Cheese is cheese, Customer Service is another aspect of small business. I think when you seek out small businesses, you expect a level of service that goes above and beyond. The cheese was good (cheese), the design (I've done better!), youTube and a wine glass!. Customer Service abysmal. I called prior to scheduled pick-up, YES 1/2 hour, My sick Mother had a heralth crisis. I just wanted OPTIONS I was rudely dismissed on the phone. Upon arrival, I asked who answered the phone?. The guilty party identified and DEFENDED, as did another employee, who felt the need to defend her, so at this point we have TWO employees against ONE customer. Was told "it wasnt even done", no one identified themselves by name. All of sudden it was DONE! Christmas Miracle and all. a woman charged out of the back and basically threw me out, even holding the door. This place is not cheap, and I thought you pay for Customer Service at a small place like this. They charge an arm and leg. LESSON LEARNED. I felt totally unheard, unseen and not valued at all. Expect a response of "word salad" from the owner, I've read the other reponses to reviews asking for improvement. Go elsewhere or save you money. In summary, cheese, nuts, meat and dried fruit (as expected at price point), Design is haphazard at best. Customer Service is NON-EXISTENT (w/some passive aggressivity), location poor and no parking. Suggestions for improvement: NONE, ill just go where valued. Happy Holidays

Pittsburgh's go to cheese shop!! A literal, MUST TRY! The owners are beyond knowledgeable in everything cheese, all the way down to the farms they source from! We just did a raclette rental that blew us away, absolutely delicious and so much fun at an affordable price! Thanks for opening our world of cheese to the universe of cheese for the past 5 years and future to come!

THIS is the type of shop that only a couple who lives and breathes (and eats) cheese could open successfully. This place is not a gimmick for you to try the new trendy cheese, but to truly immerse yourself in cheese and cheese accoutrements. The city needs more places like this to bring more people in and inspire other niche boutiques and small businesses. It definitely helps that they're so friendly and generous with their samples that you could wind up with a weekends worth of tapas in no time at all. The grilled cheeses are on local crusty baguettes, intended to purely be a vessel for the cheese experience with just the right pairing you refuse to share. There is great reason why a store like this, in front of a children's hospital on an incredibly busy road with little parking has celebrated such longevity but don't take my word for it!

I love this place more every time I go! A small gourmet cheese shop with a wide selection, warm atmosphere, great staff and owners and delicious extras like sauces and chocolates and drinks. You can even get a grilled cheese. Learning about fondue was delightful. Sign up for a class or event! You won't regret it.

We spent an extremely enjoyable evening partaking of the "grazing menu" in the upstairs space. A selection of cheeses, charcuterie, and BYOB, wine, cider, etc. The space was very conducive to small intimate chats, the cheese and charcuterie selection was superb! Everything was delicious, and we would definitely come back again (oh and we also snuck down to the cheese shop in the middle of the event and bought some stuff to bring home 🙂). The staff was passionate about cheese, and wonderfully informed. It was a enjoyable and educational evening.

12 ladies attended a private cheese tasting event. It was wonderful! We learned about and tasted pairings of 5 various cheeses. They were delicious. My favorite was the Chevre Goat Rodeo, PA made cheese. It was paired with Lemon Curd! You need to try this!! Plus, there was wine and pickled grapes. We had fun shopping in the cheese shop and we all bought our favorite cheeses.

Did you know they have grilled cheese sandwiches? Because I did not and they are delicious. We tried two different ones and they were both really good. Crunchy bread, gooey cheese. I've enjoyed their great selection of cheeses and the wonderful variety of other cheese related products Last year, they also did a really nice job putting together some cheese trays and client gift baskets for me. Right across from Children's, parking can be tight but check the side streets. Also a great stop if you're at CHP for whatever reason. Or if you're enjoying Indian food next door.

If you're going to splurge on cheese in Pittsburgh, this is the place to do it. I ordered the small holiday plate for a snacky Christmas Eve dinner for two, and every single item on the generously portioned plate was phenomenal. We are still snacking from it three days later. Really cute little shop too.

Incredible pittsburgh establishment. What made this place amazing was their knowledgeable and kind staff. We wandered in not knowing what we were looking for or what we wanted but we were given so much personal attention, samples and advice. We loved the little bits bin in order to try some different items and were able to go home and make a cheese board ourselves. The cheese was so yummy and the depth of available options is unmatched. Olives were great as well!

Fancy cheese novices. A very patient employee educated and allowed us to taste the cheeses. We ended up with six very different cheeses, hardy crackers, lemon cookies, apricot butter, & honey. We split the goodies. I have hard rolls from La Gourmadine (Lawrenceville) that didn't know they were a perfect pairing for apricot butter. With lead time, they will build your charcuterie board for you. We look forward to attending their classes. Street parking. Support small businesses.

Went to a French cheese tasting in November and absolutely loved it!!! The host is incredible and incredibly informative about the cheeses and region they come from. The set up and ambiance was awesome--very intimate setting and about a 2 hour event. Highly recommend!

Such a lovely place with an amazing selection of cheeses and accompaniments. It's definitely pricey, but the quality is top tier.

Wow! This cheese shop is incredible. First, obviously their cheese is so tasty and delicious. They hand select each one and can tell you everything about it from the farm, to the flavor complexities, to what dishes it will taste best in or with. They also serve up unbelievably good grilled cheese. In addition, they carry some lovely complementary grocery items like pastas, sauces, chocolate, jams, fruits, and nuts. And they are exactly the kind of caring, dedicated, small business that I love to support with my patronage. They care about the small farmers making the cheeses. They care about nourishing their customers with their products. They care about contributing to Western, PA communities. Can't recommend them enough.

Stumbled upon this cheese shop while in the neighborhood waiting out our time to be seated at Apteka down the street. The lady inside was super sweet and let us try a million samples. They have clearly marked vegetarian cheeses and even had some vegan ones to taste! We took small nubs of a cheddar and rosemary goat cheese - so yum and different from what we've had recently! We grabbed a pack of crackers and nibbled on the cheese as a small precursor prior to our meal and it was bliss! We would've hung out longer if it wasn't closing shortly after we had arrived but happy we were able to have the experience. Definitely worth checking out!

Wow wow wow! I am extremely impressed with Chantal's Cheese Shop. I have driven past this shop a countless number of times and never knew it was here. Before even stepping foot into the shop, my family headed upstairs for a cheese tasting class. The whole vibe of the tasting room was so welcoming. Anaïs, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable. Her sense of humor made this experience that much better. She paired each cheese with a different butter/jam or chocolate, and surprisingly enough, it made the cheese taste even better which I did not think was possible. She was able to answer any questions we had, and was always polite with her response. When the class was over, we headed down to the shop where we received 10% off for being at the tasting. This shop is amazing because there is not only cheese to buy, there is an array of chocolate, sauces, jellys/jams/butters, pastas, and so much more. My favorite part was the "Tiny Bits Bin" located in the fridge. This bin hold small pre-cut pieces of cheese you can purchase. It honestly is a genius idea. This shop also has lunch options, which I NEED to try one day. This was such a fantastic experience, and I can not wait to bring my friends to a class and the shop in the future. Everything about this experience was phenomenal and I would recommend it to anyone!

I've been eyeing this place for about 2 years. Whenever I drove by I kept telling myself I needed to check it out. I'm glad I finally got to check it out. Anais, the owner gave us a private class the other day. I thought i loved cheese, but Anais, who is French, is on another level of passion. It makes sense that she would be a cheese connoisseur, or should i say fromage? The passion and excitement in her presentation were palpable and very much welcomed. We got to try 5 different types of cheese: chèvre, brie formier, Jerseyhoeve, Cabot Clotbound Cheddar, and Cashel Blue, which were all paired with different jams, figs, and mustards. Afterwards, we got to check out the cheese shop.

I felt compelled to write a review after reading the recent two star review. We went to a cheese tasting about 5-6 years ago. The cheese was excellent. However, I had some issues. First, the presenter was very friendly with a few of the "regulars ", making my husband and I feel like outsiders. The wine was good but meager portions, considering the cost. I would definitely purchase cheese here but would not attend another wine tasting.

Popped in for lunch for one of their grilled cheeses and the woman working was so kind, she was telling me about their offered classes and events while preparing mine and friends' sandwiches. They have a wide selection of various jams and cheeses, obviously. I definitely will be going back for more!

Abosolutely the best cheese shop in Pittsburgh, my go-to place for cheese! You can find all variety of cheese, spreads and jams, crackers and chocolates, and salamis from all over the world. Anything you need for a charcuterie board can be found at this place. Everyone is patient and knowledgeable, when I have a ton of questions, they answer with patience and will give recommendation on what I I would like to try or I am looking for. It's the holiday season, absolutely the best time to get some tasty and fancy cheeses and snacks from them, you won't regret! Highly recommend.

It's been 5 wonderful years for Chantal's Cheese Shop. They have thrived because they offer personalized customer service and high quality cheeses. They offer a great selection of fine cheeses as well as charcuterie and cheese boards. You can even rent a raclette grill.

I recently attended a cheese tasting event hosted at Chantal's Cheese Shop, and while the cheese tasting itself was a good time, sadly all the circumstances around it severely detracted from it. You're coming to the event hungry as instructed, but feel compelled to not start eating cheese until the hostess starts discussing each particular slice. Sadly, even getting to the first cheese took at least 30 minutes, during which she spent the time discussing almost nothing cheese related. Rich people, working women, united states laws, Americans, people from Pittsburgh, growing your own food, government overreach. From there, she starts discussing the actual cheese itself, starting with the makers and the farm. Which I'm sure is interesting to some people, but I personally wasn't hugely invested in hearing the accolades about the farm and the owners. And then, only after 30 minutes do you get to hear 2 minutes of information about the cheese itself. I'm here to eat cheese, I would like to learn more about it directly! What flavors I should be expecting, the softness or hardness, what other cheeses it may be similar to. Something to enhance my eating experience, which is the primary reason I've come here to begin with. And this then repeats for an hour and a half, with no breaks. Really, you're just sitting and listening to someone lecture at you while you eat cheese. And you can't even talk to your fellow table mates during this. You want to ask them about what flavors they notices, share your opinions about the cheeses, and she'll shush you because she's still lecturing. This would have been MASSIVLY improved by cutting out 90% of the lecture. Take 10 minutes to talk about the cheese itself and a bit about the farm. Go into details about the taste, texture, flavors, anything that will enhance the eating part. Then, give 10 minutes of rest! Let people eat and discuss and think about the food they just ate. Then repeat. I will say, at least, that the cheeses themselves were fairly interesting, and the pairings were well done. The jams especially were the high point, those were delicious. I write this in the hope that the event will grow and improve. I really wanted to love this, and I think with some changes to the lecture it could be fantastic.

I can't say enough good things about Chantal's! They have an amazing variety of cheeses, including local and international cheeses and meats. They bake baguettes fresh daily, and have various accompaniments such as jams, pickled veggies, etc. A true one stop shop for a charcuterie board. The workers were SO nice, offering suggestions and tastings. Everything we tried was delicious. I will be returning anytime I am looking for gourmet cheeses or when looking for some appetizers.

I love this little cheese shop! It's located right across the street from Children's Hospital, and specializes in all things cheese and charcuterie. They have a booth at the Bloomfield Saturday Market that I make sure to hit every weekend. Their homemade fresh mozzarella is awesome! It's so creamy and you can tell it's fresh. Their homemade ricotta is THE BEST! I used it to make homemade ravioli filling and I loved that you could taste the lemon juice in it! It's fun to stop in the shop to browse, although their cheeses are expensive. I like to try the small ends from blocks of cheese that are sold for only a few dollars. It's a fun way to try different types of cheese without committing to a full block. I like that they sell the cheeses by the 1/4 lb. I think other cheese shops in the area make you buy at least 1/2 lb. The employees at Chantal's introduced me to Marigold, and Cornerstone cheese- I loved both! And make sure to get the St. Angel Brie. It is like butter! You can just spread it on crackers or bread and it is incredible!! I also saw 2 nurses from Children's stop in to get gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches while I was waiting to check out. I will have to keep that in mind that they offer sandwiches too!

This is basically a love letter to Chantal's Cheese Shop. It's one of my favorite treasures in the city. I love it so much. They have the best selection. I want the entire counter. It takes every bit of restraint in me not to buy the whole counter and weigh 600 pounds. Luckily, the nice man at the counter was super helpful and guided me to all the best selection. I was there last week after about a year and bought lots of amazing things. Everything we bought was delicious. We bought the Lupo North Country Charcuterie. It was good and very similar to salami. I also bought Casella's Special Prosciutto which tasted amazing with manchego. We also enjoyed the Kuhweld Creamery's Morning Meadow and Mitica'a Bianco Sardo. I had Sardo when I studied in Argentina and have always loved it. The best hands down and most original was the Alp Blossom. It had edible dried flowers which made it taste absolutely amazing. The flowers made it. They were on the side of the cheese and I almost threw them away. My husband told me they were meant to be eaten. Glad he did. OMG!! They really made the cheese. That cheese has ruined me for other cheeses. Hello! I love it so much. Chantal's also makes killer sandwiches. I love the prosciutto sandwich. It's ooey gooey deliciousness. Run don't walk here. You won't be sorry.

Average grilled cheese, nice boutique shop Food: 3, Value: 2, Atmosphere: 3, Service: 4 This is just a review for their lunch grilled cheese. I love cheese and was so excited to hear that this place served lunch. I've sampled their cheeses before during some farmer's markets and thought they had a great selection of cheeses! The store is small, but has a great selection of cheeses and local, specialized accompaniments (crackers, jams, honey, etc). Cheeses mostly were in the $16-25/lb price range. They had some hot honey and lavender jelly to sample. They had 4 different grilled cheeses to pick from including a daily special which was truffle grilled cheese. The grilled cheeses are pre-prepared and wrapped in foil and tossed on a panini press for 5-10 minutes. We got the truffle, three-cheese, and prosciutto grilled cheese. The biggest issue I had was that the grilled cheese was served on baguette bread. The bread was good quality with a good crunch, but was too hard and dry. The ratio was also too heavy on bread and did not have enough cheese for the amount of bread. Would have been better with a fresh buttery/olive oil white bread. The cheese itself was great and melted, but would have preferred cheeses with a more pungent flavor especially with the thick bread. The truffle was my favorite and the prosciutto itself had a great flavor. Also there is no seating in the shop! So expect to find some seating elsewhere to eat your sandwiches. Overall, really average grilled cheese that was not worth the price. Could use some tweaks to really make the cheese stand out which is supposed to be the star of these sandwiches.

My mama brings me cheese from PA to California every visit and it's my favorite. Just recently got to visit and go cheese shopping myself and it was the cutest little cheese shop ever ! Large variety from all over. Try the house made mozzarella! And the Prairie breeze cheddar is amazing. The young man at the counter was super knowledgeable and sweet offering samples of everything we wanted to try. We even asked him for a good pizza spot as we were leaving and he recommended Driftwood Pizza right around the corner. We told Pizza dude the cheese dude recommended them and they should collaborate together, it would make amazing pizza, divine pizza. God like pizza. Gods gift to mankind pizza and killer house made mozzarellie. Please ? I'll fly back out just for that.

So many options to choose from- cheese, charcuterie & accompaniments! The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable, I was purchasing as a gift for someone who likes stinky cheese and they were able to point out great recommendations that they had in the case. They also have a small menu of about 3 or so grilled cheeses perfect for lunch. The street parking is a little tough since it's on a busy road located across from a hospital. We were able to find a spot about a block away.

BEHOLD! This is a cheese lovers paradise! There's truly nothing like this in the PGH area... A magical place dedicated to all things cheese. If you love cheese, and I feel like this is a popular opinion, this spot is a MUST! Listen, I know nothing about cheese. I am a simple woman. I like cheddar and gouda. I do not know about fancy pants cheeses. But I know I like eating fancy pants cheeses! I love working my way through different kinds. I called to order a cheese and charcuterie board for my anniversary and wasn't sure whether I wanted to go with one of their already put together ones or create my own. Problem was, there is no way I could create my own without going in or knowing the different types of cheese they offer. Also one small note too, I didn't realize this until recently. A charcuterie board is literally just meat. It does not include cheese. So if you are getting both on a board, it is a cheese and charcuterie board. It's often listed at restaurants as a charcuterie board even if it just has cheese or has both. Just FYI :) But I digress... I ended up calling and chatting with a very nice man who guided me towards The Made in America board because I said I like cheddar and sharp cheese. My husband likes blue cheese so I also ordered an additional cheese. I also added on crackers because that does not come with the board. It was a great spread! I ordered the small to split between the two of us and ate it for 3 days after. The cheese definitely didn't last long both between the two of us and whatever was left got hard quickly. But that's not the shops fault, that's just what cheese does. Everything was really good, but as with any board there's always clear favorites (the sharpest cheeses for me!). I also LOVED the dried apricots. There were ample fruit on the board and I honestly wish I would have asked to switch the dried cranberries because they're not my favorite. I bet they would have done it. The only thing I would love for them to start doing is put little picks/signs on what each cheese and meat was or write it on the top of the container above the cheese and meats. I didn't think to ask when I picked up, but once I got home I could guess some of them and others I was like... maybe this is what it is after checking the website again. I think next time I'd like to go in and pick out my own meats and cheeses. I know it's slightly difficult these days with COVID, but they are being super safe and only letting one person into the shop at a time. I waited outside for someone to finish up, but it didn't take long. There's lots of other items in the shop like crackers, jams, spreads, etc. So much more than I can even remember. Such a fabulous shop and I can't wait to order again soon!

Love this little cheese shop. They are so knowledgeable and give excellent suggestions if you feel overwhelmed with all the options. It makes me so happy that we such a lovely establishment in our little city. Please stop in as frequently as you can to keep this place around for many years to come. The staff is incredible, and french i think. So who better to buy cheese from than the masters. Great little fig jams and crackers too. Just get in there asap and have fun getting lost in a little piece of france.

I placed my first of many future orders to be delivered to my boyfriend's family for Christmas. Being out of state I was worried about how everything would play out -the look, freshness, delivery time. The Seasonal plate just arrived and not only is his family excited to dig in, they mentioned it was hand delivered by Mrs. Clause!! Thank you so much for making their first experience with Chantal's Cheese Shop so memorable! I wish I was in town to try this tasty looking board! Oh, and a big thank you to I believe Andy, for helping me through the ordering process and my numerous questions. Merry Christmas!!

I was home, on the phone with a friend telling her i was really craving pate' when I was told about a cute cheese shop that also offered vegan options and they would probably have a vegan pate' so off this Illy Philly goes to Chantal's Cheese Shop! When I got there, alas it was closed , but I saw someone sweeping so I knocked on the door. He came over to tell me they were closed and I let him know that I drove from a distance and I just wanted to ask of they had vegan pate and I would come back when they're open the next day. Well...he told me to come in! How nice was that?! He showed me around the store and pointed out their Vegan cheeses and products and then showed me the vegan pate'!! Yayyyy me!!! Of course I purchased it and thanked him profusely for letting me in. I took that pate home,sat on my couch with a snuggly blanket, a good movie (Thanks Netflix), and some artisan crackers and devoured that delicous Pate'.. It's a great cheese shop and would probably add a little decadence to your next Charcuterie Board..... Check them out!

Who doesn't love cheese? I recently attended a cheese and wine paring at Chantal's Cheese Shop in Lower Lawrenceville / Bloomfield area. Anaïs the cheesemonger and owner, hosted a Pittsburgh Foodies cheese night in her beautiful shop, educating myself and a group of fellow Pittsburgh foodies on all things cheese. Anaïs was an amazing host! She is originally from France and is super sweet. Its so endearing to listen to her as she shares her apparent passion for cheese & food. You can just tell she loves sharing her knowledge with her infatuated customers. We enjoyed generous portions of a selection of curated cheeses paired with specialty accompaniments like jams, confits, and mustards, plus a plate of savory goodies including meats & salmon rillettes, and a red and white wine pairing. The collective favorites were the super buttery Kunik a triple cream goats and cows milk cheese paired with local honeycomb, and the Le bleu de Laqueuille paired with a red pepper confit with raspberry & cayenne. My favorites from the savory side plate were the luxe butter Ste-Mere d'Isigny and the balsamic pearls on the salmon spread. For the wine pairings we enjoyed french wines of course. A white wine from Bourgogne Aligoté, France and a red wine from Languedoc, France. I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed both of these non-sweet wines and would definitely purchase for my own enjoyment at home. The white Louis Jadot Bourgogne Aligoté 2017, was sharp and acidic so it was great to pair with our rich cheeses. The red wine, was the Jeff Carrel Les Darons Rouge 2016, it was was bold and flavorful with a delicious berry taste. They offer lessons in Cheese Pairings 101 or special events like a lesson on Italian Cheese or American Artisanal Cheese. I had heard about this cheese shop on Yelp and recently went to brunch right up the street so I had to stop in. I was overwhelmed with all the choices and the workers are super helpful giving recommendations. Aside from cheese, there's so many mustards, jams and snacks to choose from and tips on how to make a custom charcuterie board or gift basket (which they'll wrap up for you!) This is on my list of local shops to visit for unique holiday gifts this year.

Listen - this place is ADORABLE! I could eat my way through this little shop and be very happy - unfortunately, I'd also be very poor. But delicious cheese and accompaniments are not generally inexpensive if the quality is good. I don't think the pricing at this shop is anything unexpected. The selection is amazing for such a small shop - not only do they have cheese, but they have crackers, and jams, and spreads, and cured meats, and cheese boards, and anything else you could think of that goes with cheese. They even have a section in their fridge that has tiny pieces of cheese to buy. I will definitely be inspecting this section on my next visit. When I stopped in, I had one of their grilled cheeses. and mmmmmm it was so good. it was warm and gooey and you could tell the cheese was high quality. And it was made on a french baguette. I will for sure be stopping back again and again.

Chantal's is everything you need in your life. I like most people probably see Chantal's on their daily commute or while visiting the children's hospital etc, and have the same idea "that looks interesting maybe I'll stop in there one day". DO IT! This place is seriously amazing, and you'll be the star of any occasion by bringing cheese from Chantal's. My first time in Chantal's I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Anaïs. Would not have picked a better person to bring me into the cheese world. We spoke for while about the wide variety of cheese selections, what gets paired with what wines, charcuterie boards, etc. we also spoke about some of her experiences, and how she ended up in Pittsburgh, PA. Not only does Chantal's offer a wide variety of specialty/imported cheeses from across the world. It also includes a knowledgeable staff to help you navigate everything Cheese related. I usually bring the wine I'm serving, and whoever is there helps pic out the cheese pairing I've probably stopped by 6 times in the last 4 months, and it's a 10 outta 10 every time. Whiskey Cheddar and the Aged Gouda are my go-toes. What are you waiting for!? Go get some cheese!

My love of cheese has no bounds. The fact that Chantal's is walking distance from my house is a real problem. Since the day they opened I've been hooked. Cheeses from all over the world right in my neighborhood. The house made mozzarella is fresh and so tasty. Lots of times my purchases don't make it home. I love whipping out one of the specialty cheeses and having nibbles on my walk back.

I was tempted to purchase a fondue pot to host for my book club parties and I am really excited to create a charcuterie board using some of these amazing flavors of cheese as some point. Staff was really helpful recommending three types of cheese for me and a friend to take home and the. I already ate a few pieces and it is seriously addicting! So fresh! I can't wait to come back again!

I dropped in on a warm, summer evening for a cheese tasting with some of the best jams/spread pairings I have had in a very long time! The occasion was made especially memorable in advent of the national day of France. Things I liked: - an excellent pairing of jams, confit and pate with high quality cheeses. These include caramelized onion jam (it was savory sweet, absolutely superb!), williams pear and white wine spread, black cherry confit, and so forth. These are all stocked in store and are a must try for future wine-cheese pairings of your own. - The cheeses were very high quality: a classical and easy introduction into cheeses with fromage d'affinois, 24 month aged Comte, and also a Roquefort. (Please see image for the full list of 5 cheeses, accompanying spreads, and 2 wine tastings). - These came with a brief explanation of the cheese's history and tasting qualities. Overall, they have done an excellent job bringing high quality, unique cheeses into the Pittsburgh scene. Any cheese enthusiast must stop by this endearing shop!

While I haven't had a chance to partake since the beginning of the pandemic, I will say that this place is absolutely worth checking out. I love good cheese. I'm a bit of a snob about it. One thing I always regretted was that I had never gotten the chance to experience proper French Camembert. They had some. While it wasn't truly Camembert from Normandy (it was made with pasteurized milk), it was about as close as I'll ever come to trying the genuine article unless I somehow have a windfall and can afford a trip to France. The selection of French and American cheeses is excellent. In my opinion they could work a little on the selections outside of that. They also have some delicious spreads such as hot honey, which I love. I'll be back to sample them again.

Happy stomach, happy heart! I did the cheese pairing evening here and would DEFINITELY recommend. Five delicious, specialty cheeses, each paired with an interesting jam, plus two (large) wine samples, unlimited baguette and crackers, and a side dish of pickled onions, mustard, and pâté. Im vegetarian so forewent the pâté, and Anaïs (who owns the shop and ran the workshop) even substituted one of the cheeses she had planned for the evening to accommodate me! The original menu had a cheese that used lard in the process, and I was so grateful to be thought of like that without even asking. She walked us through the history and process of each cheese which only magnified our appreciation. Everything was so, so delicious. It's pretty pricey at around $50 per person, but if it's something you value it's worth the splurge. You also get 10% off any purchases from the store, and trust me you will want to make some. In addition to the huge cheese case in the shop, they sell jams, honeys, crackers, wines, cooking tools, and much more. You can even get a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich for lunch if you're in the area! Can't recommend highly enough. Thanks to Anaïs for providing an awesome experience!

I was very happy to shop at Chantal. Lots of fine cheeses, plus everything else to make a really nice cheese board: nuts, dried fruits, meats, jellies and chutneys--you name it. Plus, you can ask questions and the people there will take time to make suggestions and recommendations. There are even books for the cheese lover. Very nice cheese shop. I highly recommend checking it out. Directly across from Children's Hospital. Don't forget to order a grilled cheese sandwich. I had panini with Swiss, gruyere, prosciutto and Dijon mustard. Yummy. Try a jar of the Peach chutney.

Have been wanting to try this shop for a while as there are not many specialty cheese shops in Pittsburgh. Came here for a cheese tasting and wow was it amazing! I highly recommend coming here for a cheese tasting for anyone who loves cheese. It is on the pricier side, but there is a ton of cheese to eat and it is definitely worth it. The shop is pretty small but they have a variety of cheeses, jams, crackers, and just about anything you would want to go with your cheese. Our tasting including 5 different cheeses paired with unique jams ranging from sweet blackberry jam to savory red pepper jam. The creamy La Tur was phenomenal! There was a salmon rillete as well. As the shop is small, there are only about 12 spots available for these tastings. Will definitely be back for a grilled cheese and to buy some cheese. Overall, a great place to satisfy those cheese cravings in the Lawrenceville area.

I'm a little green behind the ears when it comes to leaving reviews on yelp, so I'm still trying to suss out what ratings mean to me. So far, if it feels like I'm gonna gush about something and annoy my friends about it for a couple of days, it's gonna be a five star BABE BUSINESS. Popped in here on a random afternoon and ended up having a suuuuuper lovely, leisurely conversation with the folks behind the counter. We chatted about all things cheese and Pittsburgh, and they were incredibly gracious about letting us try a bunch of amazing cheeses, even with me being a total cheese novice. Definitely coming back for all my cheese needs! We took their havarti+gouda+cheddar grilled cheeses (which are super super toasty half baguettes) to go for lunch and they were scrumptious & v affordable, too.

Amazing cheeses and really helpful, kind staff. So many unusual and interesting (and delicious) cheeses and other food products. I could easily become addicted to this store.

TERRIBLE!!!! Ordered what I though was a tray (yes it was but so small) Paid $ 20.00 for delivery which is okay but......when ordering on line they ask for a delivery time which I put in the time frame. I realize sometimes things may not work out due to traffic etc. When I called the business the owner answered and was down right RUDE! The so called tray was no bigger than 6x 6 and I paid 75.00. It was terrible. I had people coming over for dinner and drinks. I was totally appalled! I had to run out and get more items to make what I paid $75.00 look better and appealing. There were two pieces of lemon and lime that we wilted. I don't what most of you expect, but this business did not deliver!!!!!!!!

If I could use one word to describe this place would be the word "awesome." I love the wide variety of cheeses sourced either locally or from some amazing village in *insert quaint European village*. I love that they have not only cheese, but various cheese accessories (cheese boards, cheese knives) and accompaniments (meats, chutneys, and olives to name a few). The staff is very welcoming and quite knowledgeable of their wares. You are free to taste their cheeses and they like to recommend any cheese to suit your taste. I haven't had a chance to try their sandwiches, but I am sure they are gonna blow my socks off... and I have yet another excuse to swing by!

I absolutely LOVE Chantal's! I have visited their store in Lawrenceville many times and I always have an excellent experience. First of all, their cheese. THEIR CHEESE!!! It is truly in a league of its own. Their Brie is what my dreams are made of and usually the cause for my visit. But of course, I always end up with a variety of cheeses and their fresh baguettes pair exceptionally! I also love that the shop offers wonderful pairings from bread, crackers, jams, olives, dried fruit, etc., many of which are local. The employees are knowledgeable and always willing to provide recommendations. It's such a wonderful experience every time and I look forward to continued visits!

I wish I could give six stars. This place is amazing. Great selection of French and American cheeses. Some hard-to-find varieties. The awesome folks who work there know their stuff and will point you in the right direction. But it's more than just cheese. Every corner of this adorable little shop is packed to the gills with specialty items to enrich your life. French biscuits, good chocolate, fancy jams, infused vinegar, smoked arbequina olive oil. The place is like a perfectly curated little museum of all things delicious. And the sandwiches. Come on! Do yourself a favor. Go buy some cheese.

I came into Chantal's with a huge list of about 30 cheeses for a party I was throwing. Andy and Mary worked together to provide a wonderful selection of cheeses! Their knowledge of cheese is incredible. Wonderful store with a great selection and a great staff.

This cheese shop is FANTASTIC! Super friendly and helpful with a wide selection. Such a gem to find in Pittsburgh.
