A straightforward Thai kitchen favored for late hours, generous portions, and comforting noodle soups. Regulars point to papaya salad, curries, and fried rice as pantry staples for weeknights north of the Playhouse District.

*This review is almost a year in the making, but I wanted to be sure to give credit where credit is due and rave about this place.* First time trying Thai food. Wanted a soup as I have been feeling ill for a bit. So many good choices, so I decided to go with what had the most of what I wanted. I didn't know what to expect, but I also didn't expect my dish. It was so flavorful and aromatic. It had so many wonderful layers of flavors. First stood out was the lemon grass, then the coconut base with spices. This dish is now a new favorite of mine and I will happily visit again if I'm in the area. What I wanted: soup, curry, chicken, What I ordered: Tom Kha noodle soup. FBI: fried banana and ice cream -so simple, yet so delicious. Very good for the senses. Warm inside, crunchy outside. Service was good and timely: checked on me when I was done with meal

Google
Consistent and tasty thai food in the 626! It's a local neighborhood spot. Its casual dining w friendly service. I've ordered here multiple times now. It's one of the better Thai options in the Pasadena area. Their dine in and to go portions are equally generous. Seasoned well. Especially enjoy the spice level options. Love my spice 🔥 Mostly had their noodles, rice, and salad options. Papaya salad is refreshing and can be made extra spicy. Their noodle dishes are balanced and not overly dry. The crab fried rice is generous with real crab meat. Great little neighborhood Thai spot 👌

Google
Not quite hole in the wall totally undiscovered gem but portion sizes are reasonable and dishes flavorful/worth it. Panang salmon and cashew chicken pictured, delicious. At least 10-15 takeout orders were processed in the hourish while sitting down. Light above us was flickering but only if you're observant. Try this place

Google
We went shortly after 9:00 pm. It's great to know there's a sit-down restaurant that is open after 8-9:00 that isn't in Old Town Pasadena, easy free parking across the street. Our food was excellent. The server was very pleasant. A plus to us was that there was no background music that we had to listen to or talk over

Google
I decided to try a new Thai place for lunch since I had never been there and heard their curries were good. I ordered the chicken panang curry with a side of brown rice. The panang curry was excellent. The rice was good but for $2 more I expect my rice carton to be filled more than 70 percent. I was confused at first when I went to pick up my order as the door was closed. They were open, but due to Covid you can't even go inside. Parking is limited. Overall pretty good Thai.

Google
Great customer service. I came with a group of hikers (just finished hiking up to inspiration point) who were all hungry and tired. They immediately put together all the tables and accommodated and sat us all together.

Google
This is my go to place for Thai food in Pasadena. Prices are fair, food is good, and service is ok. I've had better Thai food though, but it's two hours away from here, so this is my substitute Thai food fix. My favorite dish is pad see ew and it's ok here, sometimes it's a bit on the dry kinda bland side though. I like their papaya salad, the yellow curry, spicy eggplant, Tom kha kai soup with noodles. Sometimes our waitress seems to be rude and curt, but we have gotten used to her mannerisms and think maybe that's just the way she talks to people, so we don't take it personally. It helps to just pick up the food and take it to go, I call it in ahead of time and they have it ready in about 15 minutes and it's piping hot.

Google
The food was great except our VERY minty and very little shrimp Siam rolls. The Pad Thai was great and the chow mein was good too the chow mein was about twice the serving size as the pad Thai, and the service was okay, our cups were empty for a long time and with such rich food you need water.

Yelp
Very kind and considerate people :) The spicy beef salad was delicious. The spice was perfectly on point. I was so impressed by the way our server managed the dining room and was so kind to everyone! Not only that, but a big thank you to our server for trying to track me down after I left my credit card! She had my card waiting for me when I circled back! We were recommended this restaurant and it did not disappoint! :)

Yelp
Authentic Thai food, generous portions and speedy service. The food is delicious and comforting. We have been long time customers and visit at least once weekly.

Yelp
Firstly the food is fantastic. They make the crab fried rice and pumpkin curry like the places ive been to overseas and it really fulfills a craving. All the staff are so kind and welcoming, it feels like coming home to dinner. All the different refreshing summer drinks are amazing as well. A big plus is the giant windows and lots of potted plants, that really puts me at ease.

Yelp
Great curry lunch special. Was so pleasantly surprised. Our server was wonderful. Tried the Panang & the yellow curry. Great portion for a nice lunch.

Yelp
Too much time had passed since the last time my boyfriend and I made our way to Chao Doi Thai! We seated ourselves and our server was friendly, as usual! :) it was busier than normal but it still had its cozy vibe. We tried the shrimp egg roll to start, and it was so fresh and flavorful. He tried the pad Thai and loved it. I ventured to the Tom Kha and I'm SO glad I did!! The rich coconut curry was perfectly balanced with the savory chicken. We both had enough for plenty of leftovers! For dessert, we ended with the taro smoothie. Can't wait to be back!

Yelp
I Came here for an early dinner with my mom we Got the fried calamari , combination fried rice ,pad see ew and a Thai tea! ... so delicious! And service was great! I will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
The food was very good, but the service and hospitality were above and beyond. We had a lunch meeting that lasted 4 1/2 hours, and the hosts were very gracious, so we took care of them at the end. I wish I took some food photos...

Yelp
Once again, this place still have great service and foods! The waiter was being funny when we asked for 2 chopsticks. So he brought exactly 2 chopsticks when we actually meant pairs of chopsticks! Haha. We ordered spicy chow mein this time instead of pad see ew and it is also good!! Always felt warm welcome when we are here!

Dave A.

Yelp
Food was delish ! Solid Thai cooking. Panang shrimp and the Pad see ew on point on some steamed Rice... yuMmy

Yelp
Great food and a very kind staff. We got the curry, pad sew, and egg rolls--all very good. Enjoyed everything!

Yelp
A nice friendly local Thai restaurant that is open late enough for weekday after-work dinner. It's not inexpensive, but the portions are generous and the location is convenient. My favorite is the red curry with brown rice. Another is their hot basil stir fry with chicken. Their soups and appetizers are good too. It's rarely packed and the service is courteous and quick.

Yelp
Came on a Wednesday night and service was quick and friendly. One thing definitely stood out here was so how clean the restaurant itself was which is a major plus. As soon as your sat they give you a pitcher of ice cold water. I ordered the Thai tea to start and I was thoroughly impressed as good Thai tea is hard to come by. Most places it's too sweet or the tea seems non existent in flavor. Ordered the Tom Kha soup which was very well balanced. I would definitely come back and try some more things at this restaurant. Prices are slightly on the higher end. But seems to be on pace for Pasadena.

Yelp
This friendly neighborhood Thai spot in north Pasadena has all the staples. After trying a few dishes, I think the only thing worth re-ordering is the tomyum soup. The pad thai glowed a strange red, as opposed to orange, and the noodle texture was soggy. All in all, it's a decent spot if you want Thai food in the area, but don't expect anything special.

Yelp
This was my first time ordering online and my last. I ordered via DoorDash and was excited to treat myself to some nice Thai food. When I got my food I specifically say NO ICE in my Ice tea. But there was ice. Then the fried calamari was cold so greasy and in-edible. The bread was mashed and came off the Calamari. After every bite I had a full mouth of grease in my mouth. The pad see ew was not hot as well. And my frost bite tasted like plastic. Also there was hardly any vegetables or meat. Will never eat anything again Food wasn't fresh. Didn't taste good. Low quality.

Yelp
i was visiting from New York for an annual music festival in May of 2024 and stumbled on this place. The food was great. I went back. It was great again. I've been thinking about the food for a year--really. I'm going back for the same music festival and am planning on going at least twice this year. Maybe I'll get take out to eat on the plane ride back. Sadly, they won't deliver to Manhattan. :(

Yelp
So I've dined here once and gotten takeout once and both times were pretty mediocre. The only good thing is this place is open later than most of the other Thai spots in Pasadena. Parking was pretty easy to find on the street. As far as the food goes: Pad Thai (3/5): The noodles came out super clumped together and seemed over cooked. Also, the taste was just a little off and way darker coloring than I'm used to. They didn't provide any lime or lemon either for acid to cut the sweetness. The egg appeared to have been cooked separately and thrown on top instead of being cooked together with the noodles. Pineapple fried rice (3/5): The rice was overdone and came out in small pieces so you don't get the chew of in tact rice kernels. Prob was not day old rice or smashed too much during the stir frying process. Taste was ok and came with nice big shrimp and pineapple chunks but rice was not good. Chao doi platter (4/5): This was actually pretty decent and nicely fried. It comes with egg rolls, fried shrimp, crab rangoon, and crispy triangle. Came with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. Definitely not a first choice Thai spot for me but could do in a pinch. Also could be that their other dishes are made better.

Yelp
This is a fantastic Thai restaurant located in a great corner (Los Robles Ave and Orange Grove Blvd). I discovered it by happenstance and definitely will be back. I ordered takeout and my order was ready in less than 10 minutes. The Pad Woon Sen (Thai Glass Noodles Stir fried) was definitely the star of the show. Despite being a low calorie food, it was delicious and filled me up. The Pad See Ew, as with every other place I've been to, was amazing. Nothing new here. The Rock Shrimp is a delicious, deep fried shrimp with a side sauce whose formula must be preserved for future generations. It is THAT good. The Sticky Rice was delicious. I always get mine without the mango side but I'm sure even with the mango, it would be amazing. 10/10. Would recommend.

Yelp
Saddest, most expensive Tom Kha in town. So watered down that the dish's signature flavors and creaminess from coconut milk and lemongrass are missing-- yet, it's $20!
google avatar

Christine W.

Yelp
Amaaaazing Thai food here. The flavors are quite authentic. Everything we ordered here was good. It's not very comfortable dining in and it gets loud and echoey. Parking is within the same structure or street larm

Yelp
I have eaten here several times and it's always been great. I have had the tempura shrimp and vegetables, the pineapple curry, and the soft shell crab, and everything's been delicious and reasonably priced. The portions are generous and the hours are late- you just have to be seated by 9:30 pm as otherwise I've seen people been turned away at 9:35 so just be aware. Give it a try!
google avatar

Yelp
Everytime I have gone the food is great and the customer service is awesome. It is always a fan favorite.

Yelp
Pad Thai with shrimp was fresh and delicious, highly recommend. Also ordered the fresh lemonade and it didn't disappoint..awesome service and peaceful vibe...I'll be coming back soon!

Yelp
This place is just OK. Nothing here really stood out. I would not crave any of their dishes. The servers are really nice and the food portion is good. It's also nice they have a parking structure which was pretty much empty. Ordered the pad Thai, papaya salad and Panang curry. The best thing was probably the papaya salad as it was spicy with good flavor. Flavor for the curry was lacking or missing something. Def not worth the 75$ tab.

Yelp
Sorry I forgot to take photos but we were too busy having fun. I called Sky a few days ago and asked if we could reserve a table for 7 and because we were having a meeting, might stay in one place for a 2-3 hours (turned in to almost 4!). She was great on the phone and in person and NOT ONCE did she push us along. I finally tasted Thai Iced Coffee and that was a revelation. We had an assortment of dishes from Spicy Eggplant to Pumpkin Curry and, of course, Panang. The person ordering that later commented that she usually used soy sauce on any Asian food and it never crossed her mind. We finished off with Mango Sticky Rice and left there having had a great meeting, wonderful food and seeing nice people. BTW, the ambiance was great!

Yelp
This shop is around the corner of our house so it is our go to place for late night orders. We always end up ordering near the end of the day when we have late work nights and need a quick dinner. Food is always quick for pickup, and easy driveup since garage is almost always empty. Our go to's are their curry's, pad see iw, and pad thai. Consistently good. Ive never eaten in but it is quite large, plenty of tables, and while I wait for my food staff seems very attentive.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant in Pasadena. We got to be seated right away on a Saturday night. They had plenty of empty seats. But I saw they were busy with pick up orders. They only had 1 waiter which made him super busy but he was very nice and friendly! We ordered Thai ice tea which was good and it was served in a glass bottle (tall glass), plenty for 2 people. We ordered calamari for appetizer. It came pretty fast considering they were busy with orders. Calamari was good, it came with fried noodles as well. A bit too oily but overall good. For entree we ordered the crab and shrimp fried rice. It did take a while, fortunately we had our calamari to eat while waiting. The fried rice was worth the wait. It's so delicious! Again a bit too oily for my taste but it was so good! Very generous with the shrimp as well! And it came in a huge portion! We couldn't finish it. Very pleased with this restaurant!

Yelp
The food here is so excellent, we've abandoned our usual Thai places in the area. Having had a dinner party fairly recently with people in from the east coast, we ordered from here and they are still raving about the food quality nearly 2 months later. The crab fried rice is my go to but everything else is great as well.

Andrew T.

Yelp
Love coming here for some great Thai food. The crab and shrimp fried rice is a must, it is always delicious and you can no find anything like it anywhere else. The people working are also always attentive to make sure you have what you need. I also got the Yum Woosen Salad recently and it was delicious. Only downside is the chef changes throughout the week and the taste of the food isn't consistently the same.

Jean L.

Yelp
Terrible food. Ketchup in the pad thai!?!Thin tom yum. A home cook could make better food! Not going back! EVER!
google avatar

Margaret P.

Yelp
I've been meaning to write a review of this place! I came here in December with a friend for some lunch. We ordered the pad kee mao, pad thai, and tom kha. Everything was served pretty fast! The dishes were good and the prices were reasonable. If a Thai restaurant has mango sticky rice and I'm not on a diet, you know that I'm ordering it! The mango sticky rice was good, but it did have a slight after taste to it. I believe it was a lavender taste, which wasn't bad, but just not what I was used to! Parking was easy and the location was easy to find as well!

Clark K.

Yelp
Nice customer service. Prices were way higher than what I saw online and the food was extremely bland, borderline nasty. The place was empty on a Friday night that should've been my first red flag.
google avatar

Bertha C.

Yelp
Second time. Don't order take out it's not the same. I used app asked for extra hot sauce and chop sticks didn't get either. The spicy noddles with chicken taste like they where mixed with shrimp not a great taste.
google avatar

Rumneek B.

Yelp
The food here is amazing. Went with my extended family (who are very picky and difficult to please) and they all agreed that the flavor of each dish was well above average. 5/5 There was 7 of us and we ordered a lot of food so they did their best to serve us but our plates and cutlery came out after the food has been coming to our table. They also forgot one of the desserts we ordered but also forgot to charge us for it. We weren't that upset because we were full but just to note on service. 4/5 The ambiance was decent, very much family owned biz vibes, clean. however it got a little stuffy as the dinner progressed, there wasn't any AC on or airflow so we were relieved when we stepped outside after our dinner was over. 4/5

Yelp
Papaya salad - fresh but too salty . Spicy Eggplant - yummy and delicious Next time - I will tell them please less salt

Yelp
Easily added to my favorites just from 2 visits. QUALITY of the food is great. So far I've only tried the Garlic Green Bean (chicken) and Panang Curry (beef) and both did not disappoint. Also sometimes you just know the food will be good by how good their Thai Tea is and it was good. I've attached a picture of a more up to date menu.

Briseida O.

Yelp
Just picked up their chicken satay and OMG the chicken is well seasoned and JUICY. The dipping sauce is amazing! I should have asked for extra! Not that they didn't give me enough. I loved it so much I want to drink it out of the container! The papaya salad is amazing too!
google avatar

Niko A.

Yelp
I would actually rate this place with 4.5 stars. Really great customer service and fast preparation of food. Pad see ew beef: flavorful, soft noodles, tender beef, one of my favorites. I prefer this over their pad Thai. Crab lagoon: crispy cheesy crab rangooooon Papaya salad: ordered it mild, will probably order it medium spice next time, really fresh, not too salty
google avatar

Estela G.

Yelp
I ordered takeout: Tofu Pad Thai & Shrimp Tom Kha. Space was clean and quiet. Customer Service was great. Loved supporting a small business, a mom and her young son helped me out. She was teaching him to hand out orders and help with receipts, I thought it was sweet. Food was light on flavor. Pad Thai 5.5/10, it needed to pack a bigger punch in taste. This is a favorite dish of mine and I wouldn't order this again. Tom Kah soup was yummy and satisfying, but a little light on taste-not as light as the pad Thai though. 8.5/10, would order again. Soup comes in small or large. Small was a generous portion.

Yelp
Service is great , like 4.5 stars. The server during sunday is very friendly, nice and warm. The food is good and tasty but they should replace their wok/cookware, if you look closely to the food they serve, it looks like there are tiny pieces of teflon or burnt pieces. Very unhealthy!
google avatar

Leon C.

Yelp
1- So this place is super expensive. 2- they didn't put a spoon nor fork in the bag to go. On those grounds, I won't be able to taste the food untilI re-heat it. I will never recommend mend this place nor come back.
google avatar

Jeanette G.

Yelp
Tom yum noodle soup delivery! Delicious !!! Their hot sauce is spot on as well. Perfect rainy day meal. Will be ordering again.

Yelp
Great food, friendly sit down service. We're surprised not to see more sit down business! They don't serve alcohol which could be an issue for some.

Yelp
I went to pick up an order that was ordered online. According to the website, the restaurant opened at 11a. When I arrived for pick-up at 1130a, the door was locked, the flip-sign was flipped to "closed" and lights were off. A sign was posted on the door (attached.) With this information, I returned to my car, called my lunch companion and we ordered from a new restaurant. I also contacted "Beyond Menu" to let them know about the issue. Beyond Menu called me back and let me know that the restaurant was indeed open and that my order was ready. I returned to the restaurant and was order was ready, however, it was no longer needed because we made secondary plans. I asked for a refund and the restaurant refused on the grounds that the order was completed and therefore ineligible for refund. The lady was very apologetic as to the fact that a second restaurant had to be contacted but refused a refund. She did offer a free Thai Iced Tea for my troubles, but I declined. When asked for an explanation, the lady at the restaurant first said that they were always open (implying the misunderstanding was mine,) then her story changed that she had to use the restroom and was alone in the restaurant (however there was at least one other employee present) After much back and forth with Beyond Menu and the lady at the restaurant, Beyond Menu agreed to the refund, provided I leave the food behind (at the point, I was over 30 minutes late for my lunch meeting and on principle I wanted a refund and the food.) What makes me sad is that we have been ordering from this restaurant since it opened and made sure to continue support through COVID, but after this customer service incident we will NEVER order from this restaurant again.

Armando A.

Yelp
Food was ok, not alot of "Thai" flavor very bland. You get large portions. They need to be more generous with their spices

Amy J.

Yelp
I had the worst delivery from them tonight. Scallops were so over cooked I had to pick them out or dish and throw them in the trash. My husband said his beef was inedible. Also everything was super greasy!! Not sure it was just an off night but won't be returning anytime soon.
google avatar

Chris T.

Yelp
We got a yellow curry and a Penang curry. Both were delicious (savory not sweet and just the right spice level). Highly recommended.

Yelp
Love this place. I've lived in area for 4yrs and this is my go to. They never disappoint me. The chow fun with beef and red curry are my must gets.
