"Chai Peking, the kosher, takeout-only restaurant located inside the Toco Hills Kroger, embraces everything that’s wonderful about American Chinese food on its menu. The dishes here are familiar and nostalgic, like the sesame chicken and Mongolian beef. Chai Peking also offers gluten-free, soy-free, and nut-free options, too. In addition to everything on the menu being dairy-free, Chai Peking features special Shabbat meal packages. The Kroger in Toco Hills also offers a wide variety of kosher products and kosher selections in its deli. Shabbat family meals available from Chai Peking." - Robbie Medwed, Eater Staff

Google
Horrible food. Order was 30+ minutes late. Chicken was soggy and soaked in a pool of overly sweet gross sauce. Mongolian beef was 80% onions and was tough and flavorless. Lo mein noodles were dry and flavorless. Maybe the worst $70 I've ever spent on food. 0/10 this is not kosher it's embarrassing. I wouldn't eat here if it was free.

Google
The food was absolutely delicious. I requested the egg foo young to be less oily and Mordechai listened and made it exactly as I requested. He is the best! The whole family enjoyed every dish. The kids love the sweet and sour chicken but without the sauce and they made sure to put it on the side. Can't wait to eat here again.

Google
This is hands down the best kosher Chinese food I’ve ever had! The flavors are authentic, the portions are generous, and the ingredients are always fresh. The service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere made for a great dining experience. Whether you’re craving classic dishes or something more unique, this place delivers on taste and quality. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!”

Google
The food was in credible, best Chinese food I've had in a long while. They add a 20% "service fee" if you order online which is a bit annoying so I just called to place an order instead. As for atmosphere it's inside a Kroger's so not much of one, but it's still a really great place for kosher Chinese food

Google
Everyone in our group loved the food! I enjoyed General Tso's Chicken and hot & sour soup. The food was made-to-order and delicious. The owner was so kind...made me feel like part of the family! Can't wait to go back!

Google
Must have the General Tso’s chicken. It was crispy and moist with a delicious sauce. The chicken and mushroom dish was AMAZING! The hot and sour soup should be served with a straw to drink it faster. Mordy is the nicest man and will take great care of you. Take him up on his recommendations!

Google
Main dishes are great, no complaints there. They don't not offer a real egg roll. Only the typical probably frozen spring roll. Sorry, I have to give him a few votes down for that. What happened to the days when we went to a Chinese restaurant and got an authentic homemade egg roll? Guess I'm just way out of time here. Sort of sad, but these days you just can't find a real egg roll

Google
Very tasty Chinese kosher restaurant inside Kroger supermarket. Large size has a decent quantity of food. Recommend the chicken and beef with rice noodles or fried rice. Order takes around 20-25 min wich gives you a chance to browse the large kosher groceries selection avaiable on the supermarket. Will come back for sure next Atlanta visit.

Yelp
This is bomb dot com It's wheat free and no msg After you eat it you don't feel as gross as other msg filled Chinese foods. If you craving Chinese takeout go ahead and pick this place coz it did the trick. Homeboy who owns it is super super nice and . Inside Kroger.

Yelp
Inconsistent Yet Promising: Chai Peking's Kosher Chinese Togo Experience Nestled within the confines of Kroger, Chai Peking beckons adventurous palates seeking kosher Chinese cuisine. This culinary journey unfolds with moments of delight and hesitation. The chicken fried rice and General Tso chicken dazzle the taste buds, embodying the essence of authentic Chinese takeout. The service, orchestrated by a dedicated management team, orchestrates a seamless and swift dining experience. Yet, shadows mar the experience, casting doubt on Chai Peking's consistency. A return visit revealed overcooked egg rolls and wontons, tainted by the ghost of reused grease. The wonton soup, a beacon of warmth and comfort, falls short, lacking the depth of flavors anticipated. With a discerning eye, I bestow upon Chai Peking a 3/5 star rating. A return is possible, but with a more cautious approach. There lies potential for greatness, should they rectify these inconsistencies. Presently, it serves as a respectable choice for Chinese takeout, albeit with room for improvement.

Yelp
Kosher, located in kroger Tables in front of store or take out I had the $15 lunch special. Choice of Rice, entree, and egg roll. For entree I had general tso chicken. All very good. And ready in two minutes I'll be back.

Yelp
This is a Kosher establishment, I am not their target demographic, as I do not seek Kosher foods. I have noticed that Kosher items are expensive- or at least more so than "regular" products. On a negative point (just my opinion), the prices are high for the portion size. I was expecting to be mad about the tiny size /high price of my "medium" entree- a la carte- hold the rice. But, I can't be mad. This "Chicken with Pepper and Onion" was absolutely delicious. It was fresh, flavorful, aromatic- and it made my taste buds sing. I would order this again without a second thought. If prices were a pinch lower, I would give another star. I do recommend this place-just know what to expect price wise.

Yelp
First off I should had known to turn around when arriving and seeing their 87 B Health Department Score but I already called my order in. Second after noticing only middle aged white guys working a Asian food restaurant should had been another reason to save my money any turn around but I'm not racist or wanted to make any prejudice decisions. Third the price of $30 plus dollars didn't match up with quality of food recieved. I could had went to Panda Express and got something fresher and more bang for my buck. Let's start off with my vegetable egg rolls which were not very fresh tasting or flavorful. Which is very disappointing being they are located inside a grocery store you would think everything is gonna be fresh, especially after advertising as Kosher and all that. Then let's move to my Vegetable fried rice which had barely any vegetables and no color just bland blah maybe a couple peas here and there. Finally my main course of orange chicken was ok and decent. Wish they would had given me more white steamed rice being a ordered a large for $15 and they barely packed my container with rice. Well over all I doubt I will ever be back especially with a 87 Health Department Score. I was definitely fooled by the other reviews stating this place was good and the 4 and a half stars but being inside a grocery store and advertising as kosher I figured everything was gonna be fresh and flavorful.

Yelp
The food at Chai Peking was amazing. The worst part of the experience was getting there via Uber and that wasn't so bad. But the food was amazing. Plenty of it, hot and delicious. I had so much food, I took it on the plane back to Boston. People smelled my Chinese food throughout the plane. I think some wanted me to share. Note: they are inside the Kroger. Very friendly staff.

Melanie L.

Yelp
Delicious, high-quality food and very friendly and efficient staff.

Yelp
Great food ! Soo many choices! Everything I have ever gotten is Delicious ! Call ahead and order so it's easy to pick up and fast !

Yelp
Yesterday was my first visit and I am so impressed. I was having guests over and didn't have the time or energy to cook so I suggested we eat Chinese. Since i'm very skeptical about which restaurant I eat Chinese from, I don't really have a "go-to" place. I decided to consult with my friends on Yelp and decided to call in an order to Chai Peking. I ordered three different entrees: Hunan Chicken, Chicken & Mushrooms, and Chicken & String Beans. I added Fried Rice with each and I ordered 3 orders of Egg Rolls. I had more than enough food for my guests. I was told my order would be ready by 7; it was prepared as requested, I was happy and on my way home. Everyone enjoyed the food. I still had enough to go take for lunch today and my daughter will be eating some for dinner tonight. I probably will be taking the rest for lunch tomorrow. All that to say, it was more than enough food. I'm not sure which dish i liked the best. The Chicken & Mushrooms was sooooo good. The Hunan Chicken wasn't overly spicy but pretty tasty and had plenty of delicious vegetables. I didn't try the Chicken & String Beans. The place is located inside Kroger to the right by the Bakery area. You can't go wrong getting some Chinese Food from here. It's takeout only. There are no tables for you to dine in and be served.

Yelp
Ordered by way of their website at 3:36. General Tso Tofu as I do not eat meat. Order was supposed to be ready at 4:07 and I got there at 4:05. I got my order 4:24. As I waited I watched the front of the house guy opening up containers ( he is not wearing gloves at all) and putting sesame seeds in here and there and then.. take one container of ready food and pour it into another container for another order and wipe things up with the filthiest rag I think I have ever seen in a food establishment - and the rag was NOT in any sanitizer. He finally brings out my order and proceeds to take out a rice spatula from sanitizer to put rice into a container to go and before he scoops the rice, he wipes the spatula on another filthy rag hanging from the shelf above the cooker. When I call him on it, he says he needs to wipe it so the sanitizer doesn't get into the rice.. This is not true if he is using the right sanitizer ( I mean what's the use of sanitizer if you're going to germ it up again by wiping on a filthy rag?) Through all of this no gloves , and had all sorts of paraphernalia hanging from his belt loops that was barely covered by an apron that did not look clean. I spent years in the food service industry. I know what a clean operation should look like . It does not look like anyone in the immediate vicinity had ever taken a ServeSafe class or knew even the basics. In addition, the food itself was not tasty.. a sugar sweet brown sauce with some cayenne thrown in over almost raw green and red peppers and onions and cubes of tofu. There are also brown specs in there which looks like food burn from another order. Not sure if they are using a different pan to cook the vegetarian orders. After the sanitizer issue, I didn't even test the rice. So disappointed! BTW this was a second chance on my part as for the past two years or so I had also experienced what other reviewers described as them simply refusing to take any more orders when calling for a take out, or calling at 4 for a take out order and told I would have to pick up at 7 or being told to call tomorrow to order. They know that there are limited options for kosher take out food in the area so people will just put up with this nonsense. Anyone else would have been out of business long ago. Honestly, if I had not done an online order, and I had just wandered in to Krogers and seen this, I never would have ordered. I will learn to cook Chinese food myself or open a can of beans if I don't feel like cooking, but these guys are not getting any more of my money. Hard Pass.

Beth B.

Yelp
Called a 5:30 pm to leave an order. Was told that they were all booked up for the day and to call tomorrow at 3:00 pm to leave an order for dinner. They close at 7:30 pm. I'm very confused. Why should I order at 3 - 4 hours earlier than I need the food? Poor service.

Alegre C.

Yelp
Very good Kosher Chinese food! Definitely would recommend it and go again. Be careful the spicy food can be really spicy.

Katelin E.

Yelp
Horrible service. Called to place a pick up order at 4pm and they're done taking orders for the day even though online it says last order is 7:30pm. This isn't the first time this has happened. Don't even try unless you plan to wait 2-3 hours for your meal IF they even let you order.

Tina S.

Yelp
Amazing amazing amazing. Great staff, excellent food that is always fresh cooked, and super allergy friendly!

Regina Q.

Yelp
Conveniently located inside Kroger, this is a great spot to grab a quick bite to eat if you're craving Chinese food after doing some grocery shopping. The owner is very friendly and he is fun to talk to. They have an extensive menu and are very accommodating for dietary restrictions. I tried hunan beef and curry chicken, both were solid and tasted pretty good, however I did find them both a bit oily and not that flavorful, but I think next time I'll ask them to modify a bit more to taste. I want to try more of their dishes out next time I'm in the area. Added bonus is that it's kosher!

Mr B.

Yelp
I am in town for a conference and was desperate for fresh food. The entire transaction was smooth and efficient. I needed Gluten Free and Reuven proved to be knowledgeable, accommodating and oh so helpful. The portion size was HUGE and the food was delicious (Kung Pao and hot and sour soup). If you are in town for a trip, this is definitely worth your Uber!

Cindy C.

Yelp
I ordered Hunan tofu. I ended up with a 15$ order of onions and cabbage with 5 slivers of tofu. Oh my god how can they even get away with this. My daughter said next time say no vegetables so that's what I'm going to do. Like honestly nothing in whole container but onions and cabbage! Yuck!!

Bianca B.

Yelp
I won't lie I judged this place by its cover...a good Chinese spot inside of a Kroger? What? And why? Either way I was talked into trying it and I'm really glad I did. The owner was beyond kind. Gave recommendations, charming, even told us how long they've been there and how they stand by their food. The food was great. My partner had the wings with this sort of sticky sauce which was excellent. I had the garlic chicken on one occasions and sweet/sour on another occasion. It was delicious and we've been back since. Only downside is their weird hours, hard to keep up with. Also, the atmosphere...which they can't help but the tables are often messy to even eat. Either way, after being cleaned it's definitely a hidden gem worth a try.

Tina M.

Yelp
This Chinese place is inside The Kroger that I shop at so I decided to give it a try. The owner was very friendly and explained the menu to me. He also gave my son a sucker while we waited. I chose the general Taos chicken hot and spicy. I was hesitant about hot and spicy but he said it was delicious. I came home and my food was great but was not hot and spicy. Maybe there was confusion if I wanted it or not. Either way the food was great. The sauce was a little sweet but I'm sure if I had gotten the hot and spicy version it would have been amazing. I like that it was not super salty and that I could not taste any cornstarch. The breading on the chicken is thick but that's normal Atlanta Chinese. It's actually better than a lot of the American Chinese food that I have tasted on Buford hwy.

Raphael A.

Yelp
We found this unsuspecting Chinese spot in the back of a Kroger and didn't expect much, but decided to give it a shot. The food was excellent, far beyond our expectations. The owner was hanging out in the front, peeling vegetables and schmoozing with us as we scanned the menu. Really cool to see such a hands-on owner, especially one as friendly as himself. 10/10 would go again!

Julia T.

Yelp
You would miss Chai Peking if you weren't looking for it! Tiny, kosher Chinese take-out food located in the Toco Hills Kroger. Totally kosher and delicious. No broccoli served on menu as bugs can be found on broccoli and this would not be kosher, so don't expect the typical Chinese "beef and broccoli" combo. Call in your order ahead of time by calling up their website and full menu on computer. If you order when you get there, you will be waiting awhile as everything is cooked to order. All the people waiting are there for pick-up. It could be cleaner, as I saw an attendant wipe off a take-away container with a random rag and the menus are greasy. The food is unbelievably good.

Anna G.

Yelp
This little gem is hidden inside Kroger, and it's the best Chinese food I've found in Atlanta! The food is fresh and delicious, with no MSG! And it's just a bonus that you can grocery shop while you wait for your food.

Amber M.

Yelp
This was my first visit. All menu items are made to order. Food was excellent. I wanted a chicken dish and was guided to try the Hunan Chicken because I liked spicy and lots of vegetables. The dish did not disappoint! It was fresh and had a perfect amount of spice. I ordered lunch, paid for my groceries and came back to pick up my lunch. Customer service was very friendly and food was still hot, even after my 15 minute drive home. Definitely will be back.

Ashlyn J.

Yelp
I had the sesame chicken and the plain fried rice. I was impressed with the kindness of the owner and the tastiness of the food. I will be back!

William T.

Yelp
Delicious, great service, and made to order! Highly recommend this place! The meat is actually fresh and delicious, not dry and mysterious like many Chinese places. We recommend the egg rolls and the general Tso's chicken.

I P.

Yelp
First time visiting in Atlanta. My son was in the mood for Chinese, I told him not to have high expectations as the kosher Chinese is inside of Kroger's market. I was impressed that menu was long and the food ended up being really delicious AND fresh!! The wontons in the wonton soup were large and tasted so fresh! The broth was perfect for a cold day!! The beef lo mein noodles and the chicken with squash, snap peas and other veggies in clear sauce were delicious as was the orange chicken! Service was direct, yet friendly and thoughtful. Would definitely recommend!!

Ashley G.

Yelp
Best kosher Chinese food! My husband missed the food when he was away with the military and was one of the things he wanted when he came home. We love the sesame chicken, orange chicken, Chinese hotdogs--okay okay everything is super yummy!!

A G.

Yelp
Unbelievable Chinese food which was super surprising seeing as it's a little place inside the supermarket but the guy behind the counter was really friendly & helpful and the food was great quality and tasted wonderful. Def recommend!

Chuck S.

Yelp
Authentic, just like in N.Y. And it's kosher! They even fix me pan fried noodles with the veggies I specify. Where ya gonna find that kind of service?

Sara R.

Yelp
The best quality chinese food in all of Atlanta. Kosher or not. Just look at their cleanliness ratings. The food prep, kitchen, etc is supervised to the highest stds. All well and good but the food is awesome!!! Eggroll and General Tso (chow) beef is the best! and believe it or not, their french fries can't be beat. Inside the Kroger so you can place a to go order, grocery shop and pick up. simple

Steven D.

Yelp
Always the first place I go to when I get off the plane. They always kindly give me plastic place setting for use in the hotel and if I am arriving late, they will leave my order at the Customer Service desk. I have the spicy (Hunan?) beef and veggies. Just delicious.

B L.

Yelp
Love this place! Thanks for existing and for offering kosher food in the area. Super yummy!

An Average J.

Yelp
The place is one of the best. The fresh stream cooked rice and the yummy varieties of chicken, veal, and meat make a great combo. they have literally hundreds of choices, of soups and chicken and egg rolls and everything you could think of that is in any suitable Chinese place. This restaurant is also great if you need a quick, filling meal, and also great if you are hanging out with some friends and want to have a nice General Tso before heading out to the clubs. But beware: Don't eat too much, or you will end up with a stomach ache (like most chinese places).

Bruce H.

Yelp
excellent find says the wife. Food was freshly made, piping hot, huge portions and tasted better than mosy of our neighborhood Chinese restaurants in Alpharetta. Highly recommend

Kayla G.

Yelp
I love it! I'm vegetarian and always get the same thing: broccoli-tofu. I'm not even sure it's on the menu. The broccoli tastes fresh and is cooked to just-crispy, and the sauce is delicious. Consistent every time. My family loves the meat entrees but I've never had.

Michael B.

Yelp
Excellent food - I have eaten here countless times and always have leftovers. My family is thrilled when I announce that I have brought home Chai Peking! And yes even the French fries are Delish!

L M.

Yelp
Wanted to like it. I was visiting from out of town and ordered a lot of food to take back to the hotel. Big mistake. It all tasted the same, same blah dark brown sauce over overcooked vegetables. I seriously couldn't eat much of it. It is too bad since a good kosher chinese place would be nice to have.

Daniel W.

Yelp
A mainstay of the Atlanta Jewish/Kosher community! Pleasant staff, good food, Doesn't quite compare to some of the places in the northeast US, but very good for what it is.
