My friend and I went there on our last night in Barcelona. It was on a weekday and pretty late so it wasn’t busy at all. We were greeted by the fishmonger and he kindly explained to us how it worked. We picked out our seafoods and how we would like it cooked and went to pay. The gentleman at the cash was very welcoming and pleasant to talk to. We proceeded to our seats with our bottle of wine and our food was ready in no time. The seafood were fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed the food but would’ve loved our shrimp and squids to have a bit more charr in the taste, but that’s our personal preferences. Overall we would recommend this place and the price with a bottle of wine was very reasonable for us.

The food is amazing! High recommend you tried the ham, shrimp and tacos. The ham is best I had in Barcelona. I walked in this place randomly. However, it turned out to be one of my favorite meals in Barcelona. Everything is fresh made and good quality. Great service too!!! Many thanks to Tairene and Ari who take care of us! Thank you both for your hospitality:-)

Google
Totally brilliant concept - before sitting you choose which fish from the display on ice. Standard dishes and prices, so here I ordered boquerones fritos - fried anchovies - and know it costs 9:50€ plus 3.50€ for a small draught beer. Pay and sit at the back while it is cooked. This branch is convenient by Paseig de Gracias metro, but no windows at the back seating area. However the decor is also good. A great experience !

Awesome seafood. The shrimp is to die for. Absolutely the best shrimp I’ve had at Barcelona. Scallop and octopus also very yummy. I was not aware and used to the crab being cold but crab meat also pretty good tho I think crab cooked and served when warm would taste even better…highly recommend and would come back again if in Barcelona. My friend also likes it a lot. Oh tomato bread, also very delicious, do get some.

When I went, it wasn’t very busy no queue at all. Inside, there’s a display of fresh seafood where you can pick what you want and choose how it’s cooked. They also have some recommended dishes on the menu. For me, the seafood was really fresh, but the dipping sauce wasn’t quite my taste a bit too mild. You can choose your own table, and there are plenty of seats available

We walked in and were wowed by the display of glistening fresh seafood. The young man who took our order helped us make our selection and advised the best way to prepare it. We overdid it - ordered six plates and everything was fabulous! We especially recommend the Caesar salad, the grilled octopus, and best of all, the large prawns. And the mojitos. All the staff were friendly and delightful. Fresh, fresh seafood. Go!

I knew this restaurant from YouTube and visited with my sister and my niece. Rafael, the man standing at the counter helped us to choose seafood and taught how to cook the best for each. He’s so kind and friendly! All dishes were excellent!! Especially the lobster soup was very delicious.

Google
The food here is excellent and the service was really nice!! You can choose the seafood you want and they are all very fresh. Would recommend garlic prawns to everyone and will definitely come back again.

Yelp
This place is open for lunch and closed for siesta time 1-4PM like a lot of places in Spain. It Re opens for dinner at 530PM. The staff were kind and attentive, would give staff 5 star. The fish itself was fresh, however the way the items were plated and paired were lacking in flavor. Some missing salt and texture. Would come again and try other things but wouldn't be first on my list. The green tea I ordered was very very good

Yelp
I liked it better before it changed name or owner. You choose your seafood at the front and then they grill or fry. Then you move to the drink section when the payment is fulfilled. In the back there's a cheesey section of casual seating with fake green trees. Music is terrible old school ran and r and b. I got the sangria which was watered down. My favorite was the grilled calamari and grilled baby octopus and grilled scallops. My least favorite was the French oysters and how they only had lemon available to season. Plus the razor clams just did not have any flavor how they prepared, even with the green sauce on the side. Underwhelming for me, but you can come and decide for yourself.

Yelp
We were walking around looking for La Paradeta but our gps brought us here at Chao Pescao! (formerly La Paradeta)! We had a great time having our late lunch here. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making our first visit unforgettable. A special thank you to Rafael, our server, who was attentive, kind, and made sure everything was perfect from start to end of our visit. Also, big appreciation to Hassan, who was at the drinks and counter area. She helped us with our drinks and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed her warm and welcoming attitude made a huge difference. The seafoods are unbelievably fresh, and the best part is they'll cook it exactly the way you like it. Every dish we tried was delicious and prepared to perfection, we had our two orders of sardines fried but it's lightly breaded yet light and crispy, 2 orders of Pulpo we requested it to be grilled and it was cooked to perfection and the 2 sea-breams one is grilled with side of fresh olives that was grated with herbs and olive oil it really complimented the fish well and then, one fried , lightly breaded but very light yet the fish was crunchy and tender, my taste buds were very happy. The dining area was clean and well maintained. If you're looking for great seafood and exceptional service, Chao Pescao is a must-visit. We said we will comeback and we did! Yelp
Unique seafood market style dinning experience. You select your fresh seafood from the stand and the restaurant would prepare them and deliver them to your table. Everything was fresh and delicious, and the staffs were very tentative. If you didn't pick enough on the first round, you can always go back to the stand and pick more. Highly recommended!

Yelp
[Food] - Razor clams: Not bad but I enjoyed the other dishes more. - Oysters: So good and fresh with a spritz of lemon. - Scallops: Pretty decent although I would say definitely better elsewhere. - Tomato Clams Marinera: Would definitely order this again! Couldn't finish it there and tasted just as good eating it at home! [Service] - Line up, order food, drinks, pay, find a table and food will be brought out to your table with given order tag. [Ambiance] - A modern, chill restaurant for some beer and seafood snacks! [Overall] - I would definitely come back here again if I'm ever in the area for yummy fresh seafood and beer!

Yelp
This place was definitely a gem! It used to be La Paradeta, but is now Chao Pescao. Appears to be the same concept though- you pick your fresh seafood at the counter first, then order your drinks at the next counter, then sit down and wait for it. Seating is plentiful indoors, which is so hard to find in most restaurants in the area. Everything was cooked well and tasted great! Will be back again!

Yelp
Some of the freshest and best seafood I have ever had! This place was right around the corner from our hotel and looked so good every time we walked by, so we decided to try it out on our last night. We saw a big sign that advertised seafood for 2 for $24, 50 Euros per person, so we went for it. We were very pleasantly surprised when the platter came out that it was full of a variety of seafood! All tasted very fresh and very good! It was such a huge portion, that we didn't even finish it. Each seafood was cooked in a different style, so you have boiled, grilled, fried, and steamed to say the least. I'm not sure if the selection varies based on the night, as the menu didn't specify, but you definitely can't go wrong with this. I just wished there was something similar near me.

Yelp
This is my fourth time here, unfortunately this time the service is very slow. Very disappointed

Yelp
Overall 5/5! Taste: 5/5 muy delicioso! Sweet razor clams & shrimps. Most moist & tender fish. Lightly-Crisped delicious tiny squids. Quality: 5/5 fresh as heck! Everything was simply seasoned with salt, olive oil or lemon because there's no fishy taste or smell to hide. Service: 5/5 no-frills waiter-less quick-serve like service. You simply pick your seafood and drinks, pay and take number to your table. It just works! Value: 5/5 compared to most tourist places or US seafood restaurant prices. X-factor: 5/5 on a side street near the most popular shopping area in Barcelona "Passeig de Gracia."

Yelp
I'm sad to say I was not impressed and I had been following this restaurant on instagram for some Time. I noticed they only put so much seafood out because when we left there were Options that were not offered to me. It was our First time and so it was explained to us how it worked. I was told the crab would be filled and he would put butter garlic sauce on my scallops. None of that was done. The person at the drinks station seemed bothered by us. And when our meal that cost us over $100 came, we had to ask 3 times for hot sauce. The crab was not one I was familiar with so had very little meat and the shell was harder than normal and I cut 2 fingers trying to open it. The shrimp in garlic was decent so we dipped everything in there, but trying to peel crab and the full bodied shrimp I bought with cuts in my fingers did not make it easy and I felt a lot went to waste. I was very disappointed from all I saw and expected from social media than from what we had. After a 12 hour 2 day and a 15 min walk even further from our hotel, We were normally pleased.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere. Way larger once you walk in. Friendly attendant. They are fully fluent in English. You order up front. They place the very fresh items in a tray and you tell them how to prepare. 20 min or so later everything pops out fully cooked or not as you like from the kitchen! Enjoy.

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing and a must visit if you visit Barcelona. Chao Pescao was recommended by our friends who ate here 3 times during their stay! So we decided to come by and give this place a try. It might be a bit confusing on how the process works and the host speaks very fast with a bit of a thick accent so here is a quick summary: First you choose from an array of fresh raw seafood. We chose cockles (whitebait fish), fish of the day, clams, scallops, large shrimps and razor clams. After that, you walk down further to the cashier and they'll offer you bread, wine and dipping sauce. They will charge you extra 80 cents for each extra dipping sauce but it's absolutely worth it! I got wasabi mayo, tartare and garlic. All of them were absolutely amazing! The cashier will give you a table number and you just take a seat anywhere. Anytime your table number is called, it means they cooked some portion of your order and it's ready to be picked up. As for the quality of the food. It is just phenomenal and I can see why my friends kept going back again and again. In my reviews, I usually rank the food from best to least favorite but all the seafood I ordered were so good I have to rank them ALL my favorites. I mean I think you can close your eyes and just point at anything and you won't be disappointed. Am I coming back? Oh absolutely!

Yelp
Ladies and Gentlemen, you ever have the chance to eat at Chao Pescao you must. We ordered Raw Oysters, Muscles in Marinara, Fried Calamari, Catch of the day broiled, and Octopus seared. The oysters were very fresh. The muscles in marinara were our favorite. I ate all of the calamari. The octopus was a little overcooked. The catch of the day was good but I suppose there are more exciting options on the menu. All in all, the experience we had was great. After eating we enjoyed the sangria that comes in a huge bottle. The people that work there are extremely nice. I can't wait to bring my unborn son here

Yelp
Loved this place! True order then sit kind of location. Chose our seafood first (literally raw and moving) and then got it cooked on the spot. Great wine options too. Got the following: Razor clams, scallops, great prawns, and octopus. All were amazing. The best part of it all was that it was so fresh that it almost required no added salt, but there was extra salt and pepper if needed. Will be back!!!

Yelp
Recommended by my cousin when it was still La Paradeta and we nearly missed it! When you enter, you are immediately greeted by full bar raw and very fresh seafood. Once you made your selections, they would cook and bring to your table. We had prawns, razor claims, scallops, octopus and fried calamari heads. The service is wonderful and best of all, they speak English. Haha!!

Janis S.

Yelp
Fresh fresh seafood that you pick for your meal and tell them if you want it grilled or fried I loved the grilled calamari and scallops My husband had salmon too. The shrimp were still in shells and hard to remove without effort We had a garden salad which was very good

Yelp
I randomly walked by this place and saw that they had market style viewing of the seafood on ice and knew they were going to cook amazing and fresh food here. It was so good, I ordered a second dinner after I was done with my first.
