I definitely recommend reservations because it fills up fast. The scones were thick and they gave us plenty of cream and jam. They were freshly baked so that's always a good sign. Their best sandwich was the chicken salad while the egg salad and cucumber mayo were okay. Salmon lox toast was solid. I wouldn't recommend their macarons as they were too artificial tasting. Sugar cookies were okay. The silver needle was overbrewed but the other green teas were good. Cute ambiance with items for sale and they have a clean bathroom.

Yelp
Chado in Pasadena, CA, is an absolute gem! From the moment you step in, you're greeted with warmth and hospitality. The ambiance is serene, perfect for a relaxing afternoon tea or a delightful meal. The selection of teas is unparalleled, catering to every palate and preference. I ordered the Gyokuro Tea and highly recommend if you like green tea. Very light and goes great with the scone. The food is expertly crafted, bursting with flavor and presented beautifully. Whether you're indulging in their delectable sandwiches or savoring their divine pastries, each bite is a culinary delight. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and always ready to make recommendations. Chado truly offers a five-star experience that leaves you feeling pampered and satisfied. A must-visit destination for tea enthusiasts and food lovers alike! Thank Chado!

Yelp
My partner brought me to Chado for my birthday and it was a wonderful experience! Though the tea room was extremely busy, we never felt forgotten, they were very attentive. I highly recommend opting for the Birthday Afternoon Tea if you're celebrating. It comes with the full Celebration tea service including a refresher, a starter, and the full sandwich, scone, and sweets tower AND a very special surprise gift at the end of your meal. I've never known another place to give an actual gift (complete with gift bag!) for a birthday meal. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
It is a mission of mine to try every little tea service spot within a 1,000 mile radius and I've heard some really good things about Chado so I needed to try this spot in Old Town out. I went on a Saturday afternoon so it was very busy. There were also 2 big bridal showers going on so it was packed. We had a reservation but it was a good 10+ min before anyone was able to come to the counter and seat us. I felt so bad for the staff, it seemed like there needed to be more of them to help out! We sat outside which was nice, inside was a little stuffy with all the people since it's not a huge room. There's two different tea services to choose from or you can just order food and tea off the menu. We did the celebration tea service, the only difference is the champagne tea and the wine chocolates and we weren't a fan of either. The food itself on the tiered plates weren't really good either. The menu we got only had a few tea options even though they've got a giant book of them and when I asked to see the book to try one of those they didn't have prices. Not a huge deal necessarily but I wanted an oolong and one of them is $20 and another is $40 (4oz loose leaf, price found on their website online) so it's a pretty big difference. All of the servers were very friendly and pretty on top of things even with the giant rush of people they had. I'd go back on a less busy day and try a regular menu food item if I ever did come back. I've heard their Little Tokyo location was really good.

Yelp
This is such a cute place! We went on a Saturday morning, around 10am and it wasn't crowded at all. Sam was our server and he was really attentive and helpful with recommending which iced teas to get for a warm day. The teas don't come sweetened but there are sugar packets if you want to add sugar. Waldorf salad was really tasty, and the scones tasted fresh! Super cute atmosphere, would love to come again

Yelp
Coming to afternoon high tea is a treat to try, not for the food items but the decor, the ability to dress up, and the tea. The pretty tea cups and saucers are so adorable and colorful. The tea pot is also incredibly cute. It was my moms birthday so I asked for the birthday celebration tea, and they gave my mom a matching cup and saucer! That being said, T-184 Podrea Tea had notes of citrus but was mainly a basic traditional black China tea, T-111 Beauty tea was a fruity white tea, S-332 I didn't taste much of the milky taste in the tea; it tasted like a very light oolong tea. The sandwiches are just a cute finger food, but the tomato basil soup was excellent. It actually goes really well with the sandwiches and on its own. The scone with the jam and/or the whipped cream was very yummy! Definitely a good place to experience high tea at least once. All the teas are available for purchase at the counter too!

Yelp
I had a delightful experience here with a few friends. The establishment boasts a charming indoor tea room as well as a cozy outdoor seating area. We decided to sit outdoors as the weather was perfect. The servers were very polite and made sure we were doing well the whole time. We did the chado afternoon tea service ($28.95/ person) and everyone gets to choose their own pot of tea. The tea was not only delicious but also expertly brewed, devoid of any hint of bitterness. Instead, it skillfully accentuated the floral and vanilla notes. The rack was also lovely and each person had more than enough food. The scones and sandwiches were a delectable match for our tea selection, and went perfectly with the tea. I would definitely go again to try different brews of tea with my friends.

Yelp
I don't know where to start. I love afternoon tea and have been to different Chado locations. Today was especially busy because it was Mother's Day. The menu was set which was fine. Unfortunately the service was so slow. So slow in fact that we were there for almost 3 hours. It started when we arrived and they had no record of our reservation so we had to show them the confirmation on opentable. After we were seated it took forever for us to get our tea. We watched as many tables who sat after us received their ice tea and chocolates immediately while we waited and waited. After our tea finally came, we waited yet again to get our tea cups. Then only one food tray came out. Took forever for the next tray to come out. We asked for kids tray but they got the same stuff as us. The food was only ok. A lot of dishes were really bland and the scones were hard as rocks. Honestly we just picked out the strawberries out of the second tray and left the rest untouched. The worst was waiting 45 minutes to get the check. We tried multiple times to flag someone down but we would flag someone and they would tell us they were working on it and not return. To be fair, the servers weren't being lazy. They were way overworked. Our server was our greeter, server and was even busing tables. I believe I only saw three of them for the whole restaurant. I picked this location for Mother's Day tea because they had a children's option but it was not accommodating to kids. They didn't have tea alternatives (I would've been ok with bottled apple juice) and didn't have kids sandwhiches. We won't be back. We don't have the time.

Yelp
Service was fine, but the food wasn't good!! The bread for the sandwiches were stale. It wasn't just one dish either - it was all of them. The salmon also didn't look fresh. It was very grey-ish looking.. Kindly enough, the server comped a dish from our tab but I probably wouldn't come back again

Yelp
Chado has long been a good intro place to afternoon tea and other similar activities. Probably my 3rd time here and it's consistently fine. This time it was for a birthday so I'm sure it was a little difficult to accommodate 12 of us (reservations were made weeks ago) but they did a pretty good job. We all had the standard tea set service, but I think because of how many people we had, it was more like a pot of tea for every ~4 people or so.. The sandwich sets all had enough for everyone to try 1 of everything. The scones with jam and cream are always the highlight for me. Everything else is pretty mediocre. Unfortunately the staff doesn't seem to know all the macaron flavors or seemed unsure, so I had to avoid the green one (pistachio allergy). All in all, still a fun little place for a get together. Parking is plentiful in all the surrounding structures or street if you're lucky. Standard Pasadena affair.

Yelp
Great place to celebrate birthdays, baby showers, wedding showers, anniversaries, etc or even hang out with friends We got the Celebration Afternoon Tea Service $36.95/ person. It has extra Tea Infused Wine (nonalcoholic), chocolates, and soup or salad. You can get the $28.95/ person Chado Afternoon Tea Service. The extras aren't necessary. This will fill you up! Trust me. I've done both and this is sufficient. And you're gonna be drinking tea with your food, so that definitely fills you up. Make sure you have enough time because for us, it took 2.5-3 hours to finish. You can stay longer. We came on a busy Saturday. It took 30 min for them to take our order. Food was great! Loved the parings. The teas were good too. We got the Display Teas-Lychee and Mango. You can pick any teas you want. There wasn't any air conditioning so it can get hot in there. Free tea refills: they just pour more hot water Ambiance: very loud but cute place Restrooms are in the back Parking : need to pay--street parking or garage parking. We parked a block away for $10 all day. Service: a bit slow, I feel like they need more workers. They're very nice and will come when you call them. Compared to the Torrance location, I like the Torrance location better.

Yelp
This was the best tea experience I've had! First time going to chado tea room and had a blast celebrating the graduation giveaway with my best friend. Our server Sam was the best, so kind and attentive to first timers like us! 10/10 would go again!

Yelp
We made reservations and came here for a birthday celebration recently. When we arrived, they told us our table was inside but it turned out they made a mistake and we were instead seated outside. When we were ready to order, they told us everything was pre-set and that we couldn't choose what to order. We weren't told this over the phone so it was really disappointing, especially since we thought the birthday girl would be able to choose her own tea. Fortunately after some talk, they brought us a couple pots of Monkey-picked Oolong tea. If it's your first time here, there are no refills on the tea. Other than those issues, service was good. Our server regularly checked on us. I parked on the street and paid the meter through an app. 2hr time limit though so I had to leave early since we were seated about 15 minutes later than our reservation time. Unfortunately because of the mistakes our birthday celebration didn't feel that special.

Yelp
Excellent tea and delicious tower. However, one thing that we noticed was that this location was too busy for the number of staff (who were doing their best mind you!) We hope management can add an extra person to help! Not a knock on the service, because our servers were excellent. Otherwise, I prefer the Torrance location more.

Yelp
This place was such a wonderful experience for having a tea party with people you love. The teas were all served in different tea pots and we got a variety of different flavors. This was so refreshing and delicious. Hot tea. The signature afternoon tea service was divine. The flavors of the sandwiches weren't too heavy, and the scones went perfect with the cream and jam. I will definitely have to come back and enjoy this tea experience again.

Yelp
My experience was pretty good. I thought the food (got the celebration afternoon tea service with the little sandwiches and the soup) was ok, nothing to rave about but the teas were really good. I got a wine inspired tea, which I liked a lot. It's a mild flavor but good. My sister got a hibiscus flavored tea and it had a very strong sweet flavor which I personally thought was better haha. The teas came in such a cute teapot too! The only thing that I didn't quite like was being sat outside, but that wasn't anyone's fault. We happen to reserve our seats the same day as a bigger bridal shower so they occupied the whole indoor tea room. It looked quite cute and Instagram worthy lol. The outdoor patio was set up for Mother's Day so it was nicely decorated. I was just cold so I preferred to be indoors. Other than that, the service was ok too.

Yelp
Chado Tea Room was amazing, it is a small quaint and clean tea room. Service was outstanding. We had Samuel, who was very patient with my party of 4. He explained how the menu worked and talked through each dish. The food was excellent. It seems like a small sampling, but it fills you up. Everything was fresh and delish. The soup, the salad, the sandwiches and pastry. Especially the tea. We will definitely come again. We went for Mothers Day tea and received a gift, which was so unexpected and delightful.

Yelp
Chado Tea Room in Pasadena offers a delightful experience for various occasions, from brunch with friends to celebrating Mothers' Day. I recently visited for afternoon tea with a friend, and overall, it was a lovely experience. The tea package we chose included finger sandwiches, mouthwatering pastries, and our own pots of tea, and the chai options were a pleasant nod to my nostalgic memories of chai from my Nepali roots. The warm and inviting service at Chado Tea Room added to the enjoyment of our visit. Situated in the heart of Old Town Pasadena, it is conveniently located near accessible parking structures, making it easy to reach. However, while the ambiance exudes a vintage vibe, I found the decor in the room to be a little off-balance, which slightly affected the overall charm. Despite this, the experience remains pleasant, particularly if you're in the mood for dressing up in floral or pastel-colored dresses, adding to the joyful atmosphere. One thing to note is that, despite our reservation, it seems that Chado Tea Room also accommodates walk-in guests, making it accessible to those without prior plans.

Yelp
we came here for my niece's birthday. it's very cute inside with an adorable collection of tea pots. to set the scene, it was the day before NYE so it was quite busy. we had a party of 14 and went with the preset tea lunch for 8 adults and 6 kids. the service was extremely slow. we got our tea and waited over 10 mins for cream and then another 10 mins for sugar, not sure why they didn't all come out at the same time so we could enjoy our first cup of tea. then it must have been over an hour before we started getting receiving the food. we were told the kids' food would be prepared first but the adults' came out first. the kids were very tired of waiting. the food was good, eggs salad sandwich was the best. the scones and jams were tasty. it took awhile to get more tea, juice and even water. we asked for the check and they mentioned doing something for my niece's birthday. well that resulted in another 15 min wait for i think what appeared to be a mixture of custard and vanilla ice cream. in all, the tea party took over 2 hours and 40 mins. it was enjoyable at moments but overall, the waiting put a damper on the celebration.

Yelp
Great tea and treats at this Chado location! My partner and I came for Valentine's Day and I got the salad and tomato soup and she got afternoon tea, and everything was truly delicious and delightful. If you're not a big bread person they actually have some good veggie salad options. Out server Sam was really sweet and surprised us w some champagne inspired iced tea w little berries and hearts We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I would not recommend coming here on a holiday! I do not know what the service is like on a regular business day but the service was terrible on Mother's Day today. We had a reservation at 3:00 pm. We were seated at 3:40. We had to ask for water and finally got our tea and water a little after 4:10pm. We had to find the waiter to order their specialized menu options. Placed our order around 4:30pm. Had to go find the waiter to see where the starting salad was. Out of the 6 plates, only 3 had dressing, they came on different dishes from bowls to plates with different portions of salad, and had a disgusting piece of plain white bread with nothing on it on the side. Had to find the waiter again for dressing. By this time of 5:00, our tea was cold before we even got the main course with the sandwiches and scones. Finally there rest of the food arrived about 5:20 after we walked to the front again to remind them and the food was very disappointing. The sandwiches did not have much flavor and were poorly constructed. The scones were dry and not that good. For charging $65 a person, I was appalled at the service and quality of food. The wait staff was kind but they were noticeably tired. They were running around the entire time but no one was really being served. Or if a table was served, it was out of order or for the wrong table. After many kind complaints, we were given free tea and a discount on our bill but this was not the Mother's Day high tea experience we were looking for. We arrived at 2:50 for our 3:00 pm reservation and did not leave until 6:15 pm. Very awful service and now I will never return to try it even on a regular day.

Yelp
Terrible service and food was sub par for the cost. Very costly for food that was not fresh. Everything tasted stale and frozen. My friends didn't even eat their paninis. Basically, the paninis were cold toasted white bread. The cheese wasn't even melted on the paninis. The scone I was given was hard as cement. It was over baked and cold. The servers ignored us and we had to beg for menus and for anything else we needed. I had made reservations and was shocked at how poorly this tearoom was managed. I was embarrassed bringing my friends here. Worst tea room I have ever visited. Unclean bathrooms. Would not recommend.

Yelp
Chado Tea Room literally was the best for my sisters Bridal Shower Party! We were well attended throughout the entire event. The teas and sandwiches were a hit! The waiters and waitresses were so nice! Would literally come again!

Yelp
Cute little place in Pasadena however the service was very slow. It took almost 20-25 mins to get our food and for our sugar and milk! The sandwiches were not that great either. I'm glad the girls had fun.
