"Chancho King in the Murray Hill neighborhood is dishing out incredible Ecuadorian fare for a fair price. Start with the maduro con queso, or sweet plantains topped with cheese, peanut sauce, and a spice and ground peanut blend called salprieta. The hearty sandwiches at the restaurant are not to be missed either. One of the most unique is the choripan, which piles spicy chorizo, herby chimichurri, tangy pickled red onions, and creamy aioli all in one bite." - Megan duBois

What an amazing gem for Jacksonville, a locally owned restaurant that has a Friday late night menu and a ceviche/seafood brunch Sunday that is the best food in Jacksonville. They deserve a James Beard award, so if you are a chef that can nominate restaurants and are in Jacksonville for some reason (apologies) - Go to Chancho King on Sunday! During the week, they have amazing sandwiches for $7-8 which is a steal. Great owners and great staff that will make you feel at home.

This was a random find that really blew us away. I heard about the food truck associated with a local brewery, so I decided to investigate their menu. The menu was one sided, so that already gave me hope. The second sign was that the food had a combination of unique flavors. We wound up going to their main storefront and was greeted by a friendly staff member that gave us the rundown. The restaurant was clean inside with ample seating, and the restrooms were great as well. The hanging plants really opened up the space. After getting our food we could tell we were in for a treat. The chicken, rice, plantains, everything - was seasoned well and the perfect temperature. We devoured almost everything and definitely took leftovers. Considering what Jacksonville has this is definitely top tier and the city is lucky to have this place.

Deeeeeeeeeeeelicious! The cheese lady at Grater Goods sent us here and we loved it. We got the pork sandwich, empanadas, and plantain chips plus a passion fruit agua fresca. Everything tasted great. We can’t wait to go back and work our way through the menu.

Google
The place has a vibey atmosphere, and the staff is very friendly, offering great recommendations for both food and drinks. We ordered the pork rice bowl with a fried egg and pan de yuca. The pan de yuca was delicious—light, buttery-soft, and paired perfectly with the aioli. The bowl itself looked small at first, but the portion was just right for a quick bite. It had a well-balanced mix of savory and acidic flavors. The pork wasn’t overly fatty, yet it was tender, with the fat melting in your mouth. The pickled onions were well-prepared, adding a nice contrast without overpowering the dish. 10/10 recommend!

I'll be coming back here again. This place had great tasting food and decently priced. The service was helpful and relatively quick. Beer selection was good too, a few local beers on tap which is always welcomed. The chicken dish was super flavorful; savory and that sauce mixed with the rice was awesome. The pork was not dry and had a great taste. Loved the chicharrones as well. It was all a hit!

Google
I was recommended here for some good food, and they were absolutely correct. Was greeted with an awesome welcome and smile from the lady behind the counter. I love locally owned restaurants. The people are more down to earth, and she this young lady was that. With her recommendation, I went with Arroz Con Menestray Carne with pork as my protein and a small side of some real good hot sauce. The portion was a good one, and the flavors were wonderful. I wish I would have ordered a side of their pickled red onions, I saw them going out on the sandwichs on several orders. I learned they have a special menu on Fridays from 9pm until midnight and also on Sundays. So I'll definitely be back for that in the near future. Give your taste buds a treat and give them a try...

Google
First off, always exceptional service, no matter who is running the register. They seem excited to be at work, happy to share their knowledge of the menu and work hard to make sure exactly what you want. Parking can be an issue, so if you’re meeting someone you may want to show up a little early because there will be parking, but it may not be right in front or behind the storefront. Don’t let that scare you, there is plenty of parking in that area, just not in front of The King. But you really want to know about the food: Plantains – really good but a very small portion for an appetizer but the sauce with it is AMAZING. Fried Cheese - bigger portion but served with the same amazing sauce. Rice bowl - rice bowls are similar to the sandwiches, just without the bread. So if you’re gluten-free, rice bowls are a good option. Pork sandwich - this is what they do best, juicy marinated pork, serve with pickled onions, and fresh bread is an absolute fantastic sandwich. I don’t know why I don’t head over to Chancho King more, well I do know because it is not near my work anymore. When I have time and don’t mind driving a little bit, The King is where to go

Google
I was a bit thrown off because I saw the Ecuadorian flag and was anticipating a traditional latin restaurant, when I went in was a complete different vibe. Very artsy and modern, gave me Williamsburg Brooklyn vibes, reminded me of home. Now the service was excellent, very welcoming and the gentlemen that was greeting was super knowledgeable and very patient. Im do sorry I forgot his name but I know he's greek. He was world class with his customer service. As you can see I had the pesto pasta with steak and it was delicious. What a great presentation and the flavors were spot on. Shout out to the entire team. This place is a Gem and I look forward to having dinner there on my next visit. Thank you

Yelp
This 5 star review is only based on Sunday Seafood Brunch menu. The food, flavors and combinations are over the top. Note - first time I have had Ecuadorean cuisine. Had 2 different flavors of the ceviche served with deep fried plantain chips. Used the chips to eat the ceviche, perfect pairing & both flavors were fabulous. Tried 3 different items, grilled octopus (beautifully charred), fried red fish (perfectly fried) and lappingacho (rice, fried type plantain dish w/peanut sauce, dried & cooked chorizo(nothing like any chorizo I tasted), avocado, topped with fried egg). All three were very good but what really sent them to the next level were the side sauces that were so flavorful and accented each entree perfectly. This is not a restaurant with great ambiance and service is not over the top but the employees are very personable and nice. HOWEVER, if you want your taste buds to pop and looking for a delicious seafood type Sunday brunch, this is the place.

Yelp
Having grown up in Ecuador I missed the simplicity and tasty food of the country. Found this place earlier this year but until yesterday I hadn't had a chance to try it out. I'd give it 10 stars if I could bc it brought back a lot of my childhood memories from Quito and Coca and Esmeraldas and Manta and Guayaquil Will definitely be going back multiple times!! Thank for being 10mins away from me!!

Yelp
I remember coming to Chancho King at a variety of events around town. At the time I tried their Cuban and was delighted at how delicious their food was. I was super happy when they decided to open up a brick and mortar location. My first time visiting I got the chicken rice bowl and the pan de yuca. Absolutely delicious! I am so addicted to their chancho aoil sauce. Totally recommend both of those dishes. I would say the pan de yuca is a super popular item here. The restaurant is perfectly located in Murray Hill and there is ample parking right outside the building. The location is well lit, nicely decorated, and clean. There are tables for sit in and of course the option to take away. The staff is friendly and got my order to me efficiently as I waited for my to go order to be prepped. Great local spot here in Jax!

Yelp
I saw them but I never stopped, under the bridge by foodtruck and now brick & mortar. I saw the great reviews by friends and on the internet and knew there would be a time and when that time came I visited there twice in a week as they were found delicious! Those empanadas so light and tasty, came as a mixed of lentil and chicken and cheese--even better dipped in their house sauce The chicken sandwich, served with pickled onions and fresh bread, is an absolute fantastic sandwich! I definitely will return for these items again and hopefully continue sampling the full menu.

Yelp
I really enjoy Chancho King's chicken sandwiches and their fruity drinks. The counter staff is most pleasant and welcoming. Even though I'm a "small buyer" and just once a month, they cooperate with me about my onion allergy. I don't eat in but the tables and decor are inviting! They now offer a Tres Leché desserts! I must try them!

Yelp
I'm going to start this review by saying this is the best food I've ever had in Jacksonville in almost 26 years. Also to be clear: we went during the Sunday Ceviche Brunch, so these items are not regularly available throughout their normal weekday/Saturday business. When my fiancé and our friend asked me to join them for a trip to Chancho King's ceviche brunch on Sundays, I had absolutely no idea what to expect. I hadn't looked up possible menu items ahead of time, since I'd heard that for the most part, every single Sunday Ceviche Brunch has a different menu of fresh ingredients, so I figured I'd be surprised and hope that this picky eater could find something a little more bland to choose from. I've never been more glad that I stepped out of my comfort zone of traditional americanized food to try this beautiful Ecuadorian cuisine and spin on classics. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and had the offer of having the entire menu explained to us, or just the items we were interested in. Since we got there right as they opened and there wasn't a rush yet, we opted to hear about every unique dish, which just made my mouth water like crazy! It's a small area to sit in, so I recommend getting there early if you don't want to sit on a stool. We were able to get a table and the dishes just kept coming out! We opted to try a little of almost everything together. The lobster tiradito was incredible - almost like sashimi, it was poached lobster meat presented like a Michelin starred restaurant. Equally as outstanding were the grilled octopus and shrimp al ajillo. What blew me away were the beau soleis - I actually ordered a second plate of them since the melt-in-your-mouth texture and flavor were too fleeting for me! I could have had 6 plates of it and never gotten tired. The truffle risotto isn't something they would typically introduce - they told us they had a private party the night before and were able to serve this since they had extra ingredients (until it ran out). I implore them to think about adding it into rotation every now and then, because WOW! The flavor was bold but still complemented every other dish, and felt like something they would pair with the grilled octopus. If I had to be nitpicky, I might wish that rice was offered as a side if you order 2+ dishes off of the ceviche brunch menu, since a few of the dishes would be complemented extremely well with rice alongside it. I have never been more impressed with what looks like an unassuming local restaurant that started as a food truck. This is a must-visit for anyone looking for fresh, authentic food, especially from a local restaurant. Every person working there was incredibly kind and just as excited as we were for us to try the food. I cannot wait to come back, as I'm eager to see what they come up with next.

Yelp
I honestly did not know that Chancho King existed until yesterday and I'm happy to say that it's made my life just a little bit better. We stopped in for dinner after a wine tasting at Bernie's and it was a perfect way to end the day! Quick and easy to order your meal/drink, fast service, tasty food. I got the passionfruit agua fresca and it was SO flavorful and a nice treat. The rice bowl with pork literally was a flavor bomb - I could not believe how tender the pork was and how well seasoned the entire dish was. I loved the lentils that were mixed in, plus that sauce was to DIE FOR. I could probably drink a bowl of it and have no shame. The sweet plantains were cooked perfectly and once again, that sauce... phenomenal. It's a super chill spot with friendly staff - very cozy and easy, I loved it. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I happened to be in the area on a Saturday and I was looking for lunch from a place that I hadn't been too. Chancho King was my pick. I called in my order and drove over. When I arrived, it was ready. I ordered the pork sandwich with no hot pepper aji and the and pan de yuca. They packed the pork rinds separate from the sandwich, which I thought was a nice touch to preserve the crunchiness. I was planning to eat it at home but it smelled delicious so I bit into it in the car. The sandwich was delicious, but fortunately it was very soggy. The onions caused the wrapper to disintegrate, and the bottom half of the bread was inedible which was unfortunate as the pork was so moist and tender and the onions added just the right amount of acidity. The sandwich was small though and the onion to meat ratio wasn't proportional. There were way too many onions. And unlike other customers, I didn't get any plantain chips with my sandwich. What I loved though was the pan de yuca. Hot, cheese bread is the best and their version was excellent. Overall, what I tried was good. Perhaps if you eat in the restaurant the sandwich is better as it wouldn't be turned vertically in packaging leading to the extreme sogginess of the roll. This is a good, inexpensive meal.

Yelp
Amazing made to order home style Ecuadorean food. Love the Llapingachos and oysters. I'm a regular!!!

Monica A.

Yelp
Food is amazing. Sauces are genius , smooth and authentic. We got the savory plantain with the peanut sauce. The cheese appetizer came recommended by the staff ( always love when something is recommended) and absolutely delicious and once again smooth flavors. The shrimp was delicious served with an awesome sauce that I cannot even describe..perfection. Service was top notch professional and courteous. Loved the art .. the pig on a fork .. not lost on us. Bathrooms and restaurant area .. sparkling clean

Kelsey D.

Yelp
Ok, I've been to the brick and mortar, to go ceviche at arts market, and now the food truck. Chancho king is 100% the shit and been amazing for all three experiences. This food is so amazing and so flavorful. This chorizo is off the hook and not spicy make you run to the bathroom kinda greasy feeling. Never in my life have I had such flavorful solid chorizo that tasted so flavor packed and lean. The bread on sandwiches is always perfectly crispy but not too hard or soft. The aioli, dude, I could drink it! I put it on everything! Those baby empanadas are so perfect sized, the sandwiches come packed so I appreciate the appropriately sized empanada Go eat. It's amazing. You can not go wrong. I don't even like pork but this simple Sammy is off the hook

Yelp
Stopped by Chancho King recently on a brunch recommendation and it was everything I was told and more. Charming place, great ambiance, with use of music, hanging plants and just the energy of what a great neighborhood restaurant should be. We were greeted immediately, service was great and the entire staff seemed to take pride in what they did. Since it was our first time, the menu was explained to us in detail and quite frankly, with passion. Everything we ate was authentic, fresh, flavorful, extremely well done. -Ceviche with plantain chips. The eclectic combination of flavors, meats and vegetables with the perfect spice to add. The plantain chips are next level. In fact, they sell these and only these at RAM every week and I'm sure they sell out. Fresh, flavorful, crispy, delicious. -Shrimp Al Ajillo - buttery shrimp with the perfect amount of garlic and THE perfect bread selection for dipping. This was fantastic. -Charred Octopus - This was my favorite. That's probably why there is no picture. The octopus was hearty and flavorful, the sauce and bread the perfect accompaniment. The crew here are genius with what type of bread to use to accompany all of the dishes. -Oyster Toast - Fried oysters, perfect consistency, perfect sauce, again great crusty bread selection and tomato flavor. -Spanish Tortilla - Transformative breakfast fare. Hearty with potato inside. A must try if it's available. Highly recommend Chancho King for brunch. As great as everything was, the menu is changed weekly and I can't wait to try what else they have to offer. This is what neighborhood dining is supposed to be.

Yelp
We were welcomed in immediately by friendly staff. Since this was the first visit for 2 of 4 of our group, we happily welcomed the full rundown of the Sunday menu. Everything described seemed amazing and we made the difficult decisions on menu items to share amongst our group. Our group order included ceviche, grilled octopus (forgot to snap a pic), oyster toast, Spanish tortilla, and shrimp Al Ajillo. Everything was fantastic and felt like we were treated to a meal made with love in someone's home. For me, my favorite was the shrimp in the garlic broth that paired perfectly with the sliced bread. Glad we finally made it here and know we will be back often since it's so close to home.

Yelp
Affordable, Delicious, Unique spot in Murray Hill. Ecuadorian Cuisine that has hit the mark and then some every time I've been. My pork sandwich was well seasoned, with juicy meat, fresh pickled onions, soft bread and I always add an egg but that's down to your personal preference. The chips that come with are light and airy and really complement the dish and become heavier as they soak up the succulent juice from the pork. Plantains and empanadas are a perfect pairing with your main or as a quick bite alongside a coke. Both are expertly cooked and the empanada dough really nailed the texture without being overwhelming. This is a simple spot, with great staff. I'm eager to come back for Sunday Ceviche and try even more from the menu.

Lea P.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try Chancho King and heard so much about their Ceviche on Sundays. Unfortunately, most of the Jaguars games are on the same day so we went on a Saturday instead. They have limited parking in front but thank goodness there were spots available. Very spacious inside and the staff were very nice and accommodated our questions as it was our first time. Hubby and I ordered the following: Llapingacho- This has cheese potato cakes, rice, peanut sauce, fried egg and chicken as my choice of protein. I ordered this and enjoyed the combination of flavors. I love the sauce that came with the chicken, so yummy with rice. However, the serving was small! The plate they use for their dishes is not the usual size of a main meal plate. We knew immediately we will not be full with the portion. Seco De Pollo - Leg and thigh chicken stew with rice and plantains. The chicken was tasty and we both liked it. Overall, we will still come back and try the Ceviche. I hope it will be a bigger portion. :)

Yelp
GREAT EVER.Y.THING! Super cute story of formerly being a food truck and now owned by a married couple is #goals. From the vert moment we walked through the door we received a warm welcome. (I'm literally writing this review 5 months later and can remember how great this place was to dine in!!). They explained/broke down all thr menu items and made some popular recommendations. All of the food was delicious so I took my first stab at ceviche ever and when I tell you the flavor was AMAZING. We tried different meals to split and you can't order anything wrong in this place. Lastly their in house hot sauce was so good I ended up buying a bottle to take back home with me as I was only visiting.

Monnica K.

Yelp
I went here to celebrate my friend's birthday! The place is so cute and has such a chill atmosphere. The server was awesome and told us we can mix the rice and plantain bowl so we both did that. I got pork, which was so tender and flavorful!! The plantains were the perfect texture, and the pickled red onions added such a nice crunch and tangy flavor. We also got the yuca balls which were SO GOOD. We almost ordered more because we loved them so much. Last special shoutout was that they were out of hot sauce, so they gave us another kind of hot sauce and OMG it was BOMB. It added the perfect heat and flavor to the bowl. Overall a 10/10! I'm so glad I finally got to try Chancho king!! Will definitely be back.

Adeline L.

Yelp
TLDR; Chancho King is an awesome, counter service spot featuring tasty Ecuadorian cuisine in a casual environment, with friendly service, and a nice vibe. My husband and I are Murray Hill residents and are sooo happy to see a place like Chancho King in the neighborhood! We went on a weekday evening and it was pretty busy, but not packed. Service is friendly and helpful, though we both knew what we wanted. It's a fast, casual counter service restaurant so you order at the register and they bring your food out. FWIW can I just say I love the music they play? I've found myself Shazamming at least one song each time I'm there. In terms of the food, I loved my pork rice bowl. It had the perfect blend of savory and tangy from the pickled onions. And it was a very generous serving size (it looks deceivingly small in the bowl). Pork (I'd call it lechon) can be very dry, but theirs has no issues with that- I don't get any sauce on mine, so that would be hard to hide. My husband loved his seco de pollo, but I wasn't a fan. Can't say why because it has some similarities to fricassee de pollo, which I love, but it has some sort of sweetness to it that I wasn't fond of. The maduros (sweet plantains) that came with it were great though! And the chifles (plantain chips) were awesome, especially with the sauce it's served with. Oh and don't skip out on the rotating flavors of agua fresca! My favorites are passion fruit and pineapple. As an aside, as a Latina, it makes me super proud to see fellow Latines highlighting their culture and food! Even being born and raised in Miami, I had never had Ecuadorian food so I'm so happy to have Chancho King here to expand all of our palates, haha.

Madison L.

Yelp
SOOOO FREAKIN YUMMY !!!!!!!!! absolutely no leftovers were had that day. and what a cool place to sit and enjoy such an incredible meal! we sat by the window but anywhere would be great. all the natural lighting was wonderful. gave it such an open feeling. not only was the atmosphere bright and nice, the service was just as well !!! everyone was so kind and smiley ! food came out as it was ready which is great because wooooowie those cheese yuca bites are out of this world. hot and fresh and gooey goodness ! the sauce as well had my mouth watering. luckily the rice bowl is topped with the same aioli. cant get enough of it ! what a filling and tasty meal that rice bowl is ! all incredible tastes and textures. also the dish-ware is so fun and cute. we can't wait to come back and eat some more !!!!!

Matt M.

Yelp
Wow, this small spot packs on some serious flavors. I had a friend who wanted to try this spot, so we made the drive to the Murray Hill area to give it a try. When we walked in, it looked familiar, was this the first location of Community Loaves? I think it was, but it looked real different with a slightly new layout and color scheme. Parking is normally easy, except at peak times like the lunch crowd. I parked across the street, but it was an easy walk, but the food?????????? Chips - homemade, thin and crunchy. A nice side. Chicken sandwich - I don't know what I expected, but it was really really good. What made it special were the garlic aoli on one side of the bun and encurtido on the other side. Now I am not sure what an encurtido is, but o know that it was delicious. Pork Sandwich - okay, this was truly EPIC. Pork with hot pepper aji, mild tomato aji, lime pickled red onions and topped with a pork crackling. As a disclaimer, I have no idea what an aji is. My daughters have allergies to gluten and dairy, so they have suggested I include options for non-allergic options. Gluten free options - yes, instead of a sandwich, they have bowls with rice and assorted toppings. Dairy free options - there seem to be a few options, but you will need to ask if anything is cooked in butter. Here is to good eating.

Primrose M.

Yelp
It was my first time here and I guess I was lucky because apparently Sundays is Ceviche Bar Day! With an assortment of seafood, the dish did not shy away from loading up with red fish, shrimp and octopus. There was a punch of sourness and mild heat. With the left over broth, tried it with the chifles and it was great! The ambience is relaxed and it seemed like quite the popular joint for a Sunday. Will try to come back on a regular day to taste other food on the menu.

Zoe C.

Yelp
This is the best restaurant in Jax! The food is incredible, the staff feels like family, and you can tell the people who work there really care about the community. I take all of my friends here whenever I get the chance. I can't recommend enough! I love the empanadas and the sandos

Justine L.

Yelp
Delicious and fresh food. very cute place and amazing service. Highly recommend the pork

Jason C.

Yelp
This place is a gem. The food is out of this world good. And we love the clean and fresh interior. I had the fish dinner and they made 3 chicken bowls for my kids! We often come for lunch and have the sandwiches. So good.

Lynnea B.

Yelp
I have been a fan of Chancho King since the Riverside arts market days. I then became a regular visitor at the ceviche bar on Sundays while they were building their brick and mortar store, and I have finally gotten the honor of now having a meal there. Chancho King is the best Latin food in Jacksonville hands-down. Every dish is crafted with playful flavors, innovation, and spunk! Let's start with the cheese and leak empanadas , these were classic flavors that comforted my pallet. I have never seen this dish on the menu before, but Chancho King raises the standards for every other place! And then had the classic rice bowl, which is the perfect balance of acidity with the rice and onions and savory meat. I love to dip my plantain chips in this goodness, and I even topped it off with guacamole and their signature hot sauce! Man, do they make a good hot sauce. As usual, everything was delicious, and the employees were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable Next time I go, I plan to try the house beer!

Rachel T.

Yelp
I'm excited to leave a 5 star review for Chancho King on this year's #thankyouthursday! I have eaten from this pop up tent many, many times, and finally made it into their new restaurant! When I first moved to Jacksonville earlier this year, I was introduced to Chancho King at the Sip and Stroll event in San Marco. I had seen the hype on IG and was excited to try! The owner Chason was so friendly and welcoming! I tried the ceviche with plantain chips, and my boyfriend got the pork sandwich. We were in love! I get the ceviche at the Riverside Arts Market and have also tried the rice bowl with mushrooms and other toppings. I watched them painting the sign at the new Murray Hill location and anxiously waited for them to open. My friend and I visited for a Friday lunch and loved everything we tried. I went with the llapingacho: Cheese potato cakes, rice, fried egg, peanut sauce, mushrooms. OMG the peanut sauce was amazing. It was so flavorful! My friend tried the rice bowl with pork over rice mixed with lentils, hot pepper aji, mild tomato aji, lime, an egg, avocado, and Chancho aioli. We shared a side order of sweet plantains with a delicious dipping sauce. The prices are reasonable for the amazing food made from scratch here. We also tried the agua fresca which was passionfruit. The employees were awesome again and really made us feel welcome. I can't wait to go back soon!

Laura S.

Yelp
Wow! Came here after a great work out at First Coast cross Fit and had the best meal ever Their signature peanut sauce on the ceviche is amazing. I ate a lot of ceviche on Peru but this is hands down the best I have had Ever - I mean ever The grilled octopus with the chimmiichirri was cooked perfectly Great menu and great Sunday specials Shout out to Duffman and Amanda for great service

Matt M.

Yelp
Best restaurant in Jacksonville hands down. Great people, amazing food. They have a special seafood menu on Sundays and a late night menu on Friday nights. You'll love it.

Genevieve L.

Yelp
Cant comment on service or ambiance because food was picked up by my sister and we ate picnic style. She did say it was busy. Was excited to try based on all the reviews. Huge disappointment! I had the chicken sandwich which was just ok. My sister had the chorizopan sandwich which was WAAAAAY to salty to the point that it wasn't edible. My nephew had the pork bowl with rice and lentils which was the opposite-no taste at all! The saving grace was empanadas at least we had that. May consider giving it another chance and dine in

James D.

Yelp
All I can say is... this is in Jax?! We had some expertly grill octopus, literally melt in your mouth. A beautiful and refreshing ceviche. A unique octopus and potato terrine. And literally the most expertly cooked red fish I've ever had in my life. Literal definition of perfection on that fish. Guess I'm late to the party on this one!

Audrey A.

Yelp
To quote Nacho Libre....."Chancho----I need to borrow some sweats....." My friends, put on your stretchy pants and get to Chancho King. This Ecuadorian Diner is known for their tender, flavorful pork. But if pork is not your thing, they have a choice of other proteins and a vegetarian option for your liking. The diner is in the heart of Murray Hill and the perfect addition to all this neighborhood has to offer. We ordered the following: Ceviche - highly recommended, you get a savory tomato based sauce and perfectly cooked octopus and shrimp. Empanadas - fried corn based dough stuffed with chicken and chorizo served with a delicious dipping sauce. The empanada flavors change so can't wait to try others. Chifles - thinly sliced green plantain chips that were crispy, light, and deliciously seasoned Patacones con queso - savory twice fried green plantains with cheese and topped with a peanut salt - loved the flavors of this dish -- peanutty goodness; highly recommend Arroz con menestras: you get your choice of protein, we went with pork and it was a filling and flavorful beans and rice plate Llapengacho - I added pickled red onion and the house made hot sauce on the side; the hot sauce has a kick - loved the heat and the spices; and the meal as a whole was one of the best things I've eaten in awhile. The peanut sauce and the cheese potato cakes were the perfect combination. The pork is so tender and moist, literally falls apart. The entire plate is packed with layers of flavor and textures. I would order this again and again. Aside from the mouthwatering food, loved the service and decor. Plants that are for purchase filled the entire space, it's open, well lit, and clean. Overall, it was a tasty experience. I ate way more than I should have, but would do it again.

So delicious. We stopped for lunch at the new brick and mortar space (we've had the truck at Aardwolf but wanted to check out the store). We had the empanadas, which were so delicious and we were so hungry we ate them before I could snap a picture. The flavor of the day was chorizo - delicious. Salty crusty exterior and delicious filling of ground chorizo, and the chancho aioli always delicious. We got the pork sandwhich and the chorizo sandwhich for lunch. The chorizo is a whole sausage sliced and crisped crispy with pickled onions and chancho aioli on crusty bread. Really good - super savory with a nice blast of acid from the onions. The pork sandwhich is also excellent. Pulled pork chicharones, some spicy sauces - really good. Not crazy spicy, a nice lingering heat. Sandwiches come with plaintain chips. Not to mention the prices are amazing - easily one of the best values around. Service is always great at chancho and the place is full of beautiful green plants all over. Love this place. 5/5!

Yelp
Sooooo good!! great prices for the amount of food! I absolutely LOVED the pan de yuca; they are so cheesy and stretchy and addicting! The amount of delicious pork they stuffed into this sandwich was actually insane.. and with those pickled onions.. so so good! It even came with some plantain chips on the side! All the employees were super friendly! Will definately be back!

Yelp
Ive been to the Chancho King Food Truck before but have been waiting for the opportunity to check out the brick and mortar location. I got the brick and mortar location and wow! The food was to doe for! I got the empanadas as an appetizer and the plantain bowl with pulled pork. The place was set up in the fast casual layout. The customer service was top notch! It was an great experience to visit Chancho King in person.

Yelp
I finally made it to Chancho King and I'm soooo happy, I've followed them for few years now but never made it to the weekend market. So my first visit was middle of the week @ lunch, I ordered the pork sandwich and pork rinds and the cheesy yuca fritter clouds, I'll get correct names to describe the pictures included. Anyway the pork sandwich has been on my radar for some time now and it was amazing! The tender and flavorful pork is so good and the pickled onions acidity cut through the "juiciness" (aka fattiness) of the pork and the crunch and flavor of the chicharrón (pork skin crackling) stepped the sandwich up, it was synergy! I also had an aqua fresca, flavors were passion fruit and blackberry, I had a combination of the two and it was delightful and not overly sweet. So Sunday I went back for ceviche brunch and it was also amazing! It was packed, every table and chairs at the bar were full with very happy people. We ordered with hopes a seat would be available by time our food was ready, which it did. The grilled octopus was out of this world, so good! Cooked perfectly, it was so tender and chargrilled flavor, along with grilled bread and chimichurri, it was fantastic and probably the highlight of the meal for us, then we also had a dozen raw oysters They were extremely fresh and clean, nicest I've had in a while, served with a mild sauce, not sure what it was, I wouldn't order them again, only because of my old ways, preference to have Tabasco and crackers. We each had ceviche, you have choices of fish, shrimp &/or octopus and three different bases a tomato based, traditional citrus based and the house special one with citrus and added peanut. We ordered the last two and both were delicious. Even though the staff were super busy and working hard, they were all super friendly, and genuinely happy to have the crowds. I highly recommend this restaurant during week or Sunday brunch!

Yelp
Lunch date with great friends. Chancho King is a gem for Jacksonville. Their food is great everyday, but they put it to a whole new level on Sunday. Their culinary skills really shine and the experience was very enjoyable. The service was awesome and the people were super friendly!

Yelp
DELICIOUS!!! OMG you guys must try this amazing restaurant. The food is so so good. Love it. I apologize about the aesthetics. The food had no chance of making it home. I ate it before pulling out of the parking lot. Lol ‍

Yelp
Love the mushroom sandwich and the pork sandwich!! Pickled unions are so delicious!! Great chips too! Customer service was perfect! Adorable atmosphere and very clean restaurant.

Yelp
I had their first success, the pork sandwich. Hubby had the chorizo sandwich. The plantain chips are much better than potato chips. We ordered some plantains (Maduros). The sauce it comes with is better with the plantain chips than with the plantains. Garlicky! They were very good! We washed out food down with a glass-bottled Coca-Cola! The employees are friendly! Not good for large groups. About 6 tables and "bar" seating. We will definitely come back!

Yelp
Best food in Jax at a great price point. These are amazing people and they set a great vibe.

Yelp
Love this place. I've only been twice but the food is SPOT ON every time I go. It's quickly become my favorite place in Jacksonville.

Yelp
Just happened to walk by this fabulous Ecuadorian place... and found another treasure of Jacksonville! For me the acid test for a great (not good, but GREAT) restaurant that serves octopus is the octopus. Oftentimes rubbery, octopus is very difficult to get just right. I ordered it to go, just to see the skill of the chef. Here, it was done beautifully! The chef knows exactly what he is doing. As for service...you'll meet some of the nicest people working their hardest to make sure you have a great experience. They're welcoming without being overbearing, and sweet without being saccharine. This is the real deal on every level. Check it out... NOW! You won't regret it.

Yelp
Sunday is the day, so get there early. There is wonderful ceviche and grilled octopus (Sunday only) that will leave your mouth watering. Everything is fresh and delicious. They are a great addition to Murray Hill.

Yelp
I was recommend this place and I'm so glad I came. Everything was delicious, and the Agua frescas were refreshing. When we went, they had tamarind papaya which was sour but not overly so and naranjilla pineapple which was nice and sweet. We tried all four of the sandwiches and they were nice enough to cut each of them and half and plated it for us for easy sharing. My favorites were the Choripan and the chicken. The choripan was nice and flavorful, but you can never go wrong with chorizo. I'm usually wary of getting chicken at places because it's usually dry, but this sandwich was nice and juicy and had a good sauce. The pork was good, although a little dry, but the sauce helped. I also don't like mushrooms because of the texture, but they were good on the sandwich. The mushroom sandwich is also a little spicy, so keep that in mind. We also got the empanadas, which were cheese and leek and nicely cooked. The sweet plantains were also good. The pan de yuca was also nicely fried and had a chewier texture. Overall I'll definitely be stopping by again!

Yelp
From the warm hospitality to the delightfully tasting food, guests upon arrival get the royal treatment. Outdoor patio was relaxing and comfy. A beautiful Sunday trip was so worth it to the cool Murray Hill area. This first visit I enjoyed the ceviche and grilled octopus. A refreshing non-alcohol beverage of mango and lime complemented the food. Groovy and chill sounds flowed from DJ Bobo Rose's speakers thru the air. Friendly conversation with other guests added to the happy vibes as we dined. Gracias to the owners Maria & Chason along with their staff for making this wonderful visit the first of many more.

Yelp
The pictures do not do any justice because the food was amazing. I had to rush to take the pictures because my husband couldn't wait.. The sloppy joe cheese corn dough empanadas were blazing hot, gooey and yummy. The pulled pork rice & lentil bowl with the HOT pepper aji, lime PICKLED red onions and ADDICTING chancho AIOLI..OMG over the top amazing! The seared chicken sandwich had perfect tanginess with the basil aioli and pickled sweet onions. We can tell everything was fresh and that they took care of making every dish to perfection. We've been waiting to go for a long time and it's in the perfect location bc it's only a mile away for us. We plan to be regulars and try everything on the menu.

Yelp
Yes! Yes! Yes! The food is absolutely amazing. We had the chicken sandwich- this is no ordinary chicken sandwich. The flavor is spot on and the sauce with the crusty bread will have you wanting more. Then the sauce with the plantain chips. Heaven in a basket and only $7. Run! You don't want to miss this little hole in the wall place on Edgewood.

Yelp
Food and service were both excellent. The folks that took care of us were extremely nice. Portions were small(ish) but it's Ceviche!!, so, to be fair, worth what we paid, and they were very generous with the plaintains. I'd like to try a few other items on the menu next time. And, of course, there WILL be a next time! Please give them a try. They are a new business and I want them to stick around.
