Chandolin Boutique Hotel

This is a wonderful getaway offering a quiet, high-quality atmosphere. Access to the ski slopes is easy, with a regularly circulating ski bus on the one hand and ski-in access when returning at the end of the day on the other. Winter hiking opportunities start right in front of the hotel. The staff are extremely welcoming, friendly, and helpful, and they genuinely go out of their way to find solutions. The rooms are very clean, and if you choose a southwest-facing room, the view is absolutely spectacular. The spa area is modern, but the truly outstanding feature is the two outdoor hot tubs, where you can relax and enjoy the sunset. The restaurant, awarded 14 points by Gault & Millau, is another highlight and also offers a rich breakfast buffet. Judging from the many families with children and the presence of a dedicated room equipped with board games and toys, the hotel also appears to be very family-friendly. The village itself is small, with only two restaurants, so if you are looking for more evening variety, you may need to take the car or bus to one of the nearby villages.

A truly special place in a uniquely quiet town, set high above the world. Although the apartment we stayed in was very expensive, some details were disappointing. The baby cot we requested was missing, I had to carry quite a bit of luggage up several stairs, and after unloading I had to move the car to another parking spot. Still, the apartment itself was beautiful, with stunning views and all necessary amenities. We were traveling with three children, one with coeliac disease and one adult with a milk intolerance. While it was said that “everything” was possible, in practice this meant there was only one suitable dish for the child. Breakfast was very limited, especially considering our dietary restrictions. Most of the staff were friendly and clearly tried their best, but it often felt lacking in genuine hospitality. For example, when a cup of coffee was accidentally spilled in the kids room, we asked for cleaning supplies ourselves. The cleaning lady kindly took care of it, but another staff member approached us in a rather odd way, asking if there was a “problem with a cup,” and quickly walked away again. We thought they were coming to offer a refill, but that was not the case. As for the hot tubs, children under six are not allowed to use them due to the temperature and the risks involved. This was mentioned to us no less than five times, even though we understood the message clearly the first time. Options for children in and around the hotel are very limited, so overall it is not particularly child friendly.

The hotel is wonderfully located with the rooms and dining having stunning views of the mountain. The bathroom is modern and clean and the rooms are well designed with great balcony setting. The hotel is easy to get to with the train and bus. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

The hotels location is at the top of a mountain - stunning. The mountain top landscaping makes it a perfect view. However, since it is on the top of a mountain, the parking less than ideal and the space inside the rooms is limited. My family and I booked two rooms and both were fairly cramped. Thinking it was “boutique” I assumed they would have less rooms but at a standard size. My husband and I were given a bunk bed room and my mother a queen size bedroom. Nothing too fancy on the inside. The on-site restaurant is pricy and offers limited options. The service members were nice, but not overly helpful. The hotel was by no means the worst hotel I stayed at, but feel as though it did not live up to a Marriot standard. I was disappointed overall. **updated: After reading the response from the staff, I’m updating my review to reflect their response. I chatted with the front desk about my concerns before leaving and the lady at the front said “there will be no changes to your reservation”. So we decided to stay elsewhere for the night. It was so matter of fact with no intent to provide any options. Not only did we pay $600 for this hotel that we didn’t complete our full stay, but we booked a hotel in the valley simultaneously. It was only when we called Marriott to cancel our reservation did the young lady try to reach back out.

We came for our first family ski holiday with the kids and it turned out to be one of the best family holidays we have had! We stayed in the nearby apartment building owned by the hotel and were so impressed by the quality of the furniture and the cleanliness of the space. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, giving us lots of tips for restaurants (when we chose to eat out) The food in the restaurant was excellent, especially the burger. We decided while staying there that we will come back next year :)

Lovely spot for a long weekend. Good rooms, lovely spa and great view. Be prepared for some windy roads up the mountain - but worth it for the views!
