If you're craving authentic Malwani cuisine, Chaitanya Assal Malwani Restaurant is a must-visit. With three branches—located in Malwan, Dadar, and Andheri—this restaurant has built a reputation for serving traditional Malwani flavors that truly stand out.
I've personally visited their Malwan and Dadar outlets. The Dadar branch is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the iconic Siddhivinayak Temple. While it's smaller compared to the spacious Andheri outlet, it still delivers big on taste and authenticity.
Chaitanya’s menu may not be extensive, but every dish listed is thoughtfully curated and absolutely worth trying. From starters to mains and desserts, they offer a delightful spread in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
I tried the Chaitanya Special Veg Thali, which was a treat! It included
Cashew sabji
Seasonal green leafy vegetables
Kala vatana or valyachi bhirda
For dessert: Modak and Kharvas—both were mouthwatering.
For non-veg lovers, their Prawns Thali is a bestseller and highly recommended. It’s generously loaded with prawns, and you can also try their Pomfret (Paplet) and Surmai Thalis for a rich coastal experience.
No Malwani meal is complete without Solkadi, and theirs is refreshing and the perfect way to end your meal.
The staff is polite, and the service is good. However, during peak hours, expect a wait time of 30–40 minutes. To avoid the rush, especially in the afternoon, try reaching before 1 PM.
