First time here. Atmosphere is nostalgic of a quaint pub. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The blackberry hard cider was excellent. Got the buttermilk fried chicken the first night (yes I took a bite before taking the pic) the bacon gravy was out of this world. Liked it so much we went back the next night. The owner remembered us and was super friendly and welcoming. French dip was also very good. He even gave me bacon gravy for my fries. Thank you for making this trip memorable with amazing food and hospitality. Will definitely be back when visiting again. There will be a next time for sure. Also, it is down by the waterfront so you can see National Harbor from outside. We watched the fireworks for a bit on the 3rd.

The food here is solid, but not mind blowing in anyway. Service left a lot to be desired, the manager did have to come and get our order because the servers were all busy. However, our food did come pretty quickly and everything matched our order. Layout is not the best (the front door is the only way servers can get to the outdoor seating). It is confident and close to the waterfront and seems like they have a lot of seating if you have a larger group. Solid, but probably wouldn’t be my first or go-to option.

I can’t lie my experience wasn’t good. I love food and it just wasn’t hitting for me. I had crab dip and wings the crab dip was watery. It didn’t have and seasoning, no old bay no nothing. My wings were soft baked buffalo wings. They could have cooked them longer. I did ask for them to be well done I guess that’s what well done means to them. The music that was being played was good tho. Atmosphere was cool. No wait times I was able to sit down immediately. In my opinion it ain’t a spot I would go to but everybody experience is different.

Update: Went for brunch this morning and got the Flappy Jack brunch burger... OMG that pancake burger was PHENOMENAL!! I devoured every bite of that burger. I was glad they served strawberries and pineapple on the side to cut through the richness of the burger and syrup and make up for such a decadent breakfast. I would absolutely order it again! Haven't been to Chadwick's in ages but glad to see this water side restaurant still holds up. We were there for their happy hour special, and the burger and fries hit the right spot! Probably some of the best fries I've had in a restaurant in a very long time. The burger was thick, juicy and was cooked to perfection. We had plenty of seating at the upstairs bar and didn't have to wait too long to be served. Definitely coming back to try more of their happy hour bites, plus they're all you can eat crab legs on Wednesday nights.

Came here for Sunday brunch on 14 April. The food was just ok, nothing to brag about. I had the egg white omelet with peppers onion and cheese. It was heavily saturated with oil and very bland, which required me to add salt and pepper. The home fries were ok, but it seemed like they were very skimpy and trying to save the potatoes. It was not worth the 14 dollars. The crab dip had good flavor but lacked crab meat, just like the home fries, they were very skimpy on crab meat. This dish was not worth the price. The service was just ok, nothing special. I did enjoy the decor, the interior was inviting and really made us think we were going to enjoy the brunch. Sorry, they failed. The parking across the street is employed with an employee who is useless and processes information slower than the average human. Sorry Chad, I don't think I will be back to review any other dishes offered by the establishment.

Google
Biscuits and bacon gravy--amazing. Apple pie--best I've ever had. Apples were tart and firm but not undercooked, overall not too sweet. Crisp topping, perfectly warmed, not too hot. Delicious crust. Makes me wish I lived in the area. Ten stars. Others in our party loved their fried green tomatoes and fish and chips. Highly recommend!

Google
Great restaurant! Had lunch and ordered a Salmon BLT with sweet potato fries. Excellent! Big piece of salmon. Hubby had a French Dip Roast sandwich which was equally delicious. Highly recommend!!

Google
Had dinner here last night. Service was excellent - very attentive waiter despite the crowd, and one who never seemed like he was hovering (a real trick!) Monday nights have half off burgers … so I got a Reuben. Not the biggest Reuben I’ve ever had - but tasty and unlike many other places the bread wasn’t shiny and over saturated with butter. Their clam chowder, however, was average. For $8 you get a good sized bowl, but it wasn’t exactly teeming with bits of potatoes and clams and such (the Try Pits In it was not). Parking is surprisingly ample if you’re willing to pay for the adjacent lot, otherwise it’s the typical Old Town street parking challenge.

Yelp
Wish we had planned to have dinner here. This is a don't miss spot. Local friendly people, friendly staff, good drinks, good food and great conversation. We stopped in here per recommendation of a Ferry Boat worker after we got off of our Potomac River tour. Good call on his part. Upon entering we were met by Nick who was tending bar. We sat at the bar and the experience began. What do I mean by experience.... Just a pleasant conversation with Nick who made us feel welcome into this foreign place. We ordered a couple of apps to soak up the alcohol. Both very good. Spicy Chicken Egg rolls and the special fish tacos. My only complaint the tacos didn't come with lime slices to squeeze onto them. This was quickly remedied with a quick ask to Nick. Also a very good sign about the food were the number of people (locals) who were coming in to pick up their take out orders. If I lived near by I would frequent this place often. As for the interior it had a maritime vibe and was well maintained.

Yelp
Horrible service at the bar on a Sunday afternoon early. Not super busy. Rude women behind the bar, to us and other people. "I'm hard of hearing so speak up" in a very rude way to a dad with his daughter picking up food. He was shocked. It was embarrassing and uncalled for. Bar tender bothered by having to do her job. Drinks were awful. Simple tequila on the rocks with muddled limes (nope, she didn't do that), instead we got the tequila on the rocks with ONE wedge of a lime and a slice of orange. Never coming back and I'm sure they don't care if you do or not. Several locals there since they knew each other and even they were not getting the service locals would get. Weird.

Yelp
Had lunch here it was ok at best. The service was great, friendly staff, very kind and quick. The food not so much. Ordered the fried green tomatoes it was a bit hard to taste them because the jalapeño sauce was a bit much as they were drenched in them. The bacon jam was actually good, but I would think that the sauces would've come on the side, especially for a food that has a delicate taste. The crab dip, as a native Washingtonian / Marylander who has been eating crab my entire life. I would say I know good crab from miles away. It was very seasoned and the lemon was so overwhelming. I could not taste any crab. It tasted like Cajun lemon sauce. The fried chicken was actually really good, we usually don't like the breast, but it was actually very flavorful and well cooked. The burger was good as well and their drinks are pretty solid. All and all it was an ok experience but not for the price.

Yelp
The food was hot and tasty. The service was good. I would eat here again. Wee both had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken entree.

Yelp
I had read a few reviews about this place and decided to come for dinner... As we walked in, there was a guy lounging on a chair right at the entrance, who asked us if we were looking to have dinner...we said Yes. He grabbed a couple of menus and showed us to a table....the odd thing is that he was not standing up waiting to greet people like most hosts would....but lounging....LOL. Luis was our server and he was very nice and attentive. We got some IPAs (delish) and some really good food...I got the salmon and my husband got the buttermilk fried chicken plate. Both were really well done and deliciously prepared. The portions were adequate..not huge...but not small either... Great place with a nice cozy vibe....located in an old brick and stone buidling...

Yelp
Chadwick's will always have a special place in my heart because it is where my husband and I had our first date. We have also continued coming here throughout the years. It has a great location near the water and a varied menu. They are open for lunch, dinner, as well as brunch. It is also a big place so typically not a wait to get a table, there is an upstairs as well as a downstairs seating area and a large bar. This time we came with a couple friends for dinner and we were sat downstairs in this side area. It is almost like an enclosed patio with a big front window, stone walls, and lots of pretty string lights coming from the ceiling. In my opinion it's the best area to sit at for ambiance. We started our menu with a round of drinks as well as an order of the Spicy Chicken Egg Rolls. They were warm and nicely fried served with a sweet chili sauce. A first we weren't given small plates so it was bit challenging to eat and dip until we asked and got some. But overall a solid starter. For my entree I got the Buttermilk Fried Chicken which is typically a Fried Chicken breast, bacon gravy, mac & cheese, coleslaw, and a biscuit. You are able to swap the sides for whenever of your choosing so I got veggie of the day (broccoli) instead of slaw. It was a nice sized portion, but the taste of some components left a little bit to be desired. The chicken was moist and had good breading. But when fried chicken isn't on the bone it just is not the same. There was absolutely no seasoning on the broccoli. Thank goodness for the bacon gravy which was tasty and honestly wish I had a bit more of it. Their Mac and cheese wasn't anything special, but was fine. My husband however got the Short Ribs entree which were braised birria short ribs, consommé, mashed potatoes, and sautéed spinach. He let me have a few bites and honestly he won dish of the evening. It was a well plated and executed dish. Everything on the plate worked well together and the consommé was so flavorful and helped to elevate everything else. Might get this one in the future for myself

Yelp
Another great experience food service were amazing. No complaints we were sat in the atrium and the decor and ambiance are amazing. If in old town stop by for an amazing experience.

Yelp
Went last night for dinner with a friend. The service was good however after we ate. We saw a rat. We showed it to the server he confirmed. Said he would get the manager. Manager came and apologized and walked away. Never eating there. Wouldn't recommended. If they are behaving so nonchalantly about a rat. I'm really concerned what the kitchen is like.

Yelp
This was a great spot for brunch! I had the eggs Benedict with crab cakes and they didn't disappoint!
google avatar

Yelp
They served some late night food while we were bar hopping! I got a quick snack of the hummas platter, the pita was very warm and the portion size of the hummas was amazing! This was exactly what I needed on a very cold night! The waitress was amazing, she was very nice and made sure everything came out okay and continued to check on us throughout our time here!
google avatar

Yelp
Basket of fries tasted good but it wasn't much of a basket. Got these to go to watch the boat parade. I was planning on sharing with friends but I had to be selfish and eat them all because it was small and they were mostly crumbs. I must have gotten the last of the fries.

Yelp
I am bias! Let's just jump right into that! Chadwick's is my safe place! If and when I venture to Old Town I must make a stop, at Chadwick's. I love Chadwick's so much that one year my birthday plans were a total wreck! So my friends asked me to suggest a place to go next I of course chose here! My sister and I love to come here for the lemon drops!!!! Amazing amazing amazing! The bar staff is top notch! Please check them out for all occasions Brunch Lunch Dinner Bar hoping Drinks Food Vibes and just a good time!

Yelp
Great Alexandria staple. I love sitting in the bar area. The food and drinks are solid. One of my go to spots.

Yelp
Visited on a Sunday evening there was no wait! Sat on main floor and server came over immediately. Food came out pretty fast as well. To get into the food, it's nothing to write home about. A lot of the food was pretty bland.

Yelp
This place was the place serving food past 11 and I am so glad I came here. Customer service was good. Stayed downstairs due to a party going on upstairs. Food and drinks were very good. Ordered the: Grilled lamb burger: 9/10 I wish it had a little more of the yogurt sauce Fries: seasoned well and fried just enough for a light crisp Chadwick's reserve Manhattan: very good, do not get if not a fan of bitters

Yelp
On Sunday morning our family of 7 gathered at Chadwick's for Brunch, celebrating s 1st birthday. Our server Augie was delightful, a perfect combination of knowledgeable, efficiency, and charm. He quickly served drinks, described menu items , and then returned with our food. The shrimp & grits was delicious as was the Eggs Benedict. When Augie learned that it was the baby's birthday, he surprised us with a slice of warm apple pie & ice cream, topped with a single lit candle! I highly recommend!

Yelp
Sat at the bar. Friendly welcome. Food arrived quickly. Outstanding: Butternut squash & Black Bean Wrap. Hubby loved his ever-so -cheesy chicken quesadilla; reliably good - repeatedly. Thank you Jordan and Charles and Eddie for a lovely evening. Happy customer :D

Yelp
Been here a few times since i have lived in Alexandria. They have great drinks, delicious food and an awesome bar staff. There is one bartender who works here who has become almost like my go to guy. He make you feel so welcomed. Depending on the time of the year will determine the atmosphere. Siring football season you have the commraderie of xheering for your sport. On the slowe night great place to chill and relax with a drink and the tasty big mc. Friday during summer is very much the party night. Bit overall great place.

Yelp
The shrimp tacos were delicious , fried green tomatoes with a bacon jam so sinfully delicious. The cider on draft was really crisp and not overly sweet. They were able to accommodate eight of us on a Saturday night while in town for a cheer competition. Staff were friendly and we also were treated with a beautiful table right in the front window. There was a prom going on nearby and we enjoyed everyone walking past in their dresses

Yelp
I was back in town, and it happened to be on Monday. They still have their 1/2 priced burgers, cooked to your liking. I enjoyed it along with my Kettle One Dirty Martinis. KAILYN was great - attentive and friendly and knows how to make great cocktails. Chadwicks was very busy outside, upstairs and around the bar....seems many were enjoying the delicious eats and drinks as well, a must when in town !

Yelp
Food was delicious but portions were small. Service was decent but a little skimpy on the back and forth checking on us. Ambiance was nice, Quaint, a little dark.

Yelp
In Old Town Alexandria early in the day and didn't have time to eat so decided to check out a nearby restaurant for brunch. Chadwick was closer and I have never been to this place before. I came here without reservations they didn't have any open tables downstairs but told me I could go upstairs to the bar and place my order and possibly sit outside. Fortunately, there was a table available outdoors. The table was dirty and needed to be wiped down, which no one did by the way. I ordered the Francois with a brunch cocktail (can't remember the name). The food was good, but definitely underwhelming nothing to write home about. I was also taken aback when I saw the small portion. The drink was ok. Another con was they only have one bathroom area and in the women's bathroom, one of the stalls was out of order. A recipe for disaster. All in all, I wouldn't come back.
google avatar

Yelp
They are a solid comfortable place deserving of 3.5 stars. They are not the type of place you go for a culinary experience. They have comfort food. 1. you can walk in, they are a big establishment that can seat many 2. Food: 4 stars Crab cake - good ceviche - not so good, needs better seasoning burger - amazing 3. Drinks: 4 stars Strong, but nothing special. The look or the taste is rather ordinary especially for the price 4. Service: more like a casual diner, nice though Again, this is not a special date spot or anything. it is for casual meals.

Yelp
It's been a while since we've been, but finally made it back for a brunch gathering. First of all, the service was amazing! Jennea was terrific. The Spicy Bloody Mary was a great start, but the star was the Jalapeño Cucumber margarita! I had a hard time picking from the great menu, but ended up getting the brunch taco's! Bro...these are a must! The atmosphere was good, we sat upstairs. Not too loud. Highly recommend...there's a reason they've been in business for as long as they have! A staple of Old Town charm!! Again, ask for Jennea (pronounced Jen-A)...so sweet and a great server
google avatar

Yelp
I'll start off with the not so great.. the floors are oily like you will slip in heels oily must baby step walk to be safe. Service was good and very attentive. Came here last minute to celebrate my birthday with a small group of 8. Food came out hot and fast. The fried green tomatoes were delicious as well as this bacon jam they served. Everything was tasty all that was missing was some solid drinks. I'll have to find my pics of our food but I would definitely be back.

Yelp
Got there when they opened on a Saturday for brunch. Delicious food! Had eggs Benedict with bacon and cheese grits and biscuits and gravy. Brunch specials were their Mimosas and Bloody Marys. Service was good, asking a few times if we needed anything. Love that this restaurant is in an old historical building. Great character!
google avatar

Chris J.

Yelp
This place has superb service and superb food! The crab cakes are the best that I have ever tasted!

Vik S.

Yelp
BARELY a 3 star. Sunday service is slow and bar staff are inattentive, portions are woefully small. I ordered tenders and fries... $12 for 1/3-1/4 sized serving (of most other places) cut into thin overly breaded strips. $4 for 1/2 serving of fries. Served room temp. Brought this up to bartender and was told, 'well have a nice day'.., literally. Everyone has different expectations, but I believe this would universally be a thumbs down. Day staff service and quality (of everything) here has suffered in the last few years. Evening/late night staff is on point. Suggest going elsewhere unless you're here at 1AM.
google avatar

Yelp
The lady is behind the bar on Saturdays and Sundays are super nice! Mimosas made strong and the food is all so delicious
google avatar

Yelp
Apparently this bar REFUSED to put the inauguration on any of its TVs after a huge amount of people requested it, as we had nowhere to watch it in the 9* weather. SO MANY OF US WALKED OUT- HORRIBLE HORRIBLE
google avatar

Mackinzie R.

Yelp
We stumbled into this restaurant on one of our recent family trips. Out of all of the spots we ate at over the week this was the worst. We quickly learned quick pace and attentiveness isn't something the east coast has in their waiter had guide so we will just briefly mention it. The clam chowder as my husband described it was like Thanksgiving chowder. Everything else was just fine. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat great, anything more you should head somewhere else.
google avatar

Yelp
A great restaurant and place to grab brunch! The seating area next to the brick wall is beautiful too! My husband, son, and I grabbed brunch there with a friend. One thing I absolutely love is that it is kid friendly! We shared the French toast, omelette, and grilled cheese for my son. Everything was delicious! My son was a fan of the grilled cheese and French toast! Location is right next to the water front, so it's in a perfect location to stretch your legs after a meal. Love it here and hope to visit again soon!

Yelp

Yelp
I worked with chadwicks for a special birthday celebration and they were INCREDIBLE. It was for a group of six with a unique circumstance. Both managers I talked to were super helpful. On the day of the event, everyone including the hostess were magnificent. If you ever need to stage any kind of event or happening, big or small, this is your place.
google avatar

Yelp
When you walk into this establishment it gives an old unique spot. I love the ambiance and decor inside. The service was amazing. I asked for a mock tail and my server made sure it was the best mock tail I've had. Also, she ensured I was well taken care of until my friend came. The food came out at a great time and it was really fresh and delicious. The crab dip was very flavorful and the bread was fresh. The spicy cocker egg rolls were my favorite l. They were just packed with so much flavor and seasoning. My friend enjoyed his Cobb salad he s a chef so he approved of everything. The wings were a nice size and had a great taste. I give them a 5/5. And I heard they have a late night menu and stays open very late. This is good and I will be back soon.

Yelp
Great location in Old Town. Standard fare. The place was crowded on a Friday night. It was mostly couples and SINGLE MEN watching the game. I couldn't believe how many men were there. I was with my boyfriend and I wanted to send up a bat signal to let all the single women in the area know that the men are here. Lol. The service at the bar was fast and friendly. The drinks were good. We ordered a Rueben and crab cakes. The Rueben was a hit. The crab cake was meh. They said it was lump, but tasted like backfin to me. The fresh fruit that I ordered was truly fresh and delicious. Parking is plentiful. Cute, casual date night spot, and people were friendly. It looked like a great place to meet someone.

Yelp
Ole town Alexandria! Hard parking! Food good! Hostess excellent! Fried chicken good! But lamb shank over cooked! It was very busy! Pub experience! Menu is all over!
google avatar

Keith A.

Yelp
Chadwicks is one of my favorite spots to sit on the barstool with a friend and let the time pass. The atmosphere is one of an old pub, but it is off the main street by the water which makes it unique and set apart from the other restaurants of Old Town Alexandria. The food is always consistent and always very good. They have the best burger and the best fried chicken sandwich anywhere. I order these, along with a Chadwicks Amber most of the time I am there. The fried chicken dinner is also recommended, as well as any daily specials they may have. Friendly staff that makes you want to come back again and again.
google avatar

Yelp
Good burgers and salads, no issues with services. Overall okay place for casual gatherings.

Yelp
Happy with the food and the service at this restaurant. Came here around 10:30am and was able to beat the brunch crowd that arrives closer to noon. Service was simple and efficient. We were seated and given our menus to look at and our server just told us to wave him down whenever we were ready. I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and a grapefruit mimosa. The pancakes were fluffy and had the perfect amount of chocolate chips to not overwhelm you and feel like you're eating a dessert. Additionally, the pancakes had a large scoop of cinnamon butter which was enough to spread amongst the whole stack. The mimosa was light and refreshing. Even got a free half refill from our server. Overall, a good experience. Prices weren't too steep for the portion you're receiving, in my opinion. In the future, I would likely try different menu items for brunch. A great spot in Old Town if you arrive at a good time.
google avatar

Justine T.

Yelp
Good food in a rustic setting. Our server was nice but rarely checked up on us and never offered to refill our empty waters. My eggs chesapeake was really tasty, but they skimped on the crab cake and overcooked the eggs/the yolk was already popped. I liked the bearnaise - it was really buttery and slightly tangy. I tried my friend's francois and it was delicious - the fried chicken was so crispy. I did enjoy my meal and while nothing was terrible, nothing really blew me away. There was also a surprise appearance of what looked like a green bell pepper piece in my fruit, which was odd. Overall, I would not come back and I do not recommend this restaurant. The food tasted good but presentation was lazy, and the ambiance and service was just okay.
google avatar

Yelp
Great happy hour options for drinks and food and plenty of seating! One of my favorite spots
google avatar

Yelp
Greasy egg omelet, and it was served like someone counted how many potatoes to place on my plate. The crab dip was just ok, hardly any cran meat in it, it was more like a soup. The meals lacked flavor.

Yelp
Great brunch option in Old Town On Saturday and Sundays until 3:30. I've eaten here twice for brunch and the food has been pretty darn good!! I had the French toast a few months back and it was super yummy. This recent visit, however, I pigged out and ordered Eggs any style (scrambled for me please), bacon and a chocolate chip pancake! Soooo yummy!! Alex was our server and he was super energetic, attentive and just got the job done! He gave us the run down - how much longer we had to order brunch (on Sunday, brunch was over at 3:30pm) and the brunch cocktail specials. Good stuff!! Everything was great! I really enjoyed the flavorful cheddar grits! Seasoned to perfection! Overall, if it's not toooo busy, try and grab a yummy brunch at a great value!

Yelp
My party and I arrived at Chadwick's on a Saturday at around 10pm. Our party was kind of spread out on the second floor. I didn't like how there wasn't table service and we had to order and pay at the bar. My fiancé and I enjoyed the Strand St. Mule and Ron's Peach Sidecar. The Strand St. Mule was a classic take on a mule, consisted of vodka, lime, and ginger beer, and was quite refreshing. The Ron's Peach Sidecar consisted of cognac, apricot brandy, peach schnapps, and lemon. It was fruit forward and quite strong. We were not a fan of the Chadwick's Punch - it was fizzy, sweet, and sour.
google avatar

Alena M.

Yelp
They were very considerate of our wait time. The server was honest and pleasant. Food was a good end to the day after sitting out at the Nats game in the windy cold!
google avatar

Yelp
The good: The blackened salmon BLT was delicious and came with real mashed potatoes. The bad: almost everything else. We waited almost 15 minutes for a waiter. Our appetizer came which was the crab dip with the pita. The crab dip was watery (yes, watery--see photo) and the pita chips were fried, greasy and hard. We barely touched it. We waited 30 minutes for the entree which thankfully was good. Our waiter never asked if we liked our food, why we didn't eat the appetizer, etc.. What a shame, because it's in a great location near the water. We really wanted to like it!
google avatar

Ian K.

Yelp
Chadwick's was just okay. It's a good casual spot for lunch or an early dinner near old town and near the waterfront. Outdoor seating was a plus and the food was pretty standard considering they have a wide array to choose from (mainly American). The service seemed quick and efficient. It was worth the stop. PROS: - Outdoor seating - Service was quick (lunch hours) - Casual atmosphere CONS: - Some menu items overpriced

Yelp
We requested seating upstairs where we were greeted by the manager. Great customer service and staff on the upper level. The quality of the food wasn't to our liking, but the place has got charm. I would recommend coming for a large event, or just stopping by for drinks. Located very close to the water.
