The 14 Best Peruvian Restaurants In Miami

"Believe it or not, there was a time when Peruvian food was hard to find in Miami and some locals gagged at the thought of eating “raw fish” in ceviche form. But since 1985, El Chalan has been giving Miamians a taste of classic dishes from Lima. You’re not going to find the Nikkei fusion and cheffy innovations of many of Miami’s newer Peruvian restaurants here. Instead, this is the place to enjoy old-school dishes like tallarines verdes con apanado, mondonguito a la italiana, and a traditional ceviche mixto. The Bird Road location across from Tropical Park is the OG establishment, but the South Beach location is also a classic in its own right and has the same menu. El Chalan on the Beach Review - Miami Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"El Chalan is one of the oldest Peruvian restaurants in Miami, and both of its locations - Bird Road and Miami Beach - are still popular among Peruvians to this day. The Miami Beach location, just off Washington Ave, used to be quite a dive but has polished up its interiors to keep up with the ever-increasing roster of fancy Peruvian restaurants in town. Fortunately, however, it’s maintained its classic criollo-style menu. This is one of the best places to get hearty dishes like seco de res - chunks of beef braised in a beer and cilantro sauce - and tallarines verdes with bistec apanado, a favorite Italian-Peruvian pasta tossed in a creamy spinach and basil sauce with a breaded steak cutlet." - Carlos C Olaechea

First time trying Peruvian cuisine—and pleasantly surprised! Today I wasn’t feeling well and was looking for a place within walking distance that served a good soup. That’s when I came across Chalan on the Beach, a cozy Peruvian restaurant. I was hesitant at first since I’ve never tried Peruvian food before, but I walked in and asked if they had chicken soup that day—they confirmed, so I gave it a try. I started with the chicken soup, which was comforting and just what I needed. While browsing the menu, I decided to order the Arroz con Mariscos as well—and I’m so glad I did! It was flavorful, rich, and cooked perfectly. Definitely the highlight of my meal. There was a small hiccup with service: my order wasn’t registered initially, so it took longer to be served. However, Paravia, one of the waitstaff, quickly stepped in and turned the situation around. She was kind, supportive, and kept checking on me to make sure everything was sorted—her service made a big difference in my experience. In the end, the food quality and the genuine hospitality (especially from Paravia) made this a great first impression of Peruvian cuisine. I’d definitely come back again—especially for that Arroz con Mariscos!

Google
Love this place, we go every time we're in town. Ceviche is my favorite in south beach and other items I've gotten there were all either REALLY good or above average at worst. This visit we got seafood fried rice which was one of the REALLY good ones. You can't go wrong here and most of the items make good carryout too.

Google
My first time having Peruvian food and it was really good. I had the Grilled Palomilla with fried eggs and plantains with white rice and Peruvian white beans. My wife ordered the chicken sandwich but received the grilled fish sandwich. We were not disappointed. Everything was really good. I would definitely recommend this place.

Birdie Park

Google
The food was like none other. I got the pescado a lo macho and their sangria, and both were mouth-watering delicious. The squid and the shrimp in the bechamel sauce were so tender and soft (and not rubbery at all!) the sauce was so buttery and just melted in your mouth. The sangria was also superb and loaded with pieces of real fruit!!

Google
Yes!! They definitely understand how to make a good ceviche. I’ve been twice (2022 and 2025) and they nailed it both times.

Google
The food was great ! I would come back to try their other foods. The fried rice and ceviche were our favorite. The service was amazing, Elizabeth was our server and she gave the best recommendations.

Google
Authentic Peruvian Flavors with a Cozy Vibe Chalan on the Beach offers a truly authentic Peruvian dining experience right in the heart of Miami Beach. The ceviche is incredibly fresh and bursting with citrusy goodness, while the lomo saltado was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable, especially for the quality of food. The service was friendly and attentive, making the overall experience even better. If you're looking for a laid-back spot with delicious Peruvian dishes, Chalan on the Beach is a must-visit!

Yelp
For Peruvian food, Chalan had always been one of my top places. I used to like Aromas also when they were in that old fast food building. I'm glad Chalan has a location on the beach now. But, its been years since I've been to the other location, close to Tropical Park. The leche de tigre was very good here, with a generous amount of fish in the glass. Lately, I usually just get bits at the bottom at other restaurants. This was much better. Everything else was very good. Tastier than the Peruvian food I've had lately in NYC or around Paterson, NJ. Both of those cities have really good Peruvian food in their own right, they just make it blander up there, not enough sabor because it's made for New Yorkers. And unfortunately, you see a lot of restaurants on the beach now with the same bland food that is not Miami, at least not my Miami. There's far more Peruvian options in Miami compared to when I was young. But this place deserves to stay on the map. This tasted way better than most of the more expensive non-latin food I had on the beach. The service here was much better than the other places around the beach that sneak multiple extra fees. No extra fees here. The staff is nice and they don't upsell hard like some of the other bad experiences I've had on the beach. To be clear, if you're from Miami, you probably aren't on the beach often. But if you do come out here, Chalan is a normal Miami experience as it was before the influencers.

Yelp
I have eaten at Chalan every time I have stayed in Miami Beach. Excellent Peruvian and Latin American fare. The seafood is outstanding! Do yourself a favor and try the various Paella style meals on the menu. You won't regret it.

Yelp
After parking on 9th St, we strolled into this gorgeous restaurant and were allowed to pick our seat. The waiter arrived quickly and was very attentive and helpful when trying to decide on what to order. The food was freshly prepared because it arrived quickly and piping hot. They did lose one star because even though everything was delicious the fish and chips portion could have been substantially larger. When in town, stop by here.

Yelp
The last time in this place, my husband used to like it but finally he doesn't anymore , I used to go because of him but this time he also had a bad experience, the quality of the food is bad, the service is okay, the ambience what ever.

Yelp
What a wonderful lunch we had! Alexandra our waitress was perfect! Attentive and quick. Alexandra Could not have been any nicer or competent ( spoken by a previous waitress!!!) it was a busy lunchtime but our food came out quickly and scalding hot! Had the mixed seafood soup and the yellow rice patella with a spiced green sauce! Perfection. Sorry no pictures as we at it up to fast. Get a window seat so you can watch the passerby for entertainment! Casual attire but a few business men as well.

Yelp
The first thing you should know before eating here is that the service will be excellent. The waitstaff was very kind and attentive and helpful when it came time to order, answering every question we had about the dishes as we were novices on Peruvian cuisine. The food was excellent, I had the Loma soltado, and my wife really liked the pescado al chalan, which was recommended by the server. The restaurant is good for family as well as a good place to go on a date. We definitely enjoyed ourselves.
google avatar

Jin J.

Yelp
The grilled octopus is the reason we continue to visit this spot! Dip in the spicy green sauce and don't forgo the warm bread rolls. We'll fly in from MIA and uber straight to this venue! Amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious Peruvian restaurant. We ordered one app and two entrees. It was a lot of food! The steak and the fish/shrimp dishes were fresh, flavorful, and came out hot. Service was super friendly. Nice casual dining spot for a family night or date night.

Yelp
Food: all the other reviews were right, the ceviche is excellent The smoothie I was convinced to get wasn't good, it's the first one on the menu FYI (wouldn't recommend) Service: our server was hustling, super good Ambiance: very casual

Yelp
Maybe I came on bad night, but the experience and food weren't great as most Peruvian places usually are :( At arrival we were greeted and sat all the way in the back of the restaurant, the waiter didn't show up for about 20mins, at other restaurants they greet you with canchita and free water but not here. She took our order and the soup is supposed to have more rice it's an aguadito not just soup. It was very watery. We also order a jalea mixta and it was ok but the onions are supposed to be pickle and season. These were freshly cut from the onion to the plate, the flavor was so too strong. The waiter didn't not come check on us or ask how was the food, she came around when we were done to pick up the plates.

Yelp
Great for Peruvian when you are on Lincoln road or nearby. I was at the Adobe Max conference and conveniently walked over from the Miami Beach convention center. My favorite things to order is the ceviche, lomo saltado, fried red snapper, and fried rice. The ladies are all so sweet and attentive. They do their best with English which I appreciate. It's a small place nothing fancy about it.
google avatar

Lourdes M.

Yelp
The waitress brought us menus and there was a crawling roach that came from the menus and we immediately got up and left. That was really gross.
google avatar

Tracey Z.

Yelp
We came here purely for dessert. The service was seriously lacking - we never even got water and our waitress took forever to get to us. We tried the flan and the cuatro leches. The flan was super porous - not firmness to it at all and the caramel was very burnt. Did not taste good. The cuatro leches came in a plastic cup with an expiration date on it. Not even homemade. I was not impressed by this place, would not return.

Yelp
Times have changed. My previous review was long ago ... Again it was lunch, only 4 people. The place was fairly empty and the waitress was quite attentive. Our friends ordered a fish tacu tacu and a ceviche and loved it. They commented on how large the portions were. My husband and I shared the large jaleo (a favorite of mine). Nice portions of fish filets, calamari, and some shrimp - all delicious. There could have been a few more pieces of fried yucca. The spicy sauce was just right. I think they were cooking to order as our very freshly fried dish was a bit later than our friends dishes. On a side note, a few weeks ago I friend arrived in town with stomach problems. She was seeking chicken soup. I knew Chalan was near her hotel and recommended it. She loved it, not her mother's chicken soup, but it did the trick.

Yelp
Romantic mood setting if you're looking to get away from the high tourist spots near Espanola Way. I was seated immediately and quickly served, but did not feel rushed to leave, I had the Tallarin Saltado De Mariscos/ Sautéed Spaghetti with Seafood. It was full of fresh shrimp, mussels, and calamari. Very delicious
google avatar

Yelp
Chalán has amazing ceviches and the prices are super reasonable too!!! My husband really likes the lomo saltado, so I must try it out next time too we went to Chalan during lunch however, it was super busy, so we left and came back for dinner and was so happy to have done so... the food is awesome !!
google avatar

Joe T.

Yelp
This place is great. The service is very fast and friendly and the food is delicious. I love the atmosphere inside with the fun music, brick walls and books on the window ledge. Go check this place out!
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
I'm a local and noticed this corner restaurant near Lincoln road for years wondering why it was constantly busy. Finally, I stopped in for dinner and found out why.. the staff is great, our server was sweet, kind, efficient and helpful. The lomo saltado was delicious, fries were nice and fresh. My bf ordered the tacu tacu: a thick beans and rice pancake, that was so flavorful, idk how I've gone this long without trying it! Also, got the red sangria that was delicious. Definitely returning soon :)
google avatar

Sonia H.

Yelp
Although prices have gone up, this is well executed Peruvian seafood for a fair price. A $49 grilled seafood platter easily feeds 2-3 - probably the best value on the menu.
google avatar

Sohan G.

Yelp
Great food and great serving size I got the tacu tacu with lomo dish. This is the skirt steak meat and a peruvian pancake it was really good. I loved the meal. Also got tres leches Soup of the day was also great

Yelp
Typical Peruvian restaurant with southern American flair. Very spacious with lots of Peruvian decorations. The service is always great and straight to the point with making sure you get you food and service you need as soon as possible. The food is great one of the best down to earth cuisine s I've had. Beautiful selections and options to choose from. It helps that they have pictures to reference D's one of their most popular dishes. We been coming here since 2004. We love this place a lot. Literally a must stop as soon as we arrive in SB. Always a must to visit here every time. Thank you all who service this place and for the continued partridge that keeps it open.

Yelp
This is my first time ever going to a puruvien restaurant and trying out their food as well so I was a bit overwhelmed prior to coming here with all my colleagues. We were easily sat down and accommodated upon arrival. The waiter we had was really friendly. Everyone got calamari and mussels which weren't bad at all that I tried a bit to sample but I settled for their pappoya smoothie and their Lomo Saltado which is one of their popular menu items. Absolutely delicious. What I will say that I didn't like about my visit was the restrooms and their terrible music selection while you were dining. It didn't necessarily match with the scenery. Parking will also be a challenge!
google avatar

Yelena P.

Yelp
I came it to order to go my usual creamy sea food soup but what I received something completely different so instead of immediately changing my order they started arguing with me that this is what I ordered when I can see that that is not the same soup that I usually get . This day I'm very busy and I was very hungry. I didn't feel like fighting over soup. All I'm saying is I'm sure they have new management or owners it is not the same place. I would not go back there. I do not recommend it and I've been recommending this place to people, so I would never go back there again, the size portions are smaller quality of service is horrible not good quality of food.

Yelp
Came to Miami with a few girlfriends for a long weekend. We went to a few places, several of them petty upscale, but honestly my lunch at Chalan on the Beach was the best meal I had the whole trip. FOOD: We shared a bunch of things and to be honest, I let my friend order because she had been before. The one thing I do remember getting was the Ceviche Sampler. The ceviche was excellent and the calamari very tasty. Highly recommend! I also enjoyed my passion fruit smoothie. SERVICE: Excellent. No complaints. AMBIANCE: It's a regular casual restaurant. Can wear whatever you want, super relaxed. OVERALL: Excellent food for a good value. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Well deserved five stars!!! The food is so so good and the staff are very friendly! I've been going to the Chalan for years and it never gets old. I absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to have good Peruvian food!! The grilled octopus is a must!

Bria I.

Yelp
Large servings. We got fried rice (arroz chaufa) and shrimp al ajillo. Also got Peruvian beer, which was good. Authentic and great food. Would go back sometime.
google avatar

Ray R.

Yelp
Food is great here. Authentic Peruvian food which is just how I like it. Only issue is is that I guess their AC isn't working well so they have a lot of fans trying to cool the place down that's the only issue. But the food is amazing here

Ruben B.

Yelp
This place did not meet basic expectations on food (not good) nor service (maybe they had a bad day) We ordered two Lomo Saltado, this dish had very little sauce, so complaint that the rice served was old and waiters reply was "here the rice is done daily" Will not visit this place again Thank you

Kavi A.

Yelp
Had some seafood and fried yuca which was so delicious. Succulent shrimp and the fish was so fresh and good. Loved the service. Very sweet ladies
google avatar

Alicia M.

Yelp
We are visiting from California and this place is really delicious. We have tried Peruvian food before and although this place was not comparable to our favorite place, we did enjoy the food...as you can see in the photos. We would definitely come here again and try other dishes!!!
google avatar

Rosemary R.

Yelp
Really good Peruvian food, I eaten here a couple of times already, I have tried ceviche mixto, lomo saltado and jalea , everything was fresh and delicious

Jackie P.

Yelp
DELICIOUS food and great service! We ordered the Ceviche Mixto and the Parillada de Mariscos per recommendation of our great server, Elizabeth Must visit when in Miami Beach!
google avatar

Adam B.

Yelp
With so many Peruvian restaurants serving fancy looking dainty dishes of tiradito, it's nice to find a place to serves huge portions of comfort food. Very basic décor, almost diner-esqe. But the food that comes out of that kitchen is just delicious! Tacu Tacu with Lomo Fino Al Jugo: Everyone is raving about their lomo saltado, but they should really try this dish instead. Same delicious stir fry beef and vegetables, but no fries or boring white rice. Instead you get a supersized tacu tacu, which is essentially like white bean and rice patty griddled up. So many flavors and textures going on. A truly addictive pairing to the lomo. Though my only issue with this dish is that the beef portion felt a little skimpy. Aji de Gallina: Extremely creamy yellow sauce hosting an immense amount of shredded chicken. Almost like a Peruvian alfredo sauce. Half a hard boiled egg and some boiled potatoes too. Served with a mound of white rice, which is essential to sop up all that tasty sauce. Really indulgent.
google avatar

Lawna K.

Yelp
The food was great! Danny was very patient and very knowledgeable with the menu. Would definitely recommend and return.
google avatar

Vicky P.

Yelp
The servers were so friendly and made our dinner so great. The arroz con mariscos was our favorite. It's jam packed with flavor and I highly recommend it. It came with a lot of seafood and was a big bang for your buck. The sautéed spaghetti with seafood was decent but lacked depth of flavor. The portions were very large and came with a lot of seafood (shrimp, calamari, octopus) Definitely recommend this no-frills spot for yummy food!
google avatar

Hannah Z.

Yelp
stopped by this place on a friday evening and the vibes didn't quite hit. there was only one other group that later left, so it did feel a little bit awkward. the staff were nevertheless kind, but we did feel a bit out of place. we ordered the ceviche and pescado con mariscos per recommendation. we didn't realize that it came with a lot of protein and barely any carbs! the fish itself was super delicious, but definitely would have preferred a more balanced meal to be recommended. and, the bill did add up to be on the pricier side. all in all, i would try coming here again maybe at a busier hour and to try something different on the menu.
google avatar

Yelena A.

Yelp
It's across from the beach ,street parking. People very welcoming and service was outstanding !! Thank you for great Experience
google avatar

Raymond S.

Yelp
Very good food. Service a touch slow. I had some kind of beef dish-loved it. The wife had a shrimp soup-not so much. No tap or bar but they did have a Peruvian beer in bottles. I may have crossed them up by paying cash.
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
I was looking around for a place that serves Peruvian food that i haven't tried before, and Chalan looked like it had those dishes. Tacu Tacu is an example, it's a mashed beans with rice dish, and I had it with the red bechamel sauce over fish and seafood mix. It was delicious, and exactly what I was looking for. When I went, it was packed full of folks, and wasn't on a touristy street like Espanola Way or Ocean Dr. I could tell this was a locals place, that served a no fussy and delicious food. It's been around for awhile, and it is my brother's and his friend's (who lives in Miami) go to place. For all the hype that new restaurants try to build up through paying influencers into click-baity videos "the BEST food in South Beach!" it can be hard to find the true gems, but this place is it.

Henry J.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! Wow! Many may not be familiar with Peruvian food but it is really done with excellence at this place. The food is unreal, the service is sincere and welcoming, and the value for such high quality food is unbelievable. I think that this place is a real unknown gem in Miami and should be lined out the door. Memorable meal to say the least.
google avatar

Patricia T.

Yelp
At 4 PM on a Thursday there weren't many dinner options we could choose from. However, we did stumble across this place on Yelp that was open. If you're looking for a casual place by the beach that serves great food this is the spot. We ordered two main dishes (Peruvian Paella and TacuTacu with Lomo Saltado) and an appetizer (yucca). For three people this was just the right amount of food. The Lomo Saltado sauce was delicious and I couldn't stop eating the sweetened onions in the sauce. The fried yucca were also great, not seasoned, but worked perfectly with the dipping sauce. The Paella was pretty standard, but delicious regardless. I would definitely stop by if you're looking for a solid place to get a casual dinner.
google avatar

andreniki s.

Yelp
Honestly, I must admit, I would not normally have thought to go to this place because it's has a lot of fried food, which is not my typical menu choice. However, they have this seafood platter that is fried (which we ordered) or grilled that was really good. The portions are large, so you'll get your moneys worth. It's not overly expensive and the service was good. I will go back again, but there are other places. I would try before I go back there.
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
We visited this place twice so far in the three days that we've been in Miami. We're fans of Peruvian food so we made it a must visit. We're so glad! We can eat here every day. Over the course of two visits so far, we have had beef stew, steak, seafood fried rice, shredded chicken, and finished with coconut flan both times.
google avatar

Christopher B.

Yelp
I have been here once or twice before and the food was always good. Unfortunately this time while celebrating my birthday my partner asked the waitress for anything special that is done for birthdays and was told from a selection of three desserts. What the waitress did not disclose was that it was not complementary and actually charged at full price unless the check was over $100. It was a nice surprise when I returned from the restroom and received the dessert but was shocked and really appalled that we were charged for it under the impression that it was a birthday surprise. I probably won't be back after that left such a terrible taste in my mouth and kind of ruined the entire experience. I'm not sure who owns this place or makes the rules but this was probably one of the stupidest stipulations I've ever had to experience. Very disappointing :(

Robert G.

Yelp
I had lunch here and it was great. They quickly delivered by food after I ordered it and left satisfied. I would definitely come back to this place next time I'm visiting South Beach.
google avatar

Vivian L.

Yelp
Good service and good food. This restaurant is located near the busy tourist areas. The ceviche was alright, we ordered a trio and it was a good appetizer. However, the lomo saltado was really the star of the night. The fried whole snapper was good but it was fried a bit too much so the fish ended up being pretty dry and tasteless - it definitely needed something. Overall, the service was quick and friendly and the food was alright, but it's what I would expect for this area.
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Our first meal in MIA did not disappoint! Such fantastic & tasty flavors and great value at Chalan! Service was also really quick. It's a pretty unassuming, low key place as well. Loved how chill it was. We had the: *Lomo Saltado (Our signature dish. We use only the finest certified Angus beef C.A.B. sauteed with onions and tomatoes then mixed with french fries and a side of white rice.) - The flavors were seriously just PERFECT on this dish. Savoriness from the beef, acidity from the tomatoes, brightness from the onion all on the perfect carby backdrop of french fries and white rice! The beef was also super tender. *Tri-color Fish Ceviche (Ceviche de Pescado tres colores. Served in 3 flavors. Our traditional lemon and lime, aji Amarillo-yellow Peruvian chiles, and rocoto-red Peruvian chiles.) - Tasted super fresh and the flavors were fantastic! Dare I say as good as CVCHE 105?!
google avatar

Jack M.

Yelp
A decent rendition of Peruvian ceviche. The fish was generally fresh. The portion was adequate. The prices are fairly high by ceviche standards, but not for Miami Beach. The roast corn bits do add a welcome crunch and dryness to this otherwise very acidic and wet dish.
google avatar

Morgan M.

Yelp
Chalan on the beach is a great option if you're feeling some peruvian cuisine! They have dine in area inside and a couple tables located outside the establishment. The service was great. Very friendly and attentive. I had the calamari as a appetizer which was served with a small salad and yuca which was great. Lomo saltado is highly recommended! It's a good portion size and very tasty. I will definitely be back here and I will be reordering the lomo. Yessss you should definitely come eat here, you're welcome :)
