The food and service are excellent. Most of the wait staff have been there for a long time. The atmosphere is nice; roomy, clean and light. It is slightly loud for those who have a hard time with their hearing.

Google
Each dish we ordered was at least two portion sizes and listed at a great price! The food was amazing and the wait time was faster than expected. Great place!

Google
This was a cheerful spot we’ve been to many times and as always they didn’t let us down! I ordered the Filet Manuel. This was so tender and full of flavor but didn’t overpower the fish! Also ordered a side salad as you can see more than Ordinary! Will start going more often for sure. The fish was so good I took the picture after I had a few bites.

Google
Thank you Chapalas Grill and staff for an amazing Mother's Day lunch. We had a group of 16 served wonderful food very efficiently. The staff were polite and work together well as a team. Thank you!

Google
One of my local favorites, I recommend everything. I got cheese enchilada with a chile relleno with red sauce on top, very delicious. *So I came back and tried something different, the molcajete was delicious we got the shrimp on the side but that was personal preference they accommodate in every way here. Then the queso fundido with chorizo!! Boom 💥 now that was bursting with flavor, and the cheese pull was award winning. Come check it out tell them I sent ya! ✌️

Google
Food was great. Soupe was different - I order chicken and it was tasting great.enchiladas with green sauce was good as well. And cilantro chicken was yummy . Empanada toppings were great. Good draft beer. Service was good as well.

Google
Visited for dinner on a Monday night. Seated and ordered drinks, then waited around 20 minutes while our waitress disappointed then helped other customers while ignoring us. Decided to leave, so went up front to tell the manager about our poor experience, and he charged us full price for the one (overpriced and weak) house margarita anyways!! I visit Visalia often for business, and frequent local restaurants for personal and group outings...this restaurant is off my list.

Google
This will be one of my go-to's when I'm in Visalia. They gave me chips, beans and salsa to start. The salsa was excellent. Good amount of spice. Normally I'm not a fan of beans and rice because they're usually bland but these were really good and well seasoned. I ordered the chicken chimichangas and they were SO good! I like how they cut them in half. I went before the dinner rush so there weren't many people, but the service was excellent. The Raya restaurant is very clean. They also play great music!

Yelp
Chapala Grill is one of our go to's when we dine out. The food is always delicious and tasty. The staff are always so friendly and accommodating. Thank you Chapala Grill for always being consistent.

Yelp
This is a great place for a classic Mexican food menu. Also, this is the best place in town for a blended margarita! I had the mango margarita both on the rocks and blended. The mango syrup is a bit sweet and thick, which is perfect when blended, but a bit too much of just on the rocks. They also have salt, tajin, or sugar for the rims. The service is fantastic and the owner is very kind and cares a lot about the community. The restaurant used to be very loud, but they did a lot of work to install noise dampeners and it is much better now! Definitely my family's go-to place for a Mexican restaurant!

Yelp
I'm still coming here and I'm still loving every thing about in, even if the $1 tacos now cost more on Saturdays. Anyway, I'm updating this review b/c I'd been craving asada fries for like a week straight and while these aren't on the menu, they were happy to oblige and they were 100% fire. My wife and I both really enjoyed these. So maybe its a "secret menu" item, or maybe no one has asked before... but Pedro, you gotta get these things on the menu! its basically their nachos with fries instead of chips. But man, the fries stayed crispy and over all it was just delicious. While I was always going to come back to Chapalas... I now have a new dish to decide from.

Yelp
The service was spectacular. They had an array of dishes. My coworkers and I were able to have a sit down lunch within 45 minutes which does not always happen at restaurants. The chile verde was good but it did have a few chunks of fat in it. The fish taco my friend got was good. The chips and salsa that they give you when you sit down was pretty good.

Yelp
Our family loves this place! Excellent customer service, great food selection, and the ambiance is perfect for the family or friends to enjoy a delicious meal! We love supporting local businesses and couldn't be happier with the wonderful quality of food available, prompt service, great recommendations on when you are ready to order. We have ordered from here takeout before and I can't believe I never wrote a review! What a crime! Please follow the delicious aroma from outside and make your way inside! You won't be disappointed! Wonderful Mexican cuisine!

Yelp
Torta was huge but a lot of bread and little fillings. Chicken quesadilla was decent. Empanadas were really good and really big for the price. Waitresses were nice but they messed up a few times and then forgot our refills. We also went during lunch so they were really busy. Overall would try again

Walt S.

Yelp
The food, drinks, and service here are all top-notch. Always greeted with a smile and welcomed back! You won't regret it.

Yelp
I've used this restaurant to cater breakfast for my office for years but have never actually sat down to eat in their restaurant...until today. Sat down with the intention of getting some type of lunch special combo plate until they brought out the more than generously sized chips, salsa, and beans and cheese. By the time I was ready to place my order I was already partially full. . I decided on the Torta Cubana as a change of pace. Quite good. Not too messy but not dry either and the ham, carnitas, avocado etc all came together nicely. Service was fast, efficient, and friendly.

Yelp
Wish I could give this place a ZERO star for review. I've been here a few times prior and the food has always been decent. Today I ordered their Chili Verde plate. The plate arrived with four (4) to five (5) small chunks of pork meat hidden by the sauce. The size of the meat was proportionate to the size of your standard ice cube. My wife looked at the plate and asked how in the world could the cooks, waiters, and restaurant send out such a pathetic plate of food to their guest? I know inflation is hitting us all but this plate food was pathetic. You wouldn't even be able to make a toddler size taco with the meat that was in the plate.

Yelp
Went there Friday night at 8 pm to take out of town family to dinner, place was 1/3 occupied so no waiting for party of 9. I noticed owner was not there, took 8 minutes after we were seated to get drinks ordered, took another 10 mins for water to take our order. Waited another 40 mins for our food and had to flag down waiter to get refills. Either service is getting bad or is bad when owner not there.

Barbara H.

Yelp
Great food, fast and attentive service. It gets very loud when they are busy, which is always!

Yelp
We are visiting the area. Ordered food to go. The service was awesome. We are from Texas and love Tex-Mex. The food here is so tasty and portion sizes are big. We ate two meals from our entrees. Some of our hometown Mex places are not nearly this good!!
google avatar

Alice C.

Yelp
It's hard to determine when they're open. They have closed a few times because of being short staffed. The food is good when you can time it right. I stopped trying after awhile.

Lulu R.

Yelp
The chips and salsa and bean dip are my favorite. I've tried several dishes. Have yet to find a favorite, but not a bad experience. Servers are friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Nice clean restaurant with helpful and attentive staff. The food seemed fresh but was on the bland side. They do offer handmade corn tortillas.

Tammy G.

Yelp
Oh my. Sit in the bar. The sopes are the best I've ever had. The Chile verde was so tender and full of pork. The bean dip served with chips and salsa was delish. The margaritas were awesome as well. We will be back

Yelp
Shrimp ceviche stuffed i to 2 large avocados. Fresh, authentic. Chapala is one of our favorites. Plenty of parking, GREAT FRIENDLY SERVICE, great drinks.

Yelp
Is to expensive and id not all the great Mexican food I gone to friendly better food places
google avatar

Yelp
Food was excellent and margaritas did not disappoint. Wife and I shared some simple nachos that weren't so simple the flavor of the chili verde was outstanding. The portions are huge. Service is amazing. New place to visit will definitely be back.

Samantha M.

Yelp
Always a great atmosphere, good lighting, always clean and looks nice. The food is so good I come all the time! Great service with a smile.

Yelp
The wet burritos have such a delicious tomato-ey red sauce! Not to spicy but flavorful! Also the beans here are tasty! I do wish they considered that their competitor places do give sour cream for their burritos (that comes with the order) but I guess u can always order some on the side :) however, this place tastes and feels a little fresher and a bit more gourmet than some competitors out here in Vis. When we placed a to-go order we were given an abundant amount of chips and it made my week! I loved how thin & crispy these tortilla chips were - the salsa was actually of a medium spicy heat level 6/10 spicy! If you order anything with asada the serving portion is nice & the meat is chopped finely which we prefer in this household - will order asada tacos / combo next time. Thanks Chapala.

Yelp
We love this place! Great food! Great service! Great for families too! Highly recommend the seafood.

Yelp
Service was quick and friendly. Restaurant was easy to find, corner of Goshen and Akers. Would easily come back.

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Definitely amazing meal here. Ordered the Manuel's Baja fish tacos and they had so much flavor and were grilled to perfection! Also ordered the Mexican pizza and holy cow it's huge! Definitely enough for 3 people! Went at lunch so it was quick service and not too crowded. Clean tables and restrooms! Loved the bean dip served with the chips and salsa too!

Yelp
A fave Mexican restaurant in northwest Visalia in Keywest shopping center. From the proprietor to the staff the atmosphere is authentically Mexican. This place never lost steam during the pandemic and continues to be a premier Mexican restaurant in our area. The food is fresh and tasty. The portions are generous and the price is reasonable. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. The service always timely and more importantly the food is always exceptional. A small bar and dining area is available for small parties or intimate dinner for 2. They have some draft and of course margaritas. The house margarita is pretty darn good. The chili verde pizza a great sharing option. The only down fall is all the beautiful wood and high peak ceiling doesn't do much to absorb noise. When it's busy it can get quite loud inside. There is outdoor seating as well. But it's a highly recommend for family, friends or date night. Closed on Sundays.

Yelp
My wife has visited this place several times and each time she had good things to say. So I decided to try the place with her. First, the place was a bit packed but no one was at the front to greet or take our names. When someone finally showed up they had a little of a negative undertone. (I get it, busy Friday). We get seated and the table seemed unclean and not tidy. Now we are in this corner. It took a while to get our order to be taken. We finally ordered and of course we maintained patient. Our first drink refills were taken care of. That was before our food came. After we received our food, which the portions were generous. My wife got Asasa Sopes and I got a dinner plate of a chicken taco and a chicken tostada. My son got a bean and cheese burrito. The sopes seemed more like ground beef. The Asada was beyond salty and barely consumable. But my wife felt like she could not complain as she touted this place as a place for great Mexican food. My chicken taco and chicken tostada... it was the opposite of my wife's experience. The chicken was bland. In fact I ended dousing it in the salsa from the chips were received. The rice was over cooked as well and had a burnt taste. Once again I put salsa on the rice and the chicken the entire meal felt like it all tasted like salsa due to me trying to add flavor to the the chicken and rice. The only highlight was the whole beans that came with the plate ordered. I really felt like this was a huge miss for me. My wife was shocked when I reached for the salt and her food was overly salted. Although portions were beyond sufficient it is still not a place for me to return. Food inconsistency regardless of the portions is still a waste to me. To get our bill I had to chase a server then he just escorted me to the host area to pay. I could have done that would out the extra 15 minute of wait for someone to come by. I hope the owner sees this review to make sure the next new person in town doesn't have an experience like ours. Not sure if there was anyone one in charge of the kitchen to provide feedback.

David N.

Yelp
2-7-24 Just finished lunch with a friend who suggested we lunch there. Disappointing. Food was cold. Rice was dry. Enchilada was dry and cold. Service was prompt. Much better Mexican restaurants to choose from.

Yelp
Always love going to Chapala! Sit down or take out it's always delicious and great service!

Yelp
Nicest owners ever! Pedro will greet you with a "welcome my friends " every time! Great food, shrimp Costa Azul, Tacos Puntas Chapala, quezon Fundito, Manuel's fish tacos are some of our favorites! They have a great wine and tequila selection and make the best skinny Margaritas!
google avatar

Yelp
Love the food, the environment, the staff is always friendly and helpful! One our favorite places to eat out as a

Michael S.

Yelp
Chile Riano was one of the worst ones I've ever had manager at the counter said they make them fresh every day. I think they're out of a frozen package no flavor too much batter.

Yelp
When visiting family we decided to try this place out as my sister said it's a pretty popular local spot . First thing When entering the restaurant they have a message posted at the door that says we are not a fast food restaurant everything is cooked to order which was fine we weren't in a hurry . Well not sure if they post that to make an excuse to prepare you for how bad their service was and the food . Margaritas on the menu seemed creative and yummy but the taste was over sweet and all we tasted was mixers not a fan . The real issue was twrr

Sam B.

Yelp
Great food, great service and a great experience. I come here all the time. Great job Pedro!

Hans B.

Yelp
First the food...ordered the enchilada plate....cold no,flavor and very small portions for the price....no flavor just a big disappointment.....waited so long to try this place. Second the service.....waited a long time for drinks and chips and salsa....we went in at 1:30pm after the lunch rush and service was absent....had to chase waitress to get my tab. So In short.....will not ever be back....

Linda B.

Yelp
We love Chapala's !!! Pedro & his crew: Manny, Rafa, Maria & everyone else .......great food, great service & great atmosphere !!! Love Chapala's

Barbara G.

Yelp
Really good food, great service, positive atmosphere and good prices. This is the epitome of the local restaurant where everyone knows you.

Inger B.

Yelp
I was there with 3 other people during a very noisy lunch hour. Everyone except me liked the food. I ordered tortilla soup and a side salad. The soup was very bland, no real taste. The salad had a few pieces of lettuce, 2 chunks of tomato and no dressing.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
The food is authentic Mexican. The service is good and the ambiance is cantina style with a full service bar.
google avatar

Jill M.

Yelp
Love that they serve beans and salsa with the complimentary chips. My favorite it the Molcajete bowl with green sauce. It is so big you absolutely must share it with someone else.
google avatar

Ally W.

Yelp
Food is off the hook delicious!!! My favorite is the 3 fajita plate... SUPER BUSY restaurant & can be a bit of a wait sometimes. There is a bar there also which is nice to have a drink or two while waiting or just a casual night out!! People are SUPER friendly too!!! LOUD restaurant with lots of laughter & chatter, not recommended for a quiet evening dinner. Atmosphere is joyful but loud *COVID did effect the business some as far as keeping good staff trained & polite service but all in all an amazing restaurant!!!

Mary M.

Yelp
Once again we were impressed with the food and service. I enjoyed the Skinny chicken . It was moist and tasty. They always treat us like family. The dining room is large but still cozy.
google avatar

Jorge M.

Yelp

Yelp
Food was great. Service was great. We all ordered different things, pozole verde, tacos, chile relleno, and a Molcajete. Plus s couple margarita on the rocks, red beer and mimosas. Definitely not disappointed in our kid free brunch experience.

Raquel G.

Yelp
Service is very bad. Love the owners, they're good people. We keep trying hoping the service will get better. The wait staff appear to be unhappy.

Jim N.

Yelp
Been coming here for years... And always satisfied. Table for two or a family gathering, they will treat you well! Service: Food:

Yelp
They never get the order right! Don't bother calling their phone number, mailbox is always full! Not worth the money for the food! Beware go elsewhere!!

Yelp
Great atmosphere and special owners. Pride and putting in the extra effort is easily shown here. I appreciated that the owner was welcoming to all customers and very attentive. Chicken and ground beef was well flavored and fresh. I definitely am going to try the chimichanga next time.
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
Food: Good beans, salsa and chips. Chile verde mediocre. Also not offered refill on chips and salsa Service: people were nice. However very inattentive, waited 20+ minutes with empty drinks and no check. People were not wearing masks at the front desk. The first person did on our way in but on our way out a different person was not. Our waiter also had her mask under her nose. Maybe we came in at a bad time with changing shifts, but overall not a good experience Facility: bathrooms are falling apart. The locks are busted. Desperately needs a remodel. At least get a lock that isn't off it's hinges
