Chang's Chinese Restaurant

Relaxed, no-frills Chinese restaurant. Good for casual lunches/dinners. Portions are typically generous and consistent with price point. Food is fresh, hot and flavorful. Tried chicken with bok chai and chicken with shrimps. Both tasted pretty good.

Excellent soup, love the flavor of the hot and sour has lots in the soup. Lunch special starts are $11-15, but you get a lot, plus an egg roll, rice or fried rice, unless you get lo mein. Tender chicken, honey chicken pretty good. Authentic flavor, and fast service.

I love the food here. Everything is made fresh, and they always have the tastiest veggies in their dishes. It's always cooked to perfection. The portions are so generous, and the price for the quality is unmatched. I come here for lunch during work often, but would love an opportunity to have a proper sit down with friends here. It would be a great way to enjoy a meal. I recommend anything with eggplant and the house special dumpling soup! 🤤🍲

We ordered food to go for the first time today. We ordered shrimp fried rice, crab puffs, and two veggie egg rolls. The food and service and service were both average. The crab puffs were fried a little harder than I prefer and didn’t taste like crab.

There are so many Asian food options in Houston that it's overwhelming. I chose Chang's because they're one of the few that had my favorite dish (spicy green beans!) on the menu. I ended up ordering vegetable lo mein as well. It was my cheat day, okay? I had it delivered and I was surprised at how quickly it got to me. It took maybe 30 minutes. It was packaged in plastic so nothing was messy. The food was hot and delicious. Portions were generous enough for several meals. The beans...probably some of the best I've ever had. This is my new go-to for delivery. Prices were reasonable. It was tasty. It was fast.

I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. The cheese crab puffs were delicious and the house special fried rice and nice lomain were packed with flavor. The seating arrangements were neat and clean, adding to the overall ambiance. The waitress was very cooperative and made the experience memorable. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for great food and attentive service.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This place is delicious. They have amazing lunch specials and everything tastes so good. Because of this, I keep trying new things just to see and it's always incredible. The quality of the ingredients is of the highest level.

I order delivery from this place all the time! It's delicious. I've tried so many different dishes. It's consistently fresh, hot, and full of flavor. This has been a long-time convenient favorite go-to.

I need to work on my photographic skills but the food here is amazing. We dined twice here & the quality of food accompanied by their customer service is flawless! We had the Chicken with Cashew Nut Meal which came with a Soup & Egg Roll & also the Beef with Broccoli Meal.

Got the general Tso chicken. incredibly horrible. Hard pieces of chicken in an oily goop. The chicken was dry, hard and stringy. The chicken pieces appear to be freezer burned and recycled. Its ridiculous how horrible this "food" is. After trying it it went straight to the trash. only reason I ordered from here is because i got a discount from Ubereats. Do not recommend at all. Not worth a single penny. My stomach is turning after eating some of it. Please don't come here or order delivery.

ALLERGY WARNING + RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE I placed an order through DoorDash for Sweet & Sour Chicken with Fried Rice, and since I have an egg allergy, I requested it without eggs. The restaurant accepted my order, then immediately called to say the fried rice is premade with eggs and they wouldn't make a fresh batch. Instead, he insisted I switch to steamed rice. I asked if I could substitute noodles instead, and he said no substitutions allowed--even though he was already asking me to sub steamed rice. Make it make sense. When I explained that I wouldn't have ordered had the menu clearly stated the rice was premade with eggs, he got rude, said "I'll just cancel your order," and hung up on me. Beyond the lack of empathy for someone with a food allergy, I'd hate to think this establishment is getting by on stale, reheated rice and calling it a meal. Order at your own risk. They don't care about allergy safety, accommodations, or basic customer service.

I'm addicted to their Shrimp Chow Mein. Can hardly find this dish anymore elsewhere. Equally luscious are the Shrimp Spring Rolls (I like shrimp). I keep meaning to ask them if they use MSG, but always forget. Maybe because I'm afraid they'll say yes, making me have to stop ordering from their great Chinese-American menu.

Went for lunch with a friend. Had not been in over two years. Seated promptly, drink order taken and delivered. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken and friend the sesame chicken. Both off the lunch menu. Portions more than adequate. Soup starters - egg drop and sweet and sour - no complaints. Lunch plates came with entree, choice of rice and a large egg roll. My Kung Pao chicken was excellent and friend said their sesame chicken was very good. Water and tea refreshed without asking. Will be back.

I ordered shrimp and scallops with garlic sauce And fried rice. I drank water. The food tasted as though it had been cooked with tap water whereas the drinking water tasted fine. When I asked the young waiter about the food prep, he said I'd have to go to a high end restaurant to get food cooked in filtered water. Ridiculous! The one adjustment would make a big difference.

This Chinese restaurant has become my go-to spot for take-out. They prepare the food quickly, and it's consistently delicious. They also have a very convenient location. One of the things I like most is that they don't use MSG in their food!

I recently ordered from Chang's for my office Christmas party and everyone loved it so much they all went back for seconds! The food was delivered hot and delicious, and on time. This was the best party, comfort food at a very reasonable price. I wanted a buffet style spread with four entrees, fried rice, and two appetizers without a clue on how much I should order for the amount of people we had. So when I called the restaurant with all of my questions, the staff patiently worked with me and answered all my questions and even made some great suggestions. I highly recommend for your next party!

I've been checking out numerous Asian restaurants lately. My order isn't adventurous- steamed chicken and veggies and steamed dumplings. This restaurant is the best bang for the buck of all of the restaurants I've sampled from ( 4 so far not including Chang's). The portion size of the chicken and veggies was ample and they had a wider variety of veggies than the other restaurants. I really liked their house sauce. Even though this was a delivery order the chicken and veggies were piping hot. The chicken was of high quality. I'm very impressed

We decided on Chinese food for dinner. I've never been here before but it's close so we tried it out. We ordered chicken and shrimp hibachi. What we received wasn't so. The meat was very saucy and the shrimp had a sweet crust around it. We just assumed we were going to get hibachi. The rice was old and tasted burnt. It also was saucy. The veggies were the only thing we really ate. The egg rolls were fried in old grease which we tasted on the first bite. I was quite disappointed. After reading other patrons reviews I should've known better.

I tried the food it wasn't anything special, fried rice has no flavor and the plates are expensive for the quality, I'm not going back!

First off the ambiance in the restaurant is amazing. The amount of food you get for the price is awesome and the food is very good. The service when you sit down and when you order to go is very different. I would give this place 5 stars but every time I go there is a guy sitting behind the counter playing online poker. Not really the type of service you expect but the food is still really good. 8/10

The restaurant itself is pretty spacious and nice. The prices are a bit more expensive than other restaurants I have been too. Beef w/ Garlic Sauce is tastier than the Sichuan beef I had a few months back. House Fried combination rice may be my go to for a while. Probably the best fried rice I have had in the area.

we have had Changs on xmas day for the last several years so I guess it's a tradition. it's true Chinese food-what I remember from my childhood- paper wrapped chicken, ribs-yummy! love the family dinners!!

I found my spot! Years and years of searching for good tasting chicken fried rice and good egg rolls...no, no...GREAT egg rolls and I've found the place, finally! While working in Sugar Land, I was had been trying a couple of chinese restaraunts that really didn't hit the spot. They had salty fried rice, they only had vegetable egg rolls or Spring Egg rolls. All of which are of no interest to me. I found Chang's by accident one day and I ventured in, during my lunch break. It's a quaint little restaurant in a strip center.just off of Highway 6@59 South. The place has about eight tables and a busy little kitchen that you see as soon as you walk in. Wearing a mask was highly encouraged, with signs stressing it, and as the staff was masked up. I was seated and ordered a Dr. Pepper. Chang's is one of few restaurants still selling canned drinks, while providing a glass of ice. I put my order in for the Chicken Fried Rice and an order of egg rolls (2). It took about 15 minutes and my order was piping hot and on the table. I asked for pepper oil and it completed my hopeful intrigue and curiosity. The Chicken Fried Rice was a huge, heaping helping of amazement! It smelled heavenly and one spoonful had my tastebuds bowing down. Adding a tad bit of Soy Sauce took the experience over the top. Now, for the egg rolls. One bite and this co-star stole the scene! There was meat in there! Meat! Yes!!!! Finally! A dop into the pepper oil was the curtain closer! All together, the meal deserved a standing ovation! I care not what others lament over, pertaining to Chang's. I've been taken back to the early 90's when Timmy Chan's used to be good! This is MY new "go to" spot for Chinese food! I've since began working from home, about 30 minutes away, but I have ordered take-out and driven 30 minutes, at least once every couple of weeks, for the last two months from Chang's and I will be a patron for as long as they are around. Five Stars!!!! Bravo!!!

I just ordered a delivery and received over cooked pork dumplings... blah the food has gone downhill. The house combo noodles ehhh.... i've tasted better from your location.

I have now patroned Chang's three times. I have only ordered take out and have yet to dine in. The service was good and my food was prepared quickly. The first time I came here I ordered orange peel beef...I do not recommend it. I enjoy the vegetable egg rolls and hot and sour soup. They have decent lo mein. So far hot and sour soup has been my go to with the bursts of cold weather we have been getting. I will definitely be back to try different entrees on the menu.

Try the sweet and sour fish.. generous portions and tastes grrrrreat! Very good service, waitress always attentive and friendly.

Have only picked up take out and it is my fav Chinese takeout. The soups are exceptional. Won ton is my personal favorite and upscaling to the special with lots of vegetables, won tons, and shrimps is a great meal.

This place has the oldest nastiest tasting food ive ever had, and to think i paid more when i could have just gotten panda garden which is a waaayyyy better place

I placed a to go order and after the lunch rush; once inside, there was a bit of an odor, like moldy water. If that is the usual smell, I'd prefer to only order to go. The broccoli and chicken lunch special was delicious and plentiful. I was disappointed with the eggroll, the filling wasn't well cooked, it was really crunchy, as if it wasn't sautéed at all. The service was friendly and quick.

The rice wasn't the only thing steaming here. When I got in there was a few people waiting so I figured takeout was the fastest option. So we ordered quickly and waited. 20 minutes in someone else ordered takeout and the woman at the register said it was a 45 minute wait. We're were shocked but we're already invested and it is a holiday. After enough time passed I went over to ask about my order. She fumbled through the receipts and didn't find ours there so she went to the kitchen. Few minutes later someone came to repeat our order to us. I'm guessing they forgot our order. She said another 15 minutes. After that passed I went over and asked again and she said 10 more minutes. Waited again and was told 10 more minutes. I told her no that I wanted a refund. That everyone we started waiting with was gone. She went back to the kitchen and came back. Pretend to be on the computer and entering my refund but she was just stalling. She kept answering phones and avoided me until another 10 minutes passed and she handed me the food. I was furious. They even got my soup wrong. Never again.

Change is one of the best Chinese restaurants, I've had over the 10 years I have lived in Houston. Super authentic and reasonably priced. Highly recommend. All three entrees we order were delicious. Definitely will be ordering more from here and coming back.

This is one of the few restaurants in the Galleria area that offers Egg Foo Young. It's delicious! #porkeggfooyoung

The food here is excellent and the ambiance is wonderful. Everything I have eaten is hot and fresh and tastes great. The egg foo young is one of the best I have ever had. The egg rolls are homemade and awesome. We will definitely be back!!

outstanding traditional Chinese cooking. Cannot say enough nice things about every dish we ordered. The hot and sour soup was excellent. The General Tso's chicken was amazing. My wife loves everything on the menu. Even the egg rolls and crispy little wonton appetizers were both delicious! Has become our favorite restaurant in the area when in the neighborhood. Casual dining, great service, good prices. The lunch menu is an excellent deal. highly recommend.

I had a wire in my soup! Cut my mouth! Hostess says it's from a pot scrubber. How disgusting and dangerous. Nope, nope, nope!!!

The food tastes good and they are generous with the serving. I've never dined in and only gotten take outs. My only complain is the man who answers the phone is pretty rude. I expected a better customer service.

This is my favorite quiet Chinese spot. Everything is always made fresh/hot and it's one of the few places that offers actual Chow Mein. They are always empty so I hope they don't go out of business... Reviews on here are way harsh. I have never had an issue with takeout and dine-in. It's a solid "American Chinese Food" restaurant that also appears to be family owned/operated! I also recommend the Egg Drop Soup, Sesame Chicken, & Lo Mein. Dinner special at the back of the menu is a great deal.

A big shout out to my favorite neighborhood Chinese restaurant for always making my takeout dining experience so seamless and DELICIOUS! I can rely on Chang's for quality ALL THE TIME! They don't cut corners in ingredients or taste. This is key for me because there are many good Chinese restaurants in my area BUT none like Chang's for taste, quality and lunch special prices. This dish is the succulent Honey Chicken with white rice, crispy chips and the tastiest sweet and sour soup ever! They are thoughtful about taste, which is my top criteria. I highly recommend them. It's worth a drive if you don't live close by! #HoustonFoodie

Soft spring rolls are some of the best in town Expeditious service and convenient location

It was my first time ordering from here so I didn't know what to expect. I was craving broccoli and chicken I must say I was presently surprised the food was hot fresh and tasty. It was delicious that will be my go to restaurant now that I'm living in this area. I do recommend for fresh tasting food.

Just moved to the neighborhood and decided to give this place a try. I'd actually passed on it once because I was way underdressed to sit at a Dine in restaurant... The food wasn't bad, but the service was definitely not good. The host (?) greeted us while on his phone and kinda just motioned and told us to sit anywhere. The server sat us, but service felt very rushed with how she tried to leave the table before making sure everything was good on each trip. DO NOT ORDER DESSERT. We tried the mango sorbet and it was frozen too hard to get a spoon into. When we told the server she offered to heat up the Frozen dessert or to pack it to go. When asked to have the item removed from the check because it was too hard to eat, we were told all their desserts are prepackaged and frozen, they could pack it to go for us, but they can't remove it from the check once ordered. We ended up paying $8 for an inedible dessert

I've actually been here twice. Once back in '14 and again twice about 2 weeks ago. I must say that their food is very good and I haven't been to a place in Houston (yet) that compares. However, a couple of weeks ago I ordered my food to go and when I got home it was THE WRONG ORDER!! There is no feeling worse than being hungry, ready to eat and you don't have what you paid for and quite frank, this place ain't cheap! I was pissed to say the least that I had to get back in my car and take my food back. Once I arrived and let them know they gave me the wrong order, the lady at the front desk says "I'm sorry, here is the right order" and I know for a fact its probably luke warm now. It was. Their food is good but before you walk out of the door, make sure its what you ordered.

Hmm, so Chang's is okay..... I have never dined in so can't comment on the service or dine in experience. I had takeout and it was pretty good, as in I enjoyed my meal well enough and would possibly order here for takeout again because it is close and convenient to home.

I've been busy and missing the yelping. Long day of meetings made me hungry for Chinese and I checked changs. Super close by, easily to find, and they deliver/pick up. If you call ahead without looking at the menu the receptionist will help out. Craving pad Thai, this place does not have it, but lo mien is an acceptable replacement. Kind've. Anyway, the portion size is generous, and the food is cooked fully through. The shrimp lo mien did not scimp out on shrimp. Lots of food, plenty for two. I ordered to go. There are a few amount of vegetables in the dish too. However, the flavor lacks any seasoning, boldness. It tasted very mellow, like my gf's cooking. The noodles were cooked perfectly, but no flavor. Overall, it was convenient, quick, and priced alittle more than what it's worth. Just IMHO

Ordered delivery from this restaurant tonight that did not go well. We ordered pork with garlic and broccoli, Singapore noodles, and chicken lo mein. The order arrived via Grub Hub in bad shape. The styrofoam box of Singapore noodles had disintegrated and the entire dish had fallen out and was spread throughout the bag. Bits of styrofoam, now orange with oils and sauce, were mixed in with the food. The Pork dish ordered had broccoli and carrots in a watery sauce with no pork. A call to the restaurant to describe the situation resulted in an employee relaying the details to a manager who was too busy to come to the phone. She apologized and was told to offer a helping of "double pork" the next time. Next time? Not sure if the spilling of the noodle dish was the fault of the restaurant for poor packing/bad choice of containers or if it was the fault of the Grub Hub driver for rough handling. Regardless, the unsatisfactory response by the restaurant to both issues with the order makes me not want to order from this restaurant again.

Stopped for a quick lunch by myself. Ordered the pepper chicken and hot n sour soup. Wasn't expecting much based on the reviews, but my lunch was excellent. I'll definitely be back! Service was great as well!!

The worst service I've ever had especially in the Tanglewood area you would not expect that their service was this bad... also I ordered Mongolian beef and it came out raw.... also ordered the spicy chicken and I only had four pieces of chicken that came out. All I can say is I will never go back there. And I feel sorry for this restaurant wonder how long they will last but please if you do order any kind of beef there make sure I guess you have to tell them you want it well done.... so disappointed...

I had high expectations and wanted to love this place. The hot & sour soup was delicious as was the egg roll but the food total disappointment. The beef with broccoli was super salty and the rice was tasteless the noodles were great. A little pricey for salty food

Food is excellent ! Maybe the best Chinese in Houston. I've been coming here for the past 6 months and the food is consistently amazing! I've introduced Chang's to friends and family and they all love it as well! Outstanding!
