I'm not sure what the hype is on the tortas. Maybe it's all about the vibe, as it is chill, but flavors are definitely lacking...
So here we go with my breakdown...
I can see why the place might be popular. The decor and the vibe are chill. The patio looks like it would be fun to hang out in (tho it wasn't open during our visit). The interior dining area has booth seating with a juke box and gumball machine, and there are lots of pictures with celebrities that have visited the place.
We ordered the carnitas and chicken tortas and potato and bean crispy tacos. The bread was definitely hard and chewy even after soaking. The tortilla and the stuffing used for the tacos were definitely different; the tortilla was thick, and I'm not really sure what the stuffing mix was as it tasted more like masa and not potatoes. The sauce was odd tasting. It tasted too much like cloves and a bit sweet (weird and not to my liking), but the spicy sauce was good and spicy. The carnitas meat was too dry and lacking flavor, but the chicken was really good.
Our server was attentive and friendly. They have their own parking lot, which is not too big, and when the place closes at 6, they close the gates to the parking too.
Overall, I wouldn't eat here again as the flavors were not to my liking (nor the people i was with).... way too many cloves in that sauce and bread is too hard!
