The 31 Best Restaurants in Kolkata (Calcutta), India | Eater

"It isn’t easy navigating the complex maze of congested streets, teeming with people and vehicles, that make up Burra Bazar. The area is Calcutta’s busiest commercial district and one of the country’s largest wholesale and retail market complexes. It’s also a hub for the city’s Marwari community, which started migrating to Calcutta from Rajasthan in the 18th century. Naturally, the lanes and alleys are strewn with shops selling the community’s favorite snacks and sweets, including one favorite, Badri ki Kachori. The stand serves Rajasthani khasta kachoris (flattened balls of crusty pastry stuffed with lentils), topped with sev (thick strands of fried gram flour) and ladles of a creamy, spicy curry of diced potatoes and gram flour. The kachoris are finished with a swirl of chile-infused oil and some freshly chopped coriander leaves." - Priyadarshini Chatterjee

I recently visited Chhangani Bhujia Bhandar after hearing a lot of hype, and to be fair, the food actually deserves the reputation. The bhujia, kachori and snacks were fresh, crisp, well-seasoned, and didn’t feel overly oily, which is rare for these items. If someone is going only for taste, it won’t disappoint. However, good food alone doesn’t automatically make a place great. The service needs improvement—staff wasn’t rude, but they were clearly distracted, slow to respond, and not interested in guiding customers. You have to repeat your order or remind them, which gets irritating. A business with this kind of daily footfall should at least train staff to acknowledge customers properly. The atmosphere is average at best. The seating area feels cramped, ventilation isn’t great, and the place gets noisy and chaotic during peak hours. Cleanliness is okay but not something worth praising—tables weren’t wiped quickly, and the overall setup feels more functional than welcoming. If they’re charging premium rates compared to local street shops, then the dining environment should match that level too. Overall, it’s a solid spot if you only care about taste and quick snacking. But if you want a comfortable dine-in experience with attentive service, this place still has a long way to go. With a little effort in hospitality, crowd management, and cleanliness, it could genuinely become outstanding instead of just “famous.”

Very disappointing experience. The food was nowhere near expectations — the taste was bland and not worth the hype. Feels like only food vloggers make it look good online. Price was like rocket. Honestly, it was a waste of money and time. Not recommended.

The Kachoris we're top notch. We went early morning so didn't get any crowd. For those reviewers who have written that the person is arrogant, I would like to differ. He isn't arrogant. He was very polite to us. Person to person experiences may vary.

Honestly, it’s an overhyped place. The sabzi is too spicy, and the deep-fried club kachori literally burns your throat after swallowing

It's in the main market and taste is very good. Club kachori was good and Aalo sabji was good and tasty. When u go to kolkata u must visit. For 4 kachori u just pay Rs. 48/- value for money. They also have tasty jalebi, gulabjamun.

* Unique Style: The kachori is served in a distinctive way, often on a leaf plate with potato curry and bhujiya at affordable rates * Taste: Many people find the taste of the Club Kachori to be good and unique. * Popularity: It's a very popular spot, and there can be long queues, especially in the morning as it's primarily a breakfast item. Lali Changani Club Kachori is a well-known street food in the Bara Bazar area of Kolkata, close to Howrah. It's famous for its unique serving style and taste.

Overhyped and Unhygienic – Not Worth the Hype This kachori spot is massively overhyped. The main attraction seems to be the fame of the person running it, which draws a crowd more out of curiosity than quality. At ₹17 per kachori, it’s overpriced for what it offers—especially considering the taste is subpar and far from satisfying. What’s more concerning is the hygiene. The stall is located right beside an open drain, and the food is prepared alarmingly close to it. This raises serious concerns about cleanliness and health risks. The chances of foodborne illness are quite high here. I strongly advise others to steer clear of this place for their own well-being.

Most hyped club kachori. Normal as rest. Just because of youtubers, this one is hyped. Nearby you will find several other club kachori stall. Btw rs 12/piece price for kachori.
