Yelp
What a disappointment! We were really looking forward to this place and unfortunately it missed the mark!
The ambiance was cool, something different and unseen, pictures in a cartoonish manner of existing Punjabi celebrities as a mural or homage of Chandigarh. And that was the only thing we liked!
To begin, I felt as if the menu was trying too hard to be something other than authentic. All the known dishes had something unnecessary to describe it- deviating from originality!!
We asked the server what are their famous dishes, he mentioned a few items to try but there was a HUGE push to order Indo-Chinese as it was their newest offering. (We opted against that, as we were interested in Punjabi food)
We started with a Chole Buture (one of their famous dish) and Papdi Chaat along with sweet lassi. Now I've had my share of lassi, and this was the first time it was with Elaichi (cardamom) mixed into it! It was so off putting, but the yogurt was creamy and sugar consistency was spot on).
When the chole buture came out, the buture was burnt, flat, and just not at all like it should have been- we called the server right away and they were nice about bringing another one out, but the second one was not much different (at least it was t burnt) the chole however were good, and it came with onions and agar.
The papdi chat was neither amazing nor horrible- we ate it but were unfazed.
We proceeded to order the "butter chicken" naan, and kulcha. However the butter chicken was sooooo watered down and tasteless that the gravy was literally dripping with off the naan! The chicken itself was not cooked properly and it tasted like it was boiled separately and dumped in the gravy.
The naan was good and the Kulcha was burnt!
Overall this place did NOT hit the spot for us and we will continue our search for authentic Punjabi food.
