On our way into San Jose, we caught eye of this Brazilian Steakhouse right off Hwy 152, so the family decided to make a stop here to try it out as part of the celebration for my sister's graduation.
We were seated promptly and they brought beverages to the table quite quickly. However, they failed to mention that each bottle of mineral water will cost $6 ... now that is steep for water; might as well order actual beverages in that case.
The all-you-can eat salad bar part was so-so. They have a variety of roasted veggies such as roasted bell pepper, roasted zucchini, egg plant, broccolini, make-your-own plate of salad, bland, farmed salmon, devils eggs, salami and cheese. None of these salad bar food items were any good. It's more of a filler and to get your greens in.
As for the meats... so they have these round table cards on each table where you place the green side up to inform them you are ready for more meat versus the red side up indicates to hold off on the meats. I noticed that once you "skip" a round of a specific meat cut, they will NOT come back again with that same cut, so be forewarned about "skipping." For the weekend and dinner menu, they have the following meat cuts...
Filet mignon, ribeye, fraldinha (bottom sirloin), garlic sirloin, pincanha, bacon wrapped steak, bacon wrapped chicken, beef rib, Alcatra (top sirloin), linguica (pork sausage), chicken legs/drum stocks, grilled pineapple. I was disappointed that they didn't ask if we wanted rare, medium, or well-done cuts of meat. They just sliced from whatever cut they wanted, which led us to feel a lot of their cuts were undercooked/ too rare, or too tough. The only thing good (in our opinion) was the rib eye and grilled pineapple. Forget the different cuts of sirloin ... they all tasted the same.
The complimentary fried polenta sticks, caramelized banana, cheese bread balls at the table were at least palatable though.
Of note, during my meal, I ended up finding a worm in my dish. I think it was from the salad, which I understand can happen because it is hard to wash those lettuces, but they way the management/staff went about handling the situation after we brought it to their attention was abysmal. #1 - as soon as I pointed it out, they told me they "would inform the manager." 15 minutes later, no one came by. The meat rounds also stopped coming by. #2- after reminding them again of what I found, they took my dish and told me "they would let the manager and chef know." #3 - no manager ever came by to apologize. I am not asking for anything (ie. a free meal), but at least an apology or acknowledgement would do.
Lastly, the ladies restroom was filthy. They didn't even have toilet paper holders; the toilet paper rolls sat loose on top of the toilet paper holder or all over the dirty floor. For such a nice aesthetic out on the dining floor, this was unexpected and a turn-off.
For ~$75/person, this place is not worth it. If the quality of their meats were better, service was more hospitable, and you come during M-F for lunch for $49.95, then maybe it's worth it. However, as for my family and I, this will be the one and only visit.
